Golden Diner New York Reviews from The Last Year
Best pancake in town!! The service was great.
It's a bit small but that doesn't stop us to go eat there. Definitely will revisit
My friend and I came to Golden Diner on a Saturday for
My friend and I came to Golden Diner on a Saturday for brunch around 12:45pm. There are no reservations for the weekends so the wait time was estimated to be around 1.5 -2 hours, which sounds like a lot, but at this point we were determined to get in. We waited outside in a shaded area that had benches and finally got seated after a little over an hour when we were notified via text. We sat in their outside area but they also have some limited seating indoors. The restaurant has a very quintessential diner feel, with the retro diner stools, classic decor, exposed brick walls and smell of bacon that made our stomachs gurgle (we didn't get a lot of this since where we were outside and but outside was still pleasant despite losing some of that diner feel). Our waiter was super nice and very attentive of our table. He got our orders in quickly and our food came out fast. We tried: -Chicken Katsu Club: my friend ordered this and she really enjoyed it. The presentation is just beautiful: the colors of the sandwich are so vibrant and the layers are perfect. The katsu comes in a generous portion, and smelled delicious. I did not try this but my friend said the katsu was perfectly crispy and tender on the inside with a very good flavor that did not even require the side sauce. The sweetness of the katsu sauce really seems to balance out the umami elements like the bacon in the dish. Portion size very generous. Would try this next time! -Tuna Melt: I originally heard about Golden Diner for their tuna melt and this did not disappoint me at all. I will begin by saying I'm not the biggest fan of tuna in sandwiches but this blew me away. Probably one of my favorite sandwiches in the city. The tuna salad was creamy, smooth, and not fishy at all (?!) and came in a very generous layer. They add some small pieces of onion and salt and vinegar chips which really elevates the tuna by giving it some tangy and salty hints. This is all perfectly tied by the creamy, rich American cheese that was warm and created a temperature gradient with the cooler tuna salad (not sure how they pulled this off but the tuna was nice and cool). The bread was another level of delicious. The rye was perfectly grilled and crispy. The mildly sweet flavor of the butter on bread really tied everything together. Honestly already dreaming of coming back just for this. -Honey Butter Pancakes: when I thought I could not be wowed further, I took a bite of these pancakes and was sent straight to food heaven. I have pretty high standards for pancakes and these definitely met my expectations. They were thick, fluffy, soft, and perfectly absorbed the delicious honey butter. Incredibly well made!! These are definitely on the richer side but if you share them, it's a perfect sweet treat. Definitely made my top 3 pancakes in the city. Overall, I had a fantastic brunch here. The food was so delicious and I was full for hours after. Super worth the price. It is definitely a heavier meal but it's just what you hope for when you go for the diner experience. Ambiance was also super cute and the service felt very warm and genuine! I am looking forward to coming back :) I highly recommend this place!

We waited about and hour and a half to be seated on a Sunday afternoon. So I would make reservations if possible. The pancake was definitely as good as they say it was. The breakfast burrito was pretty solid. The Katsu sandwich can be skipped. For me, a sandwich should be proportionate. The katsu sandwich had a very thin piece chicken and was mostly cabbage. Not worth the $24. I also didn't like how rushed we felt the entire time. We we're out in under an hour.
We just had to try this spot!! Glad we did.
We had a great early dinner - service was so nice. We tried the Korean friend chicken (yum!) the famous Chicken Katsu Club (just ok!) and Honey Butter Pancakes (with berry sauce) so so good!! Would absolutely recommend the wings and pancakes - would recommend a reservation if you choose to check it out! Thanks for a great meal!
OVERALL/WHAT TO KNOW: -Honey butter pancakes and golden
OVERALL/WHAT TO KNOW: -Honey butter pancakes and golden burger are unreal and must-try. Chicken Katsu club and home fries are also amazing and worth getting. -The green tea coffee cake is not worth it. -It's very hot inside. The air conditioning was either very minimal or nonexistent. The food and everything else was so good I'm giving five stars despite how uncomfortable the atmosphere was from the heat. -They do take reservations for Monday-Friday, just not for weekends. ARRIVAL: -Heard about this place first over a year ago and since then it's been blowing up. Now I see it regularly through tons of Instagram videos from influencers as well as things like Eater and infatuation so I finally had to go. -I thought they did not take reservations so my partner and I showed up around 12pm on a Friday. There was a 90 minute wait. We put our name down and got a text confirming we were on the list. -I learned they do take reservations for Monday-Friday, but they don't accept reservations for the weekends (I had misunderstood). -We went on Resy and saw they still had reservations for later in the afternoon. We chose to remove our name from the waitlist and get a 3:45pm reservation. -When you make reservations, you need to put down a credit card because there is a fee for no-shows. -When we returned, we were seated right away. FOOD/DRINK: -We had the honey butter pancakes, mushroom Reuben quesadilla, golden burger, chicken katsu club, home fries, and green tea coffee cake. -The honey butter pancakes and the golden burger are incredible. They have a huge impact from the first bite and do not disappoint. -The chicken katsu club and home fries are also amazing so I would recommend them highly. If you had to choose, I would say they're not quite as wowing as the pancakes and the burger. -The mushroom Reuben quesadilla was really interesting due to the pastrami-flavored mushrooms, but overall disappointing. I'd recommend it only if you love pastrami, salty food, and are just really curious. It was a bit dry because there was not much cheese and the tortilla was cooked to an extra crunchy dark brown. The Russian dressing that it came with would have helped, but it was some kind of unconventional Russian dressing. It had the consistency of cottage cheese, was super salty (mostly from the pickles in it I think), and had no sweetness. The quesadilla was already well-seasoned and a little salty from the kraut so adding the dressing made it overpoweringly salty. -The coffee cake was just not worth the calories/price. It was not bad, just boring. I got neither much green tea flavor nor coffee cake flavor. It just made me wish it was a regular coffee cake or green tea cake. To be fair, I took it home and ate it a day later, but even still I don't think freshness was the issue. SERVICE: -Service was great! Our server was super attentive and patient with us. He was also very flexible with us wanting to order multiple dishes at different times. -The hostess was also super friendly. ATMOSPHERE/LAYOUT: -There is both outdoor and indoor seating. It was super hot out so we opted for indoor. -I'm not sure if there was just minimal A/C or if it was not working properly or what, but it was only a few degrees cooler inside than outside. All the customers were fanning themselves with their menus and the servers played it cool, but were obviously covered in sweat stains. It's a casual place so the only real issue for me was that it was so packed and tables are so close together that I could occasionally smell the B.O. of other guests (that I assume were waiting outside in the unmitigated heat before their tables were ready). I'm sure it did not help that it was super busy and that the kitchen is essentially in the same room. -The layout is like a classic old-school diner. It's pretty small with only maybe 12 tables inside. There's also a lunch counter with maybe 10 of those metal, cushioned stools that are built into the floor. -there is one unisex bathroom that was large and pretty clean.
My family and I arrived at 10:11am on 7/13/24, 11 minutes
My family and I arrived at 10:11am on 7/13/24, 11 minutes after the restaurant opened. The line was extremely long but moved quickly. We were told it'd be a 2 1/2 wait for 6 people. WHAT??? That's just downright ridiculous!!! No one should have to wait that long for breakfast. The owners should really consider making weekends reservations only. I'm visiting from D.C and knew I wanted to go here, so I definitely would've made a reservation. Also, there are 2 outdoor seating areas but only one was open. WHY??? When the wait was so long. It took us 30 minutes to get there from my hotel so we decided to order to go. We stood out in the rain and ate our food We had to be at the ferry to go to the Statue of Liberty by 12:30p.m so we couldn't wait 2 1/2 hours. The pancakes were good. My sister got the wings and said they were good as well. The potatoes were not the typical breakfast potatoes but just overly fried tater tots. I didn't care for them. If you plan to eat here, I suggest arriving 2 hours before they open.
We came at 10 to write our names down and waited 30 mins
We came at 10 to write our names down and waited 30 mins for a table, which wasn't bad at all. We shared the honey butter pancakes, the sando and avocado toast all of them were great. The pancakes were super airy and light, contrasting to how heavy it looks. The avocado toast was alright and I also feel like the sando was fine too. I know this place is getting a lot of attention right now, I think it is definitely good for the price point but I am not sure if I'll be back. The service was really nice, food also came out pretty quick!
We ordered, Korean fry chicken and a breakfast burrito!
We ordered, Korean fry chicken and a breakfast burrito! Service was a bit slow but was manageable. The ambiance was a typical dining. I have to say, I would really recommend the breakfast burrito, it's a large burrito and they went all out on the eggs. Good portion for the burrito. The wings were good as well. It was a little lighter on the sauce compared to other Korean chicken places I've been to. The crisp was there though! This waiting was base on food and I would go back to try another thing on the menu.
Employees were pretty nice.
However, when we got an order of the pancakes it just had a bunch of honey at the bottom and on top, which made it kind of inedible.
Worst hostess I've ever met in my life.
Incredibly rude and told me to do the math to see when my table would be ready. Pancakes weren't even delicious. Just mid.
Mothers Day Brunch
Showed up at 9:15 and there was a line already forming. Dropped off placeholders to wait in line. 45 minutes later, line around the block. Crazy busy.
First time here, I thought it was great.
We got the pancakes to share and they are extremely fluffy and the honey butter is pretty good. But has a touch of lemon to it which I did not particularly enjoy. The service was great, and the food came out pretty quickly. It is a small place. We sat outside but there were heat lamps. There is indoor seating but very small. Downside, the tables outside are very small.

Make sure you make a reservation otherwise there will be a 40 group wait list (actually). I love the mix of items you'll find in the menu with a heavy influence of American breakfast classics like pancakes, omelettes and breakfast sandwiches with something different! This is a place where you'll find the thickest pancakes, chicken katsu, matzo ball soup and really good cold brew all in one spot . I think it's a great representation of the area. I thought the food was presently nicely, loved the lemon butter on the pancakes and thought the chicken katsu sandwich was the best thing we ordered! Friendly staff and try to get indoor seating if possible because the smells from the outside world are not appetizing on a hot day. Iykyk!

I came here on a weekday for dinner and was able to be seated right away. We had the Thai Cobb Salad, Chicken Katsu Club and Honey Butter Pancakes. Everything was really delicious and the pancakes were perfect. We ordered the pancakes with the berry compote but I think next time I'd do without. The pancakes and syrup were super sweet so the berries bring in a bit of a tart flavor. Since we had so much food we weren't able to get the the pancakes very quickly so the berries seemed to make the crisp pancakes get a bit soggy.
Golden Diner was everything I had hoped for and more!!! The
Golden Diner was everything I had hoped for and more!!! The host was fantastic, the moment we got there, she was able to seat us, we did go on a Tuesday afternoon. The food! The food was marvelous! If it's only two people, do yourself a favor get only one order of pancakes, my son and I got two orders of pancakes, I could only eat a quarter The pancakes were so big and fluffy. The place was full but still very cozy and chill!

OMGOODNESS these pancakes are TO!! DIE!! FOR!!!!!! And they're WORTH THE HYPE! First time here & the restaurant as well as the food DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The pancakes came out piping HOT & slathered in that DELICIOUSLY lemon butter & syrup...CHEF'S KISS
I cannot speak highly enough about this restaurant.
Every single dish was delicious and worth the hype. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to try it! I came in on a Monday afternoon and was immediately seated inside. The service was quick and efficient, and the waiters were super friendly. The food was truly immaculate. The Honey Butter Pancakes are probably the best stack of pancakes I've ever had. They were served piping hot, fluffy, with the most delicious syrup on top. I loved the addition of the lemon zest - it added a slight freshness to the rest of the dish. I could not stop talking about these pancakes for the rest of the day. If you visit Golden Diner, you must try these heavenly pancakes! The Chicken Club Katsu was also a phenomenal dish. The bread was light and fluffy, the red cabbage slaw was tangy, and the chicken cutlet itself was fried to perfection. Another must try if you visit. Lastly, the Thai Tea Tres Leches Cake was such a creative take, and you could definitely taste the Thai Tea flavor. The chantilly cream on top was light enough that it did not overpower the actual cake. I loved the flavor so much and appreciated how the cake remained fluffy. The store interior was welcoming and had a vintage style. It is a rather small restaurant, but there was also outdoor seating. I look forward to coming back and trying even more of Golden Diner's delicious food!

These pancakes are SCRUMPTIOUS!!! Don't listen to the haters that say it's not worth it they're liars. I personally don't like berry puree so I got it without and they were delicious. Also they have a great cup of coffee. Advice: book a reservation on resy! The outdoor seating is snug but it's heated so you don't have to worry about being chilly:)
this viral joint lives up to the hype -- SOOO many good
this viral joint lives up to the hype -- SOOO many good options on the menu but i had to try the famous honey butter pancakes & chinatown egg sando on scallion milk bun. pancakes were so decadent, swimming in sauce and deliciously cakey on the inside. sandwich was also fantastic, the hashbrown really makes the whole thing shine! id happily play the reservation game to try other things on this menu.
After hearing so much hype about Golden Dinner, we decided
After hearing so much hype about Golden Dinner, we decided to go on a Saturday morning when it opens. We arrived at around 10:10am and there was already a line outside the door of around 15 people. There isn't a lot of seating indoors (bar seating, and a few tables of 2), and we didn't want to sit outdoors in the cold, so we were put on the waiting list. Luckily, we only had to wait around 30-35min before we were notified that a table was being cleaned. We ordered some recommendations. Chinatown Egg and Cheese Sando ($13) was made with scrambled eggs, American cheese, hash brown patty, on a sesame scallion milk bun. The eggs were soft and fluffy. Hash brown was crispy. I wish the scallion flavor was more prominent in the bun though. Honey Butter Pancake ($15) included two fluffy pancakes served with honey maple butter, and the option to have a berry compote for an additional $4. Against popular opinion, I wasn't impressed by the pancakes. They felt rather heavy, and I didn't want to eat more than a few bites. Chicken Katsu Club ($19) included chicken cutlet, bacon, lettuce, tomato, red cabbage slaw, and katsu sauce. This was great! There were 3 layers of bread, so it held together well despite having a lot inside. The tanginess of the slaw complimented the meat well. This was my favorite of what we ordered. Thai Tea Tres Leches Cake ($11) was topped with Chantilly cream, toasted coconuts, and lime zest. Very moist. The staff member outside seating people was very friendly, but we didn't have too much interaction with our waitress other than just taking our order and getting the check. Overall, I enjoyed the meal, but I wouldn't say all the popular/recommended items are worth the hype. I would like the try the Golden cheeseburger and Sam's tuna melt the next time we come here though.
Small but cozy little diner that has amazing
Small but cozy little diner that has amazing brunch/breakfast options! No reservations unfortunately, it is first come first serve. Luckily we were able to nab a table in under 15 minutes. Parking in the lower Manhattan area is terrible! You have been warned :) We got a corner table that was right next to the kitchen so we saw all the food and dirty dishes coming in and out. The place was quite packed for a Sunday and there was only 10 tables give or take. We ordered the honey butter pancakes and the Chinatown egg sando. The Chinatown egg sando is just like your typical bacon and egg sandwich. The honey butter pancakes had blueberries on top and was super fluffy which was to die for ! We also ordered the chicken katsu club sandwich but could have done without it. They only have regular coffee to serve which was ok. Wish they had more selections. One oopsie was that the waiter was rushing and he accidentally spilled water all over my lap. Thankfully it was just water and not coffee! Service was decent, they were super busy understandably but they were attentive and didn't make us wait long to order or to get the bill. Will come back again but maybe on a weekday?

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
