Magnificent!
A wonderful meal. On arrival our coats were taken from us and our table adjusted to cater for the fact that one of our group was unable to attend at the last minute. We were shown to the table and we did take a long time making our choices of food and wine; at no point did we feel rushed. The service throughout the meal was excellent, with staff giving opinions on the dishes when asked. The food itself was unbeatable and couldn't be faulted in any way. As for the apricot souffle, this was definitely the best soufflé I have ever eaten. It was as light as a feather and tasted marvellous.
Be the first to ReplyMemorable evening, La Trompette is recommended!
Took my daughter on a trip to London, and chose La Trompette on recommendation. We were received very well. Delicate interior and an appropriately rich menu and wine list as well as pleasant assistance from competent waiters who guided us through each of our three courses gave us a memorable evening. My daughter chose vegetarian throughout, while I went for a lovely tartar and "Suffolk pork presa" with a particularly tasty sauce/sjy. Unforgettable! Highly recommended when visiting London!
Be the first to ReplyFabulous, yet again...
Another visit to La Trompette and another near faultless dinner. Things that I really liked: - I had three courses and felt it was just the right amount of food - My starter (salmon) was truly amazing; my main course (pork) was extremely tasty - My pudding (the chocolate delice) was very nice, just not quite as good as the other two courses - There were lots of things I could have had from the menu - I needed to ask what certain things are (for example, the particular cut of pork that they used), which shows that the menu is not the same samey Modern British cooking that you get at lots of restaurants - I did not wake up this morning with that dry mouth feeling that shows the chef has used too much salt (a real bonus) - The wine list is very eclectic (there are wines from pretty much everywhere, including Canada - who knew?) Things that I didn't like: [ ] (That about sums it up.)

We have been going to la Trompette for more than 15 years and it has never failed to please. Yesterday we had an outstanding meal. The service, as always, was welcoming and attentive but not over the top. The timing was just right - no overlong pauses, but a leisurely pace. Starters - a delicious tuna carpaccio, a melt in the mouth foie gras and chicken liver parfait with feather light brioche. Followed by succulent, tender venison accompanied by perfectly cooked vegetables for me and a wonderful daube of beef for my husband. I’m not usually a fan of desserts, but the banana soufflé paired with the strongly flavoured passion fruit ice cream was perfection as was my husband’s Christmas pudding with cinnamon ripple ice cream. A fantastic meal.
Be the first to ReplyAwful, discriminatory
This was a really bad experience I am local to the area and have been before, I booked ahead for lunch with a friend We are both elderly women She was unfortunately late but after she arrived we were virtually ignored People who came in later on the off chance were seated and served first When I questioned this the manager arrived at our table and was demeaning and ageist We left after this as he had made me feel discriminated against as a single older woman This is sad as I will never use this restaurant again and have used it many times inthe past

Sunday lunch 25 September. Absolutely fabulous in every way. All dishes amazing along with the service and atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyA lovely lunch, with great service
Visited La Trompette as part of a no-corkage BYO wine deal from my wine merchant. Took the allowed bottle each - one champagne and one red Bordeaux - and settled in for lunch. We started with a Bloody Mary and a couple of oysters; Dorset rock oysters with tamarillo hot sauce, celery and lime, which were absolutely delicious. We both opted for the starter of Foie gras and chicken liver parfait, Muscat jelly, toasted pistachios and brioche, which was light and creamy, with a generous slice of brioche. The pistachios added texture and the muscat jelly a decadent sweetness. The champagne was an excellent accompaniment. For mains, my wife had Suffolk pork rib eye with pumpkin puree, fondant potato, trompettes, capers, sage and crackling, and I had the Veal rump and glazed cheek with creamed polenta, roasted tomato and gremolata. Two clean plates were delivered back to the kitchen! A lovely combination of flavours and textures. We then opted to share a cheese plate to accompany the last of the red wine, and the cheese choices were excellent. My dessert was malt custard with toasted almond ice cream and cocoa nib bricelet, and it was sublime - a glass of Sauternes was it's natural bedfellow! I greatly enjoyed chatting to Donald, the very engaging and knowledgeable sommelier, and all the waiting staff were efficient, and very pleasant. All in all, a very satisfying and delicious lunch, and a great find. We will certainly return!

A team of true professionals! We enjoyed the food and the selection of wines proposed by the talented and very well prepared sommelier!
Be the first to ReplyShould be on everyone’s wish list
Fantastic evening - friendly staff and great choice on the three course menu; I chose the Pork Chop which was great. The cured Seabass was fresh and the goosebury soufflé was the best we have tasted. Should be on everyone’s to do list.

We simply cannot fault the whole dining experience. We were here for our anniversary meal and from the moment we walked through the door to when we left the entire experience was perfect. The meal was delicious, the wines lovely and the service impeccable. I love my cheese too and they have a cheese trolley ! So rarely see that anymore... Couldn't recommend enough
Be the first to ReplyGreat couples birthday dinner
Was first Michelin star experience and was not disappointed. Staff were very professional and friendly and the menu was very intriguing and exciting. For starters I had the English asparagus which was very rich and creamy, though quite difficult to eat with a knife and fork! For mains I had the lamb which was a rarity for me but it was well made and presented with a good amount of fat on the lamb. For desserts I had the mille feuille which tasted delicious and was something I had not tried before. We were pleasantly pleased to also receive a Happy Birthday small edible dish that we could share, and also were excited by the English red wine featured on the list which was quite good. All in all was a very memorable and lovely experience.
Be the first to ReplyReally disappointing - such poor staff - are customers an inconvenience in La Trompette?
Poor, poor, poor. Made to sit outside in the cold as they were "not ready'. No offer of water, coffee, drink whilst we waited for La Trompette to deign to take our money for a birthday lunch - gone downhill, used to excel at customer service - now it appears customers are an inconvenience - went to another Chiswick restaurant which could teach this establishment a thing or two.
Be the first to ReplyDon't bother. La Trompette has lost its way
Awful customer service. Arrived early for lunch and just told "we're not open". No - can we pop you in corner whilst we get ready.
Be the first to ReplyModerately priced, good quality food
Generally, a nice restaurant. The food was good and it was modestly priced. The salmon sashimi starter was light and had a nice, delicate flavour. The salmon itself was very fresh. However, it wasn't always easy to appreciate the delicate fish flavour; I felt the dressing was slightly too overpowering. Nevertheless, I think it was a fairly good dish! My main course of pork cheek with polenta was hearty and rich, though I would have preferred pomme puree or roasted potatoes instead of the polenta as it was rather bland and became slightly boring after a while. There was a slightly bitter taste I got from the dish that I didn't massively like. The pork itself was very tender, tasty and well-cooked. The pork crisps on top added a good amount of flavour and added some texture to the dish. It would have been better if I could have tasted the green mango and chilli that were advertised in the dish. The dessert was what really stood out. The waitress recommended the banana soufflé and passion fruit ice cream to me so I accepted the recommendation - a very wise and very good decision. The soufflé itself tasted sublime; the hearty, rich flavour of the banana along with its distinctive sweetness combined with the tangy flavour and acidity of the passion fruit ice cream - a perfectly balanced, delightful dessert is made! The chocolate truffles at the end were very nice and indulgent, bringing a good end to the meal.
Be the first to ReplySomewhat Bland. Major rethink required for the Menu,
We have been regulars since Trompette opened and have travelled throughout Europe visiting Michelin 3, 2 and 1 starred restaurants over thrity year. This was our third visit this year. In August 2022 we had possibly the best meal we have ever had at Trompette, so we eagerly anticipated our late December visit. This was possibly our least favourite experience. All three of us found that we had difficulty selecting courses as none of the choices offered appealed- the word settle for a dish is an odd one to use in a Michelin restaurant. Small portion sizes are a frequent complaint in such establishments but not last night. In fact the opposite was the case for the Foie Gras starter was too large and bland. The Pork Chop had at least 5/6 generous slices but was somewhat chewy and when you consider each slice was 5/6 mouthfuls you had a real trek ahead to chew your way through 25 to 36 mouthfulls of chewy meat. This dish was unbalenced and could have benefitted from a bit less pork and more vegetables to put it simply. Desserts were dissappointing and the Malt Ice Cream although good in itself was presented sitting on a cloyingly sweet caramelesque base. £260 for 3 was not unreasonable price wise as this included a fine bottle of Pinot Noir. Normally this would have been a fair price for a 1 Star establishment but not last night. Service as always was impeccable. We know there has ben a change in chefs between our previous visit in August this year and last night on the 30th of December, but the quality of the food and the selection offered is of real concern. Bland and unbalenced is not how you retain a Michelin star.
Be the first to ReplyMidweek lunch treat
A cold December afternoon - post Christmas and pre New Year. We were drawn there for the Daube. We were a little disappointed with the starters - the veloute was a tad bland and the cauliflower was a tad ordinary. The daube was lovely - extremely tender and tasty - beef had been well hung - almost tasted like venison. The prune dessert was very good. Unfortunately, the room was air conditioned and rather cool. I'd suggest wearing a vest and/or warm cardigan.. It dampened my enjoyment. Apparently, the room heats up when there are more people. And it did get a bit warmer, but not much. The price was £57.50 for three courses. There is the usual mark up for drinks and service, so our bill for two came to £180.00 The English breakfast tea costs £5.50 per person - I could not really say what it was, so that felt poor value. I would go again, but in a warmer time of year. I wish them well.

Cheese board, main, starter you name it excellent food and service! Been many times, love this place. Fine dining.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food but maybe not as good as some other 1 star places
Good points - It is really nice - the food is delicious and well portioned. We had the cauliflower and veal to start (both fantastic.) Followed by the sea bream (well cooked, however the overall flavour was good but not amazing) and the pork (very nice snd the black pudding tart was the only thing that really made me go "wow".) For dessert, we had the chocolate croustade and the Christmas pudding, which were both very nice but expected for a Michelin star restaurant -The service is great and friendly Less good points -We were there in December and it was a tiny bit cold at the window -It's a Michelin star restaurant and you pay Michelin star prices for food that some other places can do comparably for a bit less. We paid £200 total for 3 courses for 2 people, with only one cocktail and water. Don't get me wrong, the food is delicious but it's not Pollen Street Social and that ilk level were you are consistently amazed at what they're doing with the food -I had a mince pie martini and it was not great - the only truly bad point of the meal. It did taste like a mince pie but was too strong and not that drinkable Overall, it's really delicious food that's probably a bit overpriced - worth it to go once but I probably won't be back, choosing to instead try other places.

My husband and I have been coming to La Trompette for about 6 years now and we have never been disappointed in any way. The food is excellent and so is the service. The decor is an elegant and interesting contemporary style . Staying there is a pleasure since the moment you enter. I highly recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyIt's Still Great
I've been a regular at La Trompette for many years. Went yesterday aware it's a new chef, Greg. Rest assured because it was one of my best visits here. The crab and scallop tortellino was absolutely delicious. Mains of daube of beef and venison likewise. I've not had venison better than this. Excellent desserts, good service, fabulous menu, and all round great cooking, this restaurant continues to be a gem.
Be the first to ReplyGreat value Michelin lunch
Visited for the lunch menu. Lovely dining room with outdoor sitting option if you prefer, located on a nice little off street from the main road. All staff very friendly and attentive, food is fantastic, really high quality. Muntjac dish was outstanding. Great value for lunch.
Be the first to ReplyArrogant and offhand staff spoil what is otherwise good food in an okay setting.
This has been sliding steady downhill for some years now. The food remains good and of a high standard but the staff, most especially the wine waiters are appallingly condescending. I have friends who complained to me about their treatment and I have experienced it first hand on my last visit. The wine sommelier and his assistant are pompous and condescending. They try to up sell and seem to think their primary function is to show off how much more they know about wine than you do. At over £200 per head this is now over priced and over rated. Avoid unless you like being spoken to like a small child.

This was our second visit to La Trompette, the first since covid. We were delighted to find it as excellent as before. The restaurant was full and there was a good feel about the place, made all the better by the absence of music. Service was spot on, with someone always available when needed, but not overbearing. The food was perfect - imaginative, top quality ingredients, and expertly prepared. The wines, from the bottom end of the range, were not cheap, but they both had character.

Outstanding dinner. Faultless from the bread to the post-dessert truffles, but the Herdwick lamb will be remembered to our graves. Excellent, personable service.

Always exceeds exceptions. Incredibly enthusiastic and knowledgeable sommelier with wine priced to a reasonable multiple. Food is always exceptional and service unpretentious and attentive. Prices feel aligned to quality.
