Didnt like the food much.
The biryani tasted below par. We need to serve water and poppadum ourselves and pay 10% service tax... not sure what service we paid for.Wouldnt recommend.

Always a good choice to bring overseas visitors for a taste of Northern Indian food. They have 2 traditional clay ovens for freshly baked naan and tandoori. The mutton bryani was flavourful and the mutton super tender. We ordered the tandoori platter which had chicken, prawns and tofu, all were good. Also had the paneer, butter chicken and dhaal. Garlic and butter naan to mopped up the curry. Of course I had to have my mango lassi

I was intrigued to try the fish head curry here after my Indian coworker raves about how tasty it was. Coming into the restaurant it looks like a legitimately authentic shop. It has won a umber if awards but this was like 10 years ago and maybe I should have come here then because my meal wasn't all that great. Food: 3 starsService: 3 starsEnvironment: 3.5 starsOverall: 3.25 starsRecommendations: biriyaniThe fish head curry is the signature dish and reason I came. It comes in small, medium and large and I had the small. The dish is spicy so if you can't handle heat then this isn't for you. The curry sauce itself is not very thick so the luscious mess you get from dipping bread into the curry isn't there. The biggest issue I had with this dish was the fish itself. The fish was over cooked and they used a really low quality fish type. This really liked the dish for me and I didn't finish the fish. I enjoyed the other components more like the okra and pineapple. The naan was also a disappointing and I would order that. The biryani was the best part and that was really good. I enjoyed the vegetable accompanying it as well as the rice itself. Lastly avoid the fresh coconut. It clearly isn't from Thailand. The meat inside was hard and can't be eaten and the water was not refreshing at all.
Be the first to ReplyGood Indian joint in the basement of the mall.
Had the Yellow rice, mutton vindalu, fried lady fingers, and cheese nan.Enjoyed everything. I would go back. Maybe not the cheapest or spiciest but in AC and in the modern comforts of the mall, I will take it!
Be the first to ReplyEverything is extremely spicy and all pre-made.
Medium fish head curry was too big for 3 people - get the small!

My husband and I were in Singapore and we had a chance to catch up with our friends who are locals here. They picked us up from our hotel and we ended at Muthu's Curry for dinner. Our friends had made reservations in advance so we got a table right away. When we arrived at the table we were given a banana leaf on a tray. We were able to order from the table's digital menu. We immediately started ordering multiple dishes to include: fish head curry (the best!!!), curry mutton, Gobi Manchurian, and a few other items that now I can't remember. Everything was delicious. All the food was delicious and highly recommend. Each couple got a side dish of rice to share.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a disappointment.
I'd really wanted Banana Leaf Apolo but thought Muthu's Curry was probably just as good and the Suntec location was centralized for everyone. So the good things are the location and the free flow papadam that you can help yourself to. About everything else we ordered was just not very good. The fish cutlets were tiny for the price. Chicken 65 and chicken masala was just ok. Rice was not good (how can rice go wrong?).

A friend and I walked by this place and decided to give it a try. Surprisingly, their food was quite tasty and reasonably priced. However, the service (not all that attentive) and self-serving water (just weird given that this was a proper restaurant) might make me not want to come here. Comparably, I like other India/curry place a lot better than here. Oh...when they say spicy on their menu...it means spicy. Or am I not Asian enough to handle the spiciness? :P
Be the first to ReplyOh Indian food I adore thee.
"I love your fish curry,Deep fried potato balls.I stuff myself with the butter chicken And then my stomach had no space left at all."I tasted the fish curry and it was hot spicy hot. Luckily it wasn't hot as in sizzling hot but just cooled enough for you to still savour its spices. I mean there is a fine line to draw between really not enjoying the food because its just too hot (hot heat and hot spicy) and enjoying the flavours and being able to love the food. Awwwww the butter chicken. So creaaaammmyy. And the aloo gobi so crunchy and mushy at the same time.I mean seriously? I wanna eat you all up and I wish I had 2 stomachs. The starting of papadums and some greeny sauce was already rocking my house.Awesome. I love you. Don't renovate and leave me again.Edit; no more potato balls. Its off the menu. But there's a free flow of papadums. So it kindaaaaa balances out I guess.

Manfriend and I ended up at Suntec and were surprised with the new renovations! The Atrium has also been revamped and included a collection of new restaurants. One of them happens to be Muthu's Curry. Muthu's Curry: Spicy! The fish curry is spicy! And the fish curry is a must! It's delicious and full of flavor! The Manfriend and I ordered a small fish curry, but it was huge! I think it was big enough for a family of four. Manfriend said that this was definitely the best fish curry he's had in Singapore. Our meal included, 1. Fish Curry. See above. 2. Grilled Cottage Cheese and Vegetable. Pass. It was too simple and not exactly what we imagined despite the pretty picture in the menu. It came with the green cilantro dipping sauce, which I always enjoyed. White pepper powder was also sprinkled on top...is this Indian? 3. Muthu's Chicken Chukka. Yum! No gravy, but the chicken was cooked in dry spices. Reminded me a bit of Sichuan food, especially since there were cashews! Manfriend and I agreed this was our favorite dish. But, be warned! It's spicy! Meals come on banana leaves and with unlimited rice (if all parties order a bowl). They also have two free appetizers, a spicy eggplant and another mixed cabbage slaw (?). Water is also free. Price wise, not bad! A bowl of Palak Paneer here was $8 compared to my local Kopitam at $8. We paid under $50 and Citibank card holders get an extra 10% off! Woohoo! Service was also excellent!
