PARFAIT.
Once we had found it, Sat nav took us past it 5 times! We were delighted by everything about this hotel and restaurant. Staff were charming. Our room was huge. Did my 10,000 steps getting dressed in the morning! We had the ‘surprise’ tasting menu, with the champagne pairing, which was exquisite. Excellent ingredients cooked to reveal their true taste. Obviously, expensive but worth every penny! Booking essential as they close during the week during the winter, not sure about the rest of the year. Can’t wait to return there next year on our annual trip through France.
Be the first to ReplyGreat experience and best restaurant!!
It’s not the first time I enjoy the experience at l’assiette champenoise, In fact I wanted to share why I really like this restaurant. what is so great and making the experience so enjoyable is from the start when we arrived, the valet parking taking the car, then entering the hotel where you see smiling face welcoming you at reception, and then chef Arnaud welcoming as well the guests, make it so personal, I felt really well taken care of and welcomed to enjoy a great experience. Of course the menu is top notch and every dish had an exceptional taste. The pre-dessert and dessert are out of this world! this is my favorite among all the restaurants I’ve been to. The courtesy and welcoming professional staff along with a great cuisine makes this restaurant one of the best if not the best restaurant !! Will definitely keep on coming to enjoy the great experience!!

This was our second visit in three years. Following an enjoyable visit and memorable meal previously, we had looked forward to this visit at the end of three weeks travelling through France, staying and eating at many wonderful establishments where the welcome had been invariably warm. To start with, Reception staff were pleasant but the valet/porter took exception to my husband wishing to park our own car in the carpark, mere steps away from Reception, and made his feelings very obvious. Our suite, as before, was comfortable and decorated with a certain flair, though very large for a one-night stay. The building contains several cosy, comfortable sitting-rooms and I asked at the bar for a cup of tea to be served in the sitting-room. Clearly this was not the staff’s preferred option, though the barman reluctantly agreed to my request. Pre-dinner drinks were taken on the informal but stylish terrace and the chef/proprietor and his wife both did the rounds greeting and chatting with guests. However, the staff, all male, maintained a distinctly cool manner. In the lovely, elegant dining -room, where we ate some superb dishes, fully deserving of the restaurant’s reputation and rating, the mainly male staff continued with their impeccable but cool, unsmiling service. Their cold manner truly marred an excellent meal. All except one waiter appeared thoroughly unhappy to be there. Friends who had visited the restaurant a month before reported the same. Through our holiday we discovered that many French hospitality establishments are facing great challenges but staff all worked hard to give their guests the warmest welcome and the best experience possible. It was hugely ironic that, on our final evening, at an establishment where food and accommodation remain impeccable, the male employees offered us a far from satisfactory experience.

This was our 4th stay at assiette champenoise, near Reims, and we will be back. The hotel bit is very nice with ultra comfortable bed and lots of pillows, and do not miss the swimming pool. The food is spectacular. We had smoked haddock and Brittany lobster, veal sweetbread and squab. The wine recommendation was less than perfect but we had a wonderful meal. M Lallemand never fails to go round the tables but unlike some of his peers it feel very genuine.

Words escape me. How does one pit pen to paper to describe excellence? The chef is a marvel! I have eaten in many a starred adorned restaurant and hands down this one is at the top! The decor is to die for. The personnel is of military precision and move around in the background with grace and discretion. The whole meal was seamless. And don’t get me started on the drinks side. From the Krug to the “mystery black glass wine) 🤫 and finishing off with the grand cru latte macchiato. It was indeed a pleasurable experience.
