Excellent vegan ramen that we thoroughly enjoyed.
The broth was very unique pumpkin soup based and we tried both the desserts which were very well balanced as well. It would be great if they added more broth/soup to the vegan ramen and add more vegan options to their menu. Service is very friendly, there is waiting as this place is very popular but the wait-list moves very fast so it's managed really well. Kudos to team on that The ambience is supposed to mimick a fish market and I found that quite fun too.

Arrived Paris on Christmas Day and most of the places are closed. I planned to come try this Ramen place as it's in my neighborhood. It's absolutely delicious. The broth temperature is hot enough and the noodle hardness is perfect. Because it is made out of the Chicken broth and instead of the Pork broth, it gives me an unique taste to it without any greasy feel. Loved their Eggs ! I'm very picky and ate many Ramen in Asia and U.S., I would say this is definitely something I haven't tasted of before. I give it a 5 Star review.

We were craving ramen while feeling under the weather, so we set out to find the best spot in Paris. Of course, a ramen spot featured in the Michelin guide piqued our interest. (It bears repeating, being included in the Michelin guide is NOT the same as being Michelin-starred. Very few restaurants in this price range would achieve a star, BUT being in the guide is a huge honor nonetheless). We came expecting great ramen, but they shot straight past even that high bar. The broth of the Niboshi Paitan had unreal umami, and was rich and delicious in a way I haven't tasted outside Japan. There just aren't words! I wished I had more room for more add-ons, but the roasted tomato added a nice brightness. Now to the negatives: yes, it's crowded. It's a testament to its quality, in a way - would you trust a dead restaurant? We were able to snag a table with a 20 minute wait in the off hours, around 4 PM. Downloading the Skeepit app prior to arriving would have shaved that down even more. Service can be a little harried due to the crowds, but it's par for the course for Paris. The decor is amazingly detailed, down to a soundtrack of alley noises that plays on repeat. That being said, the dedication to alley clutter combined with the crowds means that you will be eating while shoulder to shoulder with strangers. Overall, it's telling of how much we enjoyed our ramen that we ended up trying the other Kodawari location the next day.
Be the first to ReplyHands down, the best ramen I've had outside of Japan.
The broth is extremely rich, flavorful, and packed with umami. The quality of the Iberico ham takes the noodles to another level. However, expect the wait time to be 2+ hours, even outside of peak meal hours. We ordered the Noboshi Paitan Ramen and Kurogama Ramen. The broth for both boasts a thicker consistency and is super rich, with a comforting amount of noodles. Slurping on the broth with the perfectly bouncy and chewy noodles is a delightful experience. The noodles, cooked to perfection, soak up the flavors of the broth and complement the pork beautifully. The sardine infusion in the Noboshi elevates the umami to indescribable levels. While the veggies and egg don't add much, the star of the show is the heavenly combination of broth and noodles. However, a key frustration is the insane wait times - 2+ hours, even outside peak hours. The QR code system helps, but even tho we found ourselves at the top of the list, there'll still be 5 parties waiting ahead of us... meaning another 30 min wait. Another oddity is the absence of hot beverages; not even hot tea or water, which is unusual for an Asian restaurant. They only serve cold teas and other cold beverages, so don't even bother asking for a hot drink. Despite these drawbacks, I've frequented this restaurant on all my recent visits to Paris and plan to continue. The deliciousness of the ramen makes it worth enduring the frustrating wait times, lack of hot beverages, and the noisy interior.

It took two nights but we were able to get in to an Early seating. I can't say enough good things about the food and environment.
Be the first to ReplySuper busy and small ramen restaurant.
Their attraction is that it looks like a Japanese fish market which is cute. The ramen is different from what I've had before as it is fish based broth vs pork. I had the traditional with chef add on. We shared gyoza, edamame and cucumber apps. Seating is tight and uncomfortable- reason for four stars. Worth a try for sure!
Be the first to ReplyOmg! The ramen is to die for.
Come and eat here, it is affordable and delicious but be ready for a wait as it is popular.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is worth the hype.
Downloaded their waiting app and it quoted me 35 minutes but I got sat in 20. I ordered their specialty black sesame ramen and it was perfectly rich and the noodles were super chewy. You can watch the cooks put the food together if you get sat at the bar. Because this place tries to push as many turnovers as possible, not a great place to sit and chill or catch up with a friend but for a great solo meal, it's wonderful.
Be the first to ReplyMy girlfriend and I tried both kodawari ramen.
This one specializes in meat ramen. I personally thought these were more flavorful. My girlfriend thought the seafood one had better flavoring. Admittedly the ingredients were very fresh there but I think the broth and noodles were more authentic at this location. The seafood themed one also has an extremely fishy smell. Very important to note they use this app called skeepit that has a radius of 3 miles. If you are able to download it early and get into the virtual que it'll save you a lot of time and headache. The wait is also pretty long (in the hours duration). Ramen is pretty authentic especially for France. It's on par with a relatively decent ramen in Japan I think. Worth the visit if you're looking for Michelin places in France. Highly recommend you doing the chef recommendations for the ramen.

The story of the place and the ingredients they use here are worth 5 stars. What other place grows, mills, and makes noodles with their own wheat? Definitely worth a try if you're craving ramen in Paris!!!
Be the first to ReplyI have had many ramen in my eating career and I have had
I have had many ramen in my eating career and I have had great bowls of ramen. The ramen at Kodawari is fine; they are not the best I've had but they aren't bad. I ordered some add-ons such as egg, menma, and nori. They messed up my egg (see picture). The best part about these seasoned eggs are their yolks yet my egg was broken (not cut) and the yolk melted in the broth. Menma was pretty good despite slightly salty. I also ordered green tea and was hoping for some real green tea but ended up with green tea in a bottle. Gross! We were seated at the counter where I got to see a lot of actions from the kitchen staff. It was an interesting experience. They also asked for tips when it's time to pay. Tipping isn't a thing in Paris because staff are paid living wages. So, when they asked customers for tips, it seemed a bit crass. Oh well.
Be the first to ReplyI have a hate and love feelings toward this place.
I hate that the wait is long and the space is tiny but I love the ramen. I came here on a Sunday evening with a party of 2. We got on the waitlist around 6pm and the wait time was 25 - 56min for being number 18 on the waitlist. The wait ended up being 2 hours because the wait time kept pushing back. If you could get a hold of the wait list QR code beforehand then I highly recommend that you put your name on the wait list before getting here. The ramen was the best I've had! The broth was very umami and toppings were delicious. The pork chashu and chicken was tender and flavorful, and the egg was perfectly cooked. The noodles were al dente and hold the broth really well. We tried the shoyu ramen and the kurugoma ramen, both with chef recommended toppings. The shoyu ramen was the best of best shoyu ramen I've had. I highly recommend it! Try kurugoma ramen if you want something special. The sesame broth was very aromatic and umami. The restaurant has very cool aesthetic and it reminded me a lot of Japan. We set near the door and we were squished by the people around us. Since it was winter when we visited, everyone had their big coats so there was not much room around. In terms of ramen, I will give this place 5/5. It was the best ramen I've had but I am not sure if any ramen will be worth 2 hours wait out in the cold and dark street. The tables and chairs were tiny so it was hard to eat as well.

Wanted to try the this ramen place, there's always a huge crowd of people waiting outside. There's a QR code you scan to be on the waitlist, it tells you the estimated time when it's your turn.Once it was our turn the hostess called out the name.We walked upstairs and was put into a small room, one large table where you gave to sit next to strangers. The room was decorated pretty well like old style Japan. There was also a old tv playing an old Japanese soap. The ramen was alright.Staff was friendly. When it was time to pay they brought over the machine and then as we were paying they asked us if we wanted to tip, so we did but in the other restaurants we've been to they don't ask about tip.

Stumbling across a Michelin star ramen spot, with no reservation, arriving right when they open, and not having to wait in line? Man we got lucky. On the hunt for dinner we came here after the original restaurant we were going to wasn't open. No wait. The place seems small, it's cramped. Some stools line the bar and a few small tables in the back are packed in. There's an upstairs, not sure how big that is.The ramen was insanely good. A hearty, thick broth. Rich pork. Perfectly oozy egg. It was incredible and worthy of the accolades. When we were leaving there were maybe 30 people outside waiting to get in. We arrived right on time and left with a full, warm belly for the cold and rainy walk home.

Small seating area in front of restaurant but Try to get seated in the group setting way in the back they also have ac, which is especially appreciated in 87° weather -we definitely needed it! Who eats hot Ramen an 87° weather? Me! One of the best Ramen I've had in a long time too bad I had to go to Paris to Enjoy it!

Worth the wait ! This was some of the best ramen i have ever had.

I had the black ginger garlic broth. The eggs were perfect. We will be back!
Be the first to ReplyEdit for second visit: By no fault of their own I waited in
Edit for second visit: By no fault of their own I waited in line for about 40 minutes. They only speak French and do not let those that don't know what's going on. I showed up and waited about 20 minutes while everyone after me checked in on a virtual line. Everyone behind me is now eating and those that came far after me are getting in before. I spoke to a waitress who did not care, then did the online check in and because my phone number isn't international (I thought it went through) I didn't get a response text, so after another 20 minutes of waiting my spot wasn't saved AGAIN. The only helpful person was the host to help me get in at about 40 minutes. Amazing food, great staff, killer prices. Will walk all around Paris to come back! The bathroom needs work but otherwise, amazing all the way around, I got a thicker broth, with sardine paste (you didn't taste it), and an egg. A beer, a coke, and water. The spacing in there is absolutely awful- do not come as a large group, I feel like that would be very rude to literally everyone else that will try to come to eat here lol. The space is very small, come alone or with one other.
Be the first to ReplyIt deserves the recognition it gets.
The atmosphere, the food, it's amazing. I would definitely recommend the Shoyu, it's one of the best ramen I have had the pleasure to eat. Get there early!
Be the first to ReplyProbably the best ramen you will find in Paris.
They are upfront about being inspired by Japan's ramen and bringing in the French side (e.g., how they cook their meat). GET THE SHOYU! SO good. I got the kurogama specialty ramen but it was too salty for me. The shoyu classic was impeccable, probably their best dish. Decoration and atmosphere is extremely cute. They have japan subway noises playing and creative seating for smaller partiesCame at 2:30p on a Tuesday so there was absolutely no wait and the ramen came very quickly.
Be the first to ReplyBeing that this restaurant has a Michelin star I don't
Being that this restaurant has a Michelin star I don't think there's that needs to be said from me lol. But I had a great experience here from beginning to end. I came on a weekday night and although the wait was around two hours -- since I was alone I was seated immediately which I loved. It's a very cramped space but authentic in that way as it mirrors the style of many Ramen restaurants in Japan. I got the black garlic Ramen and I could not believe how good it was like literally some of the best Ramen I've ever had in my life outside of Japan. The staff was very accommodating and there was a ton of stuff to look at so that I didn't need to be on my phone the whole time I ate. Definitely coming back here next time I'm in Paris.
Be the first to ReplyBest Ramen I have ever eaten.
The black sesame ramen is amazing. An incredibly authentic Japanese spot in Paris!

We couldn't even speak to each other besides occasionally making eye contact and saying "this is delicious!" Service was exceptional as well. Particularly Mathieu who plucked us from the line and brought us to the front because my fiancé was pregnant. He didn't make a big deal about it, it was just a very elegant move. Someone obviously raised Mathieu right.
Be the first to ReplySo glad we stumbled in on a whim! After walking around in
So glad we stumbled in on a whim! After walking around in the cold and drizzle for several hours, we decided to look for something hot and soupy. We found Kodawari Ramen on Yelp and lucky enough that it wasn't too far from where we were. We got to the place around 1:30 pm. It was perfect timing for us because 2 people had just left. Within several minutes, my wife and I were sat at the counter. Very nice traditional Japanese decor in a very tight cozy space. The waiter noticed that we didn't speak French so he switched out the French for the English menu. My wife ordered the Kurogoma ramen and I ordered Shoyu ramen, both with added toppings (chef's recommendations). Everything was so fantastic. The broth was AMAZING. We both looked at each other in awe as we finished our bowls. Perfect end to a cold and drizzled afternoon in Paris. We were so glad we found this place.
Be the first to ReplyVery good ramen with excellent staff.
It was the middle of the week and there was a line out the door. We were seated in a timely manner and received food and drinks shortly after being seated. Other then being a small space it was well decorated and provided a nice authentic ambience.
