Consistently Good
4 of us went for a mid week lunch in August. Evrything about this place is smart. The service is impeccable. The food is beutifully presented and beautifully cooked. We all opted for the 42 euro menu. Delightful though, perhaps, priced a little on the top end. Would I go back? I often do!

We booked L'Essille for six of us to celebrate our friends' wedding anniversary. It was a hot evening so we dined out on the terrace. The restaurant is very smart in appearance, the service and food are of the highest standard. We chose from the €42 menu and all found something to our liking. The wine menu is good value and features some nice local wines that we had come across already. The staff were friendly and good-humoured even though they had to suffer our broken French. A very good experience overall

Four of us went to the restaurant for Tuesday lunch at the beginning of March. The restaurant is mentioned in the Michelin guide. Quite rightly so in our opinion. The décor in the restaurant is extremely smart and very modern. The service is exemplary and the food was excellent. Each of us had the fixed price meal at 21 euros which included am amuze bouche. I have to say that the bread rolls were beyond wonderful! It really was exceptionally good value for money. The wine list is varied but not too extensive and very interesting and reasonably priced. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the food, atmosphere and quality of service. Highly recommended.

We stayed overnight on our trip down to Southwestern France. The hotel is a strange mix, rooms arranged around a courtyard which serves as a parking area to the front, with beautifully manicured gardens to the rear where it clearly serves as an event hotel. In September on a Tuesday it looked and felt a little tired, as did the little village (apart from a spectacular abbey), the event season was finished and the chairs, marquees etc were all closed or stacked up. Our room was large and the bed was comfortable enough. We had a nice little balcony too looking over the parking area, So it came as a wonderful surprise when the evening meal proved to be very good indeed. Well cooked, local produce beautifully presented, with a decent bottle of wine. Although we were first into the restaurant, which looked out over the garden, within half an hour it was virtually full, with a mixture of locals and business people (and us), so the atmosphere turned out to be as good as the food. Well worth considering
