What we thought would be a consolation to being unable to get reservations at Tickets turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences to our Barcelona tripDon't let the casual exterior and accommodating interior fool you, this is a unique Michelin Star restaurant! When being seated by the host, you are first taken by the open kitchen where the entire staff drops what they're doing to greet you. This was such a pleasant surprise, as we couldn't stop smiling when we were seated just feet away from the spectacle that was going on in the kitchen. Our waitress was delightful and recommended the prix fixe menu and would cater to our tastes/preferences. The relative who recommended us to this restaurant also suggested that we do the prix fixe menu, but we already had a strong idea of what we wanted and were a little more limited than usual due to my wife's pregnancy. We ordered:- Antojitos- Cantine olives- Freshly made guacamole with quelites- Pork rinds with black recado and smoked eel- Cude tamal with epazote- Smooth clam with jalepeño emulsion - Seasonal tomato salad- Eggplant taco with lamb- Cochinita pibil infladita- Beef taco - Bone marrow and chambarete taco - Black garlic mole with avocado- Chilean Wagyu ribeye with black chichilo- Dessert (can't remember the name for the life of me because I was so full but it was some sort of cream corn and multiple types of chocolate)- Margarita and Bloody Maria cocktails (for me, of course) Everything was delicious, however...What stood out to us:- Guacamole: we asked for more of the delicious chips so we could consume every last drop of guacamole and quelites- Cochinita pibil infladita: we almost ordered two more before moving on to the next tacos- Eggplant taco with lamb: unique, light and satisfying- Black garlic mole: so complex and rich- Seasonal tomato salad: the most refreshing tomato salad we've ever had. It sits on a bed of white tomato foam. This is definitely a dish we wish we could re-create at home - Chilean Wagyu ribeye: this was cooked to perfection and cut and salted tableside. It was presented with tortillas, avocado, tomato, cactus and salsa so you can make your own individual tacos. Normally, we would want to eat meat of this quality by itself, but constructing and consuming those tacos was an amazing and delicious experience.- Bloody Maria: the best I've ever had and unlike any other. The tomato taste was so refreshing. Wife had to stop me from ordering another.- Dessert: as I said, we couldn't remember the name as we figured we should order a dessert just for the sake of it. Well, what turned out to be a mere afterthought turned out to be the perfect way to end the evening. The flavors of that corn and different textures of chocolate was lovely. You're taken to an adjacent (and fun) room outside of the dining area for dessert. ... I pretty much listed everything, huh?We will definitely reserve seats here next time we find ourselves in Barcelona (we reserved ours about a month in advance for an 8:30 pm dinner) and have several dishes on our list to try when we have less limitations!Cheers and thank you for the memorable Barcelona dining experience, Hoja Santa!
