The good points first. Beautiful interior, really lovely environment. Amazing cocktails. Especially the Angelico Sour.. just perfect. The Parmesan fries were delicious. Not so good… The lighting was atrocious. There was a downlight right behind my head so bright and so badly positioned that I couldn’t see my food unless I moved my head to one side or sat at an angle. My partner said my head was in silhouette the whole time. The music was just slightly too loud and trying too hard to be a little alternative. I have most of the records, they were good, but I wouldn’t put them on over dinner. As the experience went downhill it didn’t help that the music was loud and annoying. In our opinion the food wasn’t worth the price. Absolutely no way. The burrata with pear and hazelnuts was nice but not the best burrata I’ve had. The scallops, two of them for £27, were overpowered by the n’duja and the Jerusalem artichoke (presuming that was the purée underneath) didn’t taste of much. Regarding the Anglolotti cacio E Pepe (£38!) No amount of truffle shavings crudely thrown over this small dish could save its blandness. It’s cheese and pepper… how difficult could it be? I couldn’t find much flavour at all. Finally the Scottish Halibut… (£39). Again lacking in flavour, on a plate with pickled romaneso and smoked muscles and a sauce which didn’t work at all in my opinion. Too many jarring flavours around a (too) subtle piece of fish. In short.. we didn’t enjoy the food at all and the overall experience felt like a very expensive waste of time. We won’t go back to the restaurant, but might return for an Angelico Sour.
