Beware kitchen appreciation fee separate from the expected tip amount.
Food was good, albeit a bit on a heavy side. Service was serviceable. Our hot dishes arrived simultaneously even after we asked to spread them out so we can enjoy them. The rip-off came at bill time. The server announced to the whole table the bill amount and asked us to pay the bill before printing it. Pretty embarrassing. We paid a preordained 22% tip BEFORE seeing the bill. An actual item in the bill was โkitchen appreciation feeโ that came to 4% of the original pre-tax bill. In an unrelated faux pas, we were charged $2.00 for a cup of hot water. Just water. No lemon. No tea. Water. Would come again for the food and the ambiance. Will definitely tip differently.

Be very careful about booking an event here. Ours was cancelled due to the pandemic. The restaurant could not perform as dining in was not permitted. The owner was hostile and insisted our deposit (quite substantial) was nonrefundable so tough luck. He essentially took the money and ran. I understand that if you canceling a booking the restaurant canโt resell the date, but here the restaurant was closed. There are lots of hospitality venues to choose from where the owner has a heart. This is not one of them.

There are plenty of other restaurants in Los Angeles that do a much better job. The food is overrated. Our lamb special arrived lukewarm at best which had to be sent back for reheating. After reheating, it came back lukewarm. The taste wasn't great. The custard dessert was mediocre and we discovered this morning that they charged us twice for one of the sides. After spending almost $300 on dinner, we are extremely disappointed.

Four of us had a great โcatch-upโ lunch. Seated right at the time of our reservation. Professional and pleasant staff. We had the large Mezza humus platter to share. They were easy and very accommodating for special requests I had the Beyond Burger which was very good. Others enjoyed the Cleopatra salad and the Duck wrap. Great teas. Sat outdoors. Very clean and comfortable

We had a great experience. Interesting non-alcoholic drinks. Amazing charcuterie. The bread was so good. The food was fantastic. Great service. Nice decor. Would definitely go back.

Overrated place. Poor service and so so food. Manager was angry and not a friendly person. Hostess tried to accommodate our request but he came and snap at them.in front of our family. Won't be back!!!

This restaurant caters to the younger crowd, offers contactless ordering but does provide menus upon request. It is located in a mixed residential/industrial neighborhood right by the railroad tracks - within an hour two freight trains went by. In addition, there was music rather heavy on the percussion.
Nevertheless, the service was good and our Shakshuka delicious, as was the coffee.
Cars parked bumper to bumper along the streets so there is only $8 valet parking.
Overall a nice Sunday brunch.
Today was my first time at
Today was my first time at Modern Mediterranean (MOMED) and we went since they opened at 5 pm, we ordered Avocado Hummus and it was ok i would rather order normal Hummus, the Manti was outstanding and we have had Short Ribs Tajen and it was great and full of flavours, than they compliment us with Birthday Chocolate Mousse and i had it with Macchiato it was a lit ๐ฅ

Ordered the Momo Chips, Cleopatra Salad and Short Ribs Tajines. Absolutely fabulous. A wonderful way to celebrate our 14th anniversary.
Location was a little out of the way, but Waze got is there without a problem. Charming interior. Very open and airy patio dining -- felt very safe and socially distanced.
Too Little
The only good thing about Momed Atwater is the food. But it is not enough. It is in a marginal, hard to find neighborhood right next to the train which barrels through too often. The host is very rude and the wait staff doesn't even wear aprons. Our wine glasses were wet; the pillows which back the bench seats are old, smelly and shabby. There are so many good restaurants in the city. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM!

On a trip to Los Angeles, we were recommended to try out this restaurant by a few locals. We arrived at the restaurant and were received warmly by the host and the staff passing by. Often we find in restaurants that not all staff are friendly or helpful unless it is your waiter but here everyone was kind and helpful (feels like everyone was there for you). The restaurant is very charming, beautiful and comfortable.
We ordered cocktails first. I ordered a mezcal drink that was very balanced, pretty and very tasty and my partner ordered an old fashion which she claimed to be the best one she ever had. The waitress was very knowledgable and we even learn a few things! We ordered several plates to share : 1 prawns in saffron sauce (to die for) 1 roasted kaske eggplant dish 1 cleopatra salad with butter leaf 1 lamb skewers with cauliflower shaved. Everything we ate was AMAZING and soooo flavorful. The kind manager is also the sommelier and they have amazing reserved and special wines. He helped us to pick out the best bottle to pair with our food and explained the variety of wines (i recommend asking about which bottle to pair with food). The waitress and staff was attentive refilling our waters and checking on us.
Overall, we had a fun, romantic and wonderful time at the restaurant and cannot wait to visit again.
Thank you, momed for the experience!
