$800 for two couples (Overpriced food / mediocre service) Go elsewhere!
Visiting Marcel is like an assault on your senses. How this place got a Michelin recommendation is beyond me. Someone forgot that the temperature for hanging their meat should be different than the dining room. Make sure to bring a warm coat - you'll most certainly need it. With the ambiance of an old steakhouse, you'd expect some subdued background music but instead you are subjected to unbearable off putting jazz. If White Claw had a sound, this would be it. Not sure if they don't know how bad it is, or if it is intentional to turn the tables quicker. Either way, it's a huge fail. As a birthday dinner we went all out ordering the $200 a pop Beef Wellington. By the way, you don't just show up for this, they dictate you must order 24 hours in advance. When friends called ahead to place the order we were told we could order 1, 2 or 4. Are we ordering steak or gambling? Turns out, we gambled and odds are in favor of the house. The person on the other end of the phone provided no guidance just wanted to know which it would be. We guessed 2 but were wrong. Correct answer would have been 0, and just show up and take your chances with the regular menu. But if you must order it, 1 is fine for the table as the huge slab. How this employee didn't know that is beyond me. A big disappointment was being told there'd be a wait for our wellington despite ordering in advance. Mind you, at this point we'd ordered appetizers so they could have and should have paced our main entree- we had ordered 24 hours prior. Instead our server decided to take the opportunity to ask us to order more food in the interim. No thanks. Fifty, yes 50, minutes later we were delivered 2 RARE beef wellingtons, NOT medium as we ordered. A point of pride is that they don't cook it until you arrive so it is "the perfect temp". They present the whole finished product on the table then take it away to slice it for you. By this time, we'd lost interest in the showmanship and were just interested in tasting this $200/pop steak. One bite in and the biggest question for this underdone cut of beef was do we spit it out in our napkins or just try and get some of it down by chasing it with water? But at least the service was on point right? Nope. They try to impress you with multiple servers, but they don't communicate well with each other, so you have to repeat yourself to servers, which only makes your meal even less enjoyable. With tip for two couples we spent $800. It kind of feels like being the victim of a grift. You've just been swindled out of a chunk of money but feel too stupid to complain so you just go with it. We really leaned into it, evening staying for dessert. They only have four on the menu and our server took our order only to come back and tell us they were out of creme brulee. That's on us for trying to end our meal on sweet note.
Be the first to ReplyGreat location if you're looking for a great steak
High end restaurant if you're looking for a night to remember. Best service I ever had and we're talking over 75 restaurants visited in Atlanta. My daughter had a shrimp cocktail and she said it was okay. My girlfriend had the Oysters and wasn't to impressed. All our steaks were cooked exactly how we wanted them. The side dishes are definitely for a group of at least 5 people. Try the mushrooms. No military discount, but the guy worked off over $45 on the bill. Nice gesture. Great experience and I'd go back.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the hype! Go to Little Alley, Chops, Halโs!
Not worth the money! Unsure how this Atlanta steakhouse got its hype. Arrogant staff served chewy, flavorless, low quality steak (and we got the porterhouse for two, medium rare). GO TO LITTLE ALLEY STEAKHOUSE!!! Or Halโs or Chops where the staff treats you like theyโre happy youโre there and the quality of product supreme.

My Brother in Law took us to his restaurant Marcels for dinner tonight April 4th 2023. The service and food was excellent. All of the staff & management were very professional & friendly. I would definitely recommend Marcels to friends & family:).
Be the first to ReplyWas just OK
Visited for the first timeโฆ must say I was a bit underwhelmed by the quality of the food. Very upscale restaurant and the service was fantastic. However, for the price Iโd expect a bit higher quality steak. Also, simple things likeโฆ they will not allow you to add tomatoes to a saladโฆ even as a charge. I will say their bread service is spectacular, however for a $90 strip, Iโve had much better quality meat for less at some of the other steakhouses in Atlanta. Overall, great place however I was not as impressed as I expected given the prices.
Be the first to ReplyAll hype no substance.
This place was highly recommended to me and so I was very excited to go. It was pricey but I have no problem paying a premium for a good meal. This was not a good meal. The service was terrible. It took over 20 minutes to get our first drink. They had very few apps to choose from. The salad was over salted. My husbands steak was well done. How do you mess up a steak at a โhigh endโ steak house??? There was also very few different sides to choose from. Theyโre basically different forms of potatoes. Donโt believe the hype. Donโt waste your money.
Be the first to Replyonly very good given the price point, gluten-free no problem
My expectations were very high based on a recommendation. Interior was fine, food was good, good wine list priced normally. The staff was extremely welcoming. We had a corner booth that kept noise level fine for conversation. So you might ask why not a five rating. The service here would have been fine for a different price point. This was comparable to eating at Atlas price-wise and the service was nowhere near as polished. Small issues, but again it's what you pay for. Staff guessing (wrongly), not knowing what the fish of the day was (we shouldn't have had to ask), or guessing about whether something had gluten. Just say you don't know and will ask the chef. Not all plates delivered at the same time. Small stuff that for a more modest place would be acceptable. Also - our table was near a door and my son and husband said they kept getting cigarette smoke. My son thinks the staff were smoking near a door next to our booth. Bones similar but cheaper and better service.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic experience!
We loved Marcel and the entire staff. This is how it should be done when dinning in an upscale restaurant. The food ( Beef Wellington and Rib eye) were done so perfectly. We have dined at many upscale steakhouses and this is on the best. Caesar salad was great as well. The desserts are the star of the show. We had chocolate layer cake, baked Alaska and a peach galette. We loved the decor as well. The service and the people really make this place a true 5 star standout. Say hi to Bob when you go!
Be the first to Replywhat's the hype ?
Worst steak i have ever had in 54 years of life! My husband and myself went here for a steak dinner and choose to have the bone in rib eye dry aged was horrible, I have had better meat at a TACO stand, was horribly tough and no flavor even cooked medium rare, was noooo good, Side potatoes were awful as well, Baked Alaskan dessert cake was dry as a bone, we will never err recommend this place or ever return ,. A $218.00 dinner ripppp offfffff
Be the first to ReplyBest Steaks in ATL!!!
You go to Marcel for the steaks for sure, but the atmosphere and service take it to another level. The vibe is unique, and the steaks melt in your mouth like butter. The potatoes side dish is ridiculous, and the pre-meal bread service is simply indescribable itโs so good!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and service, sexy ambience
Had a great dinner there last night. Very nice bread and olives to start. Escargot served as was the style decades ago, in the shell. Thought that was cool and they were perfect, Then a nice salad and then the NY strip and a beautifully prepared branzino. The one negative was the only green vegetable they had was asparagus. Another choice would be nice. Finished with Baked Alaska which was presented great.
Service was excellent. I see some reviews here mention "Bob" the Maรฎtre D' - Lighten up folks. He is just a quirky and charming host. He welcomed us and then briefly stopped by later. It was nice.
Ambience is interesting and romantic. The music was great and just at the right volume.
Some mentioned the price and it is not a "bargain", but I'm from NYC so I'm used to it. At that price, however , perhaps a little after dinner drink with dessert on the house would make everyone feel good.
Not a good value
They certainly don't socially distance; it was packed everywhere except the patio. The food, while great, was overpriced. Service is good; no food presentation and slow with the courses. Only one steak entree was dry-aged. At these prices, they all should be. True ala carte. No handicap access that was visible. Bring money.
For the these prices, many Atlanta restaurants, including Atlas are so much better.
Why Haven't I Heard of This Sooner?!
Came here for our wedding anniversary because we received a gift card. Despite many trips to Ormsby's next door, we never knew this place existed.
Dark and cozy atmosphere with plenty of interesting and eclectic decor we immediately knew we were in for something good as soon as we walked in.
The staff was incredible. Some of the best wait service I've received.
We ordered the steak tartar, salad marcel, petite filet and the cote de beouf. Everything was incredible. This has to easily be in the top 3 of steakhouses in Atlanta (of which there are many).
We will be back for many more occasions.
The Best Steak ever!
Was there just before everything started to close down. The Filet Mignon was the best steak that I have ever had in my life and I have eaten at many well regarded restaurants. I am from Los Angeles so cannot go back anytime soon but I will be thinking about that steak for a long time,
Be the first to ReplyGreat atmosphere, food left much to be desired
My husband is in Atlanta for business a few times a month and a client had recommended this place to him. Upon entering we were excited by the great atmosphere and packed house (we arrived 15-20 minutes before our reservation and couldn't be seated) so we thought this meant it would be great! Let me start by saying the bread service and presentation was one of the best we've had. Unique, delicious and lots of flavors. For a free perk at a restaurant they definitely outdo themselves. The next dish that came out was the crab ravioli. I think that it lacked flavor for what we thought it was supposed to be however it was a very generous portion with tons of lump meat crab so you get your money's worth for sure. The next dish is where it all fell flat for us. Escargot is one of our favorites and this just lacked - lacked in flavor and in texture (maybe overcooked?), I wouldn't get it again. Our bone in filet was done nicely and was delicious, however nothing out of the ordinary on presentation etc. that, for us, made it not really worth the cost. There are lots of nice steakhouses to go to and for price and what we got it just wouldn't make me eager to return. Wine was good, caramels at the end were good and a nice touch. Overall it just wasn't impressive enough to pay the cost to go back.
Be the first to ReplyBest in Atlanta
The atmosphere is one thing (fantastic), the service is another (outstanding and attentive), but the food.... oh my, the food. Bring your wallet, but be prepared to get more than you pay for. Outstanding wine list as well. Perfect place to take customers or visiting executives!
Be the first to ReplyHorrible waiter
Our server was awful and here is why. He never officially greeted us so I donโt even know his name ( tall guy with a black suit jacket and braces). He never even checked on us once when we received our food. We were missing items and needed condiments for the food we did receive. My husband and I watched him serve tables around us and purposely ignore us. I feel like he sterotyped us because we were a young couple and not drinking alcohol. I believe he assumed we wouldnโt tip which is awful! It was my birthday and I just wanted to have a good time but he definitely ruined that. The manager did come by to rectify the situation but at that point I was already annoyed and ready to go. I will never return despite the food being delicious. Horrible service can ruin a meal which it did for us.
Be the first to ReplyNice Roaring twenties feel to dining room
The food is very good. Rich. Not a place to go if you are on a diet. Bar tenders are outstanding. Really know their stuff. Cuts of meat are high priced even for fine dining. Check the menu on-line before you go. Good special occasion spot. Go closer to 5 p.m. if you want a bar seat.
