From the food to the service to the ambiance, this place is incredible. Our server was so nice and accommodating to our very large party. Everything is made in-house from scratch. The green salsa and chicken fajitas, complete with homemade tortillas, were amazing. I can't wait to go back.

Steak was excellent. If you don't want to be rushed out the door with fork in hand, don't make a reservation after 8pm. The staff are ready to be gone and quickly. We were still working on our entree when our bill was served (and by served, I mean the server stood there with handheld credit card processor asking us for payment as my date was still holding his fork). It ruined our celebration, and our evening. You try for it not to, but when you save up to go out, and then you're treated like an annoyance, it's tough to get past that.

Nice atmosphere. Not worth the price though!! Mid-afternoon meal shared with one drink for 80$.

We always have an amazing time at Minero! The food has always been fresh, and one of my favorites are the wings- those are to die for. They have an amazing happy hour with very kind servers and management. Tons of TVs to catch a game, and a beautiful outdoor area.

Minero has the honor of taking the top spot as the most overpriced Mexican food in the Charleston area. The salsa is overpowered by sugar. The queso leaves much to be desired (including the chorizo that was ordered but not included). The proteins are lacking in flavor despite bits of chicken skins being thrown into the tacos and quesadillas. My recommendation is to skip the disappointment and hit up a "basic" Mexican restaurant.

Nothing special period I can not make 85 characters for a place that did not give me a good meal. It was about Taco Bell with drinks. There you go.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants before it was closed down during the pandemic. Best churros and Mexican chocolate I ever had.

This place is awesome! We go here 2 or 3 times during the month we spend on the island. If you like Mexican food, this is the place! The food and the sauces are out of this world. They have a chicken wing appetizer that is incredible. All the food is five star. Service and drinks are always great! Go here! You will love Minero!!!
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic Mexican delights.
Food was super good, steak burrito and fajitas were severed hot and quickly. Chips and salsa were a different but tasty blend. Service was quick, drinks cold and outside patio was the perfect temperature for a winter evening.
Be the first to ReplyI have visited this restaurant several times.
Quality of food and customer service is very good. Everything tastes fresh and organic. I gave 4 stars bc while their margaritas are very good the glass is always filled to the top with Ice. They only offer one size glass and not the traditional 20 oz found at most Mexican restaurants. We like coming here but visit other Mexican restaurants often that don't skimp on the margaritas.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is a complete rip off.
The drinks are so overpriced. 20 for top shelf margarita. It blew me away when I saw my bill for two drinks. Johns Island is not that fancy. The service is good. The restaurant is nice but way overpriced.
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant is sad.
The atmosphere in the dining room is dismal. We sat outside in cafeteria colored chairs. The outside had potential. Happy hour is the only reason to visit. I had the shrimp taco and cauliflower taco. My husband had the steak burrito. All dishes not worth writing about. Prices seem to match up with portions but flavor and dishes are disappointing. They need to do better.

It's such a cool location on Johns Island! It's perfect for date night, or just Taco Tuesday! The margaritas are amazing and refreshing . You must get the queso dip to start, limit menu, however it's covers all the basis... Great lunch specials at a good value. Would for sure come back!

Love how they redid this place from what the previous restaurant was (Fat Hen). Big open space out back with lots of open windows and seating along with TVs. The bar area is cozy and where we usually end up. Their margaritas are incredible and if you go during happy hour they're such a steal! The bartenders and servers are always so friendly and certainly elevate the experience. All the food we've had there has been incredible and super fresh. We didn't love the salsa trio... a bit weird for what it is and wish they just had regular salsa (I believe they've added that recently). And there are no salt or pepper shakers anywhere in the restaurant which is a bit weird. But other than that we always enjoy the food and drinks here.Plenty of parking. Definitely gets busy on the weekends. Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyGood place on Maybank with a big patio.
Get the chips and queso or the quesadillas. The service was excellent. The red wine was also tasty! I look forward to my next visit! The menu had many great options.
Be the first to ReplyCasual Mexican food in a great, well decorated space.
We had a resy which put us in the main dining room, but next time we'll ask to sit on the big porch dining area as it's brighter and just looks more fun.Our visit started a little weird. We had already picked an appetizer when our server came over, so when she offered guacamole and I said what we wanted, it seems she thought that meant no chips, which we later had to ask for. The chips are really good, so we were happy to get them after our tiny appetizer because we were starving. We had the oysters to start. They came with a spicy, slightly cheesy sauce and were quite tasty. Only problem is they were tiny and you only get 6. Definitely not local oysters, which would have been great since our locals are big, salty and have room for more filling. The plate was $19, so we expected more. I wish I'd have taken a photo, but again, we were starving.Main entrees were much better and quite filling. My husband had a steak burrito which was about the size of my head. He enjoyed it, but said the steak was a little dry. I had beef enchiladas and loved it. I saw someone said the roja sauce was a salty bomb, but I didn't think that at all. I really loved it. Rich, delicious and just perfect with the enchiladas. You can't beat house made corn tortillas either. They came with refried beans and rice. Beans had a hint of lime and were topped with a little cheese, and the rice was a mild yellow rice which balanced the richness of the Roja sauce.I enjoyed a Paloma which was the perfect blend of tequila, grapefruit and lime. Not too strong, but not a weak drink either. Overall we enjoyed it and will go back to try some other goodies!

I wanted to try something new so we got a couple Minero Ashtrays I got the taco plate with shrimp (it's an extra dollar) and chicken and then I had to try the steak taco (it's an extra dollar). Out of the three honestly the shrimp was the best. Can't wait to come back to try something else!

Echoing some earlier reviews, great space, cool vibe and wonderful service but just average food. We visited not long after it opened and sort of gave it a pass since it was new. Food was average on that visit and seems nothing much has changed several months later. As noted, the space is awesome. Wonderful all season porch/deck/bar and very nice inside seating. Bright and airy and clean. Very good service, our waitperson was attentive (we did go super early and not busy at all but still, they were great!) The chips and guacamole were the best thing we had by far. As to entrees it went downhill fairly steeply. I had the chicken baked enchiladas. Not sure how to describe the sauce aside from "chili salt bomb" and spices just off and overdone. My wife had fish tacos, one fried catfish, one grilled fish. Of the two the fried was better. The grilled fish was cool, not at all warm, sort of oddly moist (like it had been plucked off a heating tray) and again the spices didn't work. My son had steak tacos and his review was pretty much "meh." The meat was dry and overcooked. We really want this place to work, but as a comparison it is nowhere near as good as something like BarTaco (not sure where they are in the world, we have one in our hometown in NC). And in terms of value for money you would be better off with the basic "cheap Mexican" fair that can be found in many locations. We are in the area regularly and this may go out of the dining rotation for us sadly. Hoping they can improve the food and take advantage of a great spot between Charleston and Kiawah.
Be the first to Reply5 Stars for the quesadillas.
Very crispy on the outside with lots of chicken, creamy cheese and tortilla chips inside to give it a crunch. It was a healthy portion as well. We substituted breast meat for the thigh meat at a $1.50 up charge and it's worth it. Our server and bartender was Bradley. He was engaging, attentive, sincerely friendly. Overall a great night. I highly recommend the quesadillas; the best I've had anywhere!
Be the first to ReplyVery small menu, and expensive for Mexican cuisine.
I ordered the steak, which did not have the best flavor. It almost tasted like pot roast, and it was not made to order. Did not even ask how I wanted the steak cooked, so that says something about it. Not my favorite
Be the first to ReplyDelicious, consistent and fresh ingredients.
Can't ask for more. Will be back for sure.

Had a very pleasant dinner here with some friends a few nights ago. The burrito bowl was one of the most delicious I have ever had as were all the sauces in the sauce trio. Jan was very welcoming, attentive, timely, and honest and we really appreciated her great recommendations when it came to matching portion sizes to our appetites. She even went above and beyond to split a complicated bill for us. Overall great night out with friends at Minero's!
