Our brisket and sausage arrived almost cold.
The taste wasn't worth all the review hype in bbq reviews in magazines. Sides were stellar. However , the staff was helpful in making gluten free choices. I'm hoping it was an off day that Saturday morning.

Phil Rosenthal was not kidding! Best burger I've ever had in recent memory. The line was an hour long, and by the time we got to the front they had run out of brisket and beef cheeks. But they were so friendly and kind and the meat was amazing! Please come to SoCal...!!!

Props for creativity it is good but I would rate this not in my top 5 bbq in Texas. On a busy Sunday we missed out on the beef cheeks but did have barbacoa, chopped brisket and homemade sausage. We discussed the wait versus the food and as self described BBQ snobs, were a little disappointed. You can calculate 10 mins wait standing in line in the sun per order. So factor that in. Line moves very slow. The sides were very tasty. Frito pie, cabbage and pork hash were all super, especially the mustard on the cabbage. For us, the brisket just didn't have enough smoke or spice to warrant a high rating.

I have been wanting to go here since I saw them in Netflix's "Somebody Feed Phil". Sadly most of the best once they featured in the show was Out of Stock/ sold out. There was a long line but it was ok. The one taking the order was not writing and was just going by his memory. Our order was only 2 meat plates with 2 sides each and he managed to scramble everything even if he had to repeat it. Disappointed. For $22 it was also not a lot but I guess inflation nowadays prevented them from serving more. There were 2 sauces and I can't take spicy but they were both very good. I wish they still had the L & L hamburger but they were just starting to form and eventually cook it. The place is outdoors yet clean but today it was humid and warm. I wish I could have rated it much more than 3.
Be the first to ReplyWORTH THE WAIT!!! So amazing.
Got the brisket and sausage and it didn't disappoint. Burger is also 10/10 if you're looking for less food! Guys working were also very nice and patient while ordering.

While visiting Austin we decided to try this based on a Somebody Feed Phil episode. We got in line immediately after arriving early Saturday afternoon. Over two hours later we finally ordered. The food was fine but after waiting two hours, and our original order plans being sold out, it's hard to recommend. I wish the line had markers about how long the wait is from each point in line. It would have been nice to know the estimated wait time. Choose your arrival time wisely!

It was windy and cold so that may have influenced my decision. However, the bbq was heavily influenced by the foreign menu. I wanted traditional bbq and instead was served a plate of kale, and other side dishes that I did not recognized. No standard potato salad, French fries, brisket and ribs!Too exotic for my tastes.

Got here around 2 pm on a Saturday and waited 30 min to order. By this time they've sold out of most meats so we didn't get to order what we initially wanted. No fear because everything that we did order was delicious. Pork hash was my favorite side dish. Soo yummy.Cheddar cheesecake has an apple butter topping which really makes it. Such an odd concoction that I was grateful to try it, but probably would not order it again. Maybe to split amongst a big group because you really only need a few bites.I really enjoyed the barbacado. I thought it had good balance between decadent beef and creamy and light avo.I enjoyed the pork sausage more than the pulled pork. The flavors of both were good. This is a new take on bbq and I found it really fun!

Awesome flavorful barbecue made by people that obviously care about the quality of their food and what you're eating. Definitely recommend next time you're in south Austin

Me and my girlfriend visited after touring the Still Austin Distillery and MAN was this place awesome. They were out of brisket (our fault for rolling up around 6), but I got their L&L burger and this thing is probably one of the best burgers I've ever had PERIOD. My girlfriend got the sausage and it tasted amazing. Sides were great, we got the frito pie and the refried beans and they were both insane. If you're in the area I HIGHLY recommend this place.

Located in a food truck across from Crux Climbing, and next to this hip coffee shop.A unique take on Texas bbq! It was a nice mixup on my 3 day bbq pilgrimage.Beef cheeks was their version of brisket. Very tender, and I personally liked the mix of tendon for texture.Bacon rib was their version of pork ribs, and it was fire! High key rolled my eyes back. Imagine maple bacon but really thick like pork belly. VERY rich and I recommend eating it with the kimchi as it cuts the fat. Frito pie also a really good side.Personally liked La Barbecue and Franklins more, but this was a nice change of pace. I'd come back for sure.

So... another late in the day eatery and we assumed they'd be out of brisket so we just came prepared to try something else. We walked up and sure enough, no line due to limited choices; barbacoa and burnt end cauliflower? I'm not a fan of smoked vegetables(or vegetables in general?) so we ordered a plate of barbacoa to share which came with sides Texas red frito pie and pork hash over rice... Oh my goodness, that was the best barbacoa I've ever had. The lovely could easily tell how much I loved it as I was eating. The smoky flavor, a bit of sweetness, a bit of spice, it was just so dag gone good. The froth pie was for the Mrs and she lived it. The pork hash over rice; imagine a pork based gravy topping an ice cream scoop of rice. It was so good. It's no wonder these folks have so many 5 and 4 star reviews... even with the absolutely horrendous lack of parking. This is seriously the only bad note i have about it. Finding a spot to park was dreadful. I gotto talk to the nice folks and they told me about the smoker and took me back to show me what was going on in the trailer. They had a whole hog smoking in the box and appeared to be shoulder smoking in the horizontal offset smoker. It just smelled heavenly in there. I will, for sure, go back here when we come back to Austin. Just a bit earlier in the day to try the brisket. :)

Well crafted menu. Friendly staff. Felt welcomed in Austin! Highly recommend the L&L burger.

After trying so many bbq options around Austin, we finally picked up Leroy and realized the best bbq was right in our own backyard! They ask what type of cut you prefer - lean or fatty. We requested a mix because our friends like the fatty parts and my husband prefers lean. They were all satisfied. It was cooked to keep it soft. The seasoning is a bit more salt-and-pepper heavy but our group enjoyed that. They gave some pickled cucumbers and jalapeรฑos on the side, along with some delicious sauces! The mustard one was a crowd favorite!

We came here by suggestion of a friend who's a local Austin foodie. We arrived on a cold and rainy day at 11:20 AM and there was still a huge line. Figuring if all these people are waiting and it's pouring down rain this food must be sent from the heavens. So we got on the line even though we did not have an umbrella or a rain jacket because we needed to try this BBQ.Beware the line moves very slow, there were about 10 people ahead of us and we ended up waiting in the line for over an hour to order. We got the beef cheeks, brisket, cold slaw, and mixed pickle veggies. The meat was out of this world tender and moist. I really didn't care for the sides, but my BF enjoyed them. It might just be a preference, the slaw was mayonnaise based and also had crotons and in the mixed pickle veggies we had a huge cauliflower so it was still pretty raw and not very pickled. Overall, I would come back for their meats and try my luck with their other side options. I can also confirm their meat is from the BBQ heavens.

It was my first time in Austin and this was my first stop for food. ย Great spot! ย I had their Barbacoa with Braised Cabbage and Pork Hash & Rice. ย The food was very flavorful and balanced. ย Normally I'm not huge on BBQ bc sometimes it can be a bit too sweet or saucy but this was perfect! ย The outdoor seating/atmosphere was very chill. ย The guys in the truck were very friendly and welcoming. ย 5 STARS would definitely come back!
Be the first to ReplyEasily some of the best food I've ever had in my life.
As a local, I appreciate that they are frequently changing their offerings. You will never be disappointed if you have the privilege of eating at Leroy and Lewis.
Be the first to ReplyStellar.
Took a while, but in a cute outdoor seating area, so grab a beer before you get in line. Really friendly staff who chatted with me about what i might like and made incredible recommendations. The brisket was the best I've had - out if this world. Really nice al pastor and one of my favorite sweet mustard style bbq sauces I've had. The red was quite delicious as well. Worth making a fun afternoon out of!! Thanks, guys!

If you're not waiting in a line before you get your food, it likely isn't a great BBQ spot. So when I arrived at 10:17am and found myself #8 in line for an 11:00am start, I knew this was going to be good. I wasn't disappointed.I went all in. I decided to order two of the 2 Meats, 2 Sides plates and split the entire thing with my lunch date. It was a TON of food for just the two of us. Not only was it a lot, but it was good. It was better than good, but I don't have a thesaurus beyond - oh God, that was good.Started off with the Akaushi Brisket which was just phenomenal. Oh so tender & smooth with an incredible & thick, peppery bark. Very, very good. Also had the Beef Cheeks. This was good. Very subtly different from the brisket, but hard to tell. If they are out of the brisket, this would be a wonderful alternative. Next up was the Barbacoa. This would have been phenomenal on a tortilla with a few toppings with it. One of the best barbacoa I've had. Finally, there was the pulled whole hog. Sweet and citrusy. Quite a hit of pork, there. We also sampled the two BBQ sauces, but neither were needed. In fact, they were tangy & puckering to the point of overwhelming. I think the meats were fine without them. One was a strong mustardy & vinegary / tart concoction. It would go well with the pulled hog if lightly done. The other was a standard savory/sweet dark BBQ sauce. It would have been sublime with a lesser quality brisket. In fact, take this to a different BBQ spot and pull it out if needed. We also did a journey around four of the sides. First up was the Refried Beans. WOW. Loved those. Added some chili to it & queso fresco that just kicked butt. The Pork Hash & Rice was good, but it had a stronger kick than expected. Be aware of that. The Kale Caeser Slaw was nice, different and refreshingly crispy. I would definitely suggest this one. The one that I least liked was the one that just exploded in my mouth. The House Made Kimchi says it is spicy and they weren't kidding. Be especially wary of this if you aren't already a major spicy kimchi fan.Great spot, highly recommended. Pro-tip: Bring some friends so you can enjoy the friendship while you wait and take turns going elsewhere to get some refreshing beverages.
