After all of the hype about the quality and variety of burgers on the menu, we were really excited to try Gordon Ramsay' Burger in Planet Hollywood. We made a reservation for 6:00 p.m. which was a must because the line to get in wrapped around the corner. We arrived about 5 minutes early. The young hostess checked us in and had us wait off to the side (she seemed to be bothered that we were early). After about 8 minutes or so, we were escorted to our table beside the giant flaming wall that anchors the exterior of the restaurant. Before we even sat down, you could feel the heat coming off of the wall, so we requested to sit elsewhere. The girl seemed very put out and escorted us to the bar in front of the cook line. There were 4 empty seats with 2 at the end that would not leave us cramped between 2 other couples. She said the 2 at the end had no server assigned. We asked if there was another table available (there were SEVERAL) and she basically said take it or leave it and walked off. We decided to stay since one of the couples was finishing up. We waited on our server for about 10-12 minutes and ordered drinks. It was SO loud in the restaurant, we could barely hear her and each other throughout the course of the evening. While we did enjoy watching the line work, we noticed several "un-Gordon Ramsay" things happening. For example, he constantly harps on his shows about using fresh cut potatoes for fries. Every fry we observed came right from a brown paper freezer bag. While the burgers were supposed to be cooked to order, there was one station dedicated to buns that became a parking lot with them stacked everywhere on the grill, so you know they were not fresh when they made it to the burger. We noticed several items placed under a not plate in front of the chef that either came out too early or were part of an incomplete order. One of the "chefs" (she was wearing a white jacket, had very long acrylic nails, and long black hair not put up or in a net) was filling the ketchup and mayo ramekins while scratching the side of her ear and head the entire time (very unsanitary). When we finally ordered, it took well over 30 minutes to get our dinner. I ordered the Euro Burger (MR) and my husband ordered the Backyard Burger (M). We both ordered fries - I got truffle parm and he got just fries. When our dinner finally arrived, it was very cold. The quality of the meat was underwhelming and the patties were not plump and juicy at all. The goat cheese on the Euro burger was cold and just slapped on as an afterthought. It did not cover the entire burger. The Backyard burger was dry (lots of ketchup intervention) and slightly over M. The fries were not crispy and had clearly been sitting for a while. We didn't bother complaining or sending anything back because we would have been there easily another hour (burgers were stacking up on the line). Overall, it was a highly disappointing experience. The burgers are WAY overpriced for the lack of quality. For such a limited menu, one would think the quality would be exceptional. It wasn't. Skip it and go to Whataburger or Wendy's. If you want a good in-dining experience, we suggest the Yard House at the Linq, which has actual quality burgers, better service, and a more extended menu.
