Journey Experience NYC New York Reviews from The Last Year
A piece of Disney in NYC!
Like a piece of Disneyworld in NYC, this fun attraction left us wanting to go back for more. It’s just the right amount of information in the very interesting set of museums - like a little historical buffet!- and the ride at the end reminded us of the “Soarin’” ride at Disneyworld, but without the 3 hour wait. It’s the right length, the right cost and great for kids and adults. Great way to add to your NYC experience!
Fun experience
Fun little museum with easy entry. No lines. The ride at the end was fantastic - a soarin type ride, complete with simulated snow flurries!
Great fun!
Great experience. Wonderful historical retrospective of the city and all it offers. Really fun ride at the end. Well-organized. Friendly staff.
Incredible
Absolutely brilliant. 2nd time to NYC. 1st time we exhausted the sights, we did the same this time round with a few extra the Rise being one of them. Would highly recommend RiseNY - next time in NYC will pay to do it again it was that good and up there with the best things to do in NYC. I would recommend you make this your 1st stop!!!
Fun and easy
The museum was small, but informative… The best part of it was the 3-D ride at the end. No need to get the premium tickets as it’s not crowded and the lines move fast.
A good time
RiseNY was a fun visit for dad and 17 year old son. Convenient to Times Square area hotels. We enjoyed the history displays, which were not too much. The cultural and modern displays were interesting. The ride was fun, like Soaring over California at Disney. I'd recommend a visit. Plan to spend about an hour.
Good for a rainy day!
My daughter (21) & I went here during our NYC visit and would recommend. Some interesting facts about different aspects of NY with some good exhibits but of course the main event is the ride at the end which is well worth it! A great option for a rainy day as it’s all indoor. Tip - the only restrooms are at the start/end of it.
New York Experience
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Would definitely recommend. Took about an hour but go at your own pace for the most part.
Get your tickets and GOOOO!! Stop reading this and GO NOW!! :-D
I went with family AND friends and we all had an amazing time!! It was my 2nd time going because I had been raving about it since the first time! We were celebrating our friend's birthday. The staff was super friendly and the attractions were very nice, too! Some things you can touch, others you can't (understandably). This was a wonderful experience and I CANNOT say enough about the ride at the end!! It was what I really came for. I was screaming my head clean off my neck because it looked so real! I am looking forward to my 3rd time!!
Fun ride
Interesting history of the subway and nye ball drop. My daughter really enjoyed the ride and they had some cool artifacts in the museum part.
The primary event contact for our group was Sarah Espaillat.
We were a party of 10 celebrating a friend's milestone birthday. The original time slot offered to us was 6:30pm, which was refused. We did opt, however, for an 8:30pm reservation and was told the show/experience would be from 8:30-10:00pm. Evidently, an invoice was actually emailed with the same 6:30pm reservation that was originally declined. This realization wasn't made until day of, but bear in mind there was a separate, 120-person party happening simultaneously, which was clearly the priority over our smaller party. Considering the reservation was made to include the performance, upon arrival, we were made aware that the show was not happening: a clear miscommunication and frankly, neglect on the part of the coordinator. Okay, so we're here now and must deal. By the time our entire party was seated (at about 9:00pm or so), we began service. From the time of our orders being placed until arrival of food, there was at least an hour in between. Also, many of the dishes came out cold. Some guests requested their dishes to be warmed, as the food was too cool for consumption. And my steak was actually prepared well when I ordered it at medium temperature. Disappointment would be an understatement. In my estimation, the best course of measure would have been to transparently communicate the maxed capacity of the waitstaff and perhaps offer another date or even the option for our group to seek out another venue for the celebration. With my friend, the birthday girl, being satisfied, all mentioned wasn't a dealbreaker for her, since she wasn't fully aware of each hiccup, but for my friend's husband who planned the evening plus a few guests (including myself), the communication and customer service equally lacked in our opinion. One plus was how aesthetically beautiful the space was (which increased my rating from 2 to 3), but unfortunately due to our experience, I am not certain that anyone in the group will return.

Meant to do the "experience," accidentally clicked the wrong thing and had a regular dinner reservation. The front room is spacious and has a comfy, cool vibe. They clearly spent a lot of money on the aesthetic. The menu presented is not what's online and rather limited. You are given a boarding pass, $39 for an appetizer and entree. Not bad for NYC and portion sizes was fine. 4 entree options and 4 starters, and an additional charge for 4 sides. Two of the entrees come with fries. The cocktails were delicious, if only it hadn't taken 20 minutes to get the drinks. Then there was the waiter. Oh the waiter. The waiter explained the "specials" twice, forgetting we'd already asked. When we asked what the pasta was he said pomodoro. We said what kind of pasta, he said pomodoro. No sir, that's the sauce, what kind of pasta. Oh, spaghetti. He then went to check to make sure he was right, came back and explained the two daily specials like he hadn't just told us and like they were something different. Fine spaghetti pomodoro. I decided on steak, he asked what temperature. I said medium. He said medium what, Rare or well? I said just medium. He said there was no such temperature for a steak then dried to describe it in pinkness. My friend and I went back and forth with him on this many times, there were many trips by him to the kitchen. I ordered chicken instead. I asked to substitute the fries, he again went to check. Good new and bad news, I can't substitute the fries because the other sides are bigger in size and don't equate, the good news is that I can have unlimited fries. Why would I want unlimited fries if I don't want fries at all? I said never mind the side just the chicken. I'm leaving out the number of times we talked about the medium steak. I lost my patience because the whole thing was bonkers. The chef came out when I said forget the side. She offered me another side at that point, over an hour in, I thanked her, but declined. It was nice of her to check, wasn't expecting that. I wish the kid had just asked her or the manager instead of legit making things up. The food was good, it had flavor without being too salty. The manager came over at one point, he was very nice and offered us dessert as an apology, we found out it was waiters second day. We knew he had no experience it was obvious but no less crazy having to talk about steak temp for 30+ mins. I've been ordering steak medium for longer than he's been alive. The dessert was beautiful, very good, not overly sweet. I was then surprised that we were charged an automatic 20% gratuity. In no way was I going to stiff the kid, I'm not mean but for the service we got that was very presumptuous. It was a comedy of errors over and over for 2+ hours and while the chef and manager truly tried to improve the experience I doubt I'll go back.
So much potential but seriously food is so so.
Why they can't get a decent cook and let me explain. Food is seriously so so. With the amazing atmosphere and drinks, they can up their game on the food part. Dessert is like something I got from a grocery shop. Fries, burger, swordfish and tuna tartar (kinda hard to eat) are just normal. They don't taste bad but I was a little misled by their ambiance. This place is huge especially the back room by the lounge. You can have 100 people and still got plenty of space. Service is amazing. They are so nice to us and the bartender is very skill in making drink.

I brought my husband here for his birthday and we did the tasting menu. It was underwhelming and kind of corny and touristy. We kept an open mind throughout the entire experience, however, I can't imagine anyone returning to do it again. The food is mediocre, certainly nowhere near Michelin level. The dining room is tight and the projections are not the highest quality so they felt blurry. I would recommend coming for the novelty experience but the food and experience needs to be better for me to return.
Had an amazing experience at Journey Experience.
The food was great and the full immersion experience was incredible. It's a full restaurant in addition to that Journey experience. Great great. Great Vibe. Great service.
Cool experience, but way overpriced for the food quality.
The atmosphere in the room is very nice with screens all around and an actor tells you stories. I loved the animations that were projected on the table, and the communal setting. However for $150 per person after taxes and tip on a weekday (!) for a tasting menu, you expect something impeccable and excellent. Every dish except the salad and desert are basically the assembly of 3 or 4 items: a protein, a purée (not kidding) and something else to go along. I wonder if the weekend menu is different / better? The salad was good but really nothing special. The tuna tartare bite on cucumber was good. The first warm dish (Octopus and lentil purée) had been sitting on a plate for too long, and the purée started solidifying on the outside (how is this even acceptable?). The octopus was deliciously cooked. The second warm dish was sea bass, the fish was slightly over cooked but the edamame purée was delicious with a hint of spicyness. It also came with pineapple and watermelon. The third warm dish was a joke: a tiny way over cooked piece of short ribs (not tender at all) on top of polenta with some cherry tomatoes and swimming in beef juice. This could have been served at a high school restaurant. The reveal was really cool though with a glass top and smoke trapped inside. Desert was ok but a bit dry, nothing special to note. To ownership and kitchen staff, please do better. You know that this is sub par.

As a born and raised New Yorker whose eaten at nearly every restaurant in NY and around the world, this is the worst concept of a restaurant to ever open in NYC and a complete waste of money. The food is disgusting, the price for a dinner experience is way too high, the entire experience is extremely cheesy, the screens aren't even in high Rez, the staff is absolutely terrible and incompetent, they remind me of Applebees staff, I cannot express what a waste of money this is, and I know they had to put a lot of money into this place, but people who've never worked in hospitality a day in their life keep opening restaurants and "experiences" and have no idea wtf they're doing.
Average food, average experience, average ambiance.
The food was nothing special and overpriced. They had extremely hokey "special effects" that looked like they were created in 1999 and never updated again. The storyline was made for a 5yr old and I felt cringe sitting there listening it. Do not recommend.
Came here for my sisters birthday and had higher
Came here for my sisters birthday and had higher expectations, especially with the price it was... If you must... I suggest eating before coming here or just not coming with an empty stomach. We had a party of 4 and really weren't near full after this. There were a few cool things, like the interactive drawings (scan QR code, draw on the phone and send it to the wall), and the way they projected moving things on the table. However, the rest of the "experience" was mediocre and not much interactive stuff. If you have a small party for 2-4, you'll be sharing the experience/table with other guest (that was fine for us) but the host who was explaining the journey was mostly paying attention to the group up front. I was also expecting the food to be better but most of it was kind of bland and very small portions. The menu is preset but you can ask for substitutions. We had some kind of tuna tartar when we sat down which was decent, then a salad which was nothing really special, followed by octopus (this was better than most other dishes we had and texture was decent), miso glazed seabass (best one out of all the dishes but the portion was so small - I could've eaten 4-5 of these), braised short rib (VERY dry and bland) then a cheesecake (the passionfruit flavor on it was good but the cheesecake itself was just okay). One thing to note, we noticed there was one girl in the other groups that didn't eat beef so they substituted the short rib for scallop -- which would be my suggestion had I known the short rib would be that dry. They did give us free moscato because it was a birthday celebration but the moscato was not sweet and none of us liked it (and I'm mostly a moscato drinker). We did end up going to another restaurant after and having a bit of food and dessert so honestly I don't think I'd come back. Edit to add: some of the other reviews and photos show better looking food/plating for the experience... and a bit larger portions... more than what we got. Between the 4 in my party, one person got a much smaller portion of short rib as well so that also needs some work.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.
