This new, modern Indian (fusion) restaurant in Tribeca is definitely a vibe. The interior is both fancy and cozy. Staff was amazing and the entire menu was a delight! They boast of their grills and curries and they surely did not disappoint. All the flavours in pretty plates! Must-try, must-visit, must-come back.P.S. Don't skip dessert.

Goa doesn't quite cut it for hitting top Indian food in NYC or delivering on authentic Goan food. This place may have the potential to one day compete with Semma or Adda, but today it certainly doesn't.The "Legendary Lamb Chops" were probably my favorite dish, but certainly not legendary. Outside of the lamb chops I don't think anything was great. The sauce with this dish was good, the char on the chops was great, but still not legendary. The Goan Prawn curry represented nothing I had when in Goa, and the quality of the prawns was not super high. The dish was incredibly disappointing. All Bao and Pao came with beer which was nice, but felt a little gimmicky to make up for high prices and mediocre food. The Bao and Pao were just okay...wouldn't recommend. The Rajasthani goat was fine, but again didn't hit expectations for a well thought out dish. The dish was again super one dimensional. The General Manager was our server, and he was incredibly nice, but it was clear the reason that was happening was because the restaurant was understaffed. Checking in took all of 5 minutes which is longer than almost any restaurant I've ever been to that does not have a long line at the podium. The bus boy wasn't sure if we should change plates between courses or not and awkwardly gave us the option...we did and then he seemed to think if that meant silverware should change too. The wine list is juvenille with only basic options available and no liquor license yet. The albarino was fine, but nothing on there is a deal and nothing on there is really worth drinking. Honestly you might just want to settle for Goa Lager.I don't think we'll be coming back, not because it's horrible, but because for the price you can find much better indian food in NYC. If this restaurant were in a suburb it might be the best you get, and in that context I do think it would be 5 stars, but in a town where Rahi wasn't a viable restaurant, Goa only deserves 3 stars.
Be the first to ReplyVery mediocre food.
Food was 5/10. The kitchen wasn't able to handle orders. Dessert did not include ice cream (even though the menu said so) since they didn't have a freezer. Not sure how you can run a supposedly fancy restaurant without a freezer. Decor was nice but this isn't a place for foodies.

I should have heeded warnings about the service in this place, but was looking forward to trying the food, so took a chance. We waited over an hour for appetizers that never came. Our waiter then informed us that the kitchen had yet to start preparing our order despite multiple earlier assurances that the order was on its way. We were served flat champagne (the bottle was clearly opened the day before and not stored properly) and charged $90 for 3 glasses that were not even consumed. When we complained about this, the restaurant staff made no effort to make things right. All the while, the restaurant staff seem to wander around the restaurant aimlessly staring at people. Needless to say, we cancelled our food order and went elsewhere. Such a disappointment.

We had a 6:45pm reservation on a Saturday evening and had to wait a bit before being escorted to our table. Appetizers came out and were perfectly mediocre. After an additional 45 minute wait with no updates, we received our "entrees," which were not what we ordered. After informing the curt staff, about two minutes later, our correct entrees arrived and were ice cold. One can interpret this as our food sitting idle in the kitchen. After informing who seemed to be the manager, he was initially not helpful but did in the end comp our entire meal. But even the free food did not compensate for waiting an hour for a cold meal that was entirely unremarkable, lacking in originality and came nowhere near justifying the listed menu prices. There is 0 reason to return here - plenty of other traditional and/or upscale Indian restaurants with better food and service.

I recently visited Goa with a friend for dinner and found the atmosphere of the restaurant to be great. The dishes we tried were all amazing, but my personal favorites were the lamb, butter chicken, and lamb bao. Even though I don't usually eat lamb, the meat here was so tender and the flavor not too overpowering. We went on a Sunday night and the restaurant was quite busy, which meant that they seemed to be short on waiters. However, this did not detract from our overall enjoyment of the experience.

About a month old restaurant with potential to be 5 stars for sure. The ambiance is beautiful with two floors and chefs counter which is where we sat. It was nice having that option. I ordered the charcoal butter chicken, the sauce was tasty but the chicken alone was a tad dry. My husband had the lamp chops which were delicious but didn't come with any sides like rice or breads for the sauce. Just two lamb chops. The service was ok. Took us a while to get our bill or have our wine refilled. Also they still don't have the liquor license so it's only beer and wine. Overall I would definitely give this place another try in a few months.
Be the first to ReplyIt was a dinner experience for 4 of us.
There was a change with addition of my friends child and the front staff was gracious enough to accommodate our party. I had refused the high chair table and it was a not a problem. We were welcome at the bar and they had a good selection although I am intrigued to try the Goa Lager. Next time! The food was delicious: we got papaddam, fish fry, a pork curry, the chicken butter masala, and garlic naan. The desserts which comprised of jalebi and pudding was delicious. The side rice dish did not have any flavor and did not go with any of the dishes. However, we enjoyed the food thoroughly and the customer service was very nice!We will back in a few months! please look at the photos at Instagram handle @anneshachowdhury123

I don't usually write reviews but feel compelled to after the atrocious treatment my friends and I received at Goa. We had a reservation at 9pm on Friday that we were on time for, however we were left waiting for almost an hour with no update on our table. The front staff did offer us a free round of drinks early on in our wait which was appreciated, however when we raised the excessive wait time with the owner at the 45 minute mark we were met with unnecessary aggression and escalation. He told us there was nothing he could do, they are running late and didn't need "attitude", on pushing back on his unreasonable response he escalated further and asked our party to leave the restaurant! The front staff did attempt to remedy the situation but it was too late at that point, we did not feel comfortable dining there and left. Still shocked with the turn of events. I was looking forward to dining here but will not be supporting an owner who thinks it is acceptable to treat customers in this way.

I recently visited Goa and had a fantastic dining experience. From the start, I was impressed by the stylish and modern ambiance of the restaurant. The staff (Andres, Jane) were extremely friendly and attentive, and our server (Christian) was knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations tailored to our dietary restrictions. To start off our meal, we had the Chorizo Chili Fry, which was incredibly flavorful and delicious. The Lamb Bao was also a standout dish, with wonderfully marinated lamb and pickled red onion that provided a perfect balance of texture and flavor. The dish that stole the show, however, was the Charcoal Butter Chicken, with a side of the Red Chili, Garlic and Coriander Naan. The Chef's take on this classic dish was truly exquisite -- the best I've ever had in NYC -- and will always keep me coming back for more. Overall, I highly recommend Goa. The food was outstanding, and the whole experience was top-notch. The service was excellent, and the attention to detail was evident in every aspect of our meal. I can't wait to come back and try more of their delicious offerings.
Be the first to ReplyHad a dinner reservation made through Resy.
Our party of 5 was made to wait for 50 mins saying they honored another 6 people walk-in that they shouldn't have. The hostesses were honest about the situation, but things went downhill when the owner addressed the situation. When we complained, HE ESCALATED AND WENT ON AN UNAPOLOGETIC RANT, VERBALLY ATTACKING US SAYING "SO WHAT? WE ARE BACKED UP, IT HAPPENS. I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY TO YOU GUYS, YOU CAN LEAVE". Been to hundreds of restaurants in Manhattan but never experienced anything remotely as shocking as this. Recommend staying away from this dishonorable establishment that seemingly has a pattern of disrespecting customers (read other reviews!) within the first few weeks of opening.
