Absolute Delight
This restaurant is only half a mile away from my place so I have been there a few times. This trip was for lunch. The food and service were amazing and the place was quite busy, given a snow day. Reservations were relatively easy to get on Open Table. Abby was the server who did an excellent job and the supporting staff was on the ball as well. There was little wait time once we placed the order.
Be the first to ReplyI make a point to visit any time I come to Vancouver! The food and service is always outstanding! Thanks
The food is beautifully presented and the ingredients are fresh and unique. Stephan and the waiter at the bar both take pride in their work and made great suggestions.
Be the first to ReplyI love sushi and Minami is a good place!!
Vancouver is known for its excellent sushi /Japanese restaurants and so far I agree and have not been disappointed. We decided on the spur to visit Minami and we did not have a booking but it was late Saturday afternoon and the restaurant accommodated us and we sat in their outdoor patio at the rear. I think the restaurant could spruce up the patio a little bit to give it a more classy vibe. One of the dishes that I still remember were the ebi / prawn fritters and oh my they were delightful!! These were tiger prawns with harissa aioli with a chilli lime vinaigrette... yummy! We also ordered an eggplant dish which was good and then some sushi including aburi oshi sushi (the sampler set) all of this was yummy. The dish which stood out for my husband was the miso sablefish which was so succulent and melted in your mouth. We were stuffed and sadly no room for dessert but I would like to go back and try the manjari chocolate chestnut fondant.
Be the first to ReplyAburi is the best!
We found this place last year as a dinner spot before going to the theatre and it's excellent. We love Miku in Vancouver and this is the same owner. The staff is great, the location is across the street from the theatres and good is always perfect. Ebi aburi is incredible.
Be the first to ReplyRead good things about this restaurant. Innovative sushi restaurant in Yaletown had a good part of the menu.
Good items on the menu but not a five star in our opinion. Really good ideas and food combinations and service was spot on suggesting when desired
Be the first to ReplyGood food, not great service
We went here expecting a great experience, based on other reviews. The food was good but not stellar. The servers were inattentive, as they are probably overwhelmed (true for so many restaurants post-COVID). My sashimi plate arrived 10 minutes before my son's sushi plate. I waited for his to arrive and my sashimi was no longer cold by the time I ate it. The Aburi Oshi was delicious and very pretty. I had asked in advance for a quiet table but we were seated at a very noisy table near the bar. Eventually, we were re-seated outside. The restaurant is good expensive for the quality of dining.
Be the first to ReplyNot inclusive at all
I went with all my family, we were 8 and all of us were planning to consume food and drinks. My sister has a health condition and she needs to eat a very strict diet. She wasnโt allowed to eat her own food (she brought and prepare for herself). The manager was not comprehensive and rude about it. I do not recommend it at all for the simple fact that it is not an inclusive restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely Happy during "Happy Hour"
We had been told about this restaurant as having some of the best sushi in the city. We were in Vancouver only for the day and was told about "Happy Hour" where portions were smaller, but cheaper (3-5pm). Where as a full roll could be 8 pieces for 18, a half roll of 4 pieces would be just 7. Aburi sampler is just one piece of each fish (3 in total) but this allowed us to try almost everything on the menu without being stuffed or spending a lot. Dessert, Green Tea Opera, was half the size, but also half the price. We could then try the home made ice cream as well. The best way to eat...and it wasn't an incredibly busy time if you came early. Reservations recommended.
Be the first to ReplyWe got sick after we ate here!
Two weeks ago, me and my hubby visited on Sat for lunch. I had a premium nigiri set and hubby had a Nanban Chicken(pan fried chicken with green papaya salad) and a roll(which had imitated crab meat and tuna sashimi on top). Service was great. But as soon as we tasted the food, we did not feel good. Long story short, we had to run home after we got out the restaurant. Thank God, we have two bathrooms! 90 dollars down the drain. How can you call those food for high end when you get sick instantly! Very appalled indeed!

Never again! and no, I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Top Notch Restaurant
The 4 of us came here for the Dineout Vancouver - 3 course dinner. Thereโs just one menu selection for either lunch or dinner so if youโre not a meat eater, youโll need to select something else on the menu.
The special was a screaming good deal and was delish! You started off 8 pieces of assorted sushi which looked like pieces of art. The entree was pieces of AAA sirloin cooked to perfection unless you like your meat cooked a little longer. They were a bit skimpy on the veggies - 1 piece of sliced carrot and 2 pieces of broccolini with a smudge of mashed potato. For dessert, we had the matcha sesame mousse which was heavenly.
Tip: if you want to take advantage of the Dineout Vancouver lunch special, they offer the special price for either dine in or takeout. We had an early seating which we were able to order from the Happy Hour menu (3 to 5 pm). Thereโs a great selection of appies, Aburi Osho sushi, drinks, & desserts. We tried the champagne roll (Hokkaido scallops and sockeye salmon roll), Brussel sprouts chips, Ebi fritters. All delish!
Parking in Yaletown can be a challenge but this place was worth going to. Itโs one of the high end restaurants for sushi.
YUM! Delivered
Yaletown Bento, ordered through Uber Eats. The perfect meal. Order this. Perfectly balanced, a bit of a lot of flavours and delights.
Be the first to ReplyAlways fabulous
Fabulous as always. The abiding sushi is excellent and all small plates are great. Service is prompt. A great โgo-toโ place in Yaletown.
Be the first to ReplyHype justified? Maybe, depending on your taste.
We had a really nice meal but I would say the hype about the restaurant might be a bit too exaggerated. It is definitely a nice place with solid menu and some delicious dishes (Red Wave Roll, Champagne Roll, Miso Sablefish and the Sweet Corn Mousse are great examples) but I would not say this is a โI cannot wait to get backโ place. All dishes we tried were tasty but I would describe as understating or subdued or subtle. Nothing wrong with it as we enjoyed the dinner. The Sweet Corn Mousse was my absolute favourite.
Be the first to ReplyFavourite Japanese Restaurant for Special Occasions
My favourite Japanese resataurant in Vancouver for special occasions and birthdays. Also great takeaway, bento boxes (Yaletown Sushi Bento), and attention to detail. Green Tea Opera cake is delicious!
Be the first to ReplyMy favourite restaurant in Yaletown
The service and the outdoor hidden patio are second-to-none. The menu is dynamic and very creative, with great attention to detail.
Be the first to ReplyIโll come back for sure
I never had better sushis! Every sushi have been think, the combination of the tastes and texture are perfect! We also took the beef carpaccio that was amazing and some spicy edamame, I strongly recommended
Be the first to ReplyIf you never tried aburi this
If you never tried aburi this is a must... I came here. For dine out Vancouver 2021 lunch time ($45) it was really good. I order the champagne roll and premium sushi lunch. I was able to taste every single sushi they make. They charge 3$ for house tea. Overall the taste was great. Hokkaido Scallops very sweet. The fusion of mixing flavours was like Disney Ratatouille where it just wow you when inside your mouth. Iโll be back to try their dinner set menu.
Be the first to ReplyPretty good
Food: good. We got the oshi plate with assorted aburi oshi sushi and the ebi fritters. Both good, both sort of small - definitely a better place if you're not super hungry, or you just want something small, or you want to try a bit of everything.
Service: Average. Our server was pretty nice, knowledgable about the menu, and recommended a good drink, and was great.
Vibe: nice mood lighting, tables were socially distanced, plastic dividers in some places, still had a high-end feel where you remember you're in yaletown, but not overly stiff or snobby.
Overall: I probably wouldn't come back unless someone invited me. Everything was good; and I definitely think the quality here is better than a lot of other sushi restaurants, but on the occasions where I crave sushi, it wouldn't be on my go-to list. If someone asked me to take them to Minami, I would suggest Miku instead.
