Hicce Hart, Chapel Mkt - What a shame!
Hicce Hart - Chapel Mkt What a shame! Our visit completely ruined by loud thumping music. We asked them to turn it down 4 times (explaining that my husband, who suffers from epilepsy couldn’t cope but they just kept turning it back up - he had to leave in the end). We ordered margaritas straight up with salt. They arrived with ice, no salt. The roast beef etc was nice but very little gravy. The chocolate cake was good, the blood orange mousse mediocre. We won’t be coming back.

Delicious and unusual food. My friend and I went here for his birthday. Delicious food, great service, good music. I highly recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing dining at Hicce - you should really try this place
We had a fantastic dining experience. Amazing food and plenty of it and friendly attentive staff. Went for the £60 Hicce sharing experience and couldn’t finish all of the food that they brought us - standout dishes were the chicken thighs and the halibut but all of the dishes were well thought out and full of flavour. Service was swift and despite us being a busy Saturday night there was no delay in either food or drinks being served. The staff were really friendly , explained the menu and helped make the evening so enjoyable . We will definitely be eating at Hicce again.
Be the first to ReplyFlawless food & service
We ate a mixture of vegan and meat dishes. Everything was bursting with flavour and prepared meticulously. It was all so delicious. Great vibe with music and attentive staff. The chef was Chris & our server was Meggy. We look forward to returning.
Be the first to ReplyToo hip and cool to be real
After being recommended to this restaurant and looking forward to trying it, it was annoying that it turned out to be a bust. The restaurant ambience and decor are very nice, reasonably understated and comfortable but quite hip. When one of our party of 4 was delayed due to travel problems, the manager came over and asked how long he would be, having no specific answer to give, he told us we needed to order. We said great lets start with some of the small dishes while we wait. he said no, it all needs to be ordered at the same time. We then had to beg to get some bread and butter!!!!! Bad start! The vegan menu advertised on the website was not available and I was told to pick some things from the main menu--not acceptable as I probably would have booked somewhere else had I known. Poor wine list and unknowledgeable staff. The venison was largely inedible--had not been prepared or cut properly. Most of the rest of the food was pretty good although I concur with other reviews that I left the restaurant hungry having overpaid for what we got and shocked that a 20% service charge was automatically shown on the bill, making it very difficult to reduce or not pay should one not want that level. All in all, less trying to be hip and cool and more serving proper food with good service would stand this place in good stead.
Be the first to ReplyBe prepared to leave hungry, small potions and over priced
The food was good but for the portion size it is massively over priced , we spent £70 a head and left hungry and had to eat when we got home. I have never experienced that before. Probably better to eat before you go and just have drinks and nibbles
Be the first to ReplyDon’t bring children
The food is different and interesting. Service is also good. Two downsides. Children are charged at the same standard rate even though they clearly eat much less. When we queried this we were told by the staff that they don’t set the rules. I wouldn’t bother with the wine flight unless you really can’t be bothered to choose a bottle of wine. We had two very indifferent wines to start, second two were up to standard. Very small glasses. Much better to choose a bottle or two. Better wine and much more of it for the same money.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible
Just awful. We ordered 5 drinks and after 25 minutes only 2 had been served. Having chased 3 times with the staff and still no sign of them we left and when we complained to the manager there was no apology
Be the first to ReplyEverything was delicious!
My husband and I were there on a Tuesday night and the restaurant was packed. We had the experience menu with paired wines for £80pp and it was well worth it. The staff were lovely and attentive. The music was fun. We enjoyed every minute we were there.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food
Great food in what has become a little gem of a location. A bit pricey but worth it IMHO. My only criticism would be the way the paperless menu functions. It may well be that I am used to having a cardboard or paper option or just me being thick but I struggled to fathom it out. Ended up sharing the delicious but small portions between four adults which didn't really work well.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious Food
The food was exceptional, SO delicious. We could hear each other talk, so a big plus as often a problem these days. Nice airy atmosphere with big windows looking out on to a good view of the terrace, good planting and architecture of Coal Drop Yard. Staff very friendly, quick service, very helpful. One of my party has to have a special diet due to allergies and they prepared dishes especially for him. We were there celebrating a birthday and they brought out the pudding with Happy Birthday message written in chocolate. On the expensive side but 5 stars!
Be the first to ReplyPortions too small for the price
Service was fine and waiting staff were very friendly so can't fault here. However, the dishes are very small for the price. £8 for boquerones (which was basically four tiny anchovies ) and the same price for chiperones which had about 8 small pieces seems a little overpriced. The food was tasty but portions are far too small for the money. I'm afraid we were left a little hungry.
Be the first to ReplyGreat area but disappointing food
This is a very trendy area and the restaurant has great atmosphere and potential. Oddly, the patio bar menu is not as extensive as the inside. The menu is not particularly interesting or diverse. We opted for the tasting menu and while the starters were good, the main dish - chicken thighs?! - was dreadfully tasteless and uninspired. Poor value overall. I’m glad I tried it but would not likely return.
Be the first to ReplyInsanely overpriced
I had the 4 course sharing lunch menu for £60 each. There were a couple of stand out dishes (the chicken and fish were incredible) but the rest was very average. The staff are friendly and efficient and it's a nice location. However, unless money is no object I would not recommend visiting.
Be the first to ReplySlow, expensive and POOR food
Bad expensive experience tonight Long wait followed over cooked cold veg and raw meat Servers not concerned
Be the first to ReplyOh, it promised so much…highly disappointing
Thought of visiting for some time as always looked inviting and generally good reviews coupled with good marketing/ website. Chose to visit with a friend who was in London for a few days. Started well with a nice sharing starter, all ok thus far. About an hour and best part of a bottle of wine later we realised our main course was nowhere in sight. It’s a long story of us asking and being told it was coming to being told it’s now on the grill to being served tepid veg and quite undercooked steak. Advice to management, when it goes wrong accept it and apologise as you can still save the evening. Trying to fob people off with excuses in a city with the restaurant choices and quality of London is a short term strategy. Unlikely to return nor recommend.
Be the first to Replyhicce definitely with a visit - great food, drinks and ambiance just what you need for a perfect evening!
We had a fabulous evening on Thursday. Cocktails on the terrace in the glorious sunshine followed by a delicious dinner. We’ve been a few times pre-covid so I was worried it wouldn't live up to our expectations- but it did! The staff are friendly, very knowledgeable and provided good service. The kitchen delivered a great meal - who’d have thought that carrots could be described as amazing! I would definitely recommend it to others!
Be the first to ReplyDidn't get a chance to eat here, but charged £150 cancellation fee. Disgraceful
I didn't eat at the restaurant so I am just reviewing the customer service I received. I booked a table for 6 people for a Sunday brunch. I booked the table on the Friday evening, I had a few questions regarding the booking, so called the restaurant as soon as it opened on Saturday morning. I left a voicemail (as instructed by the answer message), and called a further 3 times. As no one returned my call at 1pm on Saturday I cancelled my booking, believing this would give the restaurant enough notice, given the time I made my initial booking. I had the table booked for little over 12 hours. I received a £150 charge as I cancelled within their 48 hour cancellation period, despite making the booking less than 48 hours in advance. I called the restaurant to query this, initially they refused any refund, eventually they agreed to refund £75, so I am still £75 out of pocket. They offered a voucher to use on a future visit, but I did not accept. I will never visit this restaurant again. Beware of their unscrupulous cancellation policy!!
Be the first to ReplyBurned food
The food I was served was completely burned. Both courses. Obviously because of this it only tasted of charcoal. What’s worse is that when I told the waitress she said ‘give me a minute’ and then decided to ignore it completely. Won’t recommend it at all. Very rude
Be the first to ReplyOasis at Kings X…
Light, spacious and airy restaurant away from the craziness of King X train station and convenient for Wolf + Badger! Refreshing white wine shared with work friends over a beautifully presented healthy lunch. Would recommend.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, great atmosphere, lovely staff
Great food, great music and great views. Hoki was our waitress, what a star. She was so good at explaining the menu and had a laugh with us. Lovely lunch, will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyPrivate Party
Had an excellent experience at Hicce. I hosted a private birthday dinner here - the ambiance was fantastic, food excellent and service on point.
Thank you Hicce, I will definitely be recommending you to all my friends!
Outstanding experience
What a superb meal! This was my first visit to Coal Drops Yard and will not be my last. We chose Hicce based on the location and the menu, to accommodate 8 of us including young children.
There is something to suit everyone. The service was outstanding - all the staff were welcoming, well informed, passionate about what they do and bent over backwards to ensure that we all had a good time. Special mention to Hoki and Paulina who went the extra mile. The food arrived incredibly quickly and every dish was beautifully presented.
I had the spinach and ricotta pancake followed by creme caramel. It was simply divine! All the other guests enjoyed their meals just as much.
Although I live 120 miles away, it will be well worth making the journey to come here again. Thank you for a wonderful time!
Amazing food, superb service
First visit but certainly not the last. Service from the moment we arrived was friendly and welcoming. The staff all established a good rapport, made lots of recommendations and were clearly passionate about what they do. They went out of their way to look after their guests. Food was exceptional, great choice, amazing flavours and we did not order anything that we did not like. Great to see the Chef on the pass and a kitchen that was clearly enjoying being busy. Would happily recommend any day. Will be back soon!
Be the first to ReplyRip off
So you know there's issues when staff have to "explain how it works".. what ? You mean I don't just order food from a menu ? Yes you do but you have to share! Wait what !? Yes everything is for sharing. The boards the plates everything is for sharing. Caper beurre noisette, exotic mushrooms, onion tempura, all with slices of bread and tiny tiny ramekins of dip that everyone is frantically frightened of either missing out on or going hungry. Save your stress for the silly amount you've just spent on dinner when the bill comes for what is a horrible menu and very average (miniscule) food.
