Mariel Boston Reviews from The Last Year
Mariel aesthetically is one of the best places to eat it is
Mariel aesthetically is one of the best places to eat it is gorgeous inside and everything is served very beautifully. The service was decent our food came out quickly and she was attentive. The food was decent as well the servings here are small so you will need to order multiple plates to leave full. The pizza wasn't anything that wowed me but it was decent, the avocado con mojo tasted very fresh and had a lot of flavor which I really enjoyed. Fufu gnocchi was also very delicious. I ordered the Celia drink it wasn't my favorite because it tasted too spicy ( my personal preference). Overall Mariel is a good experience and I would come back.

Unfortunately Mariel underground was not the experience my friends and I were hoping for. We only came for the club, so maybe the restaurant is a better experience. The strobe lights were incredibly intense the minute you walked in, and as somebody with sensory difficulties I was frustrated that there was no warning about the strobe lights before paying for a ticket. Unless you buy a table (for $1000+) there is no room to dance or mingle, my friends and I were stuck in a corner awkwardly. This was not a place for a casual, fun night out.
Disappointing special occasion
My husband and I booked an early dinner at Mariels as a special treat for our anniversary. We had been there before for brunch and had been very impressed with the food, restaurant decor, and service. Not so last Saturday night, where we were made to wait for 25 minutes while they attempted to end an afternoon event. When we were finally seated the dining room had not been set up properly or cleaned. It was very loud and people were still milling around after the previous event. We had someone literally sweeting a broom around our feet as we sat and attempted to enjoy our evening. The food was generally good, but small and rather overpriced, and the server at one point tried to remove my husband's plate before he had finished eating. Overall not the best dining experience or the best anniversary meal we’ve ever had!
I came here with a girlfriend the other night.
I made a reservation for 8:30 because we wanted to stay for drinks after dinner. When I came in there was a coat check which is always nice. Even though we had a reservation for 8:30 they didn't seat us till 9 which was a bit frustrating. However once we were seated they promptly took our drink order. I had 4 different drinks here all of which were outstanding. Definitely the highlight of the night. We ordered a few small and medium plates. The best dishes were the chicken rots and the plantain gnocchi. The crab dish was also really good. I think the guac and empanadas were good but nothing to write home about. The ambiance inside is very up beat, as the night goes on the place turns more into a bar with the club downstairs so it's a perfect place for a girls night out.

The worst customer service, overpriced, charged me on a card for no show, did not refund my money. Do not go.

On a recent trip to Boston, a friend of mine took me to Mariel. The ambiance is nice and has a Spanish flair to it. It was around 6:30 on a Wednesday night. The place seems to be a place where people go to be seen. We had a reservation and were seated right away. It was quite busy for a week night. The wait staff was attentive and nice. All the dishes we had were fabulous. I recommend the scallops and the shrimp. The mojito was strong and made well. The desserts were okay. Stick with the food and drinks. I would definitely go again.

Wonderful experience! Randy our waiter was amazing -- I have a gluten allergy and he was so knowledgeable and we had an incredible time! Ambiance was top notch. Will definitely come back. Yummy food!
The interior of this restaurant is beautiful.
I went here in the summer with a party of six and ordered the pitcher cocktail with the flames on top. It was great for a girls night experience. I only docked a star because the bouncers were very rude and made it difficult for us to join our reserved table.
Loved the food, service and vibe at Mariel.
Great place to celebrate all types of occasions! Sincerely, Elvin R.
First time at Mariel's.
Amazing experience! Like the previous review - The vibe, atmosphere, service, and food 10/10, even on a packed friday night. This will be the go-to spot in Boston. We will return with friends.
Birthday family meal
Fabulous location, modern and sophisticated inside. Great atmosphere and lovely staff. The food was superb. We started with the the sharing fondue, piping hot and so tasty with lots of fresh veg, meats, and bread to dip The small plates were excellent, my favourite was the crispy lamb ribs. Our daughter in law whose birthday it was had the hot chocolate for dessert! Amazingly prepared and tasted delicious! Will definitely return
Vibe, atmosphere, service, and food 10/10.
For dinner we ordered the yuca cheese puffs, hamachi crudo, pork empanadas, fufú dumplings (plantain dumplings), lobster pizza, corn and crab arepitas, and the steak churrasco. All the food is tapas-style, so smaller portions and you can order quite a few to sample! The yuca cheese puffs and the fufú gnocchi were by far my favorite dishes, but everything was very tasty. These 2 were unique flavor combinations I haven't had before, and it all just worked! I really enjoyed all of the tapas. I came early on a Monday night and sat at a high top near the front bar. Despite the restaurant being packed, service was friendly, was on top of checking in with our table, and our food came out fast. Did not see this "club" vibe everyone talks about (think that may be later in the evening), but it was still lively and fun. I will definitely be back!
Cuisine did not match the design
We visited Mariel for lunch on a weekday. The restaurant is beautiful with a very cool design and super high ceilings. The apps of cheese puffs, empanadas and key lime calamari were great, better than the entrees. The table ordered the Cubano, blackened fish sandwich, rice bowl and brisket burger. All were OK, sandwiches served with homemade potato chips. Service started strong but got real slow. Would think twice about returning.
Top marks
What wonderful dishes! We thoroughly enjoyed everything we tasted. It’s definitely a place for a splurge special dinner, but it’s so worth it. (The cocktail list is also truly impressive and the fruit is fresh, and they will make them alcohol free. I don’t think anyone could be disappointed here) Also shoutout to our server, Randy, who was super attentive and personable. Added to that, we got the wrong dessert served to us, but without skipping a beat, he gave it to us on the house and we still got the correct dessert we ordered after. Extra special treat!
Birthday dinner 5 stars
Amazing experience! The place gives you that club vibe. I was extremely surprised. The service was great. And let's talk about food and drinks. The drinks were great. My favorite was the Vaca Fritta OMG!!!
Absolute must try tapas in a boring section of city, glad its here
What a blast from the past this place was since I was literally walking into the office building I previously had worked at back in 2001/2002 and now its transformed into this? This place took over the left half of 10 Post Office Square office building to turn the place into a Cuban decked out fantasy. I mean the inside of this place will blow you away. One thing, you must, must make a reservation for this place. I mean we were here on a Tuesday and the place was packed to the brim. When you walk into this place, the decor and the bar, and the walls will blow you away, floor to ceiling Havana decor, walls, art, lights, absolutely impressive. The menu here is tapas and a collection of Cuban cocktails complete with various Mojitos and other concoctions. The food is delicious and you have to order at least 6-8 dishes for your party to share, lots of small bites, creative cheese baked dishes, pizza, chicken cubes which were interesting, chips, guacamole and other Cuban delicacies. Service is fast, friendly and prompt and completed the meal. What a treat this place is and nice refreshing spot for this boring downtown section.

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
