Great food and environment.
Our service was super sweet. Great for date night or girls night out.

I recently had dinner here on New Year's Eve and absolutely loved the ambiance! It feels classy, but not too uptight. It was busy, but didn't feel too loud or crowded and the service was great! We started with the whitefish spread which was absolutely delicious and the bread with it was a great addition to the plate. We split a seafood tower between the three of us for dinner. It was lovely, but could've used some more dips/sauces for the various components. It was not terribly filling, so if you're looking for a lighter option this would be perfect!I will say the prices are a little steep for what they are offering.

All the seafoods are great! Clam Chowder is a must and mussels and oysters are also great! Everything is so great! Everyone works here is so kind (well, the hostess was not, from our last visit. She kept us holding our coats when she knew that we were waiting on her for coat check. She was just standing at the podium and pretended like she didn't see us. She had this attitude like it's not her job. Maybe because the restaurant was closing?) Just so sad that they are closing! So many memories at this place. I'm going to miss this place so much!

Horrible service and even worse food, it is a complete joke. Supposedly closing and running skeleton catering crew, however, who even runs this concept and is behind this place financially is at best a kindergarten cop. Place blows bottom line.
Be the first to ReplyAwesome food service.
We were late to our reservation by almost 30 mins but host was nice enough to get us a seat. Everything we tried was fresh and tasty.. I visited this place after almost 5 years and quality and service remain same
Be the first to ReplyThis would have been a five star review except for one
This would have been a five star review except for one thing. First, food was excellent. This was an appetizer and oyster night. Everything was fresh and delicious. No complaints. Second, the service was top notch. Very attentive staff. It seemed like we had five people waiting on me and my wife. Potions were ample and priced accordingly. The beef? How do you charge $32 for a Woodford old fashioned? I travel way too much and go to too many high rent districts to get charged that much.$17.00 for an amaretto and coffee? Yowzer! So what should have been a reasonable evening, was made a bit larger by this disparity in pricing. An extra $50 I figure. And last little insult: in small print they let you know there will be 3,% service charge. Please don't ask me to subsidize your payroll. I tip more than 20%. But when I see this stuff, I tent to get put off. We will go back, but we will go the wine route.

Excellent service, our server Alex was friendly and attentive. The space is really beautiful. The cocktails were great and I loved the wine selection. The tuna ceviche with shrimp chips starter was a small portion but tasty. The scallops were delicious but 3 scallops for $49 is absurd. My friend had the fish and chips which were terrific, upscale pub style, and also a huge portion. All of the desserts were incredible, despite my cheesecake looking more like an art project than dessert. The zeppoles were *chefs kiss*. Overall, I think GT is worth the visit: the food is great, the restaurant is beautiful, and the service is above par. I just hope they figure out who they are as a restaurant and what they want to be conceptually. Down to earth classics like the fish and chips that are so good you'll start singing God Save the Queen (RIP ER) or overwrought dishes like the scallops that require a slice of pizza to be had after the dinner.
Be the first to ReplyHad reservations for this restaurant for our anniversary
Had reservations for this restaurant for our anniversary dinner and they called me three times the day of the reservation. First to say they had to move it back 30 minutes. Fine no big deal. Then they call me to say the restaurant won't be opening and want me to go to their sister restaurant GT prime. If I wanted to go to a steakhouse I would've booked a steakhouse, not a seafood restaurant. Awesome. Had a hotel booked for the night and good luck getting a high end seafood restaurant booked the day of in Chicago. Nothing offered to us other than a restaurant that we don't want to go to. Amazing.

One of the best meals I've had in a while- nothing was left behind! We ordered to share family style, and it did not disappoint. Every dish was flavorful by itself yet complemented well together. The service was very attentive, and we never felt rushed. The prices are on the higher end, but an overall great experience.

My husband and I went to GT Fish & Oysters to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The service was amazing and they even gave us a cute little free dessert and two glasses of complimentary wine, I really really wanted to like their food. We got roasted oysters and a half dozen raw oysters as appetizers, they were pretty good! But the main entrées were underwhelming especially for their high prices. I got the salmon which was interesting, the sauce and the veggies underneath it just didn't go well with the salmon. So my husband finished it and I had his fish and chips instead- also average. :( The old fashioned cocktail was pretty bad too. Again our server and everyone working there was great, just felt the food and drinks could be better.

We were excited to visit this place from all the great reviews. But little did we know they were still operating on a "COVID Menu". Meaning the menu was either reduced or items on the menu were not available. We arrived at the restaurant 45mins early to our reservation & were told we had to wait for our table to be ready. Mind you there were plenty of open tables for a party of 3. The table we were finally seated at was empty the entire 20mins we waited to be sat.We ordered our appetizer & our entrees shortly after. We waited over an hour before our entrees met ourtable. It wasn't until after we complained to the restaurant manager that any food was actually served. The food we received was bland, dry, and lackluster. For a seafood restaurant you would think the fish and chips and Wild Alaskan halibut would be on point. NEGATIVE! I don't believe it's fair to advertise great service & great food and not deliver. By far the worst culinary experience of my Chicago visit.Food was so bad we only took two photo. Definitely nothing to write home about the roasted oysters were good. Just wish they were more or even bigger for $29!
Be the first to ReplyDelicious oysters + Sauvignon blanc.
Easy to make reservations on Open Table. On the expensive side - wish there were more seafood places around, but this is a great option taking people or come for date night. There is a happy hour which gets you half off oysters - so if you can make it, that's a good deal! Would def come back for HH!
Be the first to ReplyI was looking for nice seafood restaurant around downtown
I was looking for nice seafood restaurant around downtown and decided to try this place. Ordered lobster roll didn't really like it. Quality of food not matching with the price, for simple tasteless food is overpriced. Also ordered fish and chips, it was below average. Some regular Irish bars can make it way better than here. But customer service was good. They need to improve food in the kitchen.
Be the first to ReplyDecided to try something new for a birthday celebration.
Saw the good reviews and figured we were safe, but ended up very disappointed. Started with the focaccia which was fresh, fluffy and delicious. However, that's pretty much where the positives ended. Oysters were extremely subpar (not sure if it was just the batch or what), tuna crudo was oily and salty to the point we had to send it back, and the scallops were actually pretty good, but only got 3 for $50. On top of this, their whisky prices are some of the most absurd I've seen, and they were out of the eagle rare. Overall, this was an extremely disappointing experience and felt like a waste of $180. For the price, there are way better options in the city.

Had the best time celebrating a birthday here! The fish was fresh and the service was outstanding. They were included in the CRW list and the portions were more than enough and everything was delicious! The key lime bar was so good! I was not expecting it to be that delicious! The roasted oysters were delicious, we regretted not ordering more! The salmon poke was so fresh and crisp, & the octopus was a different twist & taste to what I'm used to. They even customize menus for birthdays. Highly recommend if you're into seafood!

I was disappointed in my meal this past weekend and I had been sooo looking forward to the dinner. We ordered the seafood tower for $180 and it just wasn't good: the crab was not tasty at all and I hated the oysters, couldn't eat them. I normally LOVE oysters, these were just very fishy tasting and didn't taste fresh. The branzino was very good but the tower was a huge disappointment. Service was excellent. I visit a lot of seafood restaurants and have had much better food overall.
Be the first to ReplyPhenomenal raw bar!I tried every raw oyster off the current
Phenomenal raw bar!I tried every raw oyster off the current selection - they have a great selection of oysters from Massachusetts to Washington, etc. There's definitely something for every oyster preference, whether you prefer briny, sweet, meaty, or fresh and clean. The crab legs were also amazing. Everything tastes super fresh. The clam chowder is a great soup but more soup than chowder. That being said, it was delicious as a soup. The caesar salad did not taste like a caesar salad but was also a delicious salad. I would definitely recommend GT for a raw bar.

Everything was delicious! We had oysters, the branzino, mussels, lobster roll (buttered soft bread with fresh sweet lobster), and octopus. Service was excellent and would recommend!

..Restaurant presents well...Staff are friendly, service is extremely attentive, kitchen is super organized and tidy (as seen from the bar)...Came for Happy Hour and stayed for dinner as it was that good! All the food was fresh, tasty and portioned perfectly. We were wonderfully surprised that the oyster description matched the actual taste... great job.My highest recommendation of GO and enjoy a wonderful meal served by a wonderful staff.
Be the first to ReplyThis is an outstanding restaurant.
We started with the octopus and tuna poke appetizers- both delicious. We then had a round of oysters which were awesome too. We shared a broccoli salad and the trout. The trout was AMAZING. A must order. Finished the meal with quite possibly the best key lime pie I have ever had. Highly recommend!!!!!

The Tuna Poke was a delight with lots of flavor. We had a nice Albariño with the meal that was perfect. My Branzino was perfect with nice polenta and artichokes. My wife had the fish and chips which was light and fluffy. The fries were average. Kristina was terrific on the service!
