Came for their happy hour menu.

4/5 by 👻 @Vanessa Y. on 03/26/2025

You order directly on the tablet on the table so you can always change your mind between the different menu tiers. The happy hour one comes with only two choices of meats: one pork and one beef, and limited side dishes such as takoyaki, kimchi. The higher tiers will have more options but for an all you can eat late night meal, sometimes quantity matters more than variety. The tablet ordering was a little funky since we had a large group so it was many small tables put together into one row but there was a tablet for every four top. The table number synced up with our entire table so each four top could order from their own tablet but it can get confusing when the food arrives since you don't know exactly which group ordered what. Since it was just one beef and one pork option though, it was easier for one group to just grab what they needed and pass the rest down the line. Only limitation with the tablet was that despite it being all you can eat, there was a strict time limit and you can only order 5 orders of an item at a time. So we had no choice but to put in many 5 orders of beef and pork just to ensure there was even enough food on the table. The beef and pork slices are thin. In the sukiyaki style cooking, they cooked in no time and paired great when you also order a side of rice, noodles or veggies since it was a mild sukiyaki broth. The broth does get a lot saltier over time due to the continuous cooking time so they also gave us a milder broth to add from time to time and that really helped. The late night still came with ice cream dessert which was melon Melona that day. Since our time was up, we felt a little rushed to pay since we already told them we were here for a birthday and came in with a birthday cake. Turns out, after we paid, the staff took the time to clean our tables to prepare a clean surface for the cake cutting and sharing. Staff even changed the restaurant music to Happy Birthday song for us when we were signing. They should have made us pay after the cake cause many of us agreed that the service for the cake and the music change in of itself deserved a few extra dollars of tips! Overall, a great value meal for under $30 for all you can eat late night. Food came out quickly and service was exemplary for the birthday execution

One of my go-to spots for a meaty feast.

4/5 by 👻 @Thomas T. on 03/25/2025

The concept is simple--cook your meat in a flavorful broth, dip it in a sauce if you like, and let your taste buds thank you. They offer different meat tiers, but the silver tier is usually good enough for me. Service has been pretty solid, with orders coming out at a good pace whenever I've been there.

Sukiyaki (Japanese style) hot pot near Richmond Centre.

3/5 by 👻 @Edward L. on 02/10/2025

Friends and I tried their late nite (2000 and later Monday to Thursday, 2100 and later Friday to Sunday as of the time of writing) special. Parking is available in the attached parkade. The interior is pretty dated, and was clearly once not a hot pot place. Place can get a bit steamy, but no biggie. Staff are friendly and very helpful. The ordering system here done via touch screen terminals at each table. Be sure to pick the correct option (dinner/late nite). I screwed this part up, but the staff were able to fix it without issues. There may be other differences, but late nite does not include deep fried chicken wings, and probably some other items. To order, select an item, then select the quantity. Meat orders are "ordered" per tray, mushrooms are per small bundle, and pretty much everything else is per piece. The interface is a bit clunky, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty straightforward. The orders come very quickly (in as little as 1-2 minutes), which is pretty impressive I must say. Not sure about the dinner option, but for late nite the eating window is 90 minutes, and yes, they time it. Do not be late. The sukiyaki hot pot itself is a rather shallow pan (compared to most other places such as Happy Lamb), so be sure not to turn the heat up too high, or all the soup will evaporate in no time. The "soup" actually consists of a soy(?) broth, and a more "bland" soup base, each served in its own mini teapot. This is actually quite nice, as one can adjust the saltiness as needed. Good: - Meat slices are nice and thin. Cooks quickly. - Includes goodies such as eggs, takoyaki, and 3 types of mushrooms. - The soup base is pretty good I must say. - Everything cooks very quickly thanks to the low volume of soup (shallow pan). - Coconut ice bar included as dessert. They should have other flavours, but were sold out the day we went. Not sure if we could have more than 1 each (I didn't ask). Bad: - 90 minutes is a wee bit short. My friends and I lost a bit of time trying to figure out the ordering system. We then had to haul it and stuff our faces. - Late nite selection is honestly quite limited compared to places like Happy Lamb (pricing very similar as of the time of writing). I think there are maybe 1/4 the items. Basically eat as many beef and pork slices as possible, and wash everything down with a pile of raw eggs, while adding some vegetables and mushrooms here and there. To be honest, this the one glaring flaw with our overall experience. Glad I tried this place, but for the same price, I'd rather go to Happy Lamb (I heard the Richmond location doesn't have AYCE FYI). Oh well, off the list.

There 3 levels of menu, black, silver and gold.

4/5 by 👻 @Iris M. on 06/02/2024

We opted for the silver menu coming in at $56.99 pp for weekend dinner. In hindsight, the black menu would have been the best choice. The only differences between the black and silver menu were the addition of a couple kinds of wagyu beef, and of course, the 24$ price difference. Some of the wagyu was great, some of it was terrible-see pictures for reference. After cooking in the sweet and salty sukiyaki sauce, there wasn't much difference between the wagyu and regular black menu beef. We enjoyed our meal but I'm left wondering if anything is made in house. All the appetizers, sukiyaki ingredients and desserts were all pre-made/store bought frozen items. Free parking on second and third floor of the parkade adjacent to the restaurant.

"Straight-Up Vibes at Kumo Sukiyaki" Yo, lemme tell ya

5/5 by 👻 @George A. on 05/07/2024

"Straight-Up Vibes at Kumo Sukiyaki" Yo, lemme tell ya 'bout Kumo Sukiyaki in Richmond - it's straight-up lit! Step into this joint, and you're instantly teleported to Japan with their dope decor and chill vibes. Now, when it comes to grub, they ain't playin' around. Their menu's packed with legit Japanese eats, but lemme tell ya, their sukiyaki is the real deal. Picture this: tender beef, veggies, and tofu swimmin' in a flavor-packed broth that's straight fire, yo. The chef's attention to detail is on point, and it shows in every bite. And yo, shoutout to the staff - they're mad cool and hella helpful. They got your back with dope recommendations and make sure you feel like fam from the jump. But yo, I gotta keep it real - I went HAMon that sukiyaki. I'm talkin' seconds, thirds, maybe even fourths. I was throwin' down so hard, I half-jokingly thought I might single-handedly shut 'em down 'cause I couldn't stop grubbin'. But nah, they held it down like champs. Oh, and peep this: I stacked those beef plates like a boss and straight-up demolished tons of desserts. From mochi ice cream to matcha cheesecake, they got the sweet game on lock. So if you're lookin' for a legit Japanese dining experience in Richmond, Kumo Sukiyaki is where it's at. Don't sleep on it, Yelpers.

4/5 by 👻 @Karen L. on 01/07/2024

The sukiyaki broth here is so good! After the first round, you can order most of the all you can eat foods via QR code (except for the meat and drinks). The desserts are great! They've got Kirkland chocolate covered ice cream bars and matcha ice cream mochis. We did have some orders of meat come out rather slow, which led us to being a bit confused on if our order was coming (so we should wait) or if we should order more. Which led to us getting full from waiting around. There's ample veggies, appetizers, and even at the lowest priced ayce, I think there's enough meat to meet your expectations! Drinks (non alcoholic) are all you can drink, but an additional surcharge per person if you want to unlock it. Free parking in the parking lot next to the restaurant.

Dined in with my girlfriend on a Sunday evening (we had a reservation) and it was packed enough with hour-long wait times. We ordered the $32.99 AYCE silver menu which includes pork belly, angus beef, and AAA+ boneless chuck flap. All side dishes, rice, udon, sauces and appetizers were ordered via QR code on the phone and meat was ordered through our waiter. Time-wise we received our food relatively fast and had great service - we ordered about 10 plates of the angus beef and combined with the sauces made it absolutely delicious and left us completely stuffed. The soup base costed $17.99, which would be more worth it with a group.

My first review of the year!!.

3/5 by 👻 @Lynn L. on 01/29/2023

. my hubby and I decided to try this newly opened spot after seeing it posted by one of my favorite food bloggers. It was about 8pm and was pretty busy. Reservations are recommended as we were the only ones who didn't have one but scored the last table for 2. This is an AYCE, (all you can eat) restaurant. The menu is pretty straightforward there are 3 levels/prices that you can choose from. They vary to the type of meat that you get. If you do not eat pork or beef this spot isn't for you unless you plan on eating veggies and the side dishes. There is 1 pork option available and 5 beef options. We choose the silver menu which includes the pork and 3 beef options including waygu. Silver option was $54.99. The menu starts with "Start here"... which will let you know that you must order the soup base. $17 gives you onions, waygu fat a pot of sukiyaki soup and a pot of water. This also said it included set up fee.... We didn't have help with this. We had to figure it out ourselves which we did incorrectly. If you ever have to do it yourself this is how. Turn on the table side burner. Add the waygu fat let the pot get hot add the onions to cook then add the sukiyaki sauce and a little water to get the consistency that you like. You have 3 sauce options, ponzu, some spicy sauce and the egg option. Spice lovers, basically this spot is zero level spicy. The egg is cracked into your bowl, scrambled and to be eaten raw. Sounds crazy but delicious with waygu beef in my opinion. The meat was very fresh and we enjoyed all the side dishes. The veggie/tofu/mushrooms options were good as well. Dessert... options 1) Mochi ice cream 2) Chocolate Ice cream bar 3) Fruit. All very good, the chocolate bar is a full size one!!!!! With tip and taxes our total was $170.00. Would we go back? Questionable, as there are so many other places we love for hotpot that won't break the bank.

Amateur hour.

2/5 by 👻 @Justin C. on 01/28/2023

Not a real AYCE experience, servers and management severe lacking. AYCE is about generous portions and eating/drinking to your heart's content. When we first flagged someone down after sitting at our table for 15-20 mins, the server wrote nothing down and likely did not submit our order as in the next 15 mins two separate servers also asked us if we were ready to order. Only one of the servers (older lady) was smart enough to write anything down, perhaps more experienced. But overall don't expect anyone to check on you, don't expect your drinks to be refilled, and fully expect to have to flag people down constantly. For example, we had 3 peach and 1 passionfruit drinks at our table. When it came time to refill, they brought us back 3 passion fruits and 1 peach. Why? Because no one writes anything down nor do they have proper software to track orders and it's generally quite hectic. Overall the food is decent as is the price for the quality and taste you get. The sides were decent as well like the tako wasabi and ebi mayo. But unfortunately they won't invest in proper training or POS software that can help the team function properly. We saw someone who may have been a manager just standing back and observing while all the servers looked quite stressed. Lot of mistakes and a really slow dinner service. Had they worked efficiently a lot more diners could go in and out of this place thus generating more revenue but it's a mess. Perhaps worth revisiting in 6 months to a year, but Kumo is going to have to go through a lot of growing pains if this is where they're at now after a few weeks of operation. The concept has potential but is hopeless if management does not reflect on how they need to improve. The reason I say it's not a real AYCE experience is that you're really at the mercy of the servers as to what you'll get. You can't just order what you want and expect to get it and just the act of ordering is an ordeal because no one cares to ask. Just sloppy overall.

So stopped by this place hoping to try it.

1/5 by 👻 @Jon L. on 01/07/2023

Very misleading...the prices you will see are not the real Price. Similar to a chinese hotpot place wherein you have to pay for the soup base for like $5-$10...here is $18 and set-up" fee. Meaning they bring the pot to the table and set up your cooking station/pot and give you scallion oil etc. what a joke. If you add this to your basic per pac fee depending in what tier you choose....you can easily pay a starting price of $100 for 2 and even more...just for a hotpot meal. Sure they have better desserts than most chinese hotpot places, and now have a promotion of all you can drink drinks, but thats the point, to make you full quick by plowing you with drinks and sugar. I'd rather have a 3 course down dinner at a highly rated restaurant for a better dining experience. Overpriced and overkill! I walked out upon seeing this. I can make it way cheaper at home. Only value is you get to eat wagyu. But when sliced that thin and cooked in broth and dipped in soy sauce, you wont know the difference. There is no way to tell If what they are serving you is really american or japanese wagyu. Totally not worth it. Cheers! Happy eating!

Newly opened sukiyaki all you can eat restaurant in central

4/5 by 👻 @Tina C. on 12/20/2022

Newly opened sukiyaki all you can eat restaurant in central Richmond. They are now doing soft opening and offered free all you can drink menu. We came yesterday as the freezing snow day, and it's the best way to warm up our body with delicious food. The menu has three levels with different quality of meats. Choose your menu with the hot pot sukiyaki base, and all other appetizers, vegetables, mains and desserts are all unlimited. We had try different parts of wagyu beef. They are very soft and tasty. Don't forget to put some veggies and undon at the end in the shabu shabu, it's one of the best part and makes you feel satisfied. We had chocolate ice cream bar for dessert and they are agreat to end the dinner. They're just recently opened and still short staffs, so sometimes there will be some wait. Service was still very friendly even they are pretty busy. Give it a try if you like Japanese sukiyaki.

4/5 by 👻 @Jennifer Y. on 12/10/2022

Difference being the differ t grades of meat. Although the day I went only the first 2 levels were available as their distributor for Japanese wagyu was not working so they did not have the Japanese wagyu to serve for the gold tier. We loved the table side service and the staff were very quick to serve us. They made sure that our order was put through and delivered quickly and that any empty plates we had were cleared from the table. My only complain is that they ran out of all kids of meatballs which is a staple in any kind of hotpot. We were also there around 4-5 which is pretty early. That being said since they are newly opened they are also serving bottomless drinks as part of the all you can eat menu.
