Hotel Okura Amsterdam Reviews from The Last Year
Hotel is nice and service is good.
BUT - the walls are thin. First 2 nights were great. 3rd night the room next to me there were several night workers in the room next to mine. Impossible to sleep, they were making noises nobody should have to hear for hours despite complaining to the front desk Highly discourage families/kids from staying here in particular.
When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When in Amsterdam… stay at the Okura Hotel.
Fabulous hotel living up to and even exceeding their reputation of being high class with exquisite service. It already starts outside when you’re welcomed by the doorman. Then you enter the serenity of the lobby where the check in is as smooth and welcoming as it can be. A refreshing towel was offered and chocolate made by the hotels patisserie team. A delicious start! On to the stunning rooms, what a view from the Panoramic Room. A more than lush and comfortable bed. This hotel has top notch restaurants and bars. We enjoyed the complimentary lounge on the 22nd floor to unwind and the breakfast next morning served in La Camelia to kickstart our day. Thank you Louis, Maria and colleagues for a wonderful stay. You all went above and beyond and we’ll definitely be back!
Exceptional Stay with 8-month old baby
We had an exceptional stay for a short getaway to Amsterdam with our 8-month old baby. From check-in, Dominique ensured we were welcomed warmly and showed knowledge by recommending local restaurants for dinner. The room was very well apointed and amenities were great, and the little one was well taken care of with his own soaps and other amenities, they even left a list of other items for the baby that could be requested through Housekeeping, including bottle steriliser, changing mat, baby bath or rubber bath mat. The breakfast offering is varied, with lots of different items to choose from, including Japanese, English and Continental sections. A variety of eggs choices can be ordered a la carte and the waitress even offered to mash a banana for our boy. A visit to the pool will always be in our fondest memories, since this was our son's first swim. Throughout the hotel, cleaniness is second to none and cannot be faulted. Little touches like tying our phone charging cables neatly was not something we had seen before in hotels and shows dedication and attention to detail. Overall one of the best hotel stays we have ever had.
Perfect Hotel in Amsterdam
In the midst of the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam, this is a really good stop for the night. It is situated on a lazy, quiet canal and on a nice day the terrace restaurant is perfect. The rooms are large and very clean, I liked the concierge who set up a private boat trip on the canal. The boat came to a small dock right by the hotel and our 2 hour tour was perfect. He met us in the lobby and walked up to the dock and onto the boat. The buffet breakfast was very good and something I have never seen before was organic honey dripping off the cone and into a bowl. Very different! I’m not sure I would get the buffet if it wasn’t included with the room as it was pricey (40€). It was a perfect visit except the bathroom was encased entirely of marble and it was so slick and scary. It needed a mat with rubber backing and a grab bar in the shower. I felt like I was on ice!!! Quiet, soothing and tasteful, I will stay there again.
Ultimate stay!
Celebrating 30 years of marriage and getting the ultimate upgrade to the Presidential Suite! So grateful! Getting a celebration message from Chef Rina en the lovely Sakie from Sazanka made our stay one to never forget. Many thanks Okura team!
They made a problem into a great trip fir the 4 nights I was there
This is the first review I have done in a long while and I am overdue. I stayed here recently and to be honest things didn’t start out well. No AC. The professionals at the hotel dealt with this with grace and class and once resolved my stay was flawless. I can’t say enough about their excellent, timely and no excuses response to a situation clearly beyond their control. I will stay here again in the very near future and give this theological 6 stars on a rating of 5. Stay with confidence here.
Mixed Experience at the Okura Hotel
The Okura Hotel welcomes guests with an abundance of friendly staff and offers a breathtaking view from the top floors, especially when overlooking the canal. The breakfast staff stands out for their exceptional friendliness, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere during morning meals. Additionally, the hotel's prompt service is commendable, with issues such as a malfunctioning coffee machine promptly addressed. Moreover, the hotel's location adds to its appeal, being conveniently situated just 4-5 minutes away from a tramway station and 12 minutes from the metro. With easy access to public transportation, guests can reach the city center within 20-30 minutes, making it a convenient choice for exploring the city. However, despite these positive aspects, some aspects of the stay were disappointing. Guests experienced issues with the AC system, which required multiple visits from maintenance before the problem was acknowledged and addressed. While the staff apologized for the inconvenience, a proactive heads-up about the issue would have been appreciated. Furthermore, it was communicated that the issue was not unique to one guest, indicating a broader problem that affected multiple guests. While my personal experience may not lead me to choose to stay at the Okura Hotel on future visits, I would consider visiting the hotel's bar for its delightful selection of drinks, and I am eager to try the culinary offerings of its restaurants. Additionally, despite booking a room that included a welcome drink, it was not provided upon arrival. Amenities were not clearly communicated upon check-in, leading to missed opportunities to enjoy them. Cleanliness fell short of expectations, with instances of unwashed glassware and overlooked debris in the room. The difference in amenities between room types, such as automatic blindfolds and touch switches in the panorama room versus the lack of a loofah in the superior room, was noticeable. Overall, while the Okura Hotel offers impressive features and service, attention to detail in cleanliness, amenities, and communication regarding maintenance issues could be improved for a more consistent guest experience. Given these factors, I may explore other accommodations for future visits to the area.
Location and first rate service
Traveling with kids finding a hotel with a pool is usually a must and at the right price point to boot. The Okura was our pick, and we didn't regret it at all. Although not in the centre of Amsterdam the No.12 tram is 3 min walk from the hotel and takes you right into the old town. We booked two connecting executive suites which were palatial, with the corner one having a fantastic view, even the bathroom. The bed was confrontable although a bit soft, this was the first hotel where the wife didn't complain about the pillows are there are about 8 to choose from. The one downside about our room as that the mini-bar spent more time on defrost than cooling the drinks. The bar is inclusive in the room rate however the pringles were not replenished after the first day. From the welcome by the doorman, greeting at reception and service in the restaurants the staff are first rate. To make it even better this is a 5-star property that welcomes kids and doesn't make you feel like regretting having brought them. The food and beverage are amazing and nothing is too hard for the staff be it breakfast or dinner in either serre or at the teppanyaki. The one area which seems very much and afterthought is the Panorama Lounge on the 22nd floor. The offering of either drinks or food seemed to be more a "yes we probably should put something there" type thing. There were no juices on offer, only beer, wine and soft drinks. The red wine had 3 empty bottles on the shelf. The daily selection of food items was the same every day, and was miniscule and lacking in imagination, in other words totally at odds with the hotel. Nitpicking aside we would stay here again on our next visit.
Warm welcome to Amsterdam
The warmest greeting I have ever had in 50 years of traveling from this kind woman, Peerati, at the reception desk. Being new to the country, I felt like a local by the time I finished checking in. Everything else in the hotel was equally nice and pleasant.
In short, fantastic
On the occasion of a 50th wedding anniversary, we had lunch with 50 people in “De Serre” of the Okura Hotel. Upon arrival a delicious drink with fresh passion fruit, fantastic. During lunch, starters, main courses and desserts. Dishes such as tempura shrimp, steak tartare, super tasty chicken pieces, a delicious tomato soup, sandwiches, macaroons, too many to mention. Everything super quality as you would expect here.
Viking and Hotel Okura Amsterdam
The friendliest staff in every aspect of the the service industry ever. Everyone was do kind from the hotel desk to the maid service. It was a beautiful and clean hotel. The restaurant food was excellent. We also used the Viking concierge and they were amazing.great location to stay. Keep up the good work
Luxury and grace to an astounding degree
My wife and I had been planning a stay at the Okura Hotel, combined with a dinner at the Yamazato Restaurant, to celebrate our anniversary. We had been looking forward to our stay for a long time; I am very glad to say that our expectations were met, and then some. Every element of our stay at the Okura was exquisite. Every part of the hotel looks great and refined. We were extremely happy about our room, which is easily the largest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Next to a huge and very comfortable bed, the room features a great look over Amsterdam. We were also very glad to discover that the TV in the room was connected to a Chromecast. Our bathroom like our room was very spacious and had both a shower and a bathtub. Finally, the staff of the hotel also deserves praise, being as helpful and professional as you would expect from a high quality hotel. We were extremely satisfied about our stay and would definitely recommend the hotel.
Excellent!
Once or twice a year I return to my hometown Amsterdam to visit family - staying in a hotel while I’m in the city. For the first time I picked Okura for my stay and I enjoyed every minute of it! Warm welcome by the doormen and at the front desk, comfortable and clean room with a spectacular view over the city (the binoculars on the desk are a fun detail), ergonomically designed bathroom, well equipped gym, generous breakfast buffet. The hotel is conveniently located, close to both the highway and the city center (the metro line is one block away). Other positive elements: the lobby is beautiful, the lunch restaurant Serre is great for a luxury lunch and every single staff member is kind and welcoming. The management of this hotel truly cares about hospitality. Excellent - highly recommended!
Excellent Stay
Excellent hotel, stunning room with panoramic views, facilities in the room were above and beyond everything we could need. The staff could not do enough to make our stay perfect very efficient and helpful and always with a smile, excellent 👌
Excellent all round
Excellent hotel, excellent spa, excellent location, excellent staff, been 7 times and love it every time highly recommend to all travellers if looking for something extra special, short work to the metro or the staff will assist with any onward transport
Good experience
Hotel located 10/15 minutes from the center connected by tram and metro. Attentive staff in general and mostly helpful. Spacious rooms (in my case a suite), well equipped and clean (the carpet in my room had a stain). Difficulty in accessing restaurant services. The quality-price ratio can be improved
Outstanding Michelin rated hotel in Amsterdam.
Got a room on the 21st floor with a great view of the city. Four restaurants in the hotel: Ciel Bleu perched on the 23rd floor has two Michelin Stars serves up French fine dining; Yamazato has one Michelin Star and is a kaiseki Japanese restaurant; Serre has a Michelin Mention. There is also a habatchi table Japanese restaurant. Hotel has heated swimming pool, spa, panorama lounge, etc. Drinks in mini bar (beer, soda, juice, water) are complimentary. Truly a hotel destination as well as a culinary destination.
Excellent hotel - 5 star service all the way from reception
Excellent hotel - 5 star service all the way from reception to the choice of fine dining options. We were here with a Viking cruise - thanks Viking for choosing such a great hotel to end our trip with. Rooms are huge and well appointed. Bathroom is as big as a guestroom, very nice. Location is in the city, but outside the hussle & bustle of the central district - short 5 minute train ride and the train stop is right out the from door. The museum district is only a 15 minute walk.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!

Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
