Gracias Madre Newport Beach Reviews from The Last Year
Amazing vegan restaurant .
My favorite dish that I got was the enchiladas and beans. Everything comes fresh and organic. They also have good margaritas
Food is bland no flavor no sauces that it comes with.
I can cook better than this cook.
Food good, solid, but nothing to cry home about, really
Food good, solid, but nothing to cry home about, really good taco, the sauce is good, chips were really good, NA drinks were really good. Fantastic service, everyone was so kind. Ambiance was nice, could have been a little better with the lights down and different music but nothing really to complain about. If you are vegan, for sure recommend
Came here when I was dating a Vegan girl.
Ambience was fantastic in comparison to other Vegan establishments visited, as well as food presentation. The food itself I guess you could say tested a little better then other vegan spots, however still bland and pretty much everything tastes the same.
Beautiful restaurant.
Indoor and outdoor seating available. Some of the best vegan food I've had. Everything was flavorful and filling. The menu had so many great options to choose from. Staff was friendly and attentive.
Renowned for their delicious plant-based Mexican cuisine.
They have unique dishes including a tower of spuds, huevos rancheros, and personally my favorite dish, their take on a Tacobell Crunchwrap!! The restaurant features a nice, relaxing outdoor seating that contributed to a positive dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant for both vegans and non-vegans alike seeking tasty, innovative Mexican food in a welcoming atmosphere right by the beach.
The food and service was good for it being a vegan
The food and service was good for it being a vegan restaurant. I understand the location has a-lot to do with the price but I did think it was a little steep for what you get. For instance I ordered french toast and I believe it was like 20 dollars for two slices The ambiance is nice, definitely an ig food spot.
Great ambience- the patio is so warm and lively.
Honestly I loved the idea of vegan Mexican food in theory but the food was kind of bland! The best things our table got were the queso fundido (but very small portion) and the crunch wrap (huge portion). The rest was all kind of bland, missing the spice and flavors I associate with authentic Mexican food. My enchiladas de calabaza were just a mushy pile of something kind of sweet. Most of the time, when I eat at a traditional Mexican restaurant, I'm basically eating vegetarian anyway, so I'm not some meat-lover. But this menu was just kind of mid. Even the hot sauce was pretty bland. Overall it's a fun night out but not super satisfying Mexican food IMO, and that's not because it was missing meat- it was missing flavor.

My boyfriend and I went here last year and the food was AMAZING! I had the elote and it was delicious, with great seasoning. However! the services was extremely slow, and we had a flight to catch afterward which made it a bit of a stressful visit. The server was plenty sweet and kind, just very slow in taking our orders, getting the food, and giving us the check. Snails pace! We left the restaurant older than were when we came in.

The space is beautiful, the staff is lively and very attentive. The food... for the hype that is created, my party expected more. The best dish was the queso fundido and guava cheesecake. Other items, like the green pozole and madre bowl, lacked flavor. Reviews of late say the same thing in regards to taste. Let's add a bit more spice, chef?
Grand Slam Homerun
Was razzed and heckled all day by colleagues and selecting a Vegan Mexican Restaurant. The Guacamole was solid. The Spicy and Sweet Cauliflower was excellent, reminded me of the Indian Dish Aloo Gobbi. For mains; two colleagues had Tacos. All were rated as good. The Fuerte Cruchwrap with the addition of Al Pastor Mushrooms was truly spectacular. The flavors melded perfectly together. The quantity was excellent. We shared Pineapple Upside Down Cake and Chocolate Olive Oil Cake. Both were good, with the Chocolate the winner. Emma led amazing service, cordial and assisting in selecting. After dinner it was all accolades, that continued into the following day.
Vegan Mexican Cuisine at a New Level
Gracias Madre takes vegan cuisine to a new level. Everything we ate that evening was super delicious. Service is friendly and very attentive. Since we had excellent appetizers (queso fundido, crab cakes) we went for smaller entrees which made the tacos a logical choice. The two tacos I had (asada, parm) were, again, excellent, and the rest of the party was very happy with their choices. The selection of wines is somewhat limited, but to have a Txacoli from Basque Country in the wine list is a rare find. Seating outside was cozy, and patio heaters were on. The only negative impression was the annoyingly loud level of background music (rap, for a good part of the evening). Nobody I saw at the restaurant seemed to listen or care about the music, but they turned it up anyway, maybe because they could, and uninterrupted conversation at the tables might not be appreciated.
