MARCUS Restaurant + Lounge Montréal Reviews from The Last Year
Great restaurant!
Really good food! My family and I shared the shrimp, burrata, and tomato salad. I got the chicken, it was really good! The experience and atmosphere was really nice.
Lots of culinary progress for this magnificent, ideally located restaurant.
Congratulations to the entire Marcus team who offered us flawless service. Total success for: - fresh picadilly pasta with lobster and chili pepper. As well as the salmon tartare. -The tuna tartare was hearty, but lacked taste... -The Canadian sablefish with sesame was excellently cooked and tasty. The cupcake-style rum baba, flambéed at the table with class and the delicious maracuja sauce was delicious in the mouth.
Much too expensive for what we ate.
Much too expensive for what we ate. The octopus and filet mignon for $85 which was overcooked. The portion of dough too small. Lack of refinement in the dish and random service, people came to ask us if everything was correct when we had almost finished our plates.
Luxury dinning experience in Montreal with a exceptional team
Visited on Easter for dinner with family, we were received by the security at the door and guided to the restaurant lift. Amina, the hostess assisted us with the jackets and escorted us towards the restaurant. We were seated and introduced to the server for the evening Jarred. It was a lovely experience although the menu options could have been vast, being a high end restaurant and also that day being Easter, the service was great overall, however the time between courses could be improved. The oysters and octopus are highly recommended. Apart from the team at the restaurant, I would like to highlight Stefan from the front desk, who engaged with our daughter during short visits to the reception area during the dinner (she is super active) and established a good bond, he is a gem in the Four Seasons Montréal Team. Would recommend the restaurant for travellers seeking a luxury dinner experience in Montréal.
Overall great experience at Marcus
It was an overall wonderful experience. The lunch selection was varied, and satisfying. I ordered the chicken special and my guest had the fish, and both were delicious as were the appetizers. Service was excellent with full explanations of the dishes we were ordering as well as attention to our special likes and needs. The restaurant is bright and elegantly cheerful-perfect for a mid winter lunch!
Very beautiful restaurant
Great place for lunch. Enjoyed the seafood tower, grilled octopus, filet mignon, black cod, piccadilly and grilled salmon. Very beautiful restaurant.
Very disappointing experience
The service at Marcus Montreal was terrible, from the security to the waiters and we are regular clients. It was my friends birthday at the lounge, we had a reservation and they didn’t even let us in because they said “we’re not taking anymore people inside because we’re full” we kept on insisting that we had a reservation to let us in. We ended up talking to 2 or 3 bouncers in order to explain to them that we have a reservation, we waisted about 30 minutes and it completely destroyed our mood. The manager when he came and talked to us as well he was very impolite and we couldn’t even hear him because of the loud music. My friends and I ended spending close to 4,000$ and this was not a five star service, completely the opposite. The waitress were serving us, they weren’t refreshing our glasses as often and we ended up not even having glasses and we kept on missing water as well Last time we went to Marcus, about a month ago,the service was completely different
Terrible experience
Very bad service! I would never put my foot there again! Disgrace to four seasons. It was a special occasion and the staff couldn’t do the bare minimum.
Exceptional
Restaurant, very well located in the center, with an entrance and welcome worthy of the name, simply magnificent the dishes are magnificently presented dinner in a gourmet restaurant. We had dinner there on the evening of December 24 with family. The service was extraordinary.
The Rise and Fall of Expectations at Marcus, Montreal
Gathered in a group of six, we embarked on a culinary excursion to Marcus in Montreal, lured by the promise of a reputation of a celebrated chef. Greeted by the initially affable waiter, Nicholas, who exhibited both politeness and an informative demeanor, our expectations were met with an auspicious beginning. The meticulous touch of having our napkins deftly folded each time we rose from our seats bespoke particular attention to detail, setting a standard that, unfortunately, the subsequent courses failed to uphold. The appetizers, while possessing a modicum of satisfaction, failed to transcend mediocrity. The tomato and watermelon salad, burrata, oysters, seafood tower, and toasted sourdough with butter comprised a selection that, though passable, lacked the finesse one would anticipate. The main course, regrettably, marked the nadir of our gastronomic journey. Orders of two Grilled Salmon and two Black Cod arrived in a state of unpalatable chilliness, necessitating their return to the kitchen. The latter, in particular, exhibited an egregious undercooking, rendering it nearly inedible. The four orders of truffle fries, intended to complement the meal, oscillated inconsistently between piping hot and disappointingly cold, revealing a lack of kitchen consistency. The Roasted Cauliflower, while fair in taste failed to salvage the overall dissatisfaction that permeated our dining experience. Our collective anticipation for a resplendent conclusion was further thwarted by the selection of desserts, which exhibited a regrettable indifference like the rest of the meal. Compounding our disillusionment was the inexcusable lapse in service. Our repeated pleas for piping hot Cappuccinos were met with disregard, and the eventual tepid serving was justified with a dubious explanation about potential milk scalding. By this point, the once-attentive Nicholas had regrettably devolved into an indifferent demeanor, leaving our party to navigate the remainder of the evening without the semblance of the service expected from a dining establishment of this caliber. The overall experience at Marcus culminated in a palpable sense of disappointment. For a dining affair branded by a celebrity chef, the exorbitant cost proved unjustifiable against an unsatisfying repast. A lingering sense of letdown regrettably supplanted our anticipated gastronomic delight.
