Insane collection of fabulous menu items.
And yes, it's incredibly expensive. Wife and I went in for her birthday dinner and spent a ton of money for really great service, exceptional sushi, and fabulous cocktails. It's a very cool space, definitely a place to be seen, and has a gigantic menu filled with anything you could ever want. With a couple of glasses of Japanese whisky in hand we perused the menu and landed on a we'll-need-to-waddle-out-of-here amount of food. A few pieces of sashimi, a few pieces of nigiri, multiple appetizers, basically anything the waiter suggested and whatever we'd seen on social media and all of that. And there wasn't a single thing we would've changed. We loved it all. I'm not even bothering to list out all the specific things we had, because it basically doesn't matter. It's all excellently prepared from top shelf ingredients and its wonderful. It's just...very expensive, and that's life sometimes. But you get what you pay for.

Service incredible! Noise level was high, otherwise a lovely meal. Will be back
Be the first to ReplyMatsuhisa came highly recommended from a couple of friends
Matsuhisa came highly recommended from a couple of friends in Denver...and for very good reason. Food, drinks, ambience, and service all merit the full five stars (surprising for a sushi place that's nowhere near fresh or salt water, I might add...) I arrived early and was delighted to have a cocktail and a chat with the server, who, as it turns out, was from my home town. When my guest arrived, we enjoyed the spicy tuna with crispy rice and the rock shrimp tempura as apps -- two classics that came highly recommended by the gentleman taking care of our table. For the nigiri, we asked him to bring us what he thought was good. We're both adventurous eaters and didn't want to go the cliche maki route...and we made the right choice. Wish I could remember precisely our order...but it was all different than what one would typically have at the local sushi joint...The key, as in any good sushi restaurant imho, is to rely upon the team to tell you what's good that night. Absolutely fully priced...and absolutely worth it.

Very fancy sushi place in cherry creek Prices didn't seem super outrageous tho, kind of seemed average. Rolls under $20 I think We asked for a chefs special We got 3 nigiri (2 each) which all tasted normal, salmon, tuna, and yellowtail Shrimp tempura roll was pretty good Teradito roll was very delicious, I loved the sauce I got the lychee limeade which was tasty. I had them put some grenadine in the second one and it was even better Friend got 3 alcoholic drinks, total was $150 before tax and tip Overall alright
Be the first to ReplyGreat food.
Outstanding service. Great ambience. Best bartenders in cherry creek. Creative dishes that aren't all caked down with sugar and mayonnaise sauce like other sushi/japanese restaurants.

My husband and I have been traveling around Colorado lately trying to find good Japanese food. A friend of ours told us to go here because it would be great service, and a nice experience. The limited options weren't really the best option to me, but overall I'd come here again. Loving the Denver Japanese food scene!

The food at Matsuhisa was fabulous!!! We were here for our friend's birthday and we loved it. It was really cool to try a variety of different foods. We were eating so quick I barely got any pictures! The service was amazing and our waiter was super helpful and friendly. The ambiance at the restaurant was really chill and nice, it felt fancy but not overly stuffy. Can't wait to go back!

There's great food and great service but the prices are ridiculous for the portion size. Hard to validate "can't wait to be back!" when you're spending over $150 a person and leaving hungry.
Be the first to ReplyFood was good, not incredible.
Some dishes were fresh, while others did not taste quite as fresh. The hamachi was very typical, but had a fishy taste at the end. The spicy tuna with crispy rice is a fun dish that I highly recommend. All the other food items we tried were good. They had some off menu items such as the sea bass with truffle I would highly recommend. The servers have great recommendations as well. I was more impressed with the service we received. The servers are so amazing and very knowledgeable on all the menu items. It was a great experience overall. The atmosphere inside is lovely and spacious. They have a full bar available. There is valet parking available as well. Overall, good for a date night or to celebrate something special.
Be the first to ReplyThe ambience in here was so nice.
It was dimly lit and intimate. I'm glad the receipts at the sushi bar because I loved watching them work. We got a few tapas plates to share and I'm glad we did because we got to try all different things. I can't wait to come back and try even more! Our server was very helpful and attentive. I'd like to come back for drinks as well, as they all looked wonderfully crafted
Be the first to ReplyMatsuhisa is as good and almost exactly like Nobu.
While it's pricey, it's delicious and I never regret going there. This location is near a wealthy shopping area, and it's a nice treat after a long day of walking around Denver. I went at 5pm because I had early evening plans. The restaurant was dead at 5pm so the service was quick. I didn't love the service that I had, hence the four stars, but the experience was still good. I felt that the server I had was not happy I was a solo diner (usually this equates to less money spent), but that also could've just been his style of service. Things I loved: - Toro with Caviar - Snow Crab Nigiri - Wagyu Nigiri - Crab Handroll - Chocolate Habanero Mochi
Be the first to ReplyI gave two stars bc my wine was good, but that's about it.
Ordered 3 sushi rolls and they were terrible. They were literally just rice and the fish...nothing else. Am I missing something?! Never use soy sauce but I had to, for some sort of flavor. People raved about this place and it was not good. Our server also acted like he'd rather be anywhere else but there. He didn't give us any menu insight or suggestions and acted annoyed by just our presence. I also asked not to be sat at a community table bc I can't hear well, and of course they sat us at a community table. Save your money and go to any other sushi restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyIt'll cost you an arm and a leg, but Matsuhisa is good.
Portions are small and you're going to probably leave the restaurant still hungry or having paid the equivalent of a car down payment for your meal. However, everything is solid and I can't fault them for high prices. After all, to have seafood this fresh and to be nowhere near water is a miracle in itself. Definitely get a mix of things -- nigiri, maki, sashimi, salads, fried dishes, grilled, etc. to have the best experience.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service but didn't move the food.
There is better sushi in Denver. The service and atmosphere were great tho.

Although pricey, it was well worth it! We tried lots of different things for my birthday and I loved everything. The chef even made dessert sushi which was very cute and creative. The service and ambiance were top notch. This is a perfect spot for a special occasion or night out!
Be the first to ReplyWe went to Matsuisha for an early Valentine's
We went to Matsuisha for an early Valentine's Day/Anniversary dinner and had an awesome time! The vibe was very modern yet still intimate. Service was good and the food was timed perfectly. We tried three of the Matsuisha/Nobu specialties: spicy tuna crispy rice, black miso cod, and yellowtail jalapeรฑo. The spicy tuna crispy rice had a one of a kind texture with the cold tuna and warm fried rice squares. The yellowtail was extremely fresh but I personally would have preferred more heat. The black miso cod is really a one of a kind bite full of umami and you MUST try it. The sushi combo plate and Wagyu tacos were tasty but nothing to write home about. The salmon sashimi was delicious and had a nice green onion flavor. Our drinks were fantastic! I had a lychee martini which was perfectly sweet and cold. We also had some Japanese whiskey and cold sake-- both impressing us with how smooth they were. The only reason Matsuisha isn't getting 5 stars was because the atmosphere and service reflected a more casual experience, but the menu prices communicated a very upscale experience. This might be because Denver itself is very casual, but this dichotomy is something to consider before checking it out.
Be the first to ReplyAlright, I really don't like to leave bad reviews but this
Alright, I really don't like to leave bad reviews but this place deserves it. The quality of the food here is the worst I've had in awhile. As I was eating it I could tell it was going to make me sick, unfortunately I was right and next day I was puking all day. The service was incredible though. I ordered the $15 per piece nigiri of Waygu and it tasted like salty cold chewy meat the picked off the floor. Would honestly never come here again. For a $300 tab not worth it at all.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing experience! Food was incredible, highly recommend
Amazing experience! Food was incredible, highly recommend spicy tuna with crispy rice and you can't go wrong with any sashimi/sushi rolls. Service was impeccable, very friendly and knowledgeable about menu. Can't wait to go back! 10/10
Be the first to ReplyVery excellent service.
Servers know the menu and are helpful. Food is awesome and is delivered to the table quickly. Beautiful room and cocktails very inventive and delicious. Valet Parking $7.
Be the first to ReplyIf you're reading this you probably know that this is one
If you're reading this you probably know that this is one of two spots to be considered the best sushi in Denver along with sushi den. While I have been to both I prefer Matsuhisa. Sushi Den dropped a major ball on me the first visit and didn't redeem themselves the next. I'm sure I'll give them one last try some day. I cannot say M fully met my expectations on a $500 tab for two, though it was still very delicious and enjoyable. The service was slightly lacking and very average for this level of environment. The atmosphere is luxurious, and all else should reflect this. I could pass on the starters we tried. The sake selection was great, we got a honestly modest $100 bottle and enjoyed it. Dessert was delicious. The actual sashimi and nigiri were flawless. The cuts of fish are expertly, and I mean expertly selected. Art! Nothing can however touch Mizumi in Vegas, and this is the standard to which I hold all Japanese establishments to. Maybe that's unfair but there's no going back.

This made for a lovely date night! Would I go back? Probably not. The reviews that critiqued the service were fairly accurate. Service was very dry and unwelcoming. The scallop foi Gras was $24 for 1 bite? Hot sake was $30? I get that quality sushi isn't cheap but that's a reach! The food was delish nonetheless and the atmosphere was lovely. Menu needs better descriptions and service needs more consistency. The table next to us had what sounded like a great server so morr of that
