Be the first to ReplyThe restaurant is decorated with incredible detail.
The service is very attentive. We had Walter that knew the entire menu and he made great recommendations. The food was amazing. But I wish the portions were just a little bit more. Daniel did it again. Congratulations

What a spectacular dining experience- exactly what you'd expect from Daniel Boulud. It's a very expensive meal, three course prix fix. But it's a great special occasion or one time splurge meal. Food was creative and delicious and there are a lot of choices for each course - including multiple vegetarian options which I loved. Service was friendly and impeccable and I have never seen so many staff in a restaurant in my life. Beautiful setting, great service and delicious food. Oh and yummy mocktails too!
Be the first to ReplyAbsolute top of the line dining experience.
My wife and I have been to numerous Michelin starred restaurants and after a while you feel like you're just eating the same 17 course tasting menu over and over again. Luckily, Le Pavillon allows you to order proper portions and have a real meal and the overall experience was way more impressive than the already high expectations we had. I started with a take on chicken soup which was impressive and delicious, my main was a beef duo with incredible vegetables and sauces, and I finished with the best banana pudding I've ever had. My wife had an onion tart that was a play on French onion soup, incredible duck, and then a play on an ice cream cake. The service was impeccable and friendly without being snobby at all and the decor was beautiful, with an entire indoor garden in a high rise with tons of storefront glass. Look one way and there was nature - look the other and it's the city. Everything was impressive and wonderful and we've already talked about returning.

We enjoyed everything but nothing blew us away like it would at Daniel. Beatiful space and we'll certainly consider returning when in the are.
Be the first to ReplyLet me preface this by saying I really hate super high-end
Let me preface this by saying I really hate super high-end restaurants like this. Not just La Pavilion, but all super high-end restaurants like this. There were five of us and the bill was over $1000 and we 3 of us had the pre fix. a drink maybe two apiece and a bottle of their least expensive, as in under $100, Wine. The Issue for me is, while the food was very good. There's just nothing that justifies that kind of price. I understand they have overhead the spaces incredible really three or four story high ceilings. They must pay around 100,000 or more month. The service was great a bit heavy on the upsell, but very good. The atmosphere was quiet and nice, and the food was good I left satiated, but there's just nothing that justifies that tab.
Be the first to ReplyI have absolutely nothing bad to say about this restaurant.
Food was amazing and we did the wine pairing and loved each wine the sommelier had picked out for each dish. We ordered so much food that there was no longer any room left for my purse and my waitress went to retrieve a purse hook for the table which I thought was very thoughtful. The ambiance was sexy and perfect for a Valentine's Day date night.
Be the first to ReplyDined here for the third time last night.
The service was absolutely impeccable! The room is gorgeous! The menu, which changes regularly, had so much potential but just didn't hit the mark this time. The new dishes are reaching too far and feel over composed. The octopus bouillabaisse was delicious but my partner's spaghetti appetizer just had too many things going on which refused to let any ingredient really shine. I chose the hen for my main, but it was so salty I really couldn't eat it. I took it home not to waste it and will add it to a new dish to make it work. My partner's beef was tasty but cooked under the temperature he requested. Dessert was ok. The citron was bright and tasty but over garnished with too much candied citrus zest/peels. The coffee dessert was delicious. The staff continued to check on us and ask if there was anything else they could get us to replace things not up to standard, but we just didn't want to be wasteful and it was late. I really do love this restaurant, but last night did not meet expectations, especially for the price point.
Be the first to ReplyAnother hit from Daniel bolud.
Service is fantastic and food is amazing. Definitely worth the visit.
Be the first to ReplyI was excited to try a Boulud restaurant.
I hadn't been to one in years. The service was quite good. The place is beautiful and elegant with very high ceilings. The food was generally good but nothing was mind blowing. The most underwhelming ones were the desserts. Food: Amuse - was ok Hiramasa - ok Spaghetti with langoustine - very good; loved the Al dente pasta Foie gras and pineapple - I love foie gras so it was delicious for me Scallops - good Lobster - very well cooked; not too chewy Beef - a little over cooked as we asked for the medium rare and it was more on the medium well side Cassis - was not great; not very flavorful Guava sorbet - ok; not very flavorful Chocolate mousse - beautiful but taste was just ok Choux - very good

If you're looking for an exceptional dining experience, Le Pavillon is a must-visit restaurant. Chef Daniel's culinary expertise shines through in every dish, and the attention to detail in the presentation is truly impressive. From the moment you step into the restaurant, you are greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The elegant decor sets the stage for an unforgettable evening, and the knowledgeable staff are always on hand to guide you through the menu and wine list. But it's the food that steals the show at Le Pavillon. Each dish is a work of art, with flavors that are both complex and perfectly balanced.Overall, Le Pavillon is a true gem in the world of fine dining. Chef Daniel and his team have truly created an outstanding experience, and I can't wait to come back and try more of their exquisite dishes. Highly recommended!
Be the first to ReplyDaniel Boulud's midtown east seafood forward restaurant
Daniel Boulud's midtown east seafood forward restaurant does not disappoint. Five stars all around for wonderful food, friendly attentive service and a serene contemporary interior. This place has been on my go to list for several months. We snagged a 7pm resy on a Saturday night to celebrate my bestie's bday. The cocktails are expertly crafted and the wine list curated with the care and selection you would expect from a Boulud establishment. I had a gorgeous Chablis by the glass. There are two menu options: a three course prix fixe which is quite well priced for this caliber of food and dining experience as well as a six course tasting. We opted for the 3 course to give us a chance to share and taste more dishes. What was so nice about this menu was the variety of options from land and sea for the two courses as well as the scrumptious selection of sweet endings for dessert. I started with the Asperge Salade, then onto the Black truffle halibut with mushroom consommé. I finished with the Noisette which is basically a Ferrer Rocher on steroids. Others snacked on foie gras with green apple, grilled avocado, and octopus/prawns (Crevete) All were beautifully presented and delicious. The Homard entree was spot on. The surprise of the night was the vegan "cannelloni" dish which was out of this world. The cheese course is nice if you're into savory for dessert. We also shared the Armagnac (a must for dark chocolate lovers) as well as the cerrise which is a chocolate cherry creation. They provide these tiny cream puffs, one with pistachio and the other with caramel, almost like a petit four to finish. Just a fabulous experience overall. It has much less pomp and circumstance than the flagship Daniel (which we love love love). The crowd is smart looking so it is best to dress to expectation. Men do well with a sport coat but it's not necessary. Looking forward to returning. PS. The restaurant is located in the stunning One Vanderbilt (corner of 42nd) second floor. It is a stunning space.

Compared to other restaurants in the Boulud empire, this was disappointing. As expensive as Restaurant Daniel, the service was disorganized (a first course came as they cleared the amuse buche, then 20+minutes between other courses), and the food, although beautifully plated, was not as inspiring as it could have been. My fish dish was warm but I suspect had sat under warming lights for a while. And another person's plate was half cold, half warm.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing service and views of Grand Central, very tall
Amazing service and views of Grand Central, very tall ceilings, even for NY standards, with an artistic chandelier over the main bar. Great cocktails and nice selection of reds and whites. Tasting menu consists of 3 or 6 courses / person. For us, 3 was plenty as we brought home a few containers. Buckwheat mafaldine (ribbon pasta) in lemon sauce and caviar is heaven. Foie gras is wonderful accompanied by cornbread and the best glazed orange date of all time. Roasted dover sole encrusted in wheat flour with moscatel (white, vinegar) sauce delightful and a play on a large fish stick. Veal shank decadent. The dessert options include a Fromage plate, winding down the night with what you would normally have as a starter - it worked. The milk chocolate mousse has a layer of praline crust with hazelnut chocolate sculpted over the mousse. High marks for taste and presentation.Chef Boulud graciously stepped out and said hello capping an unforgettable dining experience.

Been here for lunch but most often am here for drinks at the bar. Service is not super fast but everyone is friendly and courteous. The space is beautiful, with very high ceilings, large window's throughout, and gorgeous furnishings. There usually is bar seating between 4-5pm where you can drop in without a reservation which makes this great for a relaxed drink. There are little bites and specialty cocktails. It is also bright enough and quiet enough to have great conversations.
Be the first to ReplyI wish there were more lunch options at the Michelin
I wish there were more lunch options at the Michelin starred restaurants in nyc. Thankfully Daniel Boulud has offered us this beautiful new spot. Hidden in the new one Vanderbilt building. The location has sweeping and dramatic interiors. The staff is friendly and attentive and the lunch menu is delicious. They offer a three course tasting and a two course option. I went with the two course. Which was more than enough food for lunch. They even started me with a lovely avocado salad on the house. I ordered the sunchoke which was a tasty creamy soup. I also got the poached halibut...which was really a bouillabaisse (I was in a soup mood) the seafood was perfectly cooked and delicious. Great lunch spot for business, romance, or just a bite to eat.

Be the first to Replybefore getting right into this review, i would like to
before getting right into this review, i would like to mention what a wonderful lunch my wife and i had at your lovely restaurant. i also want to specifically commend our server Harold. he was very friendly, attentive, professional and informative throughout our visit there and he did it so effortlessly. i also want to commend Renata our host and of course commend the bus attendants and chefs/cooks/bartender for all their hard work and attention to detail. finally, a big toast to the designer of your restaurant. it looks so warm and welcoming with all the greenery and beautiful tableware, silverware and glassware. and now for our review of our 3-course lunches:first courseSUNCHOKE VELOUTE + FOIE GRAS PARFAITthis dish had a wonderful soft feel to it with a taste and texture of the classic vichysoisse but with a slightly different twist. and the foie gras was magnificent with the prune gelatin texture on top. this combination was perfect and using toasted brioche instead of just bread was even better then i would have thought of myself. [NOTE: for this course my wife ordered a RUM ANANAS cocktail which was so so refreshing and perfectly balanced in sweetness and alcohol strength. kudos to the bartender!]WOOD FIRE OCTOPUSthis dish had a bit more oomph to it with an amazing taste especially of the lentils. my only slight disappointment with this dish was how the octopus was presented pre-sliced. from the images i've seen before, the octopus tentacle is usually presented whole which i was expecting but did not get. but of course it did not take anything away from the taste and texture of the octopus. it tasted very fresh to me. [NOTE: prior to this course i ordered the MEPHISTO CLASSIQUE ABSINTHE VERTE which was also perfectly presented by Harold our server with water poured over a sugar cube to balance out the bitterness of the absinthe. my favorite apertif]second courseWILD MUSHROOM GIRELLA PASTAthis dish definitely put the fungus at the center of the table. the mushroom tastes just exploded in our mouths and the pasta was perfectly cooked for being so wide and presented perfectly to our eyes. and the sauce well... what can you say - divine![NOTE: unfortunately my wife doesn't drink wine so she stuck with her ANANAS drink]POUCHED HALIBUTfor this dish i must say i'm a bit biased because bouillabaisse is one of my favorite classic french dishes so i ordered this with it in mind and it did not disappoint. the dish was also beautifully presented by the server's assistant via a pour-over of the bouillabaisse broth over the seafood on the dish which had just the right balance of fennel and pastis to my palate. i must also note this dish was very filling as Le Pavillon is quite generous with the serving of halibut which my hungry stomach appreciated. [NOTE: i ordered a glass of the Luis Pato 2019 white wine which Harold suggested that went perfectly with this dish - to me at least]third courseMELON VACHERINthis desert was lovely and very light and cool with the merengue at the bottom and not overly sweet which my wife appreciated. CHOCOLATE NOISETTEthis desert was lovely too and very classic noisette tasting to me. i would have preferred a millefeuille for desert but that was not an option for lunch sadly. but kudos to the pastry chef (ogata-san) for some very creative desert selections. finally, would like to point out one wonderful part of our meal that other patrons should be aware of. during the initial bread service of our meal, i noticed that signature triangular butter peak that i have seen in france before. and without mistake, Harold confirmed to my wife and I what we thought, that it was in fact a Bordier butter which is quite rare to find in the US. so i had to break my low carb diet for this moment of rarity and enjoy as much as possible. for this BIG KUDOS to Monsieur Boulud for some major CIA tactics to access this gem of a butter into his restaurant from abroad. team LP, great job and keep up the great work until we meet again! [other reviewers... sorry for the long review]
Be the first to Reply6 course tasting was amazing.
Flavors, plating, all superb. Staff are so friendly and knowledgeable when explaining the plates and they definitely made this birthday girl feel special very attuned to detail which I really appreciated! Beautiful ambiance especially by the bar.

Superb dining experience!Wanted to do something special and try something different for my boyfriend's birthday and boy did Le Pavillon delivery! We went with the pre-fixe menu which was perfect for trying a variety of menu options. For our appetizers, we got the oysters and the black truffle salad. These oysters were unlike any grilled or baked oyster I have every had - simply magnificent! For our entrees, we got the scallops and the duck and ordered a side of truffle mashed potatoes which were all delicious but we both agree that the duck was the best. Lastly we got dessert, I admittedly don't remember what they were but I do know that one was a flourless cake and I believe the other was something with chocolate and hazelnut mousse. While Le Pavillon won't be a regular on our list, we will keep it top of mind for special occasions.
Be the first to ReplyHad reservations for a Friday dinner and felt underdressed.
The website mentioned business casual, which doesn't help because I dressed like I worked from home. I quickly scanned the room to find the one guy dressed more casual than me and made myself feel better. My wife and I had seen on the website that they had a three course and six course menu, and we went in hoping to have the six course. However when we sat down, we were handed the three course menu and weren't offered the option of a six.For the first course I was recommended the huitre (oysters) which were flavorful and decent. Had some minor regret of not getting the octopus. The main course I got the beef steak for two with the yorkshire pudding. Steak was cooked well and not overly fatty. I did find the rest of the stuff on the plate a bit unnecessary and noisy, but I get the effort of mixing up the flavor palate. Dessert was noisette (milk chocolate) which was great. I didn't ask for a glass of milk like a little kid but that would have been great.Bread and butter was great. The rye noix cocktail was peaty and okay. Service was good. The space was cavernous and made me wonder what that place used to be used for.

I love the place and the harmony, the spectacular decoration and the excellent service like all restaurants From Daniel Boulud an incredible human being and and amazing chef

I highly recommend it when you want to eat with good people. Meanwhile, the langustin was really fantastic and the oyster chowder was savory.

My company executives come here often and I can always count on the manager Jon to guarantee a great experience for them. The concept of fine dining has really changed over the years especially in the city so finding a spot so close to our offices that have a very traditional approach is a breath of fresh air for our CEO and clients. I came myself with a coworker this week and we did the 3 course lunch menu. I am vegetarian and when Le Pavillon first opened I didn't see many options for myself but before heading there I checked out the menu again and was pleasantly surprised to find quite a few options I could enjoy.Food: I got the grilled avocado, the wild mushroom girella pasta, the mashed potatoes, and the cafe cocoa sundae. The food was to die for. I was so surprised at how much flavor they could pack into these dishes. Everything from the bread to the dessert was perfection and I could really not be happier. Staff: The staff was top notch. A water glass was never left half full and they were kind and happy to answer any questions. Every staff members knowledge on the menu was extremely impressive. If you can grab a reservation I would. Its definitely a hot spot that's worth checking out!
Be the first to ReplyI actually like this spot more than Daniel, but I may be
I actually like this spot more than Daniel, but I may be biased since I just love seafood. I do think they are maybe still exploring and trying things out, so not everything in their tasting menu felt fully fleshed out and I wish it came together a bit more cohesively, but each of the individual dishes was amazing. The service was impeccable and the decor is beautiful, with the garden and high ceilings in the bar area and a lowered ceiling for the dining area to make the space more intimate. But of course, it was the food that really stood out - other than all the basics like fresh seafood, I loved the balance of all the flavors and each dish had its own unique twist that made it distinct. My favorites were the scallops, sea bass, lobster, and apple dessert. The sauce and bits of hazelnuts that came with the scallop were a perfect pair, and the scallop was seared perfectly. The sea bass had a bit of an Asian twist and was slightly spicy, and I'm not sure what they did to make that crispy skin but it's indescribably amazing. I also love the light cream and broth that the lobster came with. Dessert is always my favorite part of the meal, and I love how French desserts always bring out the flavors without being overly sweet - this apple dessert did not disappoint, with the tuile providing the sweetness and offset by the tartness of the apple.I do think some of the dishes felt a bit random, but I still enjoyed all the food. Also, for the price of $195, I'd say this 6 course tasting menu is probably one of the best you'd find in the city!
