Hamlet & Ghost Saratoga Springs Reviews from The Last Year
Exceptional food, excellent service and good prices.
Highly recommend this restaurant!
Scary Dining Experience at Hamlet and Ghost
My husband and I dined here with another couple. While they ordered the double cheeseburger, we ordered haddock and breast of duck dinners. The servings were so small that they looked ridiculous on the plates. But that was the least of the problems. The waiter told me that the chef recommended the duck cooked medium rare. I never like food prepared like that so I should have declined but I didn't. The meat was decidedly undercooked and tasted terrible. I couldn't finish it and definitely did not want to take the rest home. There was some other kind of meager vegetable serving that was edible, barely. My husband's haddock was virtually tasteless. We had no appetizers, our dinners, two beers and one drink, coffee and desert for $160+ not including tip. We will not be going back. It's just not worth it.
All the above.
Craft cocktails and flavors from all cultures on one menu. Service was excellent but don't expect quick meal. Chill atmosphere, not too loud and exactly what you'd expect from this type of dining experience.
Best cocktails in the upstate area.
You know it's a great place when they have large clear ice for their drinks. Highly recommend.
I have had many enjoyable dining experiences here.
The atmosphere is cozy and the food is good. I am not saying I won't return, either. However, $25 for FIVE oysters ? I went in with my fiance for oysters and a cocktail. We asked how many oysters come in the order and were shocked to learn it was FIVE. FIVE ?!? There are two of us, you can't share an order of five oysters. So what do you do? Order two orders? For $50!?!?!? I don't mind paying for oysters but $5 per oyster is laughably high. Last time I saw oysters that expensive was at Nobu in NYC, this is Saratoga, in January at that. Come on We left and went to 30 lake and enjoyed a dozen delicious oysters.
Holy crap.
Love the hipster atmosphere, cocktails were great, service was extremely friendly / accommodating, and some of the best food I've had. The attention to detail is really impressive, down to the fancy / fully clear ice cubes they apparently purchase from the 'Ice Man' for their cocktails. Who else does that? Evan the bartender told me the chef also hand picks the hedgehog mushrooms for the dishes. I had the pork loin, so many complex flavors going on, I contemplated licking the plate. Highly recommend, it lived up to the hype.
Stopped in for cocktails.
Won't again. Putting this much ice in a drink is a real asshole thing to do.
Great food & excellent service!! Need reservations so book
Great food & excellent service!! Need reservations so book early especially during track season
I used to love this place and I never care about paying
I used to love this place and I never care about paying their prices cause it was good. But it's getting crazy, 5 Oysters for $25 and they had crush ice on them. Who wants to eat oysters this ice at the price. On top they are charging a kitchen Administration Fee on your check. It's kind of ridiculous. Never come back I get better Oyster at 30 Lake restaurant for $3 each and $2 for happy hour without extra fee

My husband and I don't go out to dinner very often but when
My husband and I don't go out to dinner very often but when we do, Hamlet and Ghost is always our go-to. Last night we went for their NYE 5-course dinner and had the best time. The ambiance is always fabulous, but my favorite time of year to dine there is around the holidays when they've decked the restaurant out in string lights, ornaments hanging from the ceiling, and cozy yet beautiful decorations. The food is always 5 stars, and their NYE menu was nothing short of that. Such inventive, impressive, and delicious options. And don't get me started on their cocktail menu... I swear H&G has the best drinks you can find in Saratoga. The service is outstanding every single time we are there. We love seeing Liam when we go in, a veteran server at H&G who does a perfect job every time and never makes you feel like he doesn't have time to share some laughs with you despite how busy he may be. Evan, one of their super talented bartenders, took care of us last night and made sure we had the best experience. They are both a true delight to the service industry!
Very charming place with superb food and drinks.
What an amazing place this is for a night out for dinner and a drink. Every time I have been here the food is always excellent. And the wine is delicious too. The ambiance has a cozy charm and I highly recommend it.
Limited Menu
Tried this place for the first time with friends who love eating here. Overall I was a bit disappointed with the limited menu, and the over salted food. The wine list was also limited. They did have a decent list of craft cocktails but sizes of drinks were very small. I wouldn’t eat here again.

Dinner at Hamlet & Ghost started off promising and ended with disappointment. Our server was very friendly. A number of menu items weren’t available at 7:30. The cheese curds were delicious. The BBQ oyster mushrooms were swimming in oil and very salty. We then waited 45 minutes for our entree (halibut) which was dry and also over-salted and not at all flavorful. We then waited and waited for the bill. When it finally came our server had voluntarily removed the charge for the mushrooms even though we only commented on the saltiness after being asked what we thought. During dinner, in full view of the bar staff, a very drunk customer came over to our table “to talk”. It was super uncomfortable and an ambiance we had never experienced in a highly reviewed restaurant. It’s possible that we just showed up on the wrong night and should have not sat in the bar area. The restaurant is aspirational, but not very good at execution. We regretted the choice of Hamlet and Ghost for our one night in Saratoga Springs.

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
