This is an amazingly creative restaurant that is one of my favorites. Over many years, I’ve had the fortune of enjoying the French Laundry, Per Se, Daniel, Eleven Madison Park,
l'atelier de joël robuchon, Guy Savoy, etc. I liked this one the most, along with Alinea. That’s because both Lazy Bear and Alinea deviate from the standard formula of those listed above. They are more theatrical and social. Lazy Bear was particularly interesting because everyone starts off in an upstairs space, where you are free to socialize with other patrons. After having a few courses in a cocktail party setting, you go downstairs and dine at one of two large communal tables. Each chef in the kitchen comes out and introduces a dish that all guests are served at approximately the same time. It really is a creative, social, amazing experience. It’s a great place to celebrate. I celebrated my birthday there and had a blast. Definitely do the wine pairings if you like wine! They had generous and creative pours.
