Not worth the price and type of service.
Empty restaurant with just 3 guests. That should you tell you something if that is a Michelin star restaurant. Food was OK, nothing impressive to get the a star. The worst part was when the bill was delivered and the Maître asked me how much I would like to tip. Seriously? I have been all over the world in several Michelin star restaurants and I have never been asked in advance how much the tip will be. Totally unacceptable. What a shame
Be the first to ReplyTasty and creative dining with impeccable service
This is a one star Michelin restaurant worthy of at least two stars. The food was delicious (we had the tasting menu) and beautifully plated. It is located in an old historic building and we were given a quick tour of the little museum as well as led out to their fantastic terrace with an incredible view over Florence. A special touch was that the chef came out to each table after the guests had been seated and explained the evening's menu. He spoke English to us, French to the French speaking guests and Italian to the Italians. Impressive language skills as well as cooking skills!
Be the first to ReplyGreat views but food awful and overpriced
You can’t fault the service. You can’t fault the wine. You can’t fault the view. But…the majority of the 9 courses were misfires. Everything needs to be stripped back and simplified. It started with 5 depressing canapés. The only one worth trying was the one that almost had the flavour of a crab bisque but like all the others was dry. The beetroot tataki with herbs from the garden was a good starter as was the focaccia with the smoked rosemary lard but to follow this with more bread with the chicken liver parfait was a carb overload so early in a 9 course tasting menu. The shrimp and saffron was delicious and had flavours of a lighter version of paella with the hazelnuts reminding me of the socarrat that everyone fights for and the shrimp so softly and perfectly cooked. From there it was all downhill - except for the great wine. We went on to eat 6 pasta shapes that were beyond al dente with the smallest smear of courgette purée. It was the poorest execution of pasta I’ve ever tasted. My wife was unable to eat hers and tried to eat some of it out of politeness. The cappelletti with smoked aubergine was ok but the yoghurt was grainy and just unremarkable. The biggest disaster by far was the langoustine with chalky chick peas in what can only be described as Heinz salad cream sauce. The plate was hot but the sauce with the chickpeas was cold. The langoustine was well cooked but had been covered in gold leaf for no reason whatsoever - it felt like a poor attempt to convince people that their bill should total 180 euros each without wine or service. As we approached course no.7 of the 9 course tasting menu, we were hoping we might just hit the meat course of the menu. A meagre portion of pigeon appeared with a shrivelled piece of salsify - no love or care had been shown to this usually delicious vegetable. This was also accompanied with extremely bitter miniature bon bins that were again inedible. At this point we asked if we could just get the bill and opt out of dessert. We were hoping that the trajectory would improve as we went through the courses but instead things declined. The staff were excellent and tried to win us over with some complimentary petit fours, deducting the desserts off the final cost, providing some candied nuts and taking us to the top terrace for an exclusive view of the city. BUT unfortunately the central component to the success of the dinner - the food was totally off. Maybe the a la carte is better but judging by the standard of the tasting menu, I would find this hard to believe. This was far from Michelin star worthy and I would suggest it is inspected again soon so that other diners don’t suffer the same fate as us and are saddled with a hefty bill for food they would’ve rather avoided.
Be the first to ReplyBAD EXPERIENCE
I went there in person to ask some questions in preparation to arrange a dinner and the director welcomed me very badly. No emotional intelligence neither customer focus. I lived in Florence for 25 years and I never had a bad experience as this. I traveled around the world and I have visited many locations and I never seen something unacceptable as in this location. I never will be visiting this restaurant anymore. I don't know how Michelin stars are achieved but some important factors have been missed here. Antonio Rito
Be the first to ReplyLeft us speechless
One of the best restaurants we have ever been to. Excellent atmosphere, wonderful view, super friendly staff. We took a three course menu and decided to go for a desert later. The taste of the dishes was complex, very flavourful. Every course had its own touch. The chef took really good care of us, helped us with the choices and advices on the wine. The whole experience was amazing. We would like to kindly thank the chef, Filippo Saporito, for the one-of-a-kind evenings in Florence. We are definitely coming back soon.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible reservation system
Terrible reservation system, I attempted to book reservations online and in their system failed. I never received the confirmation so I moved onto a different restaurant for reservations. When I returned from a trip to Italy I found the charge for $208.44 because I missed the reservation that they never confirmed. I contacted the restaurant and they refused to remove the charges. Terrible customer service.
Be the first to ReplyI would have offered 0 stars ...
Unfortunately there is no possibility to give 0 stars. We tried to have a Michelin stared dinner but at the end it was a complete disaster. Except bred and olive oil we could not eat anything. For instance I do not think that a terrible smell and taste of clor could be part of creative cuisine. I am sure it has more to do with lack of freshness of see food. The services where fine but still they charged us with 2 menus we could not eat. According to our opinion they should not have a Michelin star. It is a pity!
Be the first to ReplyNot the best Michelin restaurant
If you are looking for fine dining with genuinely good food, this is not for you. It seemed that chef was more preoccupied with the presentation of the food then the actual taste for the dishes. Although, even presentation did not always work out. The service was good. But I would not recommended this place. Its overpriced for the quality of the food that restaurant provides.
Be the first to ReplyIt's been awesome!
This restaurant is located into a magic place, on the ancient walls of Florence. We tasted great food in a gentle, soft and cuddling atmosphere.
We met the Chef, charismatic and smiling eyes, who accompanied us through the most perfect dinner. We've experienced a 7 courses dinner from one the 4 tasting menus, and everything was so special.
An explosion of the most exquisite flavours at each bite! Surprised, that's how we felt eating those deliciousness.
The after-dinner was delighted by a nocturne visit lead by the Chef at the secret terrace of Villa Bardini where we saw a breathtaking and stunning view on the most wide and beautiful panorama of Firenze.
Food it's been gorgeous, the guys have been all super gentle and kind, a smooth dance! What an amazing experience we have done!
