Little Pearl Washington Reviews from The Last Year
Phenomenal service.
Phenomenal food. Staff went above and beyond. Even did a special touch on our menu for the evening. Thank you for your hospitality. Will definitely revisit soon. I can't stop thinking about the tomato course and the dessert course.
Amazing experience.
Amazing food and amazing service. The menu was vibrant, and ranged in palate. It was fun to try different food and flavor combinations that I hadn't before.
Cool restaurant with great ambiance.
Tasting menu is cool and has good food, but is extremely pricey. Would recommend only for a special occasion. Apparently it used to be better when they did the cohort experience.
A very quaint and cozy place.
The decor is very simple but sleek. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable of the items on the menu. The food this season was very reminiscent of a backyard cookout but very elevated. Some of the dishes presentations were very creative and unique, but some of the dishes were somewhat predictable. The flavors were exquisite and complex. The wine pairing for the dishes were perfect and complimented them very well. Over all a great place for special events or even a dinner date.
Excellent meal, service, presentation and ambience in glass
Excellent meal, service, presentation and ambience in glass patio. The only factor is there doesn't appear to be any signage and the restaurant is located behind iron fencing in a garden. Our (walking) Navi sent us 2 blocks away, then redirected us to the next street. As it was a humid evening we not only arrived late but sweaty & stressed. Just a small, tasteful sign would've helped locate the address. A little info on the website as well as parking info would also be helpful. Food was outstanding - we've eaten at numerous Michelin * restaurants worldwide including Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, London, many places in France (son lives there) and LP is up there with the best!
We had a wonderful anniversary celebration here on a recent
We had a wonderful anniversary celebration here on a recent visit to DC. While I don't have our full menu with tweaks, I want to first off say how accommodating they were with the menus, including a pescatarian offering for me and making a substitution for their famous Angel Egg that allergies prevented my husband from eating; they also asked whether there were items that we weren't allergic to but just didn't care for, and they offered alternatives for those, too. Service overall was lovely, and the only downside to the experience is the unevenness in pacing the courses that others have also mentioned. The food itself was fantastic. My Angel Egg, a cornbread bite, and the black olive financier stood out as highlights for me. The only dish I was "meh" on was the funnel cake dessert which was good, just not great. The absolute highlight of the night was the wine pairing. I've done many wine pairings, even some at other Michelin restaurants, and I have never had one as good as the one I had here. I was nearly giddy every time I took a sip with a course because the food and wine complemented each other so perfectly. Overall, Little Pearl is lovely, and I'd happily return again.
As a Michelin Star restaurant, I knew that I was set to
As a Michelin Star restaurant, I knew that I was set to have an extravagant and bespoke experience dinning here. Round after round and course after course were a hands down a complex aromatic exploration of culinary ingredient-play!! From the Angel Eggs (interesting play on devilled eggs), Coconut Crusted Australian Prawn, Crispy Potatoes and Seafood Remoulade, Black Olive Financier and Aged White Cheddar Fondue plus much more... EVERYTHING was delicious. My close friend took me to Little Pearl to celebrate my birthday - and I could not have had a better time. There were many birthdays being celebrated that evening - which I believe is a testament to just how special their curated and elevated dining experience is!! Ethan was our server for the evening, and we really could not had asked for a better experience - all thanks to him and their rest of the team at Little Pearl.
The Little Pearl offers a unique 7-course tasting menu.
We were lucky to get seated in the "conservatory" which feels like a pretty, dimly lit greenhouse. The service was very attentive throughout the dinner. Some of the food was surprising. For example, the deviled eggs ("Angel Eggs") were actually savory meringues. We had never had anything like that before. Additionally, the melted cheese course (Aged White Cheddar Fondue) was both savory and a subtly sweet dessert at the same time. The pork and clams course was one of the best! The meat was perfectly cooked, and the clams were delicious. The one course I did not enjoy was the funnel cake. The funnel cake was not crispy or hot enough. I feel like they tried to be very unique with this one, but it did not hit the mark. Everything else was really great, though! I would definitely come back.
Close to a 4.
5. It took me a whole five minutes, walking around the entire facility, to find the one gate that was open. After getting in, though, it was a really nice dining experience. I had: - Angel eggs (5/5) - Dehydrated deviled egg they had a really deep, concentrated flavor - Gyro (4/5) - Coconut prawn (5/5) - excellent texture and taste, I would've probably traded the rest of the menu for more prawns - Potatoes and seaweed salad (3/5) - Pork and clams (4/5) - really flavorful curry sauce, but I couldn't really taste the clam that much - Financier cake and fondue (4/5) - the combination was interesting, but the financier was better by itself - Bay leaf funnel cake with creamy dip (4/5) - interesting mix of flavors between sweet and herby - Cocktails (4/5) The bartender was really friendly, although the pacing felt just a tad slow, especially given I was dining solo. The were a few standout dishes, and I wish I could mix and match between here and Roses Luxury.
The first few small bites were wonderful but as the dishes
The first few small bites were wonderful but as the dishes progressed, they had less and less of a wow factor. The steak and sauce were too salty, the refried beans did not taste like refried beans, and the dessert was messy to eat because the plate was so small. Our server was nice but she kept spilling whenever she refilled our drinks.
Amazing service.
Even with new staff, the expectations were set and met. It was quiet, even with a full restaurant. Perfect for a small group to dine and talk at an appropriate volume. Starting with the angel eggs, the menu was excellently selected. The food was creative and delightful. Surprises, flavors, and presentation make this a worthwhile visit. Large and small tables accommodate most group dinners. I recommend the glass-enclosed dining area if available.
Went back again for a complimentary meal for my partner and
Went back again for a complimentary meal for my partner and I after my last review wasn't stellar and they definitely stepped up their game. Last time I went was for their Summer menu, but this time it was their Winter menu. Most but 3 dishes were the same. Overall, the meals were definitely better, but the dessert was the same and is by far the worst dish on the menu. The service still took a really long time and I wish they sped it up just a little. Once again, staff was very very nice!
We were quite surprised that their seven-course menu was so
We were quite surprised that their seven-course menu was so reasonably priced. The trick is that there isn't much food. At all. The main course had a 2oz portion of ribeye, and the rest of the courses were quite small, too. The service was excellent. The savory drink with Umeboshi was unparalleled, and so was the pork and lychee drink. Their poached pear ice cream and the ribeye were the best things on the menu. I would not recommend spending extra $$ for black truffle or caviar, as we could barely taste either of those. The ambiance in the covered patio was fine. The milk and cookie favor bag at the end was a nice gesture. Overall, a solid four star experience.

5. Even though it was a weeknight dinner, we expected more from Little Pearl. The disappointment started with a phone call pressuring us to take a table in the glass-enclosed "conservatory." We declined, knowing that the room is cold in winter, saying that we preferred the dining room. The disappointment continued when we arrived and were ushered into a tiny back room with 4-5 closely-spaced tables - was this pay-back for refusing the conservatory? The rap/hip-hop music was both too loud and inappropriate for a relaxing meal. The service, while accommodating, seemed cold and robotic. Finally, most disappointing was the food. At best, 3 of the 7 items on the tasting menu @$105 were worth the trip; standard cocktails did not warrant their $25 pricetag. Added to the disappointment was the 3.5% "I-82 fee" - really? On a fixed-price menu? Needless to say, we'll enjoy our next dinner elsewhere. Note: the entrance is on the 9th Street side of the Pennsylvania Avenue address and easy to miss.
The food here is some of the best upscale food.
Each course is unique and feels well thought out. Best of all the portions are large so you do fill full after 7 very fancy courses. The service is nice but like any place, a bit long and slow. The ambiance is ok, a bit cold and small. Overall, would recommend if in the area.
Little Pearl is a very intimate and unique dinning
Little Pearl is a very intimate and unique dinning experience. Everything on the tasting menu was relishes and full of surprises. I found myself eating things I have never ate before and enjoying them. I also ended up enjoying things that I told myself I hated lol. Our server for the night was very knowledgeable and personable. He had a very upbeat attitude and was a pleasure to be around. If you have an opportunity to go, by all means please go and bring a date or a group of friends. Angel Eggs - 10/10 Jimmy Red Cornbread & Foie Gras - 7/10 Crispy Potatoes & seaweed Remoulade - 10/10 Carolina Gold Rice - 9/10 48 Hour Short Rib - 10/10 Black Olive Financier & Aged White Cheddar Fondue -6/10 Poached Pears, Sauternes & Bay Leaf Funnel Cake -10/10
Ambiance: 8/10.
It's cute but you don't have to dress up per se. Service: 10/10. Jordan was our server and he was absolutely amazing. Really helped give us a great experience Food: Angel eggs: 10/10. Jimmy Red cornbread & fole gras 6/10. Crispy potatoes & seaweed remoulade 10/10. Carolina Gold Rice 7/10. 48 hour short rib 9/10. OXTAIL TAMALE: 12/10! Black & olive financier & aged white cheddar fondue 8/10 (don't overdue it with the cheese). Poached pear, Sauternes, and bay leaf funnel cake (no picture because I forgot) 13/10!! Absolutely delicious! Drink: Tequila with lychee cream (I had the mezcal removed) - 10/10. I actually got 2. 4.5/5 A quaint, intimate restaurant with delicious food.
4.5/5 A quaint, intimate restaurant with delicious food. We were sat in a small room with one large table and several two person tables, which were a little too close for comfort once they were all full. The food was delicious, dish after dish gave zero disappointments (several are not pictured). The foie gras, which was presented first as the appetizer with the angel eggs, was my absolute favorite and it just melted in your mouth. We did the wine pairing which was actually a few full pours of wine, which was lovely but sometimes hard to finish before the next course and pairing were ready to be presented, so we often ended up with several glasses on the table. Any server or staff we interacted with provided great explanations of each dish and each wine pairing. Overall, food was great, service was great, my only complaint is the proximity of the tables, sometimes it felt like the servers butt would knock something off of our table while they were serving our neighbors.
Absolutely amazing dinner.
Reservation was at 5:30 on a Saturday, so not too crowded at this point. Was greeted by a really friendly staff, and got us seated right away. The night's menu seemed to have a few hold overs from other menus, but sounds like the Angel Eggs are a constant. The eggs were great, really light and tasteful. Foie Gras was delicious. Crispy potatoes were some of the best I've had. The star for me was the short rib. I really enjoyed this dish and would absolutely come back. Overall great experience, and would recommend this place to anyone.
Sat at the bar, overall meal was great.
Service was on point and food preparation was what you would expect for a Michelin star level meal. The only reason we don't give 5 stars : caviar and truffle add on were a little disappointing. Small bit of caviar on the roasted potato dish didn't really work with the dish flavors in our opinion. and shaved truffle on the rice dish was underwhelming. Kind of got lost in the richness of the Carolina gold rice. Maybe our expectations were unrealistic with those add ons. Anyways we would come back for sure. Everyone was very friendly and service oriented. And like I said before, food was very very good.
Wonderful evening - outstanding food
We had the fixed price menu with the little pearl wine tasting. Every course was like opening a package - each more special than the next. We particularly enjoyed the service - it was impeccable and attentive but not too much
