La Taqueria San Francisco Reviews from The Last Year

Food was fantastic but you might have to wait in line for a little while to order it. It's worth the wait!
Worst tacos ever.
Very bland, no flavor and huge pieces of meat. On top of that it was very expensive. Cashiers were very rude. Cooks were just staring while I was eating. Please save your money and go some where else.

I came here to get good to go bc I heard their tacos are some of the best. They were good, I had a regular pollo one and it was very messy but good. They had a pretty long line so it took about 15mins to get to order food. After ordering, it took around 10mins to get the food. I'll have to come back and try a super burrito.
La Taqueria has the best tacos I've ever had! I'm glad
La Taqueria has the best tacos I've ever had! I'm glad their business survived the pandemic and continues to flourish. My family and I have been coming here for decades and it never disappoints. Our favorite go-to are the crispy carnitas tacos. They are huge, and two is enough to keep me satisfied throughout the day. The crispy pork pairs well with the huge scoop of guacamole and pico de gallo. If it's your first time here, the carnitas tacos are the way to go. For a whole, they only accepted cash payments, but recently began taking card in the last few years likely due to the pandemic. They also seemed to recently implement the seating rule. You now have to order before you can be seated by the staff. This can lead to long lines if you're trying to go during peak hours. Once you are seated and order, however, the food comes out quickly. We received 20 tacos in less than 20 minutes! Overall, La Taqueria is one of my favorite spots in the city. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a casual, yet delicious, meal.

How have I never been here!! This place is an institution and now I know why. The line will always be long and intimidating but it goes pretty fast. You need to order before finding a seat. They are known for their mission burritos which means no rice in the burrito. Everyone said to order a burrito el dorado style which means they grill the burrito so it's a bit crispy on the outside. I ordered the carne asada which I usually find dry, but not here! The meat was actually very tender. The tortilla was thin and the the burrito was stuffed. The mango Fresca was also delicious and refreshing. Lives up to all the hype!
Food is really good.
We got the super burritos and it's not your average, stuffed with rice, burrito. The meat was well seasoned and well cooked. We also got the chips with salsa and avocado. The pico de gallo was fresh, and they give you a hefty scoop of guac as well. The horchata was the perfect balance of sweet and creamy. Went on a Sunday around 6pm and it was pretty packed. You line up outside to place your order, pay inside, then wait for a seat to be available while waiting for your number to be called. It's a tight space and you pretty much have to share a table with other customers. There's also a separate window to order to-go. Parking is your average SF street parking. At busy times, you might need to drive around to find a spot. Overall, I would come back!
A must visit!!
Wow, what an experience. Recommended to us by a local themselves. Quick service and friendly staff. Large menu to chose from. Incredible burritos, absolutely delicious. Some of the best Mexican we’ve experienced. Highly rate and recommend. A must visit when in San Fran

This place has the best tacos in the city!! Sometimes we come all the way out here from the town and just make a day of it. There's usually a line and space is small, but it's definitely worth it.

As a Bay Area girl born and raised, I've heard mixed things about La Taqueria. Yet, I've always had it in my mind to try. After a day at the beach, my companion suggested we grab lunch at La Taqueria since I'd never been. We came on a Sunday, Cinco de Mayo, at peak lunch hours. To our surprise, there was a short line, and we were able to find a table! Lines and wait times can vary. The restaurant is relatively clean and it's nice there's a handful of tables available. The process as of 2024 is to order outside, pay inside, take it to-go, or find a spot yourself to sit. The workers try their best at efficient turn-around and we got our burritos quickly. So, my mistake was not ordering it Dorado style, which I now want to go back to try! I had a Carnitas Regular Burrito and added Avocado. Honestly, the burrito was underwhelming. The carnitas was juicier but the fact there was no rice in the burrito made me feel like they could've packed it more with ingredients. The avocado was fresh and creamy but again, I felt like it was skimped. The salsa provided was spicy and paired well. My companion had a Lengua Super Burrito. We both were satisfied but thought the flavors were lacking and preferred other spots. Many come to the Mission District for Mexican food. La Taqueria is boasted highly of, but in my opinion it was quite average. You can find them off Mission Street with limited parking and a line out the door. If I do come back it'll be to try their burrito dorado style!
Iconic burrito in a timeless part of the Mission.
Prices are slightly elevated and optionality is a little weak. Ordering process is pretty streamlined which I can appreciate for a place like this. I recommend the super burrito, but they do put a lot of sour cream so be warned. I wish they had different types of salsa, like most taquerias and escabeches would be even better. Highly recommended for those visiting from out of town who want to experience an uncontroversially good burrito; everything is made to order so it's guaranteed to be fresh. But if you ask me, is this the best burrito in SF? Id say probably not. Why not? The burrito lacks rice which is a plus for many but it also lacks a unique flavor profile. The spice, charring of the meat and overall wow factor is limited. That being said this place won a James beard award sometime ago and the atmosphere gives me cool 80s/90s vibes. But hey where are the free chips? The overall experience feels a little value engineered.
Did take out and got the carne asada super burrito.
One of the best I've had! Flavorful, real grilled chunks of steak, juices from the streak leaked out of the burrito and it was a beautiful mess. Plenty of pico, sour cream (the real kind that actually tastes sour) and authentic thick and delicious guacamole. Minor complaints was that I saw there was a grilled tortilla on Yelp but my burrito wasn't grilled and it was regular burrito size not super sized. But that's okay this place is my favorite Mexican now!
Ok
Having got back from Mexico City a month ago, the reviews for here sounded like something that could live up to what I had experienced. The quesadilla was ok but the tacos were bland and cold which was a disappointment.
La Taqueria still going strong.
Historically the most well known Burrito home in the city and Mission District. Everything is run like a clock. The fillings are just spiced and prepared just right. Carnitas, chicken, asada, etc have true home made flavors. The Tortillas both are super good and hold the fillings quite well. Though busy - it is a welcoming environment .
To try
Typical Californian restaurant. Quick despite the queue outside. Cleanliness is not its strong point, as it is not everywhere in America but it is worth trying anyway. The food is good and offers a wide variety of local specialities.
Delicious tacos
Great place to get delicious tacos - probably the best in the city if your taste buds agree with the line and full tables indoors (which they should)
Exceptional
Exceptional Mexican cuisine: excellent tacos, burritos and quesadillas at very reasonable prices. Assembly line style open kitchen; perfect organization: despite the many customers we didn't wait more than 10 minutes to sit down and eat. In short, although not central but in the Latin American neighborhood of Mission, it is certainly worth a stop!
Best SF Tacos EVER!
First time in a few years that I have been back to this place. A little pricey (for a taco) but worth every penny! 1 taco is extremely filling (and I LOVE to eat)! I order the crunchy taco with everything made with carne asada. Don’t forget to add some green salsa for those that want it a little hotter. Powerful flavors, generous portions. This place is a MUST when visiting SF. The one con is standing in line. Best recommendation is to call and order ahead - take your food to go and eat somewhere else. Truly never a disappointment!

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
