Excellent Food & Service.
We were warmly greeted by Christos & his team. Our waiter Renato was exceptionally polite, professional & thoughtful, making sure we wanted for nothing. Well worth a visit in my opinion & we shall return.
Be the first to ReplyLovely restaurant
Definitely going to come back here with friends. The steak was 10/10 and also the dessert. Sat in comfortable outdoor area. The staff was so helpful in recommending nice cocktail 😊
Be the first to ReplySunday roast and drinks
I visited Gaucho Hampstead twice in the month of March, Mother’s Day being the first for Sunday roast. Greeted by the friendly reception team and promptly shown to our table with a front row to the kitchen. The food was delicious from starter to desserts. The roast was a very generous portion with the meat cooked to perfection and accompanied with great quality vegetables. Special shout out for that cauliflower cheese which completed the roasted beautifully! We were well cared for by Sinzi (hope I got the spelling right). Just to also say that the restaurant was exceptionally busy being Mother’s Day but still delivered great service and food. My husband and I also popped in this past weekend for drinks and WOW, Ian at the bar conjured up some delectable cocktails. I enjoyed the atmosphere sitting around the bar area and having a relaxing drink. One of us are off alcohol so they do a selection of mocktails and other drinks too on their menu. All in all, I recommend a visit here whether you are a local of Hampstead or just popping by for a visit. The friendly team is sure to take care of you.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing staff
We went in on a Sunday afternoon for a drink, the staff was amazing, so friendly and so knowledgeable about wine. Will definitely go back for some food
Be the first to ReplyGreat meal after a long dog walk
Lovely food and dog friendly. Great service from Vasco who was extremely polite and helpful with the menu. Would certainly visit again.
Be the first to ReplyBig disappointment
The waiter could hardly speak/understand English and got most of the order wrong. He gave up and got the manager, who was not much better. Average Sunday roast, and my roast potatoes are 10 times better. Will not be going back. Has gone downhill. Most disappointing.
Be the first to ReplyStunning meal and great food experience
Popped in for a Friday evening meal with my son. Outstanding service, our waitress was really knowledgeable about the steaks and helped us order. We had the best steaks I have ever tasted. Tender, full of flavour. Thank you. The service was magic. Would certainly recommend this steak house
Be the first to ReplyGreat steak
Started with the beetroot ceviche and followed with a 400 gm rump steak, medium rare, charred - and it was executed perfectly
Be the first to ReplyGood value, but not memorable.
Dinner with my daughter for her birthday. It remains pretty solid. Nice outside seating area at the back. Service was good, nice touch to bring a decorated Happy Birthday cake, not asked for and a very sweet gesture. It's just that the food is, well, just average. It's better value than Goodmans, which has gone madly expensive but lacks the buzz of the Hawksmoor branches. Reliable if a bit dull.
Be the first to ReplyOverrated, overpriced, and simply no good
Overrated and overpriced. We've been a few times over the years and this will be the last time, no surprise thee are fewer customers each time we visit. Everything that's not beef is a side dish, if you don't order side dishes you literally get a plate with just a steak on it. Chips / fries are rubbish, soft and soggy. £100 for a burger, a small steak of their less extortionately priced cuts, and 2 G&Ts. £25 for a wagyu burger that tastes just like a normal one. Inside the decor is depressingly dark, lots of black. Staff are friendly but that's the only positive.
Be the first to ReplyAttentive service accompanied with exceptional culinary experience
From the start staff was exceptional both in service and attitude. The restaurant displays a high level of competency both in culinary recommendations and attentive service. Our waiter Fation provided everything we could of asked for and more, above and beyond our expectations
Be the first to ReplyOh my!
What’s happened?!! It used to be good and the service still is, but either their butcher is selling them rubbish meat, (and they should know better!) or they are knowingly selling us rubbish meat. I had a fillet medium rare. Let’s overlook the fact that it came raw and focus on the lump of sinew which was sent back. This was followed by a replacement medium rare second lump of fat and sinew with a little meat on the edge. I must confess I have never seen any fillet like that !!! Are we getting served cheap cuts instead…. Maybe as margins come under pressure so does quality….? Sadly, time to go somewhere else!!!! Let’s move on!
Be the first to ReplyLovely but OVERLY expensive for what it is
I really enjoyed the meal at groucho but the bill was extortionate . I would say its closer to Miller and carter (in food and ambience ) than to Hawksmoor (does not nearly compare ) .... The price was so ridiculous £150 for such for two adults and an 11 year old who ate from the kids menu ..no alcohol .. very limited food... no expensive cuts ... just crazy prices . Very empty restaurant .... I mean its lovely ,but id probably stick with Miller and carter for this kind of experience ...
Be the first to ReplyExceptional in every way!!
Just back from a really lovely meal at Gaucho's in Hampstead. From the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out, we were treated incredibly well. The service was exceptional and so was the food. We are so used to being underwhelmed in restaurants in London, from The Savoy to Michelin Starred eateries, the service was way above anywhere we have been recently. Thank you so much to Carlota who looked after us and really paid attention to every detail, and also to Chenise who served behind the bar. Such genuine lovely people, as were all the staff we came in contact with. Our dog was incredibly happy too, it was the first time we've treated him to a doggy portion of steak and he loved it!! Thank you again to all of you at Hampstead Gaucho, you really know how to treat your customers. It was our Anniversary, so it was really a really special date. It was the 2nd time we've been, so we now know you are consistent. Hope to see you all again soon. Lucie
Be the first to Reply10/10 customer service
Just visited for my partners birthday, we’ve been once before a couple of years ago and loved it. On this occasion we can both say we’ve never experienced a better service from the lovely Federico. We went with his recommendations on the steak and the wine, both were absolutely phenomenal! Atmosphere and food was 10/10 especially the birthday surprise. I’m aware there’s other Gaucho branches, but we would definitely come back to Hampstead in order to receive Federico’s attention to detail, recommendations and outstanding customer service. Thank you once again Gaucho, we’ll be back ☺️
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed
Very mixed feelings about this place. I visited after few years and the quality drastically changed. For the shocking prices I was hoping for good meals i’ve been restlessly missing for the long time I haven’t visited. The quality I remember from years ago is simply gone and we were all very disappointed. I used to talk about gaucho days after dining there but now I’m just left with very expensive afternoon. What is worth to mention was only our wonderful waiter Christian who did his best to keep us happy. His wine knowledge was absolutely beautiful and the way he interacted with my kids was priceless. Unlike the meat, it was him who kept our smiles on during this visit. Over all I’m very sad to say that this was my last time visiting Gaucho and definitely won’t come neither with my family, nor with my friends.
Be the first to ReplyJust a mess
Went for brunch and was just so disappointed. I've been to nearly every gaucho now and this one was just a shambles. We ordered one unlimited roast and one standard - we were not explained or told that is was a problem. After waiting 40 minutes the waiter then brought only one lunch and the manager argued back and forth with me and took no accountability. Food eventually came and was just nowhere near as nice as my partners - Wouldn't visit again
Be the first to ReplyOk but had better
The place was nice and service was decent. However I have gone to steak places on par with this that provide more value for money and an all-round better steak experience. Nice but not worth the spend.
Be the first to ReplySuper friendly!!
We had a lovely lunch outside, the food was delicious and the waitress super friendly!! She tried her best to accomodate one of the guests which had a special diet requirement. I would certainly go back and recommend this restaurant.
Be the first to Replygreat friendly service and nice food but portions very small !
mid week after work drinks and dinner with a friend at this place I have been to before for drinks.
it has a outdoor fireplace at the rear and a courtyard eating place.
service was very good
food was nice
portions for mains were starter price and at £23 for a main it wasnt a cheap after work meal and drink as it was £88
Excellent food and Brilliant service
We visited on a Thursday evening for a booking at 7pm for our Anniversary.
The restaurant was reasonably busy, as soon as we entered we felt welcome and service was warm, welcoming but never invasive. We ordered two cocktails, the Butterscotch BonBon was incredible!
We both ordered steak, one rump and one fillet, both were cooked perfectly and all the sides were very tasty too.
Overall very pleasant experience and would definitely visit again.
Outstanding service and excellent food
Had an amazing experiance here. The steak was was cooked to perfection. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would highly reccomend Hampstead Gaucho.
Be the first to ReplyQuestioned regarding our £30 Tip !!!
Lovely place, lovely food, great atmosphere but our night was ruined when I asked the waiter to reduce the ‘discretionary service charge’ from £60 to £30 for our table of 4, he questioned this and took the card reader out of my hand, he then had a chat with the manager who came over to the table and also questioned this, I said I thought £30 was a very reasonable tip for 4 people. A ‘discretionary’ service charge should NOT be questioned , I was made to feel very uncomfortable and in turn this ruined our night
Be the first to ReplyAn OK steak house
Living local and being a carnivore, this is my second visit in 9 years.
Just after New Year, a fellow carnivore friend whose company I enjoy opted for a local lunch. The restaurant was empty, but that was understandable after New Year.
We shared two 500g steaks .. the ribeye and the sirloin, both butterflied with a chimchurri marinade. Both tasty. Mash and chips as sides, and béarnaise & a fiery dip. Medium to full body red wine to complement the meat.
Staff were friendly, competent and efficient.
Top service Top food quality
We go to Gauchos in London a lot with friend, colleagues or just the two of us, but Hampstead Gauchos is out of this world. From the minute you walk in you feel very welcome like a family by absolutely everyone. We’ve attended with our little dog today and our waitress Victoria was outstanding. Recommended one of the best red wines I’ve ever had And an amazing desert. The steak was the best out of all Gauchos so perfectly cooked. Had the best Bday celebration for our little dog. Thank you
