I went to the restaurant with a group of professional
I went to the restaurant with a group of professional latina women to eat small plates and have some wine. The server was rushing us all the time. Not sure why, because the restaurant was completely empty. She asked if were going to order something else, we said we wanted to eat small plates since we had brunch earlier. She came back and started taking our plates and utensils away and we were not done eating. We told her to please bring utensils back so we can finish. She brought utensils back and the check. The check included 20% gratuity so I guess she didn't feel the need to be nice to us. We were speaking Spanish so maybe they didn't like that. We felt discriminated against at this restaurant. I wouldn't recommend this place to any of my friends or coworkers.

Good food, but overpriced, not the best, and has some serious customer service issues. We live nearby and come all the time. Their menu is limited but has some good options. If coming for dinner, I highly recommend their moules frites or steak frites. If coming for brunch, you can't go wrong with the pancakes (with a side of bacon) or fried chicken sandwich. It's all delicious, albeit overpriced. There have been a few customer service issues. Worst was when we had a dinner reservation and they called us, only a few days before the reservation, to tell us we can't come because they rented out the restaurant. They were not at all apologetic and were actually pretty rude about it until I mentioned we had family coming from out of town and did NOT want a reservation the next day. They should have given more notice (because getting a reservation somewhere else mere days before can be a pain) or honored their reservation (even with the rest of the place booked). Another time, when we told the waiter we didn't want to drink any alcohol and just wanted two burgers (which is okay but nothing special - the Diner down the street does a much better one), he was extremely rude. Just really nasty to us because we weren't spending enough money. Overall, the food is good but you can get better versions of everything on their menu at many other places, so it's not worth the high cost. They are pretentious and have customer service issues. We will come back while we live in the neighborhood, but once we move to another part of town I seriously doubt we'll ever eat here again.

I continue to highly recommend mintwood place for brunch! Excellent for groups. Flawless service and the waitress even split our bills 7 ways. Everyone liked their food. The pink bubbles is the best cocktail!
Be the first to ReplyWe went during Restaurant Week during which three courses
We went during Restaurant Week during which three courses are offered for $40. The food was overall okay but nothing particularly great. For appetizers we had the pork terrine which was rather fatty and not the type that we like. We also had grilled asparagus. The chef had dumped a large quantity of hollandaise sauce on the asparagus which was unnecessary and not visually pleasing; however the sauce was good. Presentation is important and that was ignored here. For main courses my wife had roasted half chicken which was very good although the bed of greens was overloaded with dressing and my pork would have been excellent had it been cooked the way I asked it to be. I asked for medium and it came in closer to well. Both desserts were disappointing. My wife had the chocolate dessert that was supposed to be inspired by smores. The graham cracker was just a lump of dough and somewhat dry while the chocolate was pretty good. My coconut anise cake was tiny and tasted of neither coconut nor anise so that was rather disappointing. We have had much better meals in the past so we fear that the quality at Mintwood is declining. Finally, service was incredibly slow. We were there for two full hours where normally we are in and out in about 1 hour. It was not overly busy so something else must have been going on.
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely cute spot with indoor and outdoor dining.
3 stars with potential for more, but I only had a chance to try this watermelon beet ricotta dish. It was lovely, light, and refreshing - perfect for and hot and humid DC day.
Be the first to ReplySolid spot! My go to in the area.
Never disappoints. Delicious modern bistro. Great vibe and service. Totally fair prices and great for any occasion.

Always a top choice for us when in DC, but haven't been in a while and my wife and I were very impressed (again) with the food and service. Started with the Tuna Tartare and Housemade Ricotta. Both excellent. The ricotta included a strawberry mustarda that used not overly ripe strawberries so had just a hint of sweetness. We had the Wood Roasted Dorade with a swordfish mouse (menu item) and Pork Ragout w/Pappardelle Pasta (special) for entrees. Both well prepared and presented. Lots of flavor and delicious. A Chocolate Tart and Raspberry Mousse to close out the dinner. Yum!Go sit outside on a nice evening and watch the folks from Adams Morgan stroll by. A great neighborhood restaurant!
Be the first to ReplyI love this restaurant.
We've even selected it for our anniversary dinner. However, last night, it was odd. We were told before we were even seated, "there's an hour and a half limit on each table" ... ummm okay. Here's hoping the service is that good. Next, out waiter didn't really seem like he wanted to serve us. Just seemed irritated. It was hard to decide what to eat. The three of us shared delicious appetizers, but when my half roasted chicken arrived... Other tables were even looking at my plate. What in the world was this chef thinking? I LOVE a half roasted chicken. And this one tasted good. But I had to rip meat off this arm with claws and all and get it out of my sight. So off putting. I couldn't finish the meal. Just WRONG! Not sure if I'll risk it again, Mintwood Place.

I've gone to Mintwood plenty of times for Brunch and have come away impressed. The fried chicken sandwich in particular is great. I was very disappointed when I went for dinner though. The Pork Porterhouse was a huge let down on other hand. I could barely cut it it was so tough and the taste was bland at best. The desserts were even worse. The chocolate tart tasted like it was placed on an ash tray for some reason. I'm not picky at all when it comes to desserts so trust me when I say it's bad. The Prix Fixe menu was 60 a person after tax and tip (45 before) and was a big waste of money in my opinion. If I ever go back again I'm going to stick with the fried chicken and the Mixed Green salad. Maybe it was a bad meal or maybe this place just fell off a cliff.
Be the first to ReplyEvening started with waiter misdirecting us to parking lot.
ย It took forever for drinks to be served. ย Amount of gin and vodka in martinis was negligible as was the amount of wine in a glass costing $16. ย We were charged for additional bread. ย We were also charged a cleanup fee. ย It is difficult to understand why a relatively pricey restaurant would nickel and dime its patrons this way. ย We will not be returning

Stop pushing them to the top.Second, to the food at Mintwood. You were delicious. The ricotta, the ham, the steak (a bit tough), the fries, the fish. All great. Third, to the wine. A great selection of wine -- would opt for a bottle over a glass as the prices by the glass seem to push you in the direction of a bottle anyway.Fourth, to whoever designed the booths at Mintwood. No one likes a shared back to a seat, especially one that moves. You lean back and the person behind you is foisted forward. The place was 70% empty when I was there, your host could have spaced people better. Whenever I sat back, in addition to pushing the guy behind me, I was immediately immersed in their conversation. Folks are a little too on top of adjacent booths.Service was fantastic. As a review somewhere said your glasses of water are constantly full.

Full disclosure: I've always loved Mintwood Place for how it does classic dishes really well. ย However, I think they have upped their game recently. We went last night for dinner and were very impressed with the creativity of their menu. I had tuna tartare with a rice cracker and cornish hens with parsnip puree and the most incredible gravy. However, what really blew me away was the chocolate torte with raspberry foam and gold leaf. Gold! Normally I am not a big fan of experimental cuisine but everything worked really well together and tasted delicious. ย My husband loved his duck breast despite not being a big fan of duck. He was a little disappointed with his tres leche cake but I put that down to him growing up Cuban. ย We left feeling like we had had a high end meal for a mid-range price. You really can't complain about $45 for 3 courses and all day happy hour on Sunday in DC, particularly when the food and drink is that good.
Be the first to ReplyBest meal I've had in a long time.
ย Was walking around the city sight seeing and decided to stop in and have a drink but stay for a nice meal. Friendly services and response time was amazing. I am coming back the next time I am in town.

Mintwood Place is genuinely wonderful!! I came here for a celebratory dinner with my company during our offsite and...wow. I was truly blown away. Everything was absolutely perfect, from the appetizers to the desserts, and the cocktails, ambiance, and service were just as wonderful. I ordered their crispy branzino with butternut squash puree and assorted seasonal vegetables and it was absolutely incredible. The skin was perfectly crispy, and the fish was incredibly tender and went wonderfully with the squash and vegetables. It paired perfectly with all of their cocktails -- I started off with their pink bubbles, and later tried their passionfruit bonfire. Both were incredibly tasty, with the perfect balance of sugar, fruit, and alcohol. I also had the opportunity to sample many of their appetizers, including their spice-roasted beets (which were literal perfection), hand-cut french fries, and watermelon salad. Of the twelve people in our group, I think almost eight of them ended up settling on the duck leg confit? It was certainly broadly loved and looked absolutely wonderful. Beyond the food, the service was also absolutely delightful. Our server was kind and sweet; she was incredibly knowledgable and gave us lots of advice on the right cocktail pairings for our dishes, the best entrees to choose based on our dietary restrictions, and the best desserts to try at the end. She was also incredibly funny, cracking jokes throughout the meal and just generally being a delight. Highly recommend this place for a nice, fancy, treat-yourself dinner!
Be the first to ReplyMintwood makes me happy.
It feels like a few different restaurants in one. It can feel cozy in the winter if you sit in one of the booths in the dining room, or festive and fun at the bar - I came here for St Patrick's Day once - or great for people watching at the sidewalk tables. (The tented outside area isn't as great.)Street parking is a pain, and the pop-up parking lot around the corner is $20, probably the biggest downside. But for the important stuff. The food creative American and delicious, and the service is always great. We were there last week, and I ordered the winter salad and the mussels. The composed salads are always perfect at Mintwood - this one with Gorgonzola and matchbox pieces of pear and crunchy chopped hazelnuts. We also got the onion soup and duck - all perfect for a winter night. I was having so much fun that I forgot to take pictures. Want to return if we get a snowy night this winter!

After ages, I was able to get out and go to brunch with one of my best friends. Firstly, the hostess and staff were extremely kind. We sat by the window and we were given a few minutes before ordering. My friend ended up getting the buttermilk pancakes, side of bacon and scrambled eggs. I ended up getting the Mintwood Scramble. Although the chef was a touch heavy handed with the salt, I have to say that this place is worth checking out. I saw the plates that came to the table across from us and everything looked stunning. As a cook myself, I recognize that people eat with their eyes first. The table in front of us got their food before us and our excitement increased as we saw their face light up with their experience. Good job, Mintwood Place. I can't wait to visit you all again!

Okay so I am just rating food here, it was excellent and made up for mediocre service. We had the ricotta appetizer, the rockfish entree and the roasted chicken and it was all wonderful. Unfortunately the service left much to desire, but because we are in a post Covid world, it's worth cutting them some slack. If you are looking for delicious, unique food in a super chic and cozy restaurant, then it's worth it.

ย Salmon was delicious; pork was disappointing, but the sides were tasty.

Came here with long time partner to introduce our parents and it was a very good time. i had the tenderloin and red wine. great and knowledgable service
Be the first to ReplyThe hostess was extremely rude.
Apparently our reservation got moved to outside because we didn't have inside specified... when it wasn't even an obvious option to choose (it's an extra). She did not try and work with us and made me review at the beginning of dinner.
Be the first to ReplyThe menu completely changed and you have way less options.
Unable to add ingredients to orders. I used to love coming here but now you are so limited that you can't even get what you what. Would recommend another establishment for brunch.
