This place has very rude valet parking guys.
I pulled into the empty lot in the late afternoon, told the guy I was picking up a to go order and asked to briefly park in the lot. They refused and told me to park on the street at the white curb. Having received a parking ticket before in a white zone I told the guy I don't want to get a ticket, and asked again to park in the lot. He kept refusing. I had to pull out, and found a spot six blocks away. I'm never picking up food there again.

..we are HUGE FANS of the Tam O Shanter which is part of the Lawry's family. The Tam NEVER disappoints!! Also, my Irish Grandma used to take my brother and I here in an attempt to instill some "culture" in us and our heathen ways....lol...That's why this review is so hard to write...our experience wasn't great, actually both of their attempts at my dinner SUCKED. The seafood tower was good, expensive but good and not entirely "fresh". The bread is great and my Bloody Mary was good. The other appetizers were uneventful, so much so, I can't even remember what we had...and I'm not going to even bother asking my wife...lol. Food; my wife, youngest son and myself each had the "smoked" prime rib special and our oldest son had the salmon. Salmon was good, but the smoked prime rib was not. Again, full disclosure, my wife and I both cook, including grilling and smoking meats. We know how and what smoked prime rib is supposed to taste like and this wasn't it. The "liquid smoke" flavor was so strong on mine that I couldn't stand it and sent it back. We never send food back because it's not a smart thing to do especially these days. But for these prices and what I was hoping would be an exception to the rule...I sent it back and was served a new "non-smoked" version. Well, I won't do that again...the new version was so full of connective tissue and sinew I sent it back as well. My wife and son picked at theirs but were not impressed. I was really bummed that this meal went wrong because I have such good memories of Lawry's with my Grandma. This was one of the most expensive meals we've had lately and it just didn't work out the way we had hoped. Service was excellent and I believe will always continue to be. The entire staff was great!! Our waitress was nice and polite but we never really had a chance to engage in much of a conversation...Manager was great and happy to remove my meal from our check. The host was hilarious... Ambiance was nice, good old Lawry's for sure....restrooms were super clean and the waiting area was comfortable. Side note, the valets leave much to be desired...where does the attitude come from?, seriously.... Two stars are for Lawry's history and the good folks who work there..not much else.

Filet Mignon 4/5 Smoked Prime Rib 4/5 Everything was good, but not sure it was worth the $$$$. But.. you are in Beverly Hills. Made same day reservations for a birthday din din. Some people were dressed super fancy and some people were pretty casual.

I never heard from anyone so the message from Rachel was obviously just for show. What a sad experience from a once great restaurant and staff.
Be the first to ReplyCalled yesterday 2 times no one got to the phone.
I left a voicemail. I call today to try and make a reservation again on hold for a lifetime. It's a birthday and for a party of 11. Only available reservations at 9pm. It's a shame they don't have a good protocol for reservations/ returning the voicemail machine. We have to reschedule a whole dinner party.

Be the first to ReplyFancy experience was nice.
Valet service available so no trouble with parking. Ambience was good too and nice for a date but when it comes to the taste, I expected more. Sides were good, Crab cake was , fries were too cute and yummy too!
Be the first to ReplyNever had a bad meal here.
Did not know I liked prime rib until I came here. Not sure I like that addition of other type of meat, but people seemed to like it.

Loved the spinning bowl salad (Caesar salad)! The prime rib was good, however, the side of spinach was a bit mushy for our liking. The lobster was also good. The desserts were good too. I liked the creme brulee and my daughter liked the english trifle. The customer service was great. Mark (Harris) was courteous and friendly plus Ulises ( he even offered to take a pic of our fam). All in all, a pleasant dining experience!

Be the first to ReplyI took my mom to Lawry's Beverly Hills for her 94th
I took my mom to Lawry's Beverly Hills for her 94th birthday dinner last Sunday. I had made a reservation in advance, noting that it was for a birthday. They opened at 3:30 and we had a 4pm reservation. We arrived early and the restaurant was not busy, as they had just opened. Upon checking in, I requested a corner banquette, as we've done for decades. After about 10 minutes, we were led to a corner banquette. It was in the far right corner of the room. We didn't pay much attention until after we ordered our drinks. We started to notice the wait staff was lingering in our corner, waiting around for it to get busy. The carver was right next to us and the cart for clearing dishes was across from us. I finally saw the host who sat us and asked why were seated there, when there were no other customers and we were facing staff and a wall. He just listened to me and didn't respond. We had our prime rib dinners. After which, the same host brought us our check and a piece of trifle with a candle on it, proving they knew it was a birthday celebration all along. We were so sad and depressed when we left. Almost in tears, as my mother has inoperable breast cancer and this could have very well been her last birthday. That's beside the point, but important to us. I wrote to the company that night, on their website describing our experience. That was March 17. No one ever responded. We've been patrons of Lawry's Beverly Hills for several decades and customer service was always paramount. No longer the case. Although the prices are higher than ever, the service and the quality of the food obviously no longer matter. Sad.
Be the first to ReplyThis is one of the fancier restaurants I've dined at.
I snagged a table in the bar area with a friend on a busy night and shared a few starters. Nice ambience and beautiful interior to enjoy some of the best shrimp cocktail in the area. I ordered the ribeye steak for my main and it was absolutely delicious. We got lucky with one of the friendlier servers, he was helpful and accommodating. Bar service experience was terrible, I was completely ignored by the bar tender after ordering an espresso martini while waiting for table service, and he literally walked away after I asked for a drink, so I returned to my table and told our server. Our server ended up getting the drink for me. It's sad to see unhappy employees at such an upscale restaurant but I didn't let such an insignificant incident ruin the rest of my night. Valet parking is available.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and service and atmosphere.
It's a classic place to dine. We have been going to Lawry's for over 15 years, we've never been disappointed.

We were taken here as a thank you for helping out an older piano tuner who could not handle a square grand piano (beastly difficult pianos to tune!). The food was fantastic, reminiscent of a restaurant called The Velvet Turtle, where we dined every Anniversary. We loved it and the food was fantastic. Alas, they went out of business in 1995. We were so happy with the meals, the Prime Rib that is their specialty, and we were not disappointed. Tender, juicy prime rib, mashed potatoes that were creamy and incredible, choice of vegetable (I had creamed spinach), a salad and YORKSHIRE PUDDING! We were so happy! I don't know anywhere else in the area that serves Yorkshire. All and all a wonderful dinner, and a great place to celebrate an Anniversary. The only thing they didn't have was The velvet Turtles' Green Goddess dressing. We'll forgive them for that!

The food is still the best! Prime rib had great flavor and very tender! The service was not so great. Spent a lot of time waiting. Saw a couple other tables cycle twice to our once. I wanted another drink, I just went to the bar.
Be the first to ReplyUnquestionably, the best prime rib in town bar none.
The signature Lawry's cut meal served with the famous spinning bowl salad, mashed potatoes, gravy, au jus, whipped cream or straight horseradish, and yorkshire pudding is simply perfect. As always, the service here is impeccable. The decor here is classically elegeant and the ambience "smart casual" yet cozy and comfortable. I have never been disappointed in my almost 20 years of coming here.

Finally made a reservation 2 Fridays ago and made our way to Beverly Hills. Our reservation was for 7:30 and we used the valet service. We came in and I loved the opulence of the space, high ceilings, spacious dining area. Once checked in we probably waited for about 2-3 mins to be seated. We were herded to the right side of the restaurant that was separate from the main dining hall. It seems like this area can probably be reserved for private parties or events. We seated on a booth for 2. Our server was really nice and gave a good recommendation on the Pinot Noir. We got a bottle of Meiomi - pretty balanced just the right sweetness. We ordered from the Lawry's Classic Prime Rib dinner - I had the Lawry's cut and hubs had the Diamond cut and he ordered additional Creamed Spinach. Prime Rib for us was cooked perfect medium rare and for me the Lawry cut was just right - we didn't get any apps just the salad. I loved the whole experience - everything tasted well I didn't have to add any salt or seasoning. Only thing I can say is that I couldn't care much for the Yorkshire pudding. Will probably order ala carte next time and choose some other apps or starter. Highly recommended if you love prime rib. Note valet service is a flat fee - forgot the amount - I think it's $10++
Be the first to ReplyOn Saturday night, we decided to dine at Lawry's Prime Rib.
Upon our arrival, we checked in at the hostess stand and waited about 10 minutes before being seated. Our server, Tatiana, promptly greeted us. I brought a bottle of wine, and she offered to open it, but we opted to start with cocktails instead. We ordered two Martinis, a Margarita, and an Old Fashioned. Before my guest could take a sip of her Martini, she noticed a chip on the rim of her glass. I notified our server, and she promptly apologized and replaced the glass. For our main course, we all ordered Prime Rib, which comes with mashed potatoes and a choice of creamed corn or creamed spinach. We requested a side of each for the table. Additionally, my son ordered Chicken Fingers and fries. The food was good, and the service was very attentive. However, it would have been nice if a manager had stopped by our table to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Additionally, upon receiving the check, I noticed they charged $9.00 for the fries, and also for the Creamed Spinach, which was unexpected. While we enjoyed our experience overall, these minor issues may make us wait a while before considering another visit.

A fantastic place to get prime rib in So Cal if you're missing House of Prime Rib in the Bay Area. The pricing is very similar and the quality of the prime rib is very close, I don't think I could tell which is better, both are excellent. Only difference is you don't get a second slice, there is only one side which is mashed potatoes, and the Yorkshire pudding portion is 1/4 the size you get at HOPR. So don't expect to be as full as you would be at the other spot. I recommend the California slice unless you want leftovers, because I can't imagine many can finish the Lawry's Cut in one sitting. However, unlike in the Bay, the vibes here are much more "Beverly Hills" and less warm and friendly, and the place felt more like we were being herded like cattle to our tables with the crowded lobby with limited seating, so don't come too early for your reservation as there's not much space to wait comfortably (though there is a bar if you want a drink). Still, the trouble was worth it for a delicious meal.

Nope. Brought my husband here for his birthday dinner. The food was very mediocre, service was horrible (waitress came to do the "spinning salad" but forgot to get the utensils to toss the salad and took 15 minutes to find, and come back to "spin the salad" . We watched multiple tables get a little complimentary birthday slice of cake...,.our waitress came to us with the bill (no little complimentary cake), but the bill came with a line item called "happy birthday ", luckily they charged us $0.00 for that line item. Awkward! Nope, we will not return! Bummer, this used to be one of my favorite L.A. restaurants, but for $300 for 2 people, there are lots of restaurants I would rather go to!

Prime rib cooked to perfection. Love the cream corn and spinach. Of course the mini show of salad tossing. One thing they got rid of is the meatball and chips which was a long time tradition of Lawrys. As we wait for the table and our guests arrive we go to the little snack bar grab someMeatballs and potato chips. Hope they bring it back soon.
Be the first to ReplyWe came here to celebrate a family birthday.
And Lawry's delivered in being super attentive and in serving a nice seafood tower platter appetizer, an outstanding signature spinning bowl salad, and classic prime rib dinner with sides of mashed potatoes, creamed corn, and Yorkshire pudding. Added to that they served a very tasty, complimentary trifle dessert. It's nice that they offer five different cuts of prime rib in their classic prime rib dinner to accommodate appetites of all sizes. At the top of my list, the service, salad, prime rib,* creamed corn, and trifle dessert were outstanding. *I don't eat red meat, but highlight it as a positive because others in our party really enjoyed it.Where things could have been better...- The menu described what is included in the seafood tower, but what we received was missing lobster and clams. They tried to make up for that in serving more mussels. It would have been nice if they disclosed this instead of assuming that it would be ok.- The Yorkshire pudding was good, but not as good was what we've had elsewhere and bake at home. Their version was not at all soft and chewy and airy inside.- The salmon Rockefeller was delicious, but skimpy. This has been my experience at other steakhouses... and I would discourage people from ordering anything other than steak... unless, like me, you don't eat red meat. They offer valet parking, but if you come early for dinner, there is plenty of street parking in front.
Be the first to ReplyMan, what happened to Laury's.
?We had terrible service. The steaks were not very good tonight. They tasted very chalkie and Sandy seems like the service overall has really slipped. The hostess was pushy and rude, and the waiter never came back to the table and when he did, we couldn't even understand what he was saying he spoke so fast. Too bad .At least I have good memories from days gone by. I
