One of my favorite sushi places in LA.
Come for lunch and get their Bento Box. It will fill you up. It's the right amount of sushi. Their sushi is definitely top tier and tasty. Plus the ambiance is so nice, especially for a lunch or dinner date. Both indoor and outdoor season. The service is super cool as well and attentive to your table. Highly recommend!

Be the first to ReplyMenu needs to be updated on Yelp but this place never
Menu needs to be updated on Yelp but this place never disappoints. My favorite item on the menu has to be the corn tempura. The sauce that comes with it is magical and literally gives my mouth an orgasm. There's never a time I order it that it disappoints. The outdoor dining patio is perfect in the spring and summer. The inside is just like any other traditional sushi spot. The iced green tea with Splenda is always amazing also!
Be the first to ReplyThe food is amazing first of all, I have been coming here
The food is amazing first of all, I have been coming here for around 6-7 years and it's my favorite sushi spot in LA. The servers are incredibly friendly people. The ambience is nice to, the sushi bar and the kitchen you can see in the entrance is a nice touch, the walls are also really cool, I think it's a Japanese garden I Recommended: baked crab roll (hand) crispy rice and spicy tuna, corn tempura, and the black truffle albacore.
Be the first to ReplyOne of, if not THE best sushi spots in the Valley.
Honestly there's not much to say other than the fact that the sushi is just incredibly delicious. Their service is also fantastic - wait staff are SUPER attentive. I've had a variety of rolls and sashimis from their menu and everything has been amazing. My personal favorite is the jumbo scallop sushi with yuzu - YUM!
Be the first to ReplyI had a really good experience in this sushi restaurant
I had a really good experience in this sushi restaurant thatnk you to our Waitress show was awesome and the food was soooooooo fresh.
Be the first to Reply5 stars once again, amazing service from Hana.
The best server there is , definitely take a visit for her. HOWEVER we did have horrible experience with one of the servers. We noticed our original server Kazumi greeted us, but then within 25 minutes we never saw her again and were waiting to order. Hana immediately came and checked in with us. Not to sound snobby but me and my family have been dining with the KATSU-YA Group for years, and only recently been coming to Kiwami. The food is phenomenal, I will say though the garlic albacore special was horrible. I think the combination doesn't go well at all, especially with the unnecessary truffle on top. The garlic butter combo goes best with yellowtail! We got many of the specials, got the toro nigiris with the wasabi on top (amazing quality) , got shishitos, edamame, Handroll, creamy salmon roll, 4 rounds of sake, and so much more !! All amazing quality as always. After coming to kiwami for months now, I will say I am beyond grateful for how Hana handle's situations and how delightful she is in her suggestions. Always recommends the best foods, gives great tips on combos, and has amazing energy. Everytime we've ate here , she has been phenomenal and I have recommended Kiwami solely because of the great service provided. Our original server Kazumi took almost 30 minutes to take our order, it was not busy at all, and we noticed very nasty stares from her to our table every so often. Even though we just placed a couple started from Hana, Kazumi still never checked in with us until it was time to buss the table and bring the check. We also noticed that the check had Kazumi's name on it which meant our tips will be going towards her, even though she never took any of our orders throughout the night, never checked in with us, and never served us ever ! OFC we tipped Hana, and ofc we left a tip on Kazumis check because we will never leave a $0 tip. Just pointing out that every time I come here, Hana is always quick to greet customers and makes sure all tables leave happy. She even checked in with us when she noticed we didn't touch the garlic albacore special that we didn't like ! Maybe we caught Kazumi on a bad day, but never checking in with us and giving us dirty looks just because we asked another server, who we were familiar with and absolutely loved, was uncalled for. Just check in with the guest next time! All is well, thank you Hana (insert heart emoji) See you next time !

Absolutely delicious! I've been here dozens of times and it never fails to impress me. Definitely make a reservation as it usually is pretty packed. Their baked crab hand rolls are perfect.
Be the first to ReplyI am in town for a trade show in Anaheim and I was visiting
I am in town for a trade show in Anaheim and I was visiting a customer who is up in the area. He chose to come here, and I was very, very happy that he chose this location. First of all, they have valet. It's $8 for lunch, not sure if it goes up for dinner but this is pretty reasonable for lunch. Max was the valet that took my car, I was early for the lunch but no problem, I went and checked in with Luke at the host stand. I made a reservation for lunch to make sure we had a table, but to be honest my customer is basically well known here and eats here with his family often. So we received excellent service and I let him order everything for lunch. We had two servers for our meal. First off, Erik was the starter for our meal, and then Hana was the server who ended and closed out our check. I won't recall everything we ate, but I took photos and I will tell you that the meal was epic. The edamame was so tasty- spicy garlic flavor...hard not to mow it down right away, and the cucumber salad is a pretty simple dish, but you can tell how good a place is by the effort they put into making both dishes. The crispy rice spicy tuna roll was also crazy delicious. Texturally the crispy rice is an awesome idea for the juxtaposition with the freshest of fish. We had the spicy tuna with popcorn shrimp ("popcorn") because they were large pieces! They offer low sodium soy sauce, but also their own homemade soy sauce so I went with that. I was so full at the end of the meal. It was a long drive back to my hotel, but it was worth it. Many thanks to the entire team here at Kiwami. Not only did I entertain my customer who went to a great place he loved to eat- but now I'm hooked as well. Hope to be back sometime soon! Support small owned businesses!

The new favorite spot for sushi with my family! There's this adorable young woman with bright red hair who complemented my blazer one night--she made my experience so pleasant! It's cozy, nicely designed, and a place to spot celebrities every now and then.Best menu items: Salmon Sashimi, Rainbow Roll, Tuna Sashimi, Super Toro, Brussels Sprouts, Vegetable Tempura, Albacore Sashimi. Yellowtail Sashimi, Tuna on Crispy Rice, Assorted Nigiri, Crab Hand Rolls, and Mixed Vegetable Roll
Be the first to ReplyI eat at this restaurant once or twice a week.
It is fantastic. I dine out a ton and just love the amazing quality of the food and outstanding service here at Kiwami. I bring people here from all over the US and the world to the restaurant, and everyone one of them are blown away. The sushi is better or at least as good as Nobu without all the pretentiousness and drama. it is a winning combination that is amazing! I read some of the 1 star reviews for sport and it made me laugh. Get real people... this place is OUTSTANDING!
Be the first to ReplyFirst, let me start of by saying that I feel for the guy
First, let me start of by saying that I feel for the guy that posted about being sort of led down the path of getting the more expensive sushi without really understanding what the costs involved would be. I had the exact same sushi boss at the bar (Mac) and he's pretty smooth like that. The owners must love him because from the moment my friend and I sat down, he was sort of working in "the specialty things" that are "not even on the menu" (my quotes, not his). Well, if they are so good, why don't you put them on the menu and then hand me that menu so I can see what the prices are? Because who wants to be the "cheapskate" that has to ask for the price on every piece before he orders it? It kinda takes away from the vibe and the flow. It's kind of like when, in other restaurants, they tell you what the "specials" are but rarely give you the prices and you are always a little shocked when you get the bill even though you should have known that "special" also means "special price". For example... the cost here at Kiwami of a normal sushi order of albacore belly (two pieces in the order) is $6.50. But by the time the chef got done making it "special" (hit it with a blow torch for two seconds, add some garlic chips or smokey salt or whatever), it was $15. I mean, that's not egregious given where you are... this ain't some AYCE place... but just be aware. But getting back to this particular lunch, I have to say I would have felt like I was disappointing the sushi chef if, despite the suggestions, all I ordered was the regular stuff off the menu... but that's on me, right? So, yeah, it's a little weird being in this semi-omakase situation.Because the other side of that coin is going to a sushi bar that doesn't know how to do ANYTHING creative... the fish might be reasonably-priced but boring. So that whole angle aside... place was great, the "special" sushi was, in fact, really good. The service was awesome from everyone. Our chef (Mac) really put out some interesting combinations... I may not remember exactly but things like "slightly seared salmon belly with a bit of guacamole and yuzu". I may be mixing up my pieces but you get the idea. So I may be busting his chops about about being a little too smooth with the "nudge-nudge-wink-wink, I'll make you something special"... but I would be totally happy sitting in front of him next time. It's like ya know he's a bit of a "sushi salesman" but also really charming. And the fact is, my friend said it was the best sushi he'd every had and I really like how the chef explained everything he was doing... it's like the sushi came with a bit of a show. He is a big plus for the place... but even without Mac the place is just what it should be for a $$$ sushi bar on sushi row in Studio City... classy vibe, good sushi.

Way way way over priced! I don't mind paying for quality but this was a situation where the price far outweighed the quality.
Be the first to ReplyCame here through recommendation of a friend and enjoyed
Came here through recommendation of a friend and enjoyed our night. Great service and great quality fish. We upgraded the yellowtail jalapeรฑo and albacore crispy rice dishes to get belly for both and super worth it! The super toro was like butter, just melted in your mouth. Albacore belly and albacore belly crispy rice were our favorites as well. Sooo good! Spicy tuna crispy rice was also ok but I've had better. Was not impressed with the blue fin tuna and yellowtail jalapeรฑo as much as it tasted a little fishy! Also did not like the fried ice cream as it was more bread like then tempura. Overall it was a good new place to try out with not much of a wait for a Friday night.
Be the first to ReplyQuality has fallen off dramatically.
Not as fresh, doesn't have that katsuya flavor and touch anymore. Too bad. Loved this place.
Be the first to ReplyAverage sushi.
The "high" quality fish were sub par and crazy expensive. Toro was $52 for average fish. Much better places to spend my money that here. Will never go back.
Be the first to ReplyMy friend and I felt really misled by the sushi chef here.
We were searching for a place that was relatively affordable for sushi, which is tough to begin with. As typical struggling-artists-in-LA, sometimes I feel out of place among other Studio City diners (1%ers) and resent when it feels like a restaurant expects me to treat my dining experience like money is no object by not addressing the cost or prices of menu items. That is exactly what happened. We walked in and didn't have a reservation so they seated us at the bar. It was confusing because the sushi chef, a young guy named Mac, asked us what we wanted to start out with but so did another server. Right off the bat, I should have asked if he was taking our order and how this would work. He was nice and said, "I'm going to give you VIP treatment -- I'm gonna take care of you." and then, "Want to sample some sushi to see if you want to order it?" While, yes, looking back we were very foolish to think this meant that he was gonna give us a free sample, he should have been super forthright from the get-go about how much it would cost and not have been evasive with deceptive claims like "I'm gonna take care of y'all" and "Want to 'try' another. He didn't tell us it was omikase. He didn't tell us what he was serving us. After two rounds of his 'samples', I figured this wasn't a free ride, lol and I pointed to the menu and asked what exactly we had ordered. He was vague, saying just the name of the fish, not the roll. Yes, again, I kicked myself later for not clarifying because I was worried I might get him in trouble for possibly giving us a sample if I drew attention to it and for fear of being impolite or rude to ask abt the price for his amazing creation. Nevertheless, it was obvious what I was asking and he still should have clarified. He gave us two more rounds. All in all, it was eight pieces of sushi a person. We also had one crispy rice tuna app and one sake (app $12 and $28 respectively). Then, (and this is how I know that he had a slight idea of what he was doing) right before the bill, he excused himself for a 10 min break. The bill was astronomical for us. $160. we were both still hungry and felt confused and tricked. He also charged each roll extra for making it "special". While yes, I was an idiot for assuming that he would let us know before screwing us over, he should have told us explicitly what we were ordering and the cost before he started giving us food. Of course, as soon as we left, we saw him come back from his 'break' and avoid any unpleasantness he might have encountered as we gaped at the bill...Out of that conditioned nice-girl politeness that we both suffer from, we raved abt the taste to his face, but the sushi, though tasty, was middling and definitely not worth the slipperiness of the chef nor the price. Oh, AND, my friend was allergic to shellfish. Though Mac said he would avoid it completely, she still woke up with sneezing, sniffling, and swelling that night, suggesting there was cross-contamination. Will not be supporting an establishment in which an employee willfully misleads its patrons, esp when there are so many other delicious sushi joints around.

Be the first to ReplyBest sushi ever.
Fresh and very yummy!I absolutely loved it, also their pricing is very reasonable and great service !
Be the first to ReplyNote: The food and dinner service were very good.
Your valet at your Kiwami location assaulted a customer on the night of January 4th, 2023. Nothing was said to initiate the contact. Saw it from the patio, the valet laughed manically, grabbed the customer by the neck and head, tried to pull the customer down but the customer knocked the valet off of him and then the valet pursued the customer, shouting at him, ripping his jacket, threatening further violence, as he walked toward him aggressively, before telling the customer to leave the premises.Incredibly uncomfortable. Nothing was done, the valet continued to work as we left, thankfully, we did not use him to park our car.

We placed a $90 order for this place on Doordash and we forgot to add spicy Mayo to our order. We called the restaurant and we're told they cannot give us the spicy Mayo because the order was already placed and there's a charge for it... we spoke to a waiter, a hostess and then finally the manager whom I then asked to charge and toss it in my order. She was nice enough not to charge for it but the hoops I had to jump through to get some spicy Mayo was ridiculous. The entire order didn't even have ginger or wasabi on the side and the portions were small. First and last time with this place.
