Wow, what a total bummer when the steaks were so bland and dry (and one of our orders was cooked to the wrong temperature). But nobody came by to check on us for 15 minutes after entrees were served. At that point it was late, we were tired after a long day of delayed flights/travel, and just wanted to leave and go to our hotel room. We debated trying to flag down a waiter to talk about it, but decided we didn't want to wait another 30 minutes for them to prepare new steaks for us. No waitstaff asked after the fact that we all left at least half of our steaks uneaten. (But maybe that's a los angeles thing? Do people do lots of performative eating where they don't clean their plates? For $85 prime filet, I'd hope you'd want to eat all of it). Honestly, the medium rare steaks were dry, too (not just the medium well). And so flavorless, which was the real crime. Dry and dull for a fancy steakhouse is unforgivable. It's like the kitchen forgot to season them at all, or to baste them with butter during the cooking. Maybe the head chef goes home before 9pm, so anything you order after that is a bust? I saw several underwhelmed reviews online before we went, but we hoped those were "outliers." The views are amazing, and the service started off wonderful. It was just weird that everyone disappeared after our entrees were served. We would have mentioned it if someone came by within 15 minutes of dropping off the plates. The cocktails were good. Our starters were decent (not amazing, but perfectly adequate). The homemade turmeric raisin bread and min baguettes were lovely. Then they brought out a selection of steak knives/styles from around the world, which got us even more excited for the steaks. So it was extra disappointing when the beef was so poorly cooked. Darn. The mac and cheese side was very tasty, at least. Going to a "fancy steakhouse" is my family's thing. We do a few times a year. All over the country. and La Boucherie was a huge fail on the steaks.
