Visited the city from upstate today and we just had dinner at the most amazing restaurant with such a great atmosphere, kind welcoming gracious staff and the most delicious food. Our waiter Giovanni was so friendly and accommodating and the rest of the staff checked on us numerous times! The front of the house Jose and Ean were very attentive and sat us so quickly. The whole night was a wonderful experience for us. IF you are looking for elegance and fresh mouth watering Italian with such a chic feel to the place Lupa is the place for you

Excellent food and service! Louis and Carlos are awesome at the bar, Michael and Diego on the floor!
Be the first to ReplyHad an amazing dinner here our last night in the city.
Fantastic wine list and we really enjoyed the 2 bottles that were recommended to us. The food was outstanding, highlighted were the beet, pesto salad, the oxtail ragú and the rigatoni allá gricia. The rigatoni was the best pasta dish I've ever had, and when I am in Rome this summer I think I will be hard pressed to find a better version. The service was a little slow but we were in no hurry so we didn't mind. Oh and the olive oil cake was moist delicious perfection!
Be the first to ReplyThe pasta was dry and way way under cooked.
It's a shame....they charge $30 box for a pasta dish that is below mediocre. The waitress pressure to buy alchool. Will not be going back.

3.5 - Solid food - if I lived in this neighborhood, it would be a go-to. Tried a few of the pastas and sides, and liked everything. The pastas are simple, but perfectly al dente and the sauces were perfect. I thought my cacio e pepe was better than most I've had around the city (including Roscioli). Generously sized portions, too. Service was fine, and there was a lively atmosphere around the bar. I wasn't drinking that night, which was very sad because they have a big amaro selection that I'd love to try a bunch from - next time!

Upon returning to Lupa after many years, our group of six was delighted to find that the restaurant's charm remained intact, despite the densely packed tables--a characteristic that oddly enhances the experience, given it's The Village. From the outset to the end of our meal, there were consistent indicators that this restaurant is run with a high level of professionalism - food, wine and service. The cuisine was delicately excellent, from the bread with excellent yellow-green olive oil, artichokes, prosciutto and cured lingua, to the pastas, fish and superb lamb "scottadito". A surprising pleasure was biting into the large, succulent and tender marinated artichokes - each one a testament to freshness, flavor, and the beauty of nature, marinated delicately to perfection. Although I regrettably misplaced my notes on the red wine we enjoyed, it was undeniably superb. The service, too, was excellent, leaving us overall satisfied with our dining experience.

The food here is very good - delicious pastas and salads, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the location is great - but the seating was SO cramped and uncomfortable that it put a real damper on the experience. A waiter or other patron would literally squeeze by/make me move/hit my chair/get up every two minutes and it was really unpleasant. The chef also refused to accommodate a very minor modification - which I'd normally be "whatever" about, but combined with the uncomfortable seating left a bad taste in my mouth. It's a meh from me.
Be the first to ReplyReally good pasta and Italian food.
Has that old feel of Emilio's. Was initially seated in the back but asked to be moved to the front room. Very cramped spaces and they really try to squeeze everyone in. I ordered the gnocchi and broccolini, husband the amatriciana, my gnocchi was unreal in flavor -- might be the best gnocchi I've had. Amatriciana was ok, nothing special. For the broccolini, they definitely were not kidding about the amount of olive oil, was slathered in it and almost inedible unfortunately. Servers milling around and ready to help, they had a coat check as well. Not too difficult to get a reservation which was great. Will definitely be back and excited to try more of the menu.

Spaghetti Alla Pomodoro with ChiliThe delicate taste is pleasing. Pasta is always a favorite. Good recommendation.Ricotta Gnocchi with Sausage & FennelThe taste of the taste is in place. The delicacy of cooking and the control of the heat are very good.Braised Oxtail with Gnocco Alla RomanaWhen you carefully taste the meat quality of each part of the oxtail, you can taste the guarantee of fresh meat quality, which is very good. highly recommended! ! ! !

NYC has a plethora of Italian restaurants and this place is definitely a solid. It's cozy and warm, with an even steady flow of diners. Our server was attentive and made really good recommendations. I forgot to take a snapshot of my food until the dessert. Food was absolutely delightful - we ordered the meatballs, kale salad, and various pasta dishes. There was not one bad dish. Would come back again.
Be the first to ReplyCame for my birthday awhile back with my family.
Service was solid and attentive and it was nice they gave us new silverware for our entrees. We ordered almost all the pastas to really try everything from the pappardelle, strozzapreti, linguine clams, cacio e pepe, and pomodoro. They were all very good but not anything mindblowing compared to other spots in NYC. It's definitely a good spot but there was something missing that would have really put it over the edge. Either way, had a great time

Had some dinner here it was really packed but i had outdoor reservations. It's warm in the outdoor shed. My waitress was super kind with recommendations and accommodating with my entrees. The entree I wanted to order had dairy in it which i could not have the waitress told me i could get the bolognese pasta instead. Ordered the potatoes as starter. The bolognese pasta was really good actually not overwhelming. My friend ordered the salmon with broccoli but they didn't want the broccoli. When we received the dish it was jus a salmon on a plate with nothing else. I mean understandable because they delivered what we asked for. The service and vibes were amazing though!
Be the first to ReplyUsed to like this spot but not sure what happened.
Got a plate of pasta & a side of broccoli and walked out with a $50 bill, cold soggy broccoli and pasta that lacked flavor and had a pile of water left in the bottom afterward . Go a few blocks over and get pasta somewhere else.

I really wanted to like Lupa but overall for the food was okay. At this price point I was expected to be blown away and I simply wasn't. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff were professional. I was surprised to be charged for tap water, I felt that the waiter should have mentioned it wasn't free. I ordered: Prosciutto with mozzarella- this was good but nothing they actually cookedRicotta & pork meatballs- these were okay, nothing to write home aboutBrussels spouts- tasty Oxtail with gnocco- first time I've had oxtail shredded and with raisins, it was flavorful but weird composition Branzino- really good Crispy duck- skin wasn't crispy and it tasted gamey (first time I had duck that tasted gamey). Also, the fat under the skin wasn't cooked enough so overall I don't recommend this dish.Overall, I don't recommend this place

If you aren't a fan of exceptional food and outstanding service - then Lupa's probably not for you.But if you are - you are in for a TREAT! Lupa is a beautiful restaurant, but the experience doesn't stop at aesthetics. The staff is so kind and welcoming, that you walk into a comfortable setting that you don't often find in New York restaurants. The food is so yummy and flavorful from the pillowy gooey goodness of the Arancini, to the crispy skin of the duck on top of a delicious peperonata. We ordered sides including the perfectly roasted brussel sprouts and the roasted potatoes with a sweet and tangy aioli. My favorite part of any meal is always dessert! My favorites were the olive oil cake (perfectly sponges deliciousness), the tiramisu (that tasted like yummy espresso dusted creamy clouds), and the decadent tartufo. We ate before the camera could capture everything because it was so damn good!
Be the first to ReplyGood food, they make best pasta in New York City.
Similar taste like in Italy. Authentic Italian food

I recently dined at Lupa in New York and unfortunately, my experience was less than impressive. While the atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and welcoming, the quality of the dishes left a lot to be desired. For starters, I ordered the Roasted Beets with Pistachio Pesto and Whipped Ricotta. While the dish was decent, I found that it was missing a citrusy flavor that could have really elevated the dish. It wasn't bad, but it didn't quite hit the mark.Next up was the Charred Octopus with Caperberry and Nostralina Olives. As someone who loves grilled octopus, I was excited to try this dish. Unfortunately, the octopus was soggy and lacked the delicious grilled flavor that I was expecting. It was not enjoyable to eat, and I found myself struggling to finish it.Moving on to the Tagliatelle with Black Truffle and Grana Padano, which was supposed to be the star of the show. However, I was again let down by the dish. While the pasta was cooked al dente, the flavor was completely bland. It tasted like a buttered pasta with truffle, but without any salt, cheese, or pepper to give it depth. I was expecting a lot more from this dish, but unfortunately, it did not deliver. Finally, I tried the Lupa Tartufo dessert, which was also disappointing.Overall, I would not recommend Lupa based on my experience. While the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the service was fine, the lackluster quality of the dishes made it an underwhelming dining experience. I was disappointed by the Charred Octopus, Tagliatelle, and Lupa Tartufo.

We arrived a few minutes before our 9pm reservation and the place was packed. We were seated at about 910 and it took about 10 minutes for someone to come and as what kind of water we wanted and then another few minutes to ask if we wanted drinks. I was very unhappy with the service. I asked our waiter for some recommendations and I while I knew what the dishes consisted of, he was very snide and aloof when giving me suggestions. With desert as well. We had to ask for our water to be refilled and not once, did anyone come over and ask how our food was. Our waiter had a trainee with him, and she was wonderful, but again, no one asked how our food was. We were asked if we wanted to see the wine list, I asked for a specific wine, they did not have, but brought me something similar to taste. I said I liked it and would have a glass after I finished my cocktail. That was the last I saw of the sommelier.I will say, the food was delicious except for the fact that my partner order the steak and got mostly a plate of broccoli rabe with 4 potatoes, which was very disappointing I will probably not go back
Be the first to ReplyPerfecto al dente homemade pastas .
.. penne w/short rib raghu, fresh spinach salad unique twist w/speck and fried soft cheese cubes. Delightful. Generous pour on the Prosecco! Friendly informed staff.
Be the first to ReplyLupa was really good in the summer the first time I tried
Lupa was really good in the summer the first time I tried it so I raves about this spot to my friends. We made reservations for 6 on a Sunday at 5:30pm. Lupa was already packed by then! We got seated all the way in the back and our sommelier was so helpful with us ordering a bottle of wine. We didn't hear any specials of the night from our waiter so we just ordered a bunch of things off the menu. We ordered 5 appetizers, 6 pastas, and 3 sides! I'm sad to say that our sides were the highlight of the night. We started with parm and added the Buffalo mozzarella. This was good but how can you really mess this up? The lobster burrata was one of the weirdest thing we had for the night, it was very fishy with a tiny little piece of lobster. The sauce was just really off and we didn't know what was wrong with it? The Arancini was okay, the green sauce under tasted very earthy was we weren't a fan of it. The crispy Brussels sprouts were the best appetizer. Our carbonara pastas were on the saltier side, the gnocchi was underwhelming and wasn't really something we wanted to finish, and short ribs ragu was alright. The sides: broccoli rabe, potatoes, and mushrooms were well seasoned, crispy, and flavorful. I think if you wanted to try something here, I would say order the sides, the carbonara, and parm with Buffalo mozzarella. I hope they adjust their salt levels and taste before sending it out, too.

This place has such a great reputation, I felt fortunate to get a last minute reservation. The service was very good, we dined outside, which was nice, but a very loud group next to us.(not the restaurants fault) but the food... We had the bolognese, it was heavy for our liking, and not a lot of depth to the flavor. The chicken dish we ordered, was cooked perfectly with a crisp skin and moist as could be inside, but again not a tremendous amount of flavor.Brussle sprouts, were ok. Topped with some pomegranate, which seemed like an afterthought.Overall, there is so many great Italian restaurants in NYC, you really have to stand out in flavor to make an impression, and this meal did not do that for us. Too much hype, without substance.
Be the first to ReplyLupa was a highlight of my trip to NY.
The food was amazing, priced well, and of high quality. But more importantly, the staff made my visit incredible. The waiter was friendly and we were able to talk to the chef from Italy. The desert at the end was very special: tiramisu in a bialetti espresso machine.
Be the first to ReplyWhere do I begin.
The wait staff was excellent. Attentive. The wine list is excellent. I've been here numerous times and always satisfied. However, the saltimbocca was a grease ball. Awful. The crispy duck!!!! OmG! One of the worst dishes I've ever been presented. Duck skin should be crispy. This was a wet gelatinous mess. Disgusting. The confit itself? No flavor. Over cooked. Dry. I returned my dish. One of my guests fed her dish to her dog. Not sure if the dog turned it down. The wait. 9pm reservations. Show up on time. And you wait 1 hr. The crowd? Not what I'm accustomed to. Will never return.
