Delicious, fresh hand rolls I went during lunchtime and I got the lunch special! For $21, I got a curry coquette (potato katsu) and three handrolls!! The potatoes were so delicate and crispy, and not oily at all from the frying! For the handrolls, I got the spicy tuna, yellowtail, and salmon.. they were are SO good. The fish was so good and melts in your mouth!!! The service was also quick and the staff was attentive! They also give you a complementary tamago at the end which was so light and airy. 10/10 will come back!
Be the first to ReplyGreat go to for good handroll sushi.
Ambiance is great and styling fits the mood. Limited seats and parking can be a pain, but fairly common in some areas of the heights. Service is good. Highly recommend any specials or their oyster roll.
Be the first to ReplyI came to Hando's on a whim for dinner.
It was really chill vibes and seemed to be a good mix of regulars and newcomers. I had a steak and egg maki, scallop skewers, and a yellow maki. The food was really filling and flavorful. My favorite was the yellow tail maki. The cake at the end was a really nice touch as well. They have a good selection of vegetarian items which I would be interested to try with my daughter. I also kept hearing different music from what was playing and found out there is a speakeasy (with a front window) connected with a different drink menu.
Be the first to ReplyLoved going here.
The whole experience is so intimate. Everyone there was so friendly and knowledgeable. The service was quick and they make your rolls right in front of you. For the food, everything was pretty much amazing. My favorite had to be the scallop hand rolls. I got it both ways, spicy and not. Both amazing!! Oh and I got several negitoro rolls. They were so addictive!!

The freshest sushi ever! Excellent service and the food is delicious. It's close quarters, but once you get over people sitting pretty close next to you, it's great. A bit pricy but definitely worth it for the experience.
Be the first to ReplyThe drinks! This ube drink was one of our favorites.
I was going into this restaurant thinking I would get handies' like sushi but it didn't quite meet expectations but worth a try because of the drinks and ambience.

First impression was friendly knowledgeable staff, small but appropriate menu, and my food came out fast, and the items that were meant to be hot were indeed hot. The veggies in the hand rolls were crunchy, rice was perfect, and sushi itself was light and refreshing as sushi should be. I love the feel of the bar only aesthetic, and you can tell they take pride in cleanliness . Only thing stopping from being a 5 was lack of a dessert option. Maybe a mochi or little pastry of sorts to finish the meal in the future?
Be the first to ReplyI had a great experience at Hando's happy hour.
The vibe was speakeasy, good music. Got a little crowded as time passed. Service was quick but not that personable probably because it was busy. I ordered the Shibuya Roll Call, I loved the ginger beer. The drink was on point and the apps were delicious too. Apps ordered - Curry Croquettes, Geso Karaage, Crisp Nori Chips, and Wasabi Shumai. All had good favor and prepared well.

Alberto literally made our rolls and it was life changing! Next time we go, we will only request to have Alberto make our rolls. JJ services was soooo good too. He was literally making conversation with us. Highly recommend!!

Have been hearing about this place for years and finally went tonight. Hand rolls were 10/10 for me so fresh and delicious, the blue crab hand roll and the shrimp katsu HR were my personal favorites. Service was incredible they were checking on us constantly and chefs were so nice they make the HRs in front of you. There is not much seating inside, there is only bar top seating. Parking lot is also pretty small with limited spaces. Happy hour is from 3-6pm and cocktails are $7 and bar eats $5. This is definitely going to become a regular spot for me I can't wait to return!
Be the first to ReplyI used to really like hando but I don't think I'll be back
I used to really like hando but I don't think I'll be back for a while. First off, I love how they give you a wipe to clean your hands with and a little tamago dessert after you finish eating. The hand roll sets are a great value and their drinks are decently priced (if you go during happy hour). The reason why I'm not fond of it anymore is the amount of rice that they put in the hand rolls. I'd presume this was when they had a change of personnel. I gave it time but these hand rolls are still very heavy on the rice, so it takes away from the flavor of the fish and it falls apart. I've watched them make the hand rolls (out of curiosity) and it blows me away how much is put in them. Hopefully I'm not the only one who noticed but if that is really what it's come to, I hope it gets better in time.. especially when they open their spring branch location. The service is good because they are very attentive. Just know that you won't be able to be seated unless everyone from your "party" is all there
Be the first to ReplyI recently ordered from DoorDash and I was just so
I recently ordered from DoorDash and I was just so disappointed, the chicken skewers specially. It was not appetizing, that after one bite I had to throw both skewers away. My favorite was the eggplant and the rolls were just ok. If I were to visit again, I would just stick to the eggplant.

A very small restaurant with probably 20 seats around the bar. We met some friends here and were lucky to find 4 spots during lunch time. I will say that I was very impressed with the food here. I love their concept of just focusing on delicious hand rolls and a couple of skewers versus a huge sushi menu. The menu here isn't large but I'm pretty positive that everything you order would be delicious.I ordered the 4 piece and absolutely loved the salmon. I also paired it with one of their Japanese lagers and it was just a fabulous quick lunch. My boyfriend and I were also really impressed by our server's beer knowledge as she suggested several others to our group based on our preferences. I would definitely recommend this place if you're wanting a quick, light lunch.
Be the first to ReplyI ordered Hando for Doordash delivery.
While deliver was surpriaingly fast, and my order was meticulously packaged and sealed, that is where my good points end. All of the food was just-okay.I was very excited to try the brussels sprouts (brussels sprouts, bonito flakes, aonori, sesame seeds, Japanese mayo and katsu sauce). The bonito flakes were like dry slices of dead skin. Horrible. I removed that and ate the rest. It was okay. It was brussels sprouts with mayo.I also tried the matchstick salad (daikon, carrot, cucumber, takuan and fried shallot with a soy vinaigrette). It was exactly what it was supposed to be. I wanted a light and fresh item. This was exactly that. I was simply disappointed in the portion. One of the other items I tried was the wagyu gyoza (wagyu beef, shiitake mushroom, shallot, scallion and ponzu). This was another item that I was excited to try. I was, once again, disappoitned. It was just greasy ground beef gyoza.I also tried the 3 cut roll set (8 pcs spicy tuna, 8 pcs salmon and 8 pcs blue crab). The slices were smaller than I am used to. But I actually preferred that. I hate trying to shove huge slices of sushi roll into my mouth. While this was also just-okay, it was probably the most satisfying. In conclusion, I guess you get what you pay for. This place had extremely reasonable prices. I would chalk it up to the fact that this was delivery, except that I have had very good sushi/Japanese deleivered from other places.
Be the first to ReplyStopped in after work to avoid the traffic.
The restaurant was not busy at all. Got the 5 hand roll set (spicy tuna, yellowtail, blue crab, fried oyster, and shrimp tempura) and squid karaage roughly $35. Honestly, I really enjoyed the spicy tuna, yellowtail, and the shrimp tempura. The blue crab was not the highest quality (lacking the sweet taste normally from the blue crab and texture was a bit off). Squid Karaage is really a good appetizer with good balance of spice and crunch. Squid felt fresh and wasn't too chewy. Service was great and welcoming. Next time, I may have just got a few fresh fish hand rolls rather than getting the set. Overall, it was a pretty great experience.

There were plenty of seats but hostess would not seat me until my guest arrived, even though I said I wanted to order a drink first and the guest was 5 min away. The food was good but a bit pricey and service was a bit slow.
Be the first to ReplyThis is specifically for the"hidden bar" located in Hando.
We did not eat here! The bar was so loud from the blaring music and super tiny that you couldn't hear the person next to you. We ordered a "special japanese whiskey" to compliment our old fashion. Honestly, it was very overpriced. Almost $40 for 2 old fashions, and they weren't the greatest.
Be the first to ReplyGreat hand rolls.
All items on the menu are 10/10. Great cocktails and ambiance. Servers are very friendly. Good price also.
Be the first to ReplyIntimate restaurant with very limited seating.
I preferred the hand rolls with fresh fish over the fried fillings. Seaweed is crunchy. Drinks are delicious. Great service. Parking is limited.

This place hit a home run when it comes to customer service and the rolls and sashimi are delicious. It's a must check out if you are in the heights or date night.
Be the first to ReplyHando is very similar to the famous Kazunori, but I think
Hando is very similar to the famous Kazunori, but I think it's slightly cheaper. This is an ideal spot for dates as it features a bar-type seating with a hand-selected handroll menu. I ordered the 5 handroll set and I absolutely loved the salmon and blue crab rolls. The other three rolls in the set were alright and nothing too special. I tried one of their craft cocktails and it was also very mid. The only improvement I would suggest for Hando is switching up the order of the rolls. Without a doubt, the blue crab is the signature and one of the best handrolls they offer in the set and I really wish I ended on that roll instead of the shrimp tempura roll. Nonetheless, pretty good and I would recommend for anyone craving handrolls around the Houston area.
Be the first to ReplyLoved the food here, it was a great experience too.
Service was top notch and I always felt attended to. Would return for sure.
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely a nice hand roll place.
All fresh and good. It's a small place so seats fill fast. Luckily, there was a table available when we came in.
Be the first to ReplyGreat atmosphere, friendly staff.
Sushi was fresh and tasty. Seaweed in the hand rolls were fresh and crispy. Staff was helpful and attentive
Be the first to ReplyBeen here several times and always enjoyed the handrolls
Been here several times and always enjoyed the handrolls I've tried - from tuna to salmon to ocean trout to soft shell crab, they are all made artfully, efficiently, and are presented with warm body-temperature rice (as it should be). Their HH is also very good - the house cocktails are half off. For HH food, I recommend wasabi shumai and shrimp kakiage. The geso karaage (like calamari) was also excellent! For drinks, the audacity (mezcal base) and sweet gin music (gin base) come in cute fish-shaped cups and are also tasty. The everything's lychee keen is on the lighter, sweeter side. Ambiance is clean and simple. Service is friendly. There is limited parking out front in the lot but more to be found street-side.
