I’ve been to Harry’s in Venice. It is the ULTIMATE tourist trap… with $80 risotto and $32 Bellinis. Waiters who are shocked you don’t want the $200 truffle supplement and on and on… the type of place hustlers go to refine their craft. It’s a complete farce for anyone who knows good food. TV dinners are better than Harry’s. I’ve never been more angry in a restaurant. Harry’s in NYC is exactly the same minus the truffle supplement. Imagine a 60s cafeteria with waiters who surely know the food is microwaved but keep themselves running about in order to avoiding have the time to think about the scam that they find themselves are part of. If scientology had a cafeteria it would be Harry’s — it’s a 100% insulting dining experience designed to remove as much money from your wallet as possible because they know no sane person would ever come back. $68 dollar branzino // picture Costco fillet cooked in a micro alone in a 70’s cafeteria plate! There is better branzino around the corner at Avra or for these prices you should just go to Marea (for a Michelin star experience). $39 hamburger - my friend could even finish it was so bad - complete with thick slide of tomato and slice of red onion on the side. Fries from 3rd grade. Why did I even go a second time you may ask? So that I could show folks I care about that they should never consider going in their own … ever! $800 for 6 people - 1 drink each and no desserts. Even the non foodies in our group were insulted. PizzaArte, quality meats, anything in Columbus circle is 1000x better. Just DON’T do it.
