Never again.
I ate here once with a friend because the friend wanted to eat there, I was not impressed but it was edible, so, I decided to try it again a few months later. I ordered the fish filet...it was horrible. It was probably the worst little dried hockey puck of a grade school lunch triangle fish stick thingy that I had ever seen. Everything about the entire meal was deep fried to death, greasy and flavorless ! Its too bad because it does not have to be that way. The cook looked a little dirty and the waiter could not have been more than 15 years old. I do not usually bash a business, but this place should either improve the quality of their food or just give up...its really BAD. I literally took two bites, paid for my meal and left....Don't waste your money here.

This place fell off. The french toast had zero flavor. Not sure how you can mess up French toast. Grits were undercooked. This place has gone down over the years. Dont think i will be back.
Be the first to ReplyStill the best place in town for breakfast
Feel-good home cooking, from straight eggs and omelettes to Cajun or Mexican styles. Bottomless coffee cup and bustling diner atmosphere. One often runs into acquaintances and the occasional local celeb.

Definitely the best diner in Hartford area. Amazing pancakes. Good service. A must visit. Great location for students, couples and families.

A small local diner but the food is very good and the service is efficient and friendly. If you watch the parking lot for any given amount of time you will note that the local police are frequent customers (always a good sign). Everything on the menu is recommended, great eggs, omelets, and pancakes. I've stopped for lunch a couple times and enjoyed it but the breakfast is really where it's at.

Our take out order totaled $16 and some change. My husband mistakenly gave the girl at the register $40(2 $20 bills) instead of $20. We immediately made them aware of the overpayment but we were told that we had to wait for the owner who was not going to be available until the next day. I provided them with my phone number and requested a call back. Of course, no one called...so the next morning, I called and asked to speak with Stanley (the owner). He answered and hung up the phone on me. I called back and explained that I wanted my $20 back. Instead he offered me a credit for future purchase. I explained to him that after my bad experience there, I was not interested in a credit. I wanted MY money. He continued to say that he will not give me back my money. As upsetting as this is, he (Stanley) can keep my $20. I will NEVER recommend such dishonest business!

This is not your gourmet restaurant; it doesn't pretend to be. What it is is a small breakfast/brunch diner. There is an excellent choice of primarily breakfast but also lunch fare and what we had was just fine. Good service. There is no "atmosphere" it's a city diner with a variety of clientele and good, plain service. By the way, I saw a prior review in Hartford.com that said it was cash only. That is apparently no longer the case as I had no problem using MasterCard.
Be the first to ReplyA little disappointing....
For all the awards this place has received, we were a little let down. The awards were several years ago, some as much as 15 years old. Not sure if the same management exists, but the food did not impress us. Not bad, just not what was expected. Fairly small place, but it filled up fast after we got there. Service was very good!

Decent place for breakfast in the Hartford area. Landed up here after a couple of other places were closed or not serving breakfast before Easter Sunday. Cash only place.
Family run business that feels little bit like a diner. There are limited tables available so there can be a wait if you're a big group.
Service was good and we were attended to promptly. Got the mcmo and Louisiana roast beef sandwich. The mcmo was good although the roast beef wasn't what I was expecting. The home fries are spicy and good although a bit greasy.
Overall it was a good experience. We didn't get to try the pancakes. There's some parking by the side of the restaurant. Prices are all under 10$. Our bill was around 17$ for the above along with 2 OJs.
Decent Breakfast
Was recommended to go here by a friend. The place is tiny but clean. Food is alright, but not the special stuff I was expecting. Good for a quick bite..maybe we just caught them on a bad day :/
