Maple & Ash Chicago Reviews
OVERVIEW: Excellent service, incredible vibes, delicious
OVERVIEW: Excellent service, incredible vibes, delicious food, and really cool spot to visit. Definitely a splurge, but one that's worth it - especially if you're celebrating a birthday or anniversary. Dishes are best if you can share them (family-style), but totally doable individually if you have a larger party. Menu has great variety and everything we ordered was spot on! Very elegant, fun, social club ambiance. The restaurant gets very dark and is lit by candlelight at each table. Upon arrival we were directed to the elevator which has a concierge. We dined in the main dining room and were given a welcome cocktail and an amuse-bouche (chips and dip), along with the custom birthday menu keepsake. Service is tailored to your needs and courses are paced without any rush, which is amazing. We spent about 3 hrs. total during our experience, and enjoyed every minute of it! FOOD & DRINK RATINGS: - Cure to Boredom (4/5): Recommended by our server after I told him I liked light, citrusy-sweet drinks. This one was unique and tasty without being too strong or overly-sweet. It was perfect. - Wedge salad (5/5): Best wedge salad I've ever had. The bacon bits are top notch - super thick cut and perfectly crispy and chewy! I loved that it came with an onion ring as well. Delicious! - Tuna crudo (4.5/5): Off-menu special that was pretty tasty. Layered with apple and mushrooms, had a nice fall flavor. Big fan of tuna and this was good! - Oysters (4/5): Definitely on the smaller side of east coast oysters, but still good. The mignonette and sauce were simple and nothing out of the ordinary. - Filet mignon (5/5): Perfectly cooked! We added the bรฉarnaise sauce to it, which was thick and flavorful. Definitely a lot of sauce (on the side) but you're paying $6 for it. - Scallops (3.5/5): My only disappointment with this dish is that you're literally only getting 2 scallops (cut in half), which is crazy for the price tag. They were seared well and served with a tasty haricot vert, but I would probably pass and order something else next time! - Potatoes au gratin (5/5): The BEST au gratin potatoes I've ever had. SO good I'm still dreaming of them. Cheesy and flavorful with the perfect golden crust. - Ice cream sundae tower (5/5): A super fun dessert! Not anything special other than a fun concept. Lots of toppings on a tower and your own ice cream bowl with 3 scoops (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry).
The steak continues to be one of the best steaks in the
The steak continues to be one of the best steaks in the city in my opinion. Really well prepared, the open flame is clearly evident in the flavor of the steak and my steaks have always been cooked exactly as desired. This time we got the enhanced butter which was delicious. I don't normally like sauces on my steaks as they mask the steak itself, but this really elevated the steak and paired so well with its natural flavors. Was it overly rich? Eh, a bit, but when in Rome! I was however disappointed in a couple other things this time - the brussels sprouts were ridiculously tiny. For $16 there better be some heaping brussels, but this was just like shavings / leaves that were overcooked and oily. My wife just kept looking at it saying there's nothing here. It was spread out on the plate to look like way more than what it was. They also gave some weird excuse as to why there was no spinach which was the dish we wanted in the first place. Something about the weather and season. Lastly, although our server was very friendly, he kept stepping away to take care of other tables. In the middle of taking our order another table's food came so he stepped away, served them, and then came back. He did the same thing when a different table's cocktails came when it was time to serve us. Disappointing for a high end steakhouse. He knew it was poor form and apologised multiple times, but it was disappointing.
My favorite steakhouse in Chicago.
Everything from the decor, food and service is highly intentional
This place was amazing! The ambience was nice!! The service
This place was amazing! The ambience was nice!! The service was great!!! The food delicious and drinks...OMG nothing like I've ever tasted before. I will definitely be back. My first time eating at the restaurant, I celebrated a milestone birthday and they did not disappoint
My First Experience but won't be my last!
I saw the chef owner on Good Morning America and made a note to go whenever I returned to Chicago. It was truly an exquisite dining experience. My server was Sandra and she was just extraordinary. It's not far from the Magnificent Mile. They have a casual restaurant (Bar Eight) on the ground level. I entered and checked with the host, she directed me to go down the hall and take the elevator to the 3rd floor. I was welcomed when I got off the elevator and escorted to my table. I've never seen so many staff members in a restaurant. The place was very full and beautiful. Every table had candle operas or candles. They served some homemade chips with what was the best French Onion dip that I've ever tasted. I had a salad that wasn't on the menu with compressed melon, tomatoes and Italian cheeses and it was delicious. I'm not much of a steak eater anymore but ordered the filet mignon with asparagus. They warmed up their Beefed up Butter at my table then poured it over my filet mignon, which made it even better. The asparagus was topped with shaved almonds, orange and mint, and a garlic aioli sauce. It was one of the best meals that I ever had. It made my Labor Day weekend in Chicago very memorable.
Favorite restaurant ever! Cannot recommend enough to anyone
Favorite restaurant ever! Cannot recommend enough to anyone looking for a super attentive experience with amazing food that never disappoints! The seafood tower is delicious, but their standout is their steaks, pastas and apps. The agnolotti is a MUST and the hazelnut cake is delicious. Welcome drinks and complimentary chips and caviar are the best way to start your night. The ahi tuna tartar is the best I've ever had and the wedge salad is so good! Can't wait for my next visit
Absolutely my new favorite spot for "breakfast
Absolutely my new favorite spot for "breakfast extraordinaire" in Chicago. This place is absolutely amazing and "all the special things". The pictures do not do it justice. It is so elaborately decorated with full class and distinction and the sea of large lit candelabras provides the perfect finishing touch. In addition to the exceptional ambiance, the customer service is second to none. Our waiter was fabulous and helped us select the perfect breakfast entrees. And to top it all off; breakfast was hands down over the top fabulous in every way from presentation to taste it was incredibly delectable. I can't say enough good things about this place and as a "foodie", I am particularly selective on what I consider fabulous and amazing. As if our visit could not get any better, we simply asked the guest stand of ladies on the way out if they could direct us to a good pedicure shop for a quick stop. They not only identified a location for us BUT walked us down the steps and half way down the street to ensure that we were going in the correct direction; waiting until we entered and waved. You just don't get this type of 5-star service anywhere anymore. I cannot say enough great things about Maple and Ash. What a much needed gem and I can't wait to return. Thank you for being "all of the things that take a restaurant from good to great"!!!
Very cool atmosphere, amazing service, and the food was too
Very cool atmosphere, amazing service, and the food was too notch. Certainly one of the top steakhouses in Chicago.
This was my third time visiting Maple & Ash.
I come back each time for the excellent service. Sandra was my server and she was attentive and handled my questions and concerns with care. She provided excellent recommendations and made my brunch special. As an introvert, it was good fortune to visit Maple & Ash for brunch and it wasn't crowded. However, for it to not be crowded, my entree (king crab eggs benedict) was delivered cold, which is unacceptable. Sandra and the onsite team made it right and the meal was redeemed thanks to the proper preparation of the carpaccio and the coconut pie.
This was a great dining experience! We got the seafood
This was a great dining experience! We got the seafood tower which was amazing. The only thing is it's pretty small so I would definitely order sides as well. The Mac and cheese was good but extremely rich. The espresso martinis are delicious. I celebrated my birthday here and it was great! The inside is beautiful as well, it's dimly lit. The service was not bad.
Maple & Ash 8.23.25
It was one of the best steakhouse experiences we have ever had. Maple & Ash is a little slice of Miami in Chicagoโs Gold Coast.
Absolutely amazing.
We went for the seafood tower and the flavors are bursting. We added the pasta to the sauce of the seafood and it was delicious. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and quick. Our drinks came out fast and the ambiance was amazing. The low lights and comfy cozy chairs made for an upscale and fun evening. We had affogato for dessert and it was perfect. Their espresso was fresh and just the right amount of bitter. Highly recommended.
Great 40th Birthday Dinner!
Fantastic restaurant! Food was phenomenal, the service was outstanding, and the ambiance of the establishment was second to none! My wife and I were there to celebrate my 40th birthday and the attention to detail was superb!
Lovely Setting, Lofty Prices, Limited Wow
I was in Chicago for work and joined colleagues for a business dinner at Maple & Ash after a long day at the office. The patio provided a perfect setting to unwind, and one of our local hosts recommended it as a favorite. As a Phoenix local, Iโd heard the buzz around the Scottsdale location, so I was curious to see what the hype was about. First impressions: the menu is ambitious but not particularly inventiveโstandard high-end steakhouse fare - and the prices are sky-high. Truly, this is an incredibly expensive menu. The cocktail list featured some creative options, though none stood out on paper. That said, the mixologist delivered. We especially enjoyed Whatever She Wants (Botanist gin, lychee vermouth, sake, orange bitters, saline, lemon) and Pillow Talk (Ketel One, aloe, yuzu, cucumber, Canadian maple, hibiscus)โboth refreshing and summery. The menu offers plenty of variety, so pick your poison. The sushi was the clear standout. We shared the Snapper Ponzu, Salmon Miso, and Spicy Tuna rollsโall beautifully prepared, fresh, and delicious. We also shared several sides: the mac & cheese and broccolini were solid, but the parmesan fries with garlic aioli sauce were a favorite. For our party of four, we had a mix of steaksโfilet, steak frites, and a $99 bone-in ribeye. All arrived perfectly cooked (medium rare across the board), and while everything was very good, nothing wowed us. For a restaurant positioned at this price point, the food simply didnโt rise to the level we expected. Service was excellent - warm, efficient, and attentive - and we had a lovely evening overall. Iโd gladly return for cocktails and sushi on the patio. But in my view, Maple & Ash overestimates its own impressiveness. Itโs a solid, polished steakhouse, but not exceptional, and certainly not worth the steep investment.
THE place to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries
It's been a long time since my wife and I celebrated a birthday or anniversary at Maple & Ash. The pandemic and illness set us back. But there is nothing like the attention and special feeling and poster card tributes you get when you celebrate a special occasion at Chicago's busiest steakhouse. Located at 8 Maple Street in the city's Gold Coast neighborhood, at the intersection of Rush and State Streets, across the street from Mariano Park, it is a white-tablecloth restaurant with a plush lounges that serves prime steaks and seafood and features deep-set leather couches, clubby music and an elite wine list that has been described as "one of the most outstanding in the world." Listed on the Michelin Guide, the whole show is orchestrated by chef Danny Grant, a two-time Michelin star recipient. Open from 5 to 10:30 Sunday through Thursday and 4:30 to 11 on Friday and Saturday, Maple & Ash also offers a wonderful setting for people watching while munching on your shrimp cocktail. For starters, we enjoyed wild black prawn shrimp cocktails and Fork & Knife Caesar salads with wood fired Romaine lettuce, pecorino, soft cooked egg and sprinkles. For our entrees, we chose eight-ounce filet mignon with bearnaise sauce, roasted mushrooms and Yukon Gold potatoes au gratin. For dessert, we completed our joyous celebration with large slices of coconut cream pie with graham crust, coconut custard and rum chantilly. You always leave with a smile and big poster cards when you dine at Maple & Ash.
Beautiful place, unfortunately terrible meat quality
We had heard a lot about this place, but it was unfortunately a complete let down, from one perspective only (and the most important one too) - the food For $700, this was robbery and a farce! Steak was so average it felt like it was bought from a local supermarket - no flavour at all. All the sides were drenched in butter and oil. The one positive is the service, it was exceptional. However, when a steakhouse has terrible steak, its all in vain. I would recommend going to "Girl and the Goat" or "Bar Mar" - very sad to say - don't waste your money here.
Phenomenal food, OK service, very crowded
Let me start this review, saying the food was phenomenal The atmosphere way too crowded with people. If you like good food, you better like people. We arrived for 930 reservation and was finally seated at about 10:15 PM. We waited in the bar area, which was so crowded. It was uncomfortable. Truly, they need to limit the people in the bar area for waiting customers that are waiting to be seated. I understand itโs money and they make lots of it here, but also you need to preserveyour reputation as a fine dining establishment and have limitations. There is a bar on the first floor when you first walk in that was not crowded at all, perhaps redirect some people down there or just limit people up on the third floor for dining too patrons that are waiting to be seated. Many people were there just for the Atmosphere and nostalgia. I loved where they sat us, a corner booth on the outside of the room for we could see everything. Very comfortable very romantic. The atmosphere of the room is pretty cool very high ceilings a lot of decor that goes along with the mood of the restaurant; High class. Service was all right; I felt like we had a car salesman as an our waiter. Called me bro a few times and dude. Imagine thatโs what itโs like when you wanna be a hipster. Iโve been to plenty of places that have great service that The waiter is not trying to be your best friend, and thatโs what I felt like in this situation. The food was phenomenal. We had the seafood appetizer planter that had scallops shrimp lobsterโs clam in a certain type of butter sauce, fully worth the $220 for it. The seafood tower came with an option of pasta with an Alfredo type of sauce with it. We did that, and it wasnโt worth it. The taste was good, but the amount was minuscule For the amount that we paid For it. My girlfriend had the veal chops in which came with a mushroom sauce on top and that she just absolutely loved. I had the New York strip, and the seasoning was perfect. I did ask it for rear I did recieve it medium. But I was too hungry to send it back because by now it was 11:45 PM. Besides, we ordered the Brussel sprouts and also the sautรฉed mushrooms. Both I highly recommend. The place was good. I donโt know if I will come back due to the fact that it was so overwhelmingly crowded, and uncomfortable prior to the meal, that I could go to another establishment in Chicago have the same quality of meal and not be as crowded. Total bill whereโs approximately 650 bucks for two with only one drink each Peace
Excellent service
Dibe there to celebrate my birthday....and I must say few of the main dishes were a bit salty and heavy sauces nevertheless they were edible. However the excellent service from the door lady to the waiter we're outstanding and professional.... everyone was treated like a guest in a home. Also I walked away with a " a birthday menu". Thank you.
An Amazing Dinner, Venue and Experience!
About as fancy a dinner & venue as one can expect in Chicago. Itโs what we expected and we were not disappointed!! First off, atmosphere and vibe is as good as most comment on. Restaurant requires an elevator ride and once in the lobby, it is simply hopping! We were seated quickly with our reso, perfect seat with our back to a wall, allowing us to enjoy the views. Service was beyond expectations. Our main host was Javie, amazing. Patience, explanations, offerings, banter, there was nothing left he didnt or couldnt do. Not always the case when serving only 2 ppl when there are larger groups larger tip options available. We would insist on having him again. The food was excellent. Served with flair. Ordered the shrimp cocktail, bone in rib eye, king crab, whipped potato, M&A butter, two drinks. All were simply delicious. The crab appeared โsmallโ so just be aware based on your appetite as it isnt huge for the price U$62. Prob also wouldnt order the butter for the U$12. The resto was full, very busy, great decor and vibe. Would definitely be back but note, it is pricey. However, well worth the visit. Will not disappoint.
MASON: The best waiter in Chicago.
What an incredible meal!!!!! The seafood was fresh, the steaks perfectly prepared, the wine exquisite and the desserts devine!!!!!!! The candlelight setting was the perfect ambiance even if a bit dark, but the absolute star of the dinner was the tremendous service provided by MASON! The best waiter in Chicago. (Maple & Ash this "Employee Benefits" charge coincidentally is exactly the same as the credit card fee!!!! Ask me before you add $25 to my check!!!!! When I drop almost a $1,000.00 for dinner I don't expect a surprise on my bill!!!!!)
Delicious and amazing dinner and service!
Had an amazing dinner for our anniversary. Wine pairing with IDGAF. Each wine and every portion of the meal was perfect. We were greeted and told happy anniversary by every staff member, and our head waiter Brad was top notch! Would definitely recommend going here if you are looking for a nice dinner out while in Chicago.

I rarely write reviews, but after my visit here I really felt the need to leave one. My family was celebrating 2 birthdays with some very picky eaters, which can make dining out an unpleasant experience. We really do not do it that often. They often go in expecting to be disappointed, but then we met our server that evening. Her name was Alondra. She was simply the best. She took the time to explain the menu and talk to my pickiest of eaters and I just cannot tell you what a difference that made. The food was excellent, the cocktails were perfect and our service was simply outstanding! Thank you Maple & Ash, job well done

Came in for lunch on a week day, the bar tender was super nice. This is considered one of the best steakhouses in Chicago so my expectation was high. Ribeye is usually my favorite cut, not having a big appetite that day, I opted for a chopped wedged salad and a medium rare filet mignon instead. The salad was a hit, surprisingly it came with an Onion Ring on top. The bacon bits were chunky and juicy, absolutely amazing. Then came the filet, looks stunning I had to take a picture, however it was cooked close to medium rather than medium rare I wanted. Since cut is a lot leaner than ribeye, it was a bit disappointing. The bar tender offered to get me a new one, since I was in a rush for a meeting I turned it down. The decor of this place was very classy, a good place for business meetings for sure. When I get a chance will return for ribeye. Price wise this is more expenuthan the top steakhouse in New York.
Impressed by how good the sushi was here.
Also the fries were to die for. Service was impeccable. Lovely outdoor seating area.

Came here last year to celebrate getting engaged to my now husband. The service was top notch and our waiter was very attentive ensuring that all was going well. The food had such great flavor that just looking back at the pictures makes my mouth water. I'm hoping to go back soon to be able to celebrate new milestones at this location.

This place is def a date night vibe! The staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable. The views from the 2nd floor is to die for especially while enjoying an amazing meal! I took my sister here and she loved it, oh did i mention shes a picky eater. The food was very flavorful, fresh, and mouthwatering! My favorite was the seafood tower! Its def a must have, especially if you like clams. I cant wait to go back
Love this place ! The ambiance, the food .
And service ! Brooke it my girl !!she is delightful and always a joy to be around !
Exquisite restaurant for a special occasion!
My wife and I dined at Maple & Ash for our 19-year wedding anniversary, and we were absolutely in awe! Decor: The atmosphere was modern, sexy, and chic. We enjoyed the lounge music that softly played in the background, and the captivating enlarged and framed photos. There was a hostess and attendant in the bathroom. The wait staff were all professionally dressed. Food: we ordered the wood grilled Spanish octopus, bone-in filet mignon, brussels sprouts, and Yukon gold potatoes au gratin. The food was amazing and cooked to perfection. Service: professional, attentive, knowledgeable, and courteous. We felt acknowledged, welcomed, and appreciated as we celebrated our 19-year wedding anniversary at Maple & Ash. Cost: expensive, but worth it. This is a classy establishment so expect to pay for that. We felt that the prices were fair for what you got. Just prepared to shell out some $$$$. I highly recommend a visit to Maple & Ash if you are in Chicago and looking for cool, romantic, and exquisite location for a special meal.
Why are you not making reservations!!! Remember they do
Why are you not making reservations!!! Remember they do have a slight dress code but personally the bar is where it is at!! Edwin and Chloe are hands down some of the best bartenders! We made reservations upstairs and turned them down to sit at the bar!! The oysters, sushi and everything are as fresh as can be! We can't wait to come back!
The ambience is hip, intimate, and romantic.
It's a darker dining room but lit with drippy candles and the perfect decibel of music. Our server Sarah was amazing, giving us all the info we needed to select our dinner while also being informative about suggestions. She made our two children feel at home, and they enjoyed the experience. The wagyu experience was a highlight, as was the order of clams. Don't fill up on the complimentary chips with caviar onion dip, because there's also a delicious bread course before your meal arrives. They also serve complimentary cocktails (or mocktails) that were a huge hit. The potatoes were delicious and our steaks were perfectly cooked. We would absolutely recommend this for a celebration or if you're looking for a very nice steak dinner. Be prepared to spend the $$$$ but it's well worth it.
Maple & Ash has lost its luster.
I've brought clients here many times and spent thousands for a wow factor. Brought my husband and baby today for my birthday. Ordered the largest seafood tower and it was not even remotely a wow like it has been in the past. The seafood was cooked but improperly for most of the shellfish offered. The sever carelessly threw in par boiled pasta and hardly checked on us. I feel like I was discriminated against for bringing in a sleeping baby. The famous personalized happy birthday menu was brought out after we had already ordered. I'm disappointed I chose to spend such a special occasion with Maple & Ash. I won't return.
I had an amazing time!! The seafood platter and meatballs
I had an amazing time!! The seafood platter and meatballs are to die for!!! The drink was great too! The service was very quick and efficient!! The ambiance is really laid back and classy, I loved everything about it!!
Excellent food and service beginning to end
Dined for Fatherโs Day and had a wonderful experience. The food was excellent. Particularly the grilled seafood tower, ribeye and Australian wagyu. Welcome cocktail and appetizer were a nice touch. John David, our server was excellent. Timely, attentive, knowledgeable and welcoming. He even got the off putting celebratory sign changed for us. And gave my husband a take home cocktail! Nice touch again! We dined here over a year ago and the service overall was subpar. I hesitated to return. This night was just right and made for an enjoyable Fatherโs Day. Thank you!
A delicious, fun, thoroughly enjoyable family celebration dinner
We were celebrating my nephew's graduation from Northwestern. I could not make it when his brother graduated two years ago, so this was our first chance to celebrate in person. The graduation ceremonies were wonderful and the family was looking to have a proper celebratory meal. I asked my nephews to pick a restaurant they liked and luckily friends had introduced them to Maple and Ash. Dinner for six was energetic, fun and quite delicious. Service is quite energetic and enthusiastic and the diner is well-informed and served by a primary server and staff teamwork. They started us out with a complimentary cocktail served to the entire table (everyone at our table was over 21) and welcomed the graduate with one of their signature personalized printed menus (I asked that they skip the F-word, grandma would no be amused ๐ ). We ordered a lot of appetizers, and they were wonderful. Experienced diners (like my nephews) know that there are classic items that may not always be on the menu, but can be served. The bacon is FANTASTIC. We avoided the seafood tower because one of the boys is prone to shellfish allergies. But even he might join the next time (we had four Epi pens, just in case). Main courses varied from scallops, fillet, surf and turf, bone-in strip and ribeye. We all enjoyed our dishes. My sister was slightly disappointed by the lobster in the surf and turf, but her steak was great, as were all the others. Medium rare for most, perfect for me, well-done for my mother and sister and still juicy and tasty. The extra aging on the ribeye was a noticeable enhancement to the taste. The lobster in the mac and cheese was great, the mac and cheese too. Mashed potato was the second side. Plenty for the table. An Oregon Pinot was a good pairing for the variety of dishes. (Their wine list is encyclopedic and very pricey). All the cocktails, wine and food were served fast and at proper temperatures. We finished with the pre-ordered mini red velvet cake and added bananas foster, paired with ice cream (they had me at ice cream). The preparation at the table is quite the show in their dark dining room (the lawyer in me hoped a fire extinguisher was properly on standby nearby, no one got hurt). We had a great meal in a wonderfully loud and fun environment. Not cheap, but quite reasonable price to quality ratio that my family enjoyed and appreciated. I hope we all make it back soon.
Amazing from start to finish
Amazing from start to finish. We celebrated our 40th anniversary here. Started with a glass of champagne and an appetizer of homemade chips and onion dip with caviar on top. Entrees were delicious scallops with au gratin potatoes and steak frites. Finished with a coconut cream tart and nightcap. The food was delicious with a beautiful presentation. All staff members were so gracious and our waiter, Michael, was first class!! Itโs a gorgeous venue and will definitely return for another special occasion.
Dinner date
I'm not sure this restaurant lives up to the reviews. Steak & potatoes were great, the brussel sprouts not so much. Odrered dessert, was good, but coffee was forgotten. The service was absolutely terrible. Very noisy difficult to hold a conversion.
poor
A ludicrous pretentious restaurant. Terrible, over priced food. The starters were smothered in nasty, cloying, gloopy sauces. Even the Caesar salad was a candy mess. The steak was poor. The music at 7 in the evening was so loud you had to shout to hear yourself heard. I know, I know, they are trying to create an atmosphere. Pretending to be 'with it' and young. Attempting to differentiate themselves from other steak restaurants, however you do wish to be able to actually hold a conversation over your meal. The martini had so much ice it was watery. Dreadfully over priced. It's the emperor's new clothes and at the end of the day it is still just a steak restaurant. But is it a good steak restaurant? Are the chefs competent? Nope. Do yourself a favour, stroll across the road and go to Gibsonโs to see how it should be done.
Maple & Ash definitely lives up to all the hype.
The ambiance, food, and service were all top notch...I think? LOL! I'm embarrassed to admit, but we got completely wasted and the whole experience was a bit of a blur so I'm a little hazy on specific details. All I remember clearly was that the dinner started with appetizer drinks and a caviar dip thing which were both complimentary, followed by the seafood tower, some steaks, and dessert... and that we were completely satisfied with everything. I'm sure we were difficult customers that night (sorry!), but I don't remember getting any sass from the servers. We came famished and completely sober, but left full, slushed, satisfied, and wallets empty lol.

First and foremost, outstanding wait service! We loved the candelabra on our table too! Food was great, salads, steak, appetizers all good. Fun atmosphere, a bit loud. Only sore point was the dessert- the ice cream had no flavor whatsoever, aside from the strawberry scoop. Reviving 4 stars because the host was very rude and told us he didn't have a reservation for us... when the rest of our party was checked in and sitting at the bar upstairs and there was in fact a table of 9 for us... we had to just walk in and ignore him.

I love love love dining here, just entering you get the air of fine wine and a fine time ! The food never disappoints me and service is quick and attentive. As well as the staff all around was super helpful and nice . Full of smiles!
this place certainly passes the vibe check.
it's sexy, romantic, and very upscale. the service was also great - the entire wait staff timed each course perfectly. the potatoes au gratin were so deliciously creamy and decadent. the bone marrow was very flavorful. my takamori drunken wagyu was superb - really good seasoning and cooked just how i like it. however, my partner's aged new york strip was nothing to write home about. it tasted very tough, but maybe this was because i tried this after my wagyu. the starter chips and dip was good, but the dip honestly tasted just like french onion dip. also, i know this is fine dining, but man is this place pricey.
Candle Lit Heaven
Once again, show me a steakhouse and I'll show you all the fantastic seafood options! Maple & Ash has a romantic and sexy ambiance, complete with white tablecloths and candlelight. I don't think there is an electric light in the place. Helmed by two-Michelin-star Chef Danny Grant, the menu delivers exquisitely presented wood-fired dishes, complemented by a world-renowned wine selection recognized by Wine Spectator. Protip: grab a drink in the bar downstairs before heading upstairs to dinner. Here's what we had. HAMACHI CRUDO golden beet, wild citrus, habanero & cilantro YELLOWFIN TUNA TARTARE avocado, crispy shallots, mango & chili oil WOOD-GRILLED SPANISH OCTOPUS confit marbled potatoes, saffron rouille & herb salsa BRIOCHE CRUSTED HALIBUT Salsify, escargot, chervil, & veloute The service was impeccable. Loved it!

Do not go here! The management has changed in the environment has changed. This place is not a place I recommend. There are so many other great places in the west loop. This place has literally fallen apart.
I lowkey just went here today.
When we walked in the place looked decent aesthetically . We sat on the 1st floor for a lunch reservation, where they had a nice lounge and bar area. While chillin and trying to figure out what to order, we had a gentleman pour us room temp water and when I took a sip of the water through my straw something besides water came out. I took what ever it was out my mouth and it looked like an old piece of meat or something(). The guy apologized but never told his server partner what took place. They gave a lousy 10% off we didn't leave though shorty still was gasing the place up. They heard so many good things about the place so we still ate there and the food was still amazing. Especially the King crab sushi roll. We was also disappointed another time because we went there thinking that we would try this dish in the video but apparently we were too early (noon) and they don't serve this until happy hour which starts a 5pm and ends at 6pm the server explained. So I guess that's exactly what it is "a happy hour". 5/10. For the service. -The meat in water issue -server did it stop by table after taking order. - seafood tower deal only available from 5pm-6pm I'd give them another chance cus the food was so good
The food was okay.
Pricey but the ambiance is what sold me. The drinks were good and my salmon was okay but the people were everything. Single night life in Chicago is what this restaurant gives and was told that the bar has a separate menu that is better.
Staff are unbelievably rude.
Dont go here. Bouncers especially have zero class nor manners. Highly suggest you go to Lux Bar

Maple and Ash never dissapoints! My husband and I have been here four time and the service and food has always been consistently good. They play some type of house music but I didn't even notice until I watched a video I recorded of the food. Food wise, the only thing I do not recommend is the octopus. I've had it twice and both times it's been tough. The wagyu sampler is 100% worth it if you love meat, and the veal chop is perfect if you have an appetite. One and DONE!
It is ok but mostly over the top! Lamb Chops $79.00 dollars & you have to order sides separately. 4 small lamb chops! Really! You can go to LongHorn steakhouse & get the Lamb Chops & 2 sides as a meal for under $30.00 dollars.
Well Done Maple & Ash
Booked last minute reservations, couldn't get into the dining room so we booked the patio. I'm sure the dining room is amazing, but I have to say I thought the atmosphere and general vibe of the patio was perfect. Food was outstanding, service was fantastic, and everything about the experience was exactly what we hoped for. My wife and I are city people who now find ourselves in the middle of nowhere (that's North Dakota if you are wondering), and when we make it back to civilization we are always looking for great "city" experience...Maple & Ash delivered and reminded us both how much we miss the urban life.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Maple & Ash Chicago at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Maple & Ash Chicago page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* FulfilledThread16, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* FulfilledThread16 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to FulfilledThread16 for any questions Peter may have as FulfilledThread16 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* FulfilledThread16 now uses their connections at Maple & Ash Chicago to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If FulfilledThread16 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, FulfilledThread16 receives the $200 reward which is credited to FulfilledThread16's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Maple & Ash Chicago!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
