A great classic Cincinnati pub up in Mt.
Adams and on the northend of the main strip. A historical building that has been treasured for years creates an amazing setting for great grub and good times. The menu is eclectic and the drinks are good. Have gone many times when in town for business or visiting my daughter at UC. Easily accessed from downtown or campus. Parking is on the street & is always interesting. Folks are always friendly & helpful. A good cultural destination if you're looking for a classic Cincinnati experience. Then go around the corner and enjoy some live music at The Blind Lemon!

Fun area of town with some great History! I really enjoyed my time here.

Welcoming place with extensive food choices: unexpected holiday lunch visit (due to unanticipated closure of Luca Bistro) led my friend and I here to a booth in the lovely atmospheric bar room where a friendly server delivered first a yummy chocolatini, then bangers to share and finally a Reuben sandwich. The food was OK, but the ambiance was sensational. I did not like the undisclosed up charge for my sweet potato fries offered by a server as a choice with my sandwich but that seems a niggle in view of the enjoyable experience of a truly hospitable atmosphere.

I had dinner here on Saturday evening before seeing a play with my daughter-in-law. It wasn't super busy when we arrived and we were seated quickly. We ordered cocktails - the Prohibition Manhattan - and it was perfect! The food was ok. Nothing great but we picked this place because of its proximity to the Playhouse. I had the Cheeseburger and my daughter-in-law had the Chicken Sandwich. The service was friendly and quick. The parking around this place is a nightmare, though. We drove around the blocks several times and it's difficult to find any street parking. We finally found a garage nearby for $5 - so, if you're eating dinner before a play you'd want to factor in the extra time to find parking.
Be the first to ReplySuper cute place! Sad experience.
Didn't want it to be, but it was. We walked in at 9pm (closing at 10pm) hoping to get a burger or sandwich. Wouldn't seat us anywhere but the bar. Two people walked in after us and were seated at a booth. We then ordered a drink and asked if we could still prefer food. We were told yes but the kitchen is a bit backed up and unfortunately felt attitude from the at tender for the question. Then asked for a drink menu and got more defensiveness. Weird. Was a full moon but really! After a few minutes got a so. Story of how they were running out of food and the kitchen....etc. Meanwhile, the people who got the booth had a server and ordered. I really don't think we did anything other than try to have a drink and a burger. Just our experience but thought should be shared.
Be the first to ReplyFood was pretty good but it was the bartender's customer
Food was pretty good but it was the bartender's customer service on 8/31/23 ( late lunch) that went above your regular expectations. See, I had ordered and eaten my lunch and then could not find my credit card. But until I frantically found it on my van floor, he really was extremely kind and did everything he could to decrease my stress. I will be back!

But they changed our tip amount. We specifically put 8 dollars and they changed it to 16 when we left the restaurant. Is this even legal?
Be the first to ReplyGreat bar and mostly good The bar staff are a little weird.

Food Quality: 4/5 Food Value: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 Prompt service, amazing atmosphere--love the decor in the old building. Fries were great. Not sure the Southwest sandwich was "southwest", but it was wonderful.
Be the first to Replythe food was delicious.
i got a salad with olives. there were only 2 olives in it though. i am not sure if that is what they normally do but i was hoping for a few more. the fries were delicious. my boyfriend got a sandwich that he really enjoyed. the servers were nice and patient with us considering we had never been there before. the restaurant was beautiful on the inside and out. i would definitely stop there again when in town.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was great, but the service was horrible.
The server, Jenny, asked if we wanted fries as if came with the meal. Apparently it only comes with chips, but she did not mention it at all and only prompted if we wanted fries or sweet potato fries. Our Server Jenny said it was on the menu, but we could not find it after we looked after. When the bill comes, the up charge was $3.50 for fries each, even though we did not ask for it. When I asked her about it, she just changed the subject. Was not friendly or accommodating.

Great food! Great service! Jack the bartender is awesome! He was super friendly and made great recommendations. I ordered the chicken salad and my husband had the Reuben! Both were great!

We visited on a early Saturday evening and were seated right away. Our service was slow, but we weren't disappointed with the food. Ordered the cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and both were very good, and others at the table ordered the Reuben's, and said they were in a best around category! Will return again!

The atmosphere is great and the historic building is fabulous. But......the food is mediocre at best. I got a soggy Reuben and tepid fries. Hubs got a lukewarm burger. Both were small and underwhelming.Stick to drinks with friends and you'll be alright.

Snooty and pretentious; if you're not a local you're invisibleMy wife and I stopped here for lunch. When we went in the hostess said their servers were very busy, and that we could have a seat at the bar while we wait for a table. The bartender didn't even acknowledge us, but when two of his friends came in he acted like they were celebrities; chatting them up, shaking their hand, laughing, etc. He stood there, yammering with them, like we weren't even there. After sitting there for about 15 minutes a group of four came in, and the same hostess whisked them right to a table. She put them at a table for four, so I get it. Whatever. About 10 minutes later the bartender's friends left, and THEN he decides to ask us if we wanted anything. We said no, hoping we would have a table soon. About another five minutes went by and another couple walked in the door. The same hostess looked right at us, grabbed two menus and showed the couple to a table. She totally blew us off. My wife is normally a go-with-the-flow person, but even she had had enough. So we left. We walked a few blocks down the street to El Barril and had an excellent meal, and the people were as friendly as could be....no uppity attitude at all.Screw this place and their snobby, nose-in-the-air attitude. They can keep kissing the backsides of locals and we'll keep our money.Show less

Great atmosphere! Food ( very good) and beverages are reasonably priced. Vintage memorabilia.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and service, unless busy.
Staff gets salty and they bicker with each other if they get busy. Lunch never disappoints, nights after playhouse keys out suck.
Be the first to ReplySuch a cool bar and grill.
It has such a nice vibe to the place and friendly staff and an inviting atmosphere. I am so glad we stopped in.We were in between some sightseeing and needed to grab a very late lunch before dinner. We were going to eat in a few hours so it was a good option for a small, quick meal. Service was slow at 3:30/4:00 pm but super friendly. Loved our server and she suggested a half salad to accommodate the situation and also gave me a chance to try that Greek Salad I had my eye on. Only thoughts on that are for the 1/2 salad price I would just go for the full salad next time. My partner and I both enjoyed the food and the restaurant. The food was delicious and would love to eat here again! Helpful hint, there is a pay parking garage down the street if needed or if you have difficulty finding street parking.
