I was introduced to Kiki's about a year ago by my most artsy-fartsy friend. I hate that term but struggled to come up with something better that gets my point across. He is also the friend that takes more pride in his food choices, and genuinely thinks he has better taste than most everyone on the planet, maybe in the solar system. But in fairness he does rarely miss so... I'm rambling. Locking back in. I met him at Kiki's and really just was struck by the energy that hits you right when you walk in, or even near this place. It's a youthful energy in the best way possible. People are eating outside, laughing, smiling, and seemingly just enjoying life and their presence in here. That discreet corner where Orchard and Division meet is magical. For food, that Mama's oven roasted chicken is actually life changing. It is cooked to perfection and fell off the bone, served with lemon potatoes in a sauce that was to die for. At $16 I'm putting it in my inflation buster category, as the portion size is easily enough to split with someone, unless you're a big dawg like myself. The Marousalata salad is one of my favorite salads I have had in the city. Since popping my Kiki's cherry wit Mr. Artsy Fartsy, I have been back 5+ times. Kiki's was my introduction to Dimes Square, and I have since fallen in love with it. The only place in NYC that I feel challenges East Village as a cultural mixing pot layered with character is Dimes Square. I adore it. The mix of people who are flooding with creativity and simultaneously being absolutely nutso is really unmatched. My favorite kind of people. Be the first to ReplyIt's not worth the wait and the treatment.
Frankly, a very despotic and arrogant treatment. They do not accept reservations and there are queues. They made us wait a long time and the treatment was very unprofessional. We went at 9 at night and without having booked option B, so we decided to stay despite the deal. but they passed people in front of us without any criteria. Not worth it.
Be the first to Replyamazing food but worst service ever!
food delicious and decent prices but the service was extremely bad!!! never seen anything like this in my life anywhere. i was in shock. extremely rude, zero welcoming and a bit assholey. michael and the red headed girl horrible they should not be working there or anywhere with that attitude! the only nice one was the hostess very nice and amazing attitude and service.

Heard great things about this place, but was underwhelmed The host was very rude. The service was poor. . Apps were mediocre, and dinner was served before we barely had a chance to even eat them. Entrees were edible. No one ever asked if we wanted more wine, or dessert. Price was fairly cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Love this place. Everything on the menu is good. The food is always solid and the wine selection is great as well. But the real winner is that CHEESECAKE! Yum. So great. I wish they delivered to my area because I need that octopus in my life more often !

Yummmm! Amazing Greek food. I got delivery to my hotel and the food was awesome— delicious gyro and the lemon potato dish was a highlight. Can’t wait to go in person and try more dishes. Highly recommend for authentic Greek dishes. Baklava was ok.
Be the first to ReplyNo soup for you! Amazingly rude manager at Kiki's, a place to avoid.
Sp we went to Kiki’s and got kicked out by a guy called Glen. We were looking for a fun, casual place with good food to take out some friends who are in town for a while, as one of them is beginning radiation therapy at Sloan-Kettering. We were recommended Kiki’s for the food, although warned about the cold and standoffish behavior from the host staff, an all too common bad habit some trendy places seem to think they need to adopt to seem cool. No worries, no hurry, we all agreed to meet there at 6:15. Our friends got there much earlier, and were happily waiting at the bar. They did approach the hostess to try to check in for a table, only to be told that the place only seats complete parties. Again, no hurry, no worries. Once we arrived, we told the hostess we all were here, and she proceeded to seat several other parties who arrived after us. My friend did mention this to her in a very casual manner, and she huffed off, returning with Glen, a tall Aussie (?) with a huge attitude. He breezily informed us that we had a table… across the street in a spillover location, reached over us, grabbed the wine bottle off the bar, said “let’s go!”, spun around and sped off, outside the door, and across the street in the rain before we had a chance to gather our wits. Once we followed his trail (he was long gone) into the place across the street, we were unceremoniously shown to our table, a four top immediately next to the single door, which every time it was opened would let in a blast of cold, wet air. The space itself was dark and sparse, not even a close comparison to the well-lit, bustling fun space for the regular restaurant. Glen kept asking us if we were happy here, but not offering any options! We explained to him several times that we were happy at the bar and would have waited a lot longer there but this place was not to our liking. We even asked to move to an open five-top (there were lots of open tables in this sub-space), but were rudely told that was not an option. All through this encounter, Glen was not just rude - he was aggressively rude. Again, he repeated that he wanted us to be happy (in a rude monotone), yet resisted offering us any options but that table! Defeatedly we said fine, we’ll sit here, and then my wife said “but I’m giving this place a bad review”. That really triggered Glen, here, who got in her face and said “well, if you’re going to leave a bad review anyway, then get out of MY restaurant”. And just like that… we were ejected by Glen. There’s a first time for everything, and this was my first time getting kicked out of… well, anywhere! It seems that Glen is an owner (he did say “get out of my restaurant" many times), or an over-entitled manager with all kinds of personality issues. Glen, if you’re reading this, I hope you are proud of yourself, kicking out four people in the rain, just because you were offended with the “threat” of a bad review, and after you rudely marched us from the cozy bar across the rain to your B space, without giving one hoot about our preferences. And Glen’s boss(es), if you’re reading this, and if you would rather have a decent human being running your place - fire Glen now. He’s toxic. Anyway we ended up going next door and trying to have a nice dinner, but the evening had been ruined by Glen. Not sure why he’s so unhappy, but we should not have had to deal with this kind of rudeness.
Be the first to ReplyTourist trap with rude aggressive manager. Avoid.
I was hoping to have a great experience here but it turned out to be my worst ever restaurant visit. We were waiting patiently for a table despite all the empty tables around us until a person appeared, told us he was taking us to our table, grabbed our wine from the bar, said let’s go and disappeared out the door to another place across the street. We followed and when we asked for another table this man got very rude and aggressive. He insisted we take this table and kept asking if we were happy with it but was oblivious to our saying we were not! Then I said I would be leaving a bad review to which he snapped “get out of my restaurant”! I followed behind him and asked for his name to which he replied his name is Glen and asked me why I was still there and what I was waiting for. I demanded he respect his elders and we left this place never to return again. A true hospitality professional with some class would have insisted we remain and promised that by the end of our meal the reviews would be awesome. Instead this amateur preferred to kick four people out into the rain. I guess tourist traps are like this as they never expect you to return anyway. Won’t be falling into this trap again and will never recommend it to anyone.
Be the first to ReplyRudest behavior @ Kiki’s
I need to review this restaurant because the service here was so incredibly bad last night that I had to. The rude hostess and this rude guy “called himself the owner” “Glen”? were the rudest I have ever encountered. They had an attitude about every single interaction. When we arrived the place was empty. Asked for a table for 4, and were told we couldn’t have a table until all 4 guests arrived…sat us at the bar… nicest bartender served us …but once the full party arrived, the hostess ignored us, and out of nowhere appeared Glen, “calling himself the owner/manager” roughly took the wine bottle we were enjoying at the bar and took us to another restaurant area where the table was set by the “drafty” back door…at this point my husband requested to change to another visibly available empty table and he blatantly refused…Then when my girl-friend remarked she’d post a bad review he screamed “Get out of my restaurant”…never have I encountered such rude, inexcusable and amateurish behavior…a waste of time!
Be the first to ReplyEmployees Need Attitude Adjustments
We got to Kiki’s early on Saturday night, but since our entire party was not there, we could not be seated since they do not take reservations. (My husband had actually checked earlier in the day and they had told him they don’t take reservations, but early seating for 6 on a Sunday night would not be an issue.) The hostess told us that if the 2 tables in the front were still empty once all have arrived, we would be seated at one of the tables. Our party arrived a few minutes later and the tables were still empty. We then went to the front to be seated. A different hostess appeared who told us that we cannot sit at either tables because they are both reserved. “Why?, we asked. “They are reserved every week and the parties are on their way.” When the other hostess came to see what the issue was, she rudely told her that she is handling this. The hostess then told us she will seat us in another building. We asked what the difference was and there was no comment. We decided to still stay and try the restaurant because we did not want to start looking for an alternative at that point. From the hostess, there was no apology, no effort at customer service — just passive aggressive smiles. Across the street we were seated at a bar table with a big pole in the middle so that we couldn’t clearly see one other, which was uncomfortable. While the food was very good, there was no heat in this area at all and we were encouraged to deal with it when we asked if there is any heat. By the time we finished the meal, we were frozen. We only realized how cold we were after stopping at a wine bar down the street that actually had heat! The only consolation was that there were other employees who were friendly and attentive. We actually later learned from several employees of the restaurant that the hostess is a very, very difficult character (I’m being nice) and they do their best to avoid her. It’s unfortunate that a restaurant of this caliber employs a staff member who has such a disdainful attitude, rude persona, and gives the restaurant a bad name. When you look through reviews, there are several that mention rude employees. I would guess we know who they are talking about.

For starters, we ordered the tsatziki apetizer which comes with bread and pita. Both the bread and pita were completely stale. Who knows how old the bread was, but they thought they could cover it up by heating it and tossing some olive oil on it. But it was so stale there was no hiding it. It took a long time to get them to come to the tab le and to ask if they would bring us fresh bread and take back the stale bread. They did take the bread away, but unfortunately, the bread they came back with was stale as well! This is totally unacceptable and made the appetizer unpleasant. My partner got the Briam which she said was soupy and overall terrible. I had the bifteki (Greek burgers, no bun) and that was good. The fries were average. We would never go here again.
Be the first to ReplyGreat hidden gem of a restaurant
Amidst all the Asian restaurants on the border of Chinatown is this hidden gem of a Greek restaurant. I stopped for lunch at sat outside. I had the Sautéed shrimp with mint mustard vinaigrette. It was fantastic. I also had a salad to top it off. The place was busy. It is easy to miss, but worth going out of your way to find.

An unassuming hole in the wall Greek restaurant, you will enjoy delicious, authentic food here for prices that you will be shocked to see. I think we paid around $120 for 4 people including wine? Unheard of in NYC.
Be the first to ReplyVery cool spin on a greek spot
Trendy spot on the LES with a killer greek menu and a cool vibe that I haven't really seen anywhere else.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a small, unpretentious, authentic Greek Restaurant.
The food is AMAZING!. The Owner is from Greece and wants it to be like back home. You are served Greek wine in water glasses at tiny tables. You could go and fill up on the delicious appetizers. I think it’s great that it is at the lower tip of the city so it stays as undiscovered as possible! it is well worth a trip for this experience. Great spot to bring out of town visitors who want to stay away from the uptown Tourist traps
Be the first to ReplyGood Food, great location
Went for a very late lunch with my partner while our son was off skateboarding. In the middle (ish) of Chinatown so stood out as somewhere different. We were seated immediately (around 2pm) and the service was friendly. We changed tables as the first was in a very dark area of the restaurant.
I had Moussaka as a main and we shared warm feta cheese and oil on toasted bread as a starter. I also had the Baklava for desert. A nice, small carafe of wine as well.
We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere and the location is good. The only reason not 5*s is there was an after taste of saffron in all three of my dishes which I didn't like tbh. It took the edge off of the food for me.
True Greek Food!
Take every fish the tavern offers! Lemon potatoes are a must! Watch the fact that there is no sign over the restaurant, therefore have in mind that the entrance is through Orchard Street. Don’t miss this little treasure of Manhattan!
Be the first to ReplyVery busy authentic meals
We're there on this Feb 10th 2019 .. We're lucky that we're able to get a table.. It's very crowded place .. We went there around 6:50 pm They won't take reservations!!
.. Had trouble finding the address.. The outside had no signs of Kiki as far was I remember .. I have photo to show you on outside. The signs was in Chinese letters so how we supposed to know this was Greek restaurant :):) Good thing was we've looked inside from windows then packed with many were people eating .. lol
We'v e gotta table for two.. It was bit tight with so many people but I won't complains :):) You need to mention about bread which is comes with if you order meals .. We didn't know then we've found out. Its tummy!
Service was great! Charming .. The foods? It's not as great but with that reasonable price? I said understandable ..
Greek salad was absolutely fantastic .. Simple and fresh!!
we've gotta Grilled whole red snapper with Spinach rice and lamb fricassee.. The amount they serve was quite lots!
Spinach rice was not my favo.. I normally eat almost everything always but I could not finish it .. So next time I will go for the potatoes.
Impressed!!
I am a Greek person so, naturally, my standards for Greek food are high, but I can't help but applaud the authenticity of this Greek taverna hidden in Chinatown. My husband and I tried the chicken avgolemono soup, the lamb frikase, the fries with feta cheese and eggs and the mousaka. The flavors were spot on, the portions very generous, the service polite (but not Greek whatsoever) and the decor cosy and welcoming. Will definetely be coming back here. You can't reserve a table so do aim to arrive before 6:30pm if you want to have dinner before 10pm -tried once at 7:30 and everything was taken. Cheers!
