Kabuki Wellington Madrid Reviews from The Last Year
Guaranteed success
Going to Ricardo Sanz almost always means a guaranteed success. The treatment of the staff is magnificent but without a doubt, most importantly, the food takes the medal for this place. Mixture of flavors that combine perfectly. I recommend trying the Wagyu ribs, the carabineros usuzukuri and the eggplants.
A combination of worse experience, from food poisoning to allergy component in food
Probably the worse experience ever. The restaurant setting is very nice but the service was absolutely terrible in every single respect. We were attended by a shift manager, her look was totally terrible, her shirt was improperly tight, full of wrinkles, with the tie on the side, and laughing out of control. As we have 2 family members with severe allergies we made her aware about such allergies, this was in addition to the fact that we indicated such allergies in the form when we made the reservation. When the food arrived, almost everything contained allergens, so we have to return all those dishes, that she recommended (knowing about our allergies) Meanwhile they were preparing something different without allergens, they brought a complimentary appetizer "without any allergen", after my daughter, who suffers a life threatening allergy to tree nuts and shellfish, had the first bite a waitress came to the table to remove the appetizer. The shift manager came to our table and laughing she said that it was very spicy that's why they removed it, but as my daughter started with an allergic reaction, I confronted her and she immediately admitted that it contained shellfish, trying to make jokes about it and keeping laughing. My daughter immediately took her medicine to control the allergic reaction, which luckily, stoped about 45' later, as she only had a very little bite. We also ordered some drinks, which, after 30 minutes and asking for them in several occasions, never came We ask to the manger on duty, who came and when he saw the situation, he apologized and did not allowed us to pay for anything. The only thing we were able to eat was tuna tartare, which came with some egg. The dish was tasty. That night, my wife and me, started to feel bad from the stomach, having burps which smelled of rotten egg, then we started going to the bathroom in several occasions. Those burps, lasted for 3 days. Despite of the fact we wrote to Grupo Kabuki a couple of times, as well as leaving voice messages, to explain the experience we had, absolutely nobody ever contacted us, whatsoever. In summary, The did not pay any attention whatsoever to the allergies despite of the several times we informed and made them aware of them The manager who attended us, was totally unprofessional, she laugh at us, and made jokes about our allergies, lying to us to cover the shellfish component, totally unacceptable and repudiable attitude. Nobody from the head-office never got back to us, showing how much they care, or don't care, about how they run their restaurant and what really happens over there. We did not have to chance to report this situation to the spanish authorities because we were leaving madrid. But as we have to come back to Madrid in a month, we'll do it then
Everything is very rich
We loved it, it seemed like a dinner with a lot of flavor, everything was delicious and service was 10. We had dinner with the tasting menu and everything was delicious.
Fashion changed
First of all, this restaurant is called Ricardo Sanz Wellington, not Kabuki. For 20 years it has been the most avant-garde Japanese in Spain and probably Europe, currently and after disputes between partners, along with the current trend of mediocre Japanese with show music or the option of expensive bars for few customers, this restaurant is beginning to show signs of decay. It maintains the same or almost the same dishes as always, when they sell avant-garde and you do the same thing, you start to get bored. Good product at very expensive prices. There are more than 20 Japanese restaurants in Madrid where you eat the same and half the price. Good service.
Japanese luxury food
I go from time to time. and say that the quality is very good, whatever you order. Daniel is usually sitting at the back of the bar. Very good service, serious and formal. Extensive wine list and very good champagne, which I love to eat with champagne. Seriously, ask yourself what you can, you'll like it, The tuna of course. What I don't like is the decoration, which is a bit dated and needs a renovation to be up to par with everything.
A must-see place in Madrid
An essential place to live an error-free experience. You have to go there without a doubt. From the ingredients certainly chosen with great delicacy well done…
Very exaggerated food and wine prices
Nice place and so so expensive. Phew. I didn't like it enough to repeat it. The staff is very abundant and attentive. Too much?
A fashionable combination of the two best cuisines, the Spanish and the Japanese
A fashionable combination of the two best cuisines, the Spanish and the Japanese. A very chic place with high professional staff. Was there once in a big group and tasted a big selection of shusies, each one based on an Spanish dish. Most probably the best sushi selection tasted in Europe.

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
