A Michelin Nod Sets Up Expectations...but...
With their recent Michelin rating our expectations here were maybe overblown. The food is good - unique in many respects, and the service is well intended. That said, there are some kinks we found to be aggravating. Most troubling was the urgency the waitress was obsessed with - she seemed to want us to order as soon as we sat down. The menus are impossible to read (small print, dark paper, dim lighting). Although we'd reserved weeks in advance, we got a marginal table in the front of the room jammed between noisy parties of 8 and 6. The cutlery & serving dishes were frankly "diner level" - not appropriate when dinner for 2 approaches $400.00 (including an insulting charge for tap water). Though an inferior side dish was not billed - it should never have happened.

A fabulous Italian eatery a 20 minute drive from our hotel. Our local friends recommended it as we would not have found it ourselves. We would have missed out big time. Great food and attentive, friendly and efficient service and a lively atmosphere made our evening. The branzino and Nโduja pizza were the food highlight for us although the all around experience would have us returning on a regular bases if we lived in Toronto. A real find and totally recommended.

Great food/drink and staff are on top of their game, everything is precise and done with care. Reservations are a must. We ate at the bar and it was great!
Be the first to ReplyGiulietta - Excellent Dining Experience
We were able to get a reservation for our Anniversary - I noted this on the OpenTable reservation, just threw it on not really expecting anything. When we arrived, the lovely hostess congratulated us .. she knew ... .and the Sommelier poured us a nice glass of proseco in our honour. Really well done by the restaurant, it is clear they understand top service. Our meal was excellent, salumi and formaggio plate, cacio e pepe, some roasted brocollini and their braciola di maiale (roasted iberico pork chop) which was stellar. Tip of the hat to the kitchen and front of the house for a great experience.

Lovely restaurant. Great ambience. Exceptional service. Food? Not great. Michelin star? Unsure. The bolognese as a main course was underwhelming. The potato and salt cod as an appetizer was salty. We plan to go back and try some other dishes but were disappointed given the reputation.

Been wanting to try Giulietta forever and finally for a reso for the birthday weekend! Tartare Di Manzo Belgioiso Burrata Risotto Di Aragosta Brodetto Di Pesce Torta Della Nonna This was hands down one of my all time fav beef tartare and burrata all of the seafood components in the pesce were cooked perfectly! The Risotto had so many diced pieces of Lobster in it, very flavourful and meaty but the Risotto was al dente and I personally prefer when it's softer and more goey tasting but it was still delicious. Can't wait to come back to try more dishes!
Be the first to ReplyGo for food, return for the service
Just had dinner here last night. The food is quite good , although portions are small and somewhat pricey. I had risotto which was good, although not $46 good for the 8 spoonfuls that was portion size. My partner had the truffle ravioli which was pretty luscious. Wine list was decent but at $20+ for a 2โ glass is also a touch steep. While the food is definitely worth a visit, the real star here is the service provided by Alannah, very friendly, courteous and professional. While the food is the big draw, the service Alannah provided was what truly truly shined. Wonโt be rushing back but definitely would recommend especially given that he exceptional service we received.

My wife and I had an outstanding dinner last night at Giulietta. The food and service were both excellent. We loved every bite! The burrata, grilled octopus and tortelli were spectacular. Laura, Nicholas and Kevin took great care of us. We sat at the bar, which was a lot of fun because we got to watch Kevin work his magic all night creating interesting drinks. Overall, we would highly recommend. We will be back!
Be the first to ReplyStuck up Staff - not worth it
I donโt care how good the food is or how many Michelin stars they have. The staff are stuck ups and think they are own the world. Very rude and mean. The. Hostess treated us like the plague. For 30$ a drink and 50$ plates we should be treated like kingsโฆim a blogger and will make sure to tell everyone I know not to go There. No restaurant is worth such treatment.

Weโve visited several times and this restaurant gets better From the front door welcome to the extremely attentive serving staff. Dinner is exquisite Went apps straight to mains. Secondi with contorni. Prosciutto and Piave formaggio with olives to munch on. The pork chop from Spain cooked to perfection And Zuppa di pesce Compliments to the chefsโจ Good to see Owner Rob Rossi in the kitchen ๐
Be the first to ReplyUnremarkable. overrated.
belgioioso burrata was average. calamari fritti was ok. insalata di cavolo was very good. found lump of sugar on top of the tortelli di zucca. the pasta was fresh. yet, the sweet taste overwhelmed this dish. the brodetto di pesce was good. waitress was very attentive and service was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyNot exceptional
Lots of hype and difficult to get reservations, but not amazing, nor must go. The food is very good, with the agnolotti being a great choice. Pizza and zucchini flower were solid apps, as was the lemon curd tart. Pricey and wines by the glass start at $20, with corkage being $60! Great service in a long restaurant space. Won't go out of my way to return. The restaurant is quite anal about the 2 hour seating/dining time and they don't want all courses to be separated, so pizza/fritta came together.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the price
Food was good, but not five star good, although they charge five star prices. The portions are very small. A glass of wine is only half inch deep. Service was okay. There are far better alternatives within 3 blocks along College street for a lot less money. Also the decor is rather plain for a place that charges so much. Not coming back.
Be the first to ReplyAlways a special night at Guilietta
Giulietta is one of our "go to" restaurants for special occasions. My husband grew up with his Italian mother's expert cooking and is very particular about pasta. Giulietta never disappoints in that regard. At our last visit I had the insalata di cavolo, seafood stew with grilled bread and a poached pear in chocolate cake dessert - all were amazing.
Given the popularity of Giulietta and how hard it is to get a table, I did wonder if I'd make things even worse with this five star review, but Giulietta totally deserves it, so I'll share my glowing recommendation with the world
Great Italian restaurant
Loved the atmosphere and the service was pretty good. They have a nice open display of their produce storage room which is neat. They also have an open kitchen you can sit at, in addition to the bar. There's plexy glass as a divider for safety.
As for the food, portions are really big. Both in their appetizers and their mains. The grilled octopus had great flavour and not over cooked like some places. The Carne Crudo - steak tartar with truffle was also very flavourful and there was so much of it on the bread. Would definitely have these two appetizers again and try others. I recommend going with more people so you can try more.
The cacio e pepe was a bit light on the pepper for us when compared to others we've had. The past itself was really good and cooked al dente. We also had the veal cheek ragu. This had good flavour and the veal was very tender.Had the tiramisu for dessert and it was good.
We would recommend this place and go again.
Excellent experience
We had a delicious meal at Giulietta. They are carefully following Covid 19 protocols so it was very comfortable. The menu has some great Italian choices and we ordered the octopus and carpaccio, followed by the rib eye for two. Everything was flavorful and perfectly prepared. Drinks menu is very good although we didnโt order wine because we were driving. They have delicious non alcoholic options. Gelato was excellent end to the meal. Friendly, attentive service.
Be the first to ReplyAnniversary Date Night Made Special
My boyfriend kept our BF/GF Anniversary date location a secret up until we walked into the door of Giullietta.
Our experience began started with the most expensive glass of wine I ever ordered. A Chenin Blanc (2017 Arnaud Lambert Samur Clos De Midi), which was recommended by our lovely waitress, Alana, to pair with our starter and meal.
It paired perfectly with everything in the Prosciutto e Montasio, which was a selection of prosciutto, slices of montano cheese, delicious castaveltrano olives and house made taralli (breadsticks, but they were flavored with fennel seeds and a taste I could not place).
The experience continued with our mains. My boyfriend got the Ravioli Grasole, which is ravioli stuffed with sweet corn and sauced with heriloom tomatoes ganished with parmigiano reggiano, lemon and chives. I had the Cacciucco di Pesce, a dish of perfectly seared scallops, giant prawns, and a selection of mussels and clams with slices of crusty bread drizzled with olive oil. I fully enjoyed my choice of dish, but I believe my boyfriend's was better. The wine paired wonderfully with both and we savoured every bite.
To top it off, each of us got the Torta della Nonna for dessert. Think of a butter tart, slightly bigger and filled with pine nuts baked in wildflower honey and topped with mascarpone cream. It was absolutely delicious.
The best food experience I've had. Thank you Giulietta.
An absolutely wonderful meal and great service!
Everything about this place was a huge treat. Covid Safety protocols were in place, and we had a beautiful meal and excellent service. 5 Stars All the Way!
Be the first to ReplyClose to perfect...so close
On a visit here with family for my birthday dinner, the first thing that strikes me is the design of this space: Simple, low key luxury with a focus on the details. Even the terrazzo floors are impressive and open kitchen very...democratic?! Food is outstanding, if not a bit heavy on the garlic, and portions on the smaller side. My friends later tell me this restaurant has a small portion stigma. Our Branzino is honestly child size and vegetable sides well, sides for one. Mushroom pizza is beyond, the garlic hitting the top of my mouth before I even taste it. Service is a big thing here too: they appear to be focused on being swift, professional and disciplined, but little gaps open up like not refilling our water fast enough, making us wait for the sommelier and not getting our coats until we ask...even after standing by our table ready to go for 5 minutes. Tighter! I only say this because the restaurant sets you up for a perfect experience and NEEDS perfection. Iโd be happy to return on their dime and help them close every tiny gap I find behind the curtain. See you soon, Giulietta.

Very nice Food. Was expecting it to be hyped but its a notch higher than places like Terroni or other famous Italian restaurants in Toronto. Servers are very professional. Overall very good experience
Be the first to ReplyShockingly offensive treatment by owner
I have been contemplating whether to post this review and have decided that I should in fairness to the good, unsuspecting restaurant-going folks out there, particularly those who care about service! I would not recommend this restaurant or indeed any other under the same ownership.
My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary a few nights ago and we had a reservation at Giulietta. We are wine collectors and frequently attend at good restaurants that allow us to bring a bottle to enjoy with our meal. I took a bottle of 2008 Giuseppe Mascarello Barolo Monprivato, which is a really great wine.
We had cocktails and the bottle was opened and tasted โ all good. Sarah, the sommelier, asked if we wanted it decanted; we said yes. She decanted it. Her service was very good. After cocktails, and with our starters, Sarah poured us each a small glass of the wine. We enjoyed the wine with our appetizers.
Then a few minutes later, Jordan, who was acting front of house, came over and apologetically explained that a server had taken our decanter of wine and poured it out at another table! We were pretty aghast. Jordan was very apologetic (and very nice) and brought over the restaurant wine list with the suggestion that we choose something off it as a replacement. Not wanting to be greedy, we asked him to choose. He came back with two bottles, a village Burgundy and a Rosso di Montalcino, both from 2013, and neither of which were anywhere close in pedigree or value to the wine we had brought. Nonetheless, we accepted the bottle that he suggested, being the Rosso. It was OK at best. Jordan did say that this was THE LEAST they could do. My wife and I were fully expecting our meal (which was not extravagant by any means) to be complimentary.
We finished our main courses, and the server came to ask if weโd like cheese or dessert. Having a pretty unhappy flavour about the evening, we said no, and that weโd prefer to wrap up and go. They then brought us the bill and said they had excluded the corkage.
I asked Jordan if they felt this was fair and reasonable, and I said that if they thought so, I would pay it. He asked us to wait and went to get the owner. David โ who professed to be the owner โ came over. He was aggressive and condescending. At first, he kept saying that mistakes are made and the โpoor girlโ made a mistake, etc. etc. I said of course mistakes are made and we all make mistakes and thatโs totally fine. The question is how you deal with them. He asked how I would have dealt with it. I said I was also in the service industry and would be bending over backwards to ensure my customer left happy, or as happy as could be in the circumstances. He then said that they could have just not told us, replaced the bottle behind the scenes and we would never have known! I said I found that quite inappropriate and lacking in integrity. I said we did not feel the house had dealt with this situation in an appropriate manner. He then grabbed the bill, threw my credit card at me and told us that we were done and to โget the f*** outโ.
We were beyond ourselves at this treatment and left quite aghast. Needless to say, we will never cross the threshold of any of their restaurants again. In fact, my wife had a reservation at LโUnita, another of their offerings, for the next evening, which she cancelled.
Shocking and unacceptable. I hope other patrons donโt have to deal with this type of treatment.
Awesome, simply awesome
Made the reservation a month before we actually went. The restaurant was packed on a Monday night. Food and service were both superb. Atmosphere was very nice. Music was more background than blaring noise which was very nice. The appetizers were excellent, the mains superb and the desserts heavenly. Pizzas were the best in the city. Would highly recommend and will definately go back.

Came for a weeknight dinner and was able to nab reservations. In an eclectic up and coming part of west Toronto, but worth the trek. We ordered several items to share along with our own mains. The grilled octopus, swiss chard salad, and amatriciana were shared. All were delightful - especially the salad, which had a great flavor and the various textures of the ingredients meshed well. We ordered the tagliolini and branzino for mains and both were delicious. The tagliolini was a bit cooler in temperature than I'd like it to have been - it was warm but preferred hot. Overall delicious meal and our server was super friendly, energetic and helpful in selecting choices from the menu. Will definitely be back!
