While it doesn't have the "traditional" feel of people walking around with carts of food having you choose what you want, everything is done through the ease of the QR code, which guarantees that you can order and pick what you want, whenever you want! The vibes are still that of a dim sum house, yet with a modern touch. Food is clean and delicious. Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyChecked in on yelp to save waiting time.
Our table for 6 was ready early than expected and servive was quick. They brought the utensils/dishware out and got us our tea. Since we ordered on paper, there was a slight wait in flagging down someone but afterwards, the food came out pretty fast. One downside is our table is in the corner so no one stops by to refill our waters. Ambiance is loud, bustling with conversations and tables almost cramped next to another.
Be the first to ReplyLunasia used to be my favorite dimsum restaurant, my family
Lunasia used to be my favorite dimsum restaurant, my family and I enjoy to have our weekend gathering here since the service and food quality were amazing However, I can't believe this happened to me, the food had mold on it, and the manager didn't willing to get me another one if i didn't request it, this made me so disappointed I loved the food here, but it made me feel so sick right now
Be the first to ReplyThe food is absolutely delicious.
The staff are friendly the restaurant, although busy as well maintained. We drive an hour each way to come here every other Sunday and it's totally worth it.
Be the first to ReplyI have to agree with some other reviewers, the service here
I have to agree with some other reviewers, the service here is terrible! The restaurant opened at 9:30am so we decided to arrive around 9:45am, thinking that there should be spot. To our surprise there was already a waiting list, which is fine because when we signed up, we were about 14th in line. All of a sudden we started noticing that our spot in line kept increasing and now we're 18th in line, which made no sense. When asked about this, the hostess just told us that the reason 4 parties suddenly showed up in the queue was because when those parties were called they were not here. But now they're here, so we added them back on. That to me it's unfair to the people who showed up and have been waiting physically on site to be seated. They just responded with "it's our rule to let people who come late back in line". Then, what is the point of knowing what number we are in line if it's not accurate. Anyways, service was just like any other dim sum place, rude. Besides this, food was decent. Not worth it for the premium price.
Be the first to ReplyGreat dimsum.
No taro dumplings. Nothing we ordered was bad. The shrimp dumplings wrap weren't strong enough to support the big shrimp inside.

I've been here many times since I was a little girl with my family, one of the best dim sum restaurants in San Gabriel Valley. The food and service is consistent and prompt. They are fast and quick with the orders and the food is very flavorful and delicious. You can order anytime of the day until the restaurant closes, my favorites are the egg tart, sesame with red bean filling, sticky rice, wrap, shrimp with spinach dumplings, barbecue pork buns, pineapple buns, beef chow fun noodles, chicken fried rice and tofu with crab and bok Choy. I highly recommend this place. Will be back with family and friends again!

We enjoyed what we had there but I am not sure it's worth the price premium over say, NBC. All the shrimp-based dim sums are very good such as har gow, rice noodle roll... The scallop dumpling with squid ink is excellent and unique. The sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf was below average because the rice was not in contact with the leaf due to a layer of parchment paper (why oh why?) so the flavor was missing. Our string bean did not come till we were done eating, and this was after repeatedly informing the waiter so that was a disappointment. The egg tart was average and it came way before the string bean! The wait is an issue at least on weekends so sign up for the Yelp wait list from home with the time you want to eat. The ambiance is high end Chinese, quite pleasant.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Cantonese food in Hong Kong style.
I just got back from Hong Kong 2 weeks ago, and this place is close enough (but not equal).
Be the first to Replymy family and i first went to lunasia a few years ago after
my family and i first went to lunasia a few years ago after the pandemic restrictions were lifted and have been going back ever since! truth be told, my dad is the picky one when it comes to asian food and dim sum (he visits regularly from taiwan), and he enjoys the ease of ordering (he prefers looking at a paper menu and has me order online- they give you a code to scan on a piece of paper once you're sat). the dim sum staples like har gow and shu mai are big and satisfying, and when we go (usually on sunday AM lining up before they open) the roast pork belly seems fresher than if you go later in the day. it's nice to have dim sum as an option for a late lunch and even dinner, though i have not done that yet.
Be the first to ReplyWe were craving dim sum and got some of today's dishes.
... My favorites today were: Rice Noodle Roll w/ Crispy Shrimp, Scallop Dumpling w/ Squid ink wrap, Sticky Rice Wrap, and pineapple custard bun with real chunks of pineapple inside.
Be the first to ReplyMy first time at lunasia was about 4 years ago and the food
My first time at lunasia was about 4 years ago and the food was so good and decently priced. After years being out of the area, I finally had the chance to come back with my family. I'm not sure if management changed but a lot of the menu changed and the service has became horrible. The food is extremely bland and everything was overcooked. The hargow wrapping were too thick and too soggy, the turnip rice cakes were not crispy at all and honestly just tasted like paste. The you tiao rice rolls were over steamed so the rice rolls part was falling apart while the you tiao was fried beyond belief . It torn up the inside of my mouth eating it. I ordered 14 different dishes and honestly there wasnt one I would get again. Even the tea was flavorless. The service was not the best. My dad was coughing up from accidentally inhaling the hot oil. We tried getting service to get him some water. There were so many servers that straight up ignored us as my dad was turning red in the face before we actually got some help. Overall, food is bland, wait is typically long unless you reserve ahead of time, service is not great, and price is expensive. Will not be coming back anytime soon.
Be the first to ReplyThe dim sum portions here tend to be on the larger side.
I think the dim sum is good but not great
Be the first to ReplyVery good food.
Prices were on the higher side. Service was typical for a traditional asian restaurant. Ambiance was calm and slightly more upscale, but still family friendly.
Be the first to ReplyThey have dim sum available for dinner.
A great way to skip the Morning long waits. It was quieter than lunch time,

So many fun things to eat! Everyone working there was amazing and attentive. Ken is the best! Totally recommend and want to go back
Be the first to ReplyThe food is pricey, the service is poor, and there's a long
The food is pricey, the service is poor, and there's a long wait for orders, especially for dim sum, with limited options. We arrived before 10 am, but waited extensively for the food to be ready. Portions are small and overpriced compared to other places. Overall, not worth returning.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely delicious! Went on a Saturday morning around
Absolutely delicious! Went on a Saturday morning around 10:30 AM, and the wait time was only 3 minutes. When you walk in, there is a Yelp wait list tablet to put yourself on the list, and there are 2 kiosks to order food to go. After you're seated, they give you a piece of paper with a QR code to place your order. I liked that we didn't have to wait for a server and we were able to take our time to place the order. Even though they didn't have dim sum carts, this system worked well since we were able to place additional orders throughout our dining time. The food came out promptly, and everything was very delicious. The dim sums were all big and flavorful. The restaurant was packed, but our big round table had dividers to keep our party of 7 a little more private. The line grew longer and saw many cars looking for parking in the back parking structure. Overall, my family really enjoyed eating here for the first time. Highly recommended!
Be the first to ReplyI've been looking for a place that has good Peking duck.
This place exceeded my expectations. The restaurant itself is very vibrant; giving it a very authentic feel to it. Also, the tables are designed so you can share the food family style; where you can rotate the table and move the food around with ease. The peking duck was excellent, I highly recommend it, and the staff were very friendly and professional. I will definitely be coming back to try the rest of their menu.
Be the first to ReplyThe best dim sun in town (maybe even in the country).
Good service but you may have to wait a bit for a table at peak times!
Be the first to ReplyMy post of 2021 reflected what was happening to restaurants
My post of 2021 reflected what was happening to restaurants due to covid. I can happily say that I had one of my best dim sum experiences since that post. I like the fact that I was able to join the waitlist on Yelp prior to arriving at the restaurant as the wait time when I joined was an hour. Still not crazy about QR codes in lieu of menus. I like being able to peruse the entire menu at a glance rather than having to scroll through a single list. I asked for a real menu and was accommodated with one. Everything we had was delicious. Sorry for not taking pictures. There are probably enough pictures of Har gow anyway. I still miss the cart driven experience and anticipation of what is coming out next but, the quality here is excellent. I was a little disappointed with the scallop dumpling with squid ink as it was a piece of a scallop on top of shrimp. Looking at the picture and description, you assume that is an entire scallop which it isn't. Post stickers were good but could have been crisper. I am glad that we are no longer eating off of disposable dinnerware and that tea comes in a proper cup and not paper. I also like the fact that there are big squeeze bottles of chili sauce and hot mustard on every table. Why did it take Covid to figure that one out? We always have to ask for it and ask for refills everywhere else. No surprises, just good food. Oh, the roasted pork belly was the best!
Be the first to ReplyI joined the waitlist on Yelp.
Waited in the car for 30mins. When I got the message my table is ready, the host said the yelp's waiting list is not valid, i have to joined the list using their tablet. If so, WHY did you even open waiting list on Yelp? Wasting customers time
Be the first to ReplySolid food, a but pricey for what it is.
Totally recommend checking in to yelp for online queue to bypass the HUGE wait. It is a bit "westerner friendly" if you know what i mean... I went with a group of 5 and we ended up spending ~$40 each. So def not your "budget dimsum" place. Id probably eat there again especially if im going wi friends who are a newer to the dimsum experience. Lunasia is pretty, clean, and tasty, but expect to shell out a bit more $$$.
Be the first to ReplyFood is good but service is now terrible post pandemic.
They basically ignore you the entire time you're there and it's all self service, not worth the price for zero service
Be the first to ReplyI looked up nearby dim sum places to try out in LA, and
I looked up nearby dim sum places to try out in LA, and despite the not-so-high rating, the food here was good. Service was also decent. The wait can be quite long, so try to get on the Yelp waitlist as soon as you can. To order, you scan a QR code at the table and order with your phone. No need to point or try to pronounce dishes you're not sure about. Har Gow 5/5 - My most favorite dim sum dish. It's basically a shrimp dumpling with a thin flour wrapper. The har gows were huge here. They were 1.5 to 2 times bigger than the har gow at other places.Shrimp Rice Noodle 4.5/5 - This is typically my second favorite dim sum dish. Can you tell I love my seafood and shrimps? This one came with big jumbo shrimps. The only thing was that the taste was very plain. Definitely soak these in the sweet soy sauce they come with.Xiu Mai 4.5/5 - These were delicious. I typically don't like them because they can be salty, but they were just right here. Every bite was meaty and tasty.Wontons in Chili Oil 3/5 - These were not very flavorful. There was also a sour taste. I usually love these, but would skip them here.Soup Dumpling 3.5/5 - These were okay. Not a lot of soup in the dumplings. Pork Buns 4/5 - These wasn't bad. They did have an interesting taste that was different from what I'm used to.
