Gracias Madre West Hollywood Reviews from The Last Year
Gracias to Gracias Madre
As a vegetarian, how amazing it is to look at a menu and know I could order anything offered without giving it a second thought! There were so many choices! We started with chips, guacamole and salsa. The chips were amazing! Each of our entrees were delicious with many ingredients. This meant there were so many flavors and textures. The portions were filling. Service was great; the staff were quick and responsive. For a Thursday evening, the place was bustling! I recommend this restaurant highly.
Somewhere Somehow someone decided to make a mushroom taco.
I like to think that person was a mushroom forager, strange types of people these mushroom foragers, always wandering the forest, looking at the patterning, growth and spores and trying best to distinguish between the culinary and the poisoness the tasty and the ordinary the mundane and the beautiful I don't know what prompted him (or her) to fry a couple tortillas, throw on a Nina Simone album and grab a handful of mushrooms for taco filling, but let me assure you that the chef's creation is very much appreciated these days and word has it you can come on down to Gracias Madre and purchase your very own plate of mushroom tacos in all their butter and salt and glory and enjoy them under the West Hollywood evening glow.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in LA.
The food is great and they have lots of interesting drinks/cocktails. It's a "vegan" restaurant, but vegetarians and meat eaters will likely enjoy it too. The large outdoor seating area is a nice place to eat, but the indoor seating area is a lot quieter. If you're looking for a unique and lively place to try, this is a great option. Parking is a bit hard to find, but there are a lot of metered spots in the area as well as a public city garage about a block away, near the West Hollywood library.
I went for my friend's birthday so I got to try several
I went for my friend's birthday so I got to try several dishes starting from the chips and salsa (which personally I think Trader Joe's chips is so much better). We got the Tacos Ahogados, Enchiladas Verdes, Chile Relleno, Tamal De Calabaza and a side of the fried mushrooms. Everything taste very bland for us and its not worth the price. At the end of the meal, they gave my friend a small birthday dessert (none of my friends and I order the dessert) and they charged us $18 for it..
Came for a birthday brunch.
I have dined for dinner before and was not the biggest fan of the food but love the service and ambiance. I am very vegan and have worked in the industry for quite some time. We got the nachos and ceviche to start. Ceviche was very fresh, couldd use more citrus and seasoning but still good. Nachos were massive and delicious. Wasn't a fan of the soyrizo but it was easily avoidable as a shared plate. For entrees my family ordered the gorditas with chicharron, wet burrito, madre burger and chilaquiles. The chilaquiles were not good. Sauce tasted a little old and the chips were very soggy. Chilaquiles have different styles varying from crunchy to sauce-filled but they were soggy and a little dry and not sure how that could even happen. The burger was really good and my little brother ordered it who is not a fan of vegan food. He usually only eats the vegan food I cook because I know his flavors and preferences but he ate this one without a problem. The burrito was decent. Great size but, like the chilaquiles, the red sauce needs some work. It tastes okay. And very light on the vegan protein and lots of beans in the burrito. Gorditas were best thing I've eaten there. The masa was delicious, tasted fresh and authentic. The mushroom chicharron, although not very much of it, was delicious. I will return for the gorditas and ceviche. Also Kennedy, the server, always so amazing. Staff is so nice
One of my favorite restaurants! I'm not vegan but
One of my favorite restaurants! I'm not vegan but everything here is delicious and so flavorful. Some of my favorites are the queso, crab cakes, and tacos. They also make great cocktails and have good brunch food as well. The ambiance and service are also great. The restaurant is decorated well and also has a huge patio.
Two stars for amazing ambiance, perfect service and
Two stars for amazing ambiance, perfect service and delicious drinks. But everything we ordered food wise was lacking in taste. I understand that it's fully plant based and meat alternatives, but spices and herbs might help out with how bland our dishes were. I've had delicious vegan options at home/restaurants that put heart into their food. I would come back but only for the drinks and hit up The Butchers Daughter's for food.
Looks like something has changed here with drinks.
I came here more than 50+ times over years with no complaints and drinks we all had today were very sweet and nothing compared to what you can have next door at Great White or anywhere in Weho. If you continue doing this, you'll lose Weho soon.
Love love love love love love.
Environment. Ingredients. Service. Location. Not so much, parking. My recommendation is anything using jackfruit.

Food was great, service was awesome and ambiance was on point. Came here with a group to have dinner and couldn't have asked for a better place. Drinks were decent but are in the pricey side. I would definitely come back again, especially for a date.
Hmmm interesting visit this time.
I was the first to arrive in my party and was seated right away. Our server Daniella took my drink order and then decided that she didn't want to wait on us and passed us on to another waitress! At first I thought well perhaps her shift is about to be over but it was not at all the case. We watched her welcome and take care of all of the table's surrounding us as well as new people coming to sit in our exact same area! My other friend finally found parking and joined us. Our new waitress Baylee was super on point, professional and sweet. I'm giving Baylee a strong 5 stars and will come back. But a note to management: Retrain Daniella :(
A little over priced for the amount you get but can't
A little over priced for the amount you get but can't complain too much. The waitress was so sweet and mushroom quesadilla was amazing.
It's not authentic.
. the food is eateble but not tasty .. I just don't come again. If you are looking for a Mexican food, go somewhere else
Exceptional food and service
Very approachable restaurant, with attentive service good food and drinks. Comfortable sitting, with a nice decor inside and out.
Mexican vegan
Casual, very good vegan cafe, with nice atmosphere, good mexican dishes. It seems to be trendy and i noticed a lot of friends gatherings.
Unhelpful
Picked this place for our last lunch in LA . I obviously have a physical problem . I walk with a cane and struggle sitting in certain seats . I asked if I could use a cushion from another chair to help me. The young lady said NO you can’t . At first I thought it was a joke . The restaurant was not busy . My husband repeated request followed by the same answer. The waiter took our order then when he came back he got it wrong then spilled my drink. Didn’t clean it up . I had to take a napkin from other table to dry it up myself. I was very disappointed in our whole experience. Especially the cushion , It made me feel very uncomfortable and self conscious . I haven’t felt like this anywhere I’ve been in California this trip . Most places ive visited have been very helpful and made me feel very comfortable.
Love the vibe - food used to be better
I loved Gracias Madre when it first opened. The menu is amazing and the ambience is great. Love the outdoors space at night too! Service is great but food just isn't the same. Today I went for lunch and ordered a salad with Taco/Walnut meat. It came out with a table spoon of that mix over green leaves. Such a shame.
Barely mediocre
Overall unimpressed. The food was mediocre at best. My $9 bowl of chips and salsa included at least 50% crushed fragments of chips. For $9 I expect every chip to be perfectly triangular. Then when I ran out of salsa, served in a tiny little bowl. I asked for some more cells up. I was brought out a $3.25 2 oz small salsa, as the receipt says. Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of money, and I'm willing to spend any amount if the meal is top notch. But this restaurant is overrated and underperforms. The dining room, indoor and outdoor, is relatively nice. The bathroom is clean. The servers and post staff were friendly. I'd give service a 4 out of five.
Excellent Atmosphere, Food and Service!
Who knew vegan Mexican food would be so good! Loved the atmosphere. We sat outside on the patio; loved it! Our waitress was exceptional; very friendly and happy! My only regret is I forgot to purchase a cookbook! I will be back on our next trip to this area!

How do you set a timeline for getting your bid accepted? I can’t wait till the actual time I want to go. I want to know at least eight hours ahead of time. How do you do that?
