Wonderful evening - outstanding food
We had the fixed price menu with the little pearl wine tasting. Every course was like opening a package - each more special than the next. We particularly enjoyed the service - it was impeccable and attentive but not too much

We were there for dinner and they didn’t disappoint. Nine course meal with expensive wine couldn’t have been better. You can see the list of items in photos.
Be the first to ReplyClassics With a Twist and New Favorites!
In love with this gem! We placed our reservation well in advance and dined in the patio. The ambience and service was amazing. I would say that for the number of courses, and how tasty the food was, this pre-fixe menu is actually a great value, and I would return again. The staff was so warm and welcoming. We actually had a mishap where a glass was broken at our table and our selected wine bottle was comped, which was not expected but greatly appreciated. The warm cookie at the end and receiving a copy of your menu, as it appears to rotate regularly, really makes the experience feel special in addition to some delicious bites. I will say this that the other flavor that was lacking was a bit of spice on any dish (just my preference), and the Angel eggs are no quite to my palette either (a bit too sweet!) but I’m excited to plan to return.
Be the first to ReplyArrogance and mediocrity
Intoxicating combination of arrogant staff with mediocre food. …..The food does not live up to the pretence to which they aspire. Absolutely not worth the money or the time.
Be the first to ReplyCreative offerings served by a great staff
If you like to be surprised with a delicious creative meal served by an excellent staff give this Michelin restaurant a try. Don't expect any standard offerings at Little Pearl. From the Raw sliced hamachi to the two entrees of gently steamed Halibut & Pecan Crusted pork loin everything delicious . I'd consider this to be a special occasion dinner or maybe you just want to treat yourself to something different.

Little Pearl has a unique location, a very smart concept, perfectly executed menu and a flawless wait staff. This restuarant is the single best value in DC. They $165, 7 course, wine tasting meal I had was by far BETTER than the $1000 price point for Jean-George in Manhattan.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful birthday dinner
I have been meaning to review since taking @delightbycaro for the birthday dinner last year. Had been here pre-Covid for wine in the garden, and it’s just a lovely spot.
Since we are such fans of their other place, Rose’s, wanted to come back for a special celebration. The chefs tasting menu was spectacular- seven course and not once did they miss. Will certainly be back again once the weather is warmer.
"Lackluster" Pearl
I took my mother here for a special night out during her visit to DC. We opted for the prix fixe menu + wine pairing to indulge in having no decisions! The first course was an interesting, non-conventional take on tuna tartare involving vanilla bean. It was good but not something I would crave to order again. The next course of chestnut/mushroom/foie gras puree with black cardamom cream was excellent; a giant bowl of that soup would have sated me for the evening. The third course was a specially constructed mussel salad of sorts - which were presented as scallops by the waiter. The fourth, a pumpkin schnitzel, was disappointing. It reminded me of a lukewarm mozzarella stick where the cheese inside has gone chewy and doesn't ooze anymore. It was boring and the heaping of dill on top, nonsensical. The main entree - a thick slab of pork back fat - was served for us to share. I still don't understand the pork belly trend - who wants to pay hundreds of dollars to eat a hunk of fat that isn't even crispy? The waitress kindly replaced this dish with a burger on a slippery brioche bun. Finally, the dessert, while creative, smelled of forest floor. We didn't care for it and the waitress brought us two scoops of coconut sorbet along with a bag of fresh cookies and milk to take home. She was charming! Moreover, the highlight of our meal was her wine pairing. The wines she chose paired perfectly in terms of flavor and texture - first a white burgundy, then a pink wine from Oregon, a Barbera (for the pork belly), a heavier body red for the burger, and finally an eiswein. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyTasting menu was full of flavor
We arrived hungry for the tasting menu and wine pairing--and had been slightly concerned that there wouldn't be enough food to satisfy us. The first course was a tiny--maybe 1 inch by three inch--slice of melon, soaked with a marinade. It was intensely flavorful, but my companion turned to me and said, "I hope all the courses aren't this size." The second course of beets and berries was amazing--I could eat it for every special occasion for the rest of my life. The 3rd course of a kanpachi crudo with aged peppers was also delicious, The pumpkin schnitzel was inventive and satisfying. By the time we got to the 5th course of tilefish with heirloom tomatoes, we were happy campers, although that course did not have the same inventive flavor "hit" as the other dishes. The desert of ice cream and cake made of sweet corn and figs was a delicious ending to a fine meal. We had the wine pairing, and the enthusiastic server explained each wine, and provided generous pours. We appreciated the thoughtfulness of the pairings. Finally, they sent us home with a goodie bag that included a wonderful chocolate chip cookie, small bottle of milk, and menu. We are "foodies" and considered this experience a great value. We will return!

Little Pearl is excellent - lovely setting, great tasting menu, wonderful wines. We loved everything about our meal. Wait staff were attentive and paced our meal perfectly.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding Meal
This restaurant has been on my list for awhile now and my fiancé and I finally got to see what the fuss is all about! While I’ve become an outdoor dining enthusiast in pandemic times, I wasn’t keen on embracing the cold weather in January to enjoy my birthday meal at the restaurant (even with the heated outdoor patio). So, we opted for the prepaid pick-up tasting option and ordered: vegetarian crumpets, sunchoke risotto, chou farci, puntarelle and mushroom salad, and warm sticky toffee pudding. The restaurant also included a small bubbly treat to help us celebrate the special occasion. The tasting menu was creative, delicious, and well-priced for the quality and quantity of food. We thought the risotto was a little salty, but that didn’t stop us from devouring it. Thanks for making my birthday dinner so memorable. We can’t wait to visit again when the weather warms up.

Tonite best course is salad nicoise and radicchio. Ratatouille is unexciting and chicken dry; lemon caper butter sauce is a hit. Pickup service friendly & efficient. Disappointed that main course was not a Wow!
Be the first to ReplyA Michelin star at an unbelievable price
A Michelin starred restaurant with a great tasting menu at an unbelievable price. The deviled eggs were outstanding. Wait staff was great and very informative. Definitely worth the trip and an attempt at obtaining reservations!
Be the first to ReplyGood service, average food
We had high expectations. Restaurant is beautiful. Experienced service. Food doesnt come close to Roses. Bland, boring and uninspired. Maybe we hit the restaurant on a bad night but it is too expensive to go back. That - coming from people that live in the neighborhood.
Be the first to ReplyMichelin Star Experience on a Modest Budget
When the DC 2020 Michelin list was published, we were very curious about Little Pearl. A $49.00 tasting menu with a Michelin star?
Ridiculous. How is it possible?
While I have a better understanding how it is possible after eating there, it is still very impressive a laudable accomplishment.
For those not willing to shell out for Komi, Plume, or Metier prices, we believe Little Pearl is worthy of a Michelin star after evaluating our usual three-legged stool criteria of service, food, and price.
Service is relaxed, informal – youthful, if you will. But it is definitely attentive and competent. For example, we expressed a minor concern about the temperature, and it was quickly resolved. Furthermore, staff checked back a couple of times to ensure we remained comfortable. This is the mark of a high-quality product. The staff read the notes in our reservation about the lactose allergy and were aware throughout the meal without prompting by us. Water glasses stayed full, clean plates and utensils were promptly replaced between courses, and clear explanations of the wine and food with clear interest, instead of stagnant boredom like at Masseira (a much more expensive Michelin one-star option). Little Pearl voluntarily split a single wine pairing into two glasses. The Inn at Little Washington (Three Michelin Stars) can’t/won’t do this, and we’ve been there half a dozen times. If you can look beyond the Urban Outfitter attire of many of the staff, you will clearly see a quality product. To be fair, there were a couple of hiccups of the lactose free dish initially served to the wrong person. However, since the explanations were so clear, the mistake was obvious and easily correctable. Plus, at this price point, you have to give a little leeway.
For the food, we really wondered if we would leave starving given the low price. Granted, neither of us were entirely full (but we are both big eaters), but we were not hungry either. The portions were civilized, even if a little light. I give a great deal of credit for the quality and creativeness.
We received five courses, a palette cleanser, and dessert. Our first course was certainly creative. Meringue constructed to look like an egg with more traditional devilled egg fillings on top. It was a nice surprise to begin and was just the right amount of gimmickry we need in a meal. The next course was a baguette with butter with some roe mixed in. This helped give a little body and filling to the menu and was an adeate nod to the savory to move into the next course. I really enjoyed the scallops, pickled vegetables and crème. It was a great blending of tastes and the scallops were very fresh tasting. Next, we had a cabbage spring roll, which once again, was extremely harmonious with the right texture and frankly delicious. The main course was pork belly and potato salad. The quality was first rate and once again…the chef is acutely aware of the harmony of texture verified through multiple courses.
The lactose-free dessert was a coconut milk/flavored frozen dessert. It was creamy, tasty, and natural. The other dessert was a chocolate ganache and gelato enhanced with truffles. The truffles were (once again) very well balanced to perfectly enhance the flavors.
We had the standard wine pairing offered (I believe called off the beaten path with another more expensive option). All of the wine was fine and competently paired with the courses. For the low price of $39.00, it definitely did the job and then some to enhance each course. Plus, the wines were unusual enough that it made for some good conversation during the meal. The dessert pairing was a cocktail of brandy, amaro, and honey. I loved the taste of this cocktail. It was a good closer, but given my affinity for Campari, I could have just as easily enjoyed this cocktail as an aperitif instead of a digestif.
The total price for two tasting menus, one standard wine pairing, tax, and a 26% tip was $190.00. Frankly, this was a great value.
However, keep a few points in mind: (1) If you are big eaters like us you likely will not leave completely full. (2) The staff are overall great and competent, but it is not always as polished as some more expensive alternatives (of course a lot of the more expensive alternatives are noticeably less competent), and (3) the quality of the food is quite good, but with a $49 tasting menu there are noticeable cost cutting measures-- dont expect duck, foie gras, or roasted lamb.
I’m not being critical. On the contrary, we were very impressed such a high-quality product could you be offered at such an economical price. I just want other diners to walk in with the right perspective and expectations.
This is really a great value and worth the effort to secure a reservation to try for yourself. Bon Appetit!
Fabulous Tasting Menu
We had a wonderful dinner at Little Pearl. Service was attentive without being pushy and the tasting menu was delicious. It is a little hot in the enclosed patio in the winter so wear layers.
