Big Steak House! Great Service and Food Quality!! Equally Big $$$!
OK, I recognized Goodman's is a top $ steak house. I was staying in Canary Wharf and looking for a nice dinner. Found Goodman's and went over there. Nice steak selections and excellent service. Steak and food was Outstanding!! Perhaps not quite worth the huge $$$ price. I'd go back, but only with my top Sweetheart (=Wife!)!!
Be the first to ReplyBest Sunday Lunch I've Had
I went for lunch with my husband and son last Sunday and we all agreed that it was the best Roast we've had. The staff are lovely, the service was excellent, the food really fresh and tasty and we'll be going back for more this Sunday..
Be the first to ReplyDelicious steak! Venue needs a refurb or a change of location
So, Hawksmoor Canary Wharf is certainly disappointing. Goodman, luckily, is not. Service is amazing - enthusiastic, knowledgeable, interested, welcoming. The steaks - while no longer showcasing unique and rare cuts like the mayfair flagship once did - are spot on. Absolutely excellent. Best steaks in the wharf. My only complaint is that the location is beginning to look a little tired - and certainly Goodman should be thinking about more prestigious environs.
Be the first to ReplyWas the best steak I’ve had
I booked this on line. Just to meet up with my son which was nice. On entering the staff are really friendly which helps. We both missed breakfast so we were both hungry guys. Looking at the menu it was very impressive and also offering a lunch time menu. They also bring out a large blackboard with different types of steaks and cuts also showing the parts where the cuts of the meat comes from from ,plus countries from Uk to America and far beyond. We were recommended the UK steak.which was grass fed and more juicy. We had a large porterhouse t-bone medium. With triple cooked chips pepper sauce and onions. First the steak was far the best I’ve had ever . Juicy tasty and the onions were just the icing on top. We followed by sweet which was just as good. I’m sure I will be going back very soon
Be the first to ReplyFantastic steak and lovely staff!
We went here for Sunday dinner and had a great meal. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable about the menu offering great recommendations. Staff paid attention as we like a booth so we can sit next to each other and they noticed and offered to move is without asking. It’s the small things that matter. We shared the crab starter which was delicious. We opted for the prawns and Wagyu steak for main meal it was outstanding and without a doubt the best steak I have ever had. It melted in my mouth. It is expensive and therefore would be only now and again. However I would recommend the USDA steak and opt for that next time as it is more reasonably priced and amazing! Win! Win! The desserts were taste bud tangling followed by the assortment of chocolates. The atmosphere is cozy and pleasant. The dishes were delicious as were the wine and cocktail recommendations. The cleanliness was to a high standard. We did enjoy our meal here but did like the whole experience of Goodmans, the City more based on location but they are not dog friendly and Canary Wharf is and they are keen to meet Kali. So we will try Canary Wharf again and let you know …
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best steak restaurants
Just excellent all round. Went here for my birthday with the family. Service was super quick and food was cooked to perfection. Our waiter was very friendly and he was super excellent with the kids as well. Totally worth the money. Had a great birthday here!
Be the first to ReplyWonderful dining experience
What a delightful surprise. We stopped here for an early dinner on our way to London City airport. Staff was impeccable and the dry-aged bone in Rib-eye steak was one of the best we had in the past. We will definitely come back.
Be the first to ReplyTop class service, great food
Returned to Goodman after a break of a few months. We were very well looked after at the bar and in the restaurant. The food was on top form - has to be one of the best burgers in London and Steak Tartare a welcome addition to the menu. This place always runs perfectly when Paulina is around to oversee everything - she is a huge asset to Goodman. Michael our server was also excellent.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent steaks and service - will return!
Really nice setting by the canal, we went in November, but I can imagine sitting outside on a sunny day in spring or a warm summer evening. We went as a family for Saturday lunch and had various steaks, sides and sauces - absolutely superb and plentiful! Quite pricey, but worth it. Service very attentive, informative and polite. When I asked they confirmed the restaurant is dog friendly, so next time we will bring our dog, because we will definitely return. Top class!
Be the first to ReplyGreat meat, but not what it used to be
Goodmans is a staple for those in Canary Wharf. It’s the place for great meat, and great USA wine and your knife with name on it after your Xth visit (or maybe that’s only the City one) :) Sadly it seems to have lost its touch - less USDA, bring in the Canadian steaks. US wine list also greatly diminished - sadly things are not the same after Brexit, but competitors like newly opened Hawksmore in Canary are still setting a high bar. Looking forward to few improvements and going back to the good old times.
Be the first to ReplyGood food great staff
We had a meal with another couple last week and the service was excellent. The management super friendly especially Daren who made us feel very welcome on our first visit. The food was excellent and well explained beforehand. A goof choice of wines with an excellent Sommelier Its tough to find restaurant first time but Would recommend
Be the first to ReplyFantastic lunch and service was 10/10
Visited here for a work lunch earlier this week, was excellent from start to finish. As we arrived, we stood around the bar for a drink or two, the staff were happy for us to sit when we wanted to, there was no rush at all. Once sat, the staff were incredibly knowledgeable about their food, cuts, allergies etc. Took time to explain it to the full group and did a run down of all the steaks. Throughout dinner the staff were attentive, helpful, and even recommended that we had too many sides at one point so should order less, see how we go, and can always order more. After lunch we wanted to stay for another drink outside which they easily accommodated us. Finally needed some taxis to our next stop, which they sorted with ease. Overall, a TOP experience, great food, amazing service from all, and a lovely view of the quay!
Be the first to ReplyLove the new version of the Goodman Burger
We were scheduled to eat at the Mayfair location, but had to switch to Canary Wharf. Everyone was so friendly and even gave us drinks for the inconvenience. Most importantly, the food was excellent and I was bad and finished my meal with the sundae. Just got to walk away those pounds and plan another visit...
Be the first to ReplyIncredible steak and service
Don’t usually bother leaving reviews but such was our experience I had to. From the moment we arrived the staff and in particular our waitress were very attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. The food was incredible, if you are visiting make sure you order the truffle chips 😍 you can share a portion between two. We made the mistake of ordering one each. Steak cooked to perfection and the wine choice was so vast. We went for an Argentinian Malbec which didn’t disappoint. Thank you again!! Will definitely be returning.
Be the first to ReplySuperb!
In a beautiful location on the water, this place maintains the great reputation of its city siblings. Our original reservation was to the Mayfair location, which was shut down temporarily. The way to Canary Wharf became easy with the new Elizabeth Line. Upon entry we were greeted with complimentary drinks as an apology to the change in reservation. A nice opening to the main event: top class meat perfectly cooked, accompanied by delicious starters and sides (notably the divine Mac & cheese!). That with the swift and pleasant service makes it my favorite London steakhouse
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding, change nothing
Goodman takes their straks seriously. I had an outstanding T-bone stake, a beautiful Brunello and cheese for desert. Loved it. This great meal was elevated by superb service. It is very rare to have a waiter who thinks with you, not to sell you more food, but to make the meal and experience better. If this would be the standard, 95% of restaurants could close.
Be the first to ReplyThe best steak in the UK!
It's hard to get a really good steak in the UK but after a dozen visits to the Goodmans chain in London, they have never failed to deliver world-class beef. I'm partial to corn-fed ribeye and their excellent cooking of quality USDA imported beef puts you in mind of the very best chop houses of New York or Chicago. There's also a large range of English grass-fed cuts too. In short, if steak is your thing - this is the place for you. The service is also first-class: from the maitre'd to the table waiters, they are all attentive, pleasant and really know their stuff. I watched with admiration as the table next to me had a full 5-minute explanation of the different styles (including the samples) from a lovely friendly waitress - who then returned for a further 5-minutes to help the table decide. It's not cheap, but this is first-rate quality that will not disappoint.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Halal Steaks
Amazing cuts of halal steak. Not cheap, I had the a USDA cut that was approx £68 for the steak and my wife had a ribeye which was about £45 but came with chips. These are proper steaks. Most halal steak restaurants are just pretenders serving cheaper cuts and/or do not know how to cook them but you have none of those issues here. I didn’t have to preorder the steak, just called up and confirmed they had cuts available and they did. Service from Luca was amazing. We did have a doggy bag packed of the amazing sides we had left over but left it in the table :(
Be the first to ReplyGood Food and Excellent Service
We booked a work dinner here whilst exhibiting at Excel. We received a warm welcome and staff were 'on it' in every respect throughout the evening. The ambience here is more cafe-like than Goodmans Mayfair (which feels much more special) and it takes a slight edge off the experience when paying a lot of money for your food. However, the service from all staff was fantastic - they gave time to chat and discuss the menu and wine options - all a part of what is needed after the past two years! Hats off to whoever trains the staff at Goodmans. The only very small downside was the price of the steak on the specials board - I don't think I could taste whether my 'special' ribeye was worth £20 more than the standard one... All-in-all, I'd definitely go back.
Be the first to ReplyTop class!
Top quality on both food and service! We had the oysters/tuna tartare for starters and for main course perfectly cooked (French medium rare) fillets that were so tasty that we wouldn't really have needed any of the sides or sauces. But we did have them and they were also really good.
Be the first to ReplyThe steak was not great, prawn tempura was better
This is probably a hit harsh, but I used to visit goodman regularly across the franchises and the usda beef was always so buttery delicious that you died right there. Now, the usda beef is good but nothing special and I may regret my choice. I had a £130 porterhouse and it wasn't special. This is why I give a 3 star, because, it's the steak I wanted.
However, the tempura prawn starter was amazing, it really was better than the steak. That shouldn't be happening.
The staff was also very friendly albeit a bit slow at time, but most of them try their best.
In summary, this will be the last time I visit goodman and it really hurts me. Goodbye goodman, I will cherish the memories but not the last steak you served me.
Best streak in London
Always go Goodmans when in London best steak in town. Food was excellent again this time, had grass-fed sirloin.. sides all excellent.
Even better if... service little slow at start, choice on chalk board relatively small as early eve would have hoped to have bone in rib eye... please add Chimichurra as option for sauce. Otherwise another excellent eve with beautifully cooked steak..
60th birthday meal
Went to Goodmans today in the horrendous weather, was warmly welcomed as soon as we walked in. Water and bread provided straight away whilst we decided on drinks and food. Our Hungarian waiter was very well mannered and very helpful providing all the information about the steaks. Our waitress was very nice too, friendly and although she made a mistake on the order and some had to wait a while, but Ash (lovely guy) took it off the bill. Due to inconvenience we didn't have to pay for the birthday dessert. They sang Happy birthday as it was presented and birthday boy was very happy with food service and Strawberry Daquaris to die for. Steaks were delicious and great chips. All in all a very lovely experience. 5 people left feeling very full and not one complaint regarding food or anything. Expensive, but great for a special occasion.
Be the first to ReplyFull marks once again
We go to Goodman’s every year for our Xmas/end of year dinner but due to Covid, yesterday (18th February) was the earliest we could all make it. And once again, we weren’t disappointed.
You can read in the other reviews all about the choice of steaks, how they’re described and presented and indeed, how they’re priced (if you want a cheap burger, go to McDonald’s) but a special shout out must go to Eaco, our server, adviser and guide.
He explained all the various options from both the blackboard and the printed menu and had the world of patience with all the questions, most coming from those for whom this was their first time at a Goodman’s. He walked over to our group regularly to check that everything was OK and if we needed anything else but where he excelled was with the lady (can I still say that?) next to me who asked for her rib-eye to be cooked MW as she didn’t want to see any blood. I noticed that while her steak looked MW on the outside, once she cut into it, there was more pink than not. I suggested she send it back, but she refused saying she didn’t want to make a fuss. However, Eaco was walking by and noticed this. He asked if she was OK with the rib-eye as he remembered her saying “MW, no blood” and offered to take it back to the kitchen, She kept saying “No, no, no – it’s alright” but Eaco wasn’t having any of it. He picked up her plate and took it back to the kitchen whereupon it was delivered back to her exactly how she had requested it. Full marks Eaco – you were a star.
After having desserts, we were just about able to waddle to the cars and reflect on just how great a place Goodman’s is and why we will keep returning.
Top class steakhouse
Top class steaks from all four corners of the globe. So much choice here, opted for a half ribeye and half rib eye which was outstanding. The sides were very tasty indeed. Very pricey so not a place to visit every weekend unless you can afford it. Makes a nice treat to eat these steaks that you cannot usually find.
