The entrance to this place looked very pretty.
Inside was very tidy and clean. Oddly I liked the adjustable lighting table lamps that let me take a closer look at my food. We came here on a Sunday night for restaurant week. It was quiet. There were at most 2 other tables at one point and that's it. Thought the service would be a bit more personable since it wasn't busy but it was standard which was fine. The drinks were pretty good. We opted for the non alcoholic ones. Sakura lychee had a nice fragrance to it and the melon soda green tea didn't have much of a green tea flavor (if any at all) but was still very good. Miso soup I felt tasted like standard miso soup you get anywhere else except there were more ingredients inside. I wasn't sure what they were but didn't seem to change the taste for me. The crispy fish was pretty good. Texture was really crispy all around. Squeezing some lemon and dabbing some sea salt really elevated the experience. The main course, chef selected nigiri, was a nice variety of flavors. Each one had a tiny bit of garnish on top but packed big flavors. I'm usually a bit basic and prefer to eat salmon or tuna all the time. But I enjoyed all the varieties on this plate. Not sure if the price is worth it but was restaurant week and thought I'd try it.

My wife loved the Avocado Tuna Bowl, vibe was perfect for date night. Service was excellent and attentive. Was surprised by how beautiful the food was.

3 stars because of the limited menu and inability to make changes. The design of the space is modern and clean. Most seats are at the counters. The server was efficient, but there's not a lot of service. There are no special orders. For example, they will not make a roll without seaweed - with just rice, rice paper, or cucumber. We ordered a bowl with salmon; to have it seared, they charged $6 more. The Yon Sushi Set was fresh and satisfying for dinner. We enjoyed the little garnishes on top of the sushi, especially the black garlic.
Be the first to ReplyThe food is amazing in here.
I always takeout from here but I decided to have dine in today. It was wrong idea. This review isn't for the food, it's for the waiter only. Again food is great!! The service is really need to improve. I ordered Salmon don and the waitress was asking me if I want to have egg yolk on the top. I didn't order egg yolk with it but she asked me twice, so I said yes sure. In the menu they didn't say about and she didn't mention at all if that's charged. When the bill comes, it says egg yolk is $6 additional. Ok, I didn't ask if it's charge or compliment so I accept it. However I suggested to her should mention for next customer if they want to have egg yolk and its additional. She was just say "oh, ok you didn't know". THATS IT, NO APOLOGIES AT ALL. Also after I told her about egg yolk issue, she was stand right next to me when I doing tip, it's like make sure I give her enough tip. What kind of education she got or the restaurant gave? I strongly suggest you go with takeout if you don't want to bump into her. I don't think I will dine in again. I will do take out.
Be the first to ReplyI've passed by this spot so many times.
I thought they were going down during COVID and I'm so happy they stuck around. Amazing service and cozy spot during the fall/winter months. I started with Chianti and moved right into the futomaki Marguro Mama and a maki marinated shiitake mushroom. Everything was very fresh and filling! Would highly recommend: Food: 5/5 Ambience: 4/5 Service: 4/5

Spicy tuna futomaki with some chianti red.

Went with a group of friends on a Thursday night and we were the only group so it felt like a private omakase experience for us which was really nice! The servers were super attentive, our courses came out great, and the uni tasted delicious. Overall, I had a great time!

I just ordered from them and they took over an hour to make my food. And when I called multiple times, the staff were extremely rude and not helpful. I ordered and ate this restaurant many times in the past so I'm very disappointed at their treatment to any customers let alone someone who had been loyal. I think their management should seriously think about looking into better staff members.
Be the first to ReplyI'm bummed to say it, but this place is not worth the price.
I got an omakase special with a salmon-cu futomaki roll. The fish was not fresh, and it tasted as if the toppings were used to mask how not fresh the fish was. It wasn't inedible, but it definitely wasn't good, and with the price, it should have better accolades than "not inedible." I would not go here again, nor would I recommend it.

We were contacted by the operations manager who apologized profusely for the delayed response. He was able to route our gift card to the correct email address.

Be the first to ReplyTruly horrible experience.
I came here with my boyfriend for Valentines Day. The whole fixed price deal is extremely misleading. Aside from that, we were told on our reservation that we had 120 minutes for our meal. The food took the span of 3 hours to come out. Not one staff person cared that they were completely late on everything. The place is so overpriced for what it is - the fish is fine. You can find better sushi/omakase elsewhere in the neighborhood. They have an "I don't care attitude" there and we are glad we now know to never go back.

This restaurant is terrible - the worst sushi experience I have ever had. No pluses, only minuses for this place. Where do I start. How anyone can give this place 4-5 stars much less 2-3 is beyond me.This restaurant is fairly new to the neighborhood and, based upon the reviews, I had been wanting to try it; so I went today at 5:30 when they opened. The place isn't all that large, but they have enclosed sidewalk seating, where I sat. Although they tried to make the decor appealing, I just found it depressing and had a desire to leave shortly after I sat down. Despite their efforts, you definitely know you are eating on the sidewalk. I often like dining outside, but there is something about this place that just doesn't work. They have artificial hanging flowers under the roof and seating for approximately 20 people outside and probably about 30 inside where there is a bar, a sushi bar, and a few tables. The popular music they were playing was a little too loud which made it difficult to understand the servers because their English wasn't that clear in the first place. The service was sporadic, and the servers seemed inexperienced. I asked the same person twice for the check, but she was busy at other tables, and didn't seem to know how to handle two things at the same time. Finally, after about 10 minutes, I got the attention of the Manager, and he brought the check. He was apologetic and asked me how the food was. I had to be honest with him. I didn't very much like it at all, and I have had a lot of sushi in my life. He encouraged me to come back and try again, but that won't be happening - too many good restaurants in NYC. With me, one strike and it is on to better things (hopefully)Now for the food: For a sushi restaurant, the menu was sparse and didn't offer too many selections. They had a few pieces of nigiri and some sashimi you could order - the standard stuff - and 3 meal choices. One was $38 for 4 pieces of nigiri and a futomaki roll, another was the Roku for $58 for 6 pieces of sushi & a futomaki roll. The 3rd was a sushi bar or table dinner for $120.I opted for the Roku, which also included miso soup and edamame, but overall I was sorely disappointed. I started out with the cheapest "hot" sake they had - $18 for an 8 oz glass (total ripoff). The sake wasn't very good and not very hot. By the time I got 1/4 through it was cold. This was such a little amount of sake for a meal. I really wanted more but, at that price, no way. Most Japanese and Chinese restaurants serve sake in a carafe so that it stays hot, and they usually charge a more reasonable price. This place needs to re-evaluate how they serve sake. The miso soup was tasty enough, but just broth with 2 pieces of tofu and 1 piece of seaweed. The edamame was bland. Usually it is cooked in salt water to give it some flavor, but in this case, they didn't bother with the salt.Although the sushi seemed to be fresh, the preparation was a little weird. All of it was too cold, like it had just come out of the refrigerator. It should be more room temperature. The futomaki was obviously pre-made and not the best. It was seaweed with rice inside and inside that a chunk of cucumber, a little bit of avocado, some yucky spinach, and another yucky something I couldn't identify. The 6 pieces of nigiri were pretty standard stuff - salmon, tuna, scallop, yellowtail, and a couple of other pieces I wasn't sure of. The waitress tried explaining to me what they were, but the music was so loud and she was so hard to understand that I basically didn't pay any attention. There was nothing really interesting about any of these pieces. A couple of them had been slightly tweeked, ie salmon with lemon which actually ruined it and a piece I couldn't identify with some weird stuff on it, which also wasn't very good. There wasn't even any ginger.I guess it is pretty obvious that I won't be returning to this restaurant. I was so unhappy that I just left a 10.5% tip whereas I always leave at least 15%. The total was over $90 with the tip, and I just basically felt very cheated. This meal wasn't even worth $50.
Be the first to ReplyI've heard good things about Kissaki and it did not
I've heard good things about Kissaki and it did not disappoint. I came here for restaurant week and the nigiri pieces were really fresh and high quality. I would totally come back for regular omakase which I think is $100 for 15 pieces. Good vibes inside.
Be the first to ReplyAnother GREAT Restaurant Week deal, $60 for omakase!
Another GREAT Restaurant Week deal, $60 for omakase! Included 2 small appetizers, 8 pieces of sushi, and dessert. Highlights for me was the toro sushi and dessert, which was a Spanish inspired bread pudding with hints of orange and burnt brown sugar on top. Service was a little slow, though not a huge deal, I think they were just a bit overwhelmed with the amount of reservations on a Friday night during RW. Interior is beautiful and sleek, definitely want to come back for a regular course dinner or other omakase experience.

I have been wanting to try Kissaki sushi for awhile now and I'm glad I finally did. I heard they were having a restaurant week deal that was well worth the $60 and it did not disappoint! We arrived 30 minutes earlier than our reservation and they were very nice and still sat us. The servers we had all very attentive and gave knowledgeable explanations on every dish which is very important when having omakase. Great ambiance as well very relaxing meal experience. Lastly the FOOD! We got the restaurant week special for 1 appetizer, 8 nigiri and a dessert. The first appetizer was the hamachi with shallots in some sort of sauce which was delicious. Next they also gave a soup as a second appetizer not listed in the menu which was a nice touch and it was simple yet had everything it needed. The soup was a clam and melon in a dashi broth. Following that came the star of the show, the nigiri! We are from right to left starting with the egg which was perfect and ending with the fatty tuna which left us not only satisfied but wanting more. Dessert followed shortly and blew our mind not only with flavor but the texture and balance a milky cake that was not too sweet but warm with some caramelization. I am already looking forward to coming back!
Be the first to ReplyFirst time doing a restaurant week omakase.
I would stay away and recommend doing a regular omakase. Fish was not too fresh, and every bite was absolutely overkill with the wasabi. I'm sure their regular counter omakase is great, but would definitely stay far away from their restaurant week promotion.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is absolutely fabulous.
The food and the service is impeccable. I highly recommend this place. Best sushi I've ever had.
Be the first to ReplyAlways a great choice.
Definitely among the best futomaki in NYC. Their Omakase selection is wide and of good quality. Staff is knowledgeable and careful with allergies.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place to visit in NYC.
Find it by accident but was really happy after all. The menu is quite classic with nigiri, omakase, sashimi. The prices are a bit high, but once you try the food, the price doesn't bother you anymore. Good atmosphere and nice music inside. Definitely worth a try.
Be the first to ReplyWell, I got this juuni set, there was an hair in it.
I couldn't eat the thing at all after finding out right before I eat that piece. They gave a $20 refund, lol, after finding that, I lost all of the appetite.
Be the first to ReplySide note: my second experience at this sushi chain.
And the experience was amazing again. Food was great as expected, sushis crafted one by one in front of you as per the tradition. The fish selection is also well done. The service at this restaurant was on par. Waiters well-acknowledged about menu and specials. In sum, experience there is still outstanding and I can totally recommend Kissaki to anyone craving sushi. It's high-end without the attitude which we love. A+
Be the first to ReplyI visited their restaurant in Florida and came to explore
I visited their restaurant in Florida and came to explore new spots around! The menu differs compared to O By, but the main options are still the same. I enjoyed chutoro with medium fatty tuna and caviar on the top. Also for recommendation stands the chirashi bowl with uni, it's not only tasty but so colorful and beautifully served! I'll be here again Decent 4 from 5

Proper safety measures against COVID19 and great service! I love that the restaurant is operated by the chef who can tell more with the dishes about his culture than with any words. Omakase - simply incomparable, worth trying even for such big money (I chose the smallest position and anyway was full with it, so don't pay a lot of attention to the size, it's quite nutritious. Thanks separately for Strawberry Gin Fizz, such an interesting taste and so light and fresh! To get acquainted briefly with the menu and prices - just open the website, btw, made my reservation there, fast and without unnecessary talks
