Incredible.
The best Omakase on the south east, and possibly better than anything I've tried even in New York. I was recently in Tokyo and the Omakasa there did not exceed NAOE

Naoe will provide you with a top-notch service experience- perhaps the best we've ever had. We were celebrating a special occasion, so the customized menu (wishing us congratulations at the top) was a nice touch. The server, Wendy, is quite welcoming and engaging. Chef Kevin Cory is attentive and eager to talk sushi and sake. The sake - from Nakamura Brewery, in the chef's family since the 1800's- is outstanding. The ambience is spot on- limited omakase seating in a traditional Japanese setting. As far as the food, there were some high points, including the beautiful bento box that began the evening, consisting of squash-blossom Chawanmushi with local mahi mahi and organic shiitake; vinegared lobster tail with ginger and cucumber blossoms; fried Mamey and Konjac root; and Egyptian star flower, Salicornia, and Yamaimo. The Pink Moon oyster suimono and the Miyago oyster, as well as the uni, were excellent. The rest of the courses were not particularly memorable because it seemed as thought there was excessive respect for the ingredients. We certainly appreciate the emphasis on locally sourced and organic food, but many courses did not "pop" with the flavor and intensity we've experienced at the very best omakase restaurants. For example, the shoyu-marinated local Kingfish was somewhat on the bland side, and the two unagi courses lacked seasoning. The cured mullet roe, although a delicacy, was underwhelming, and the broiled local Mahi Mahi could have benefited from Togarashi or key lime to give it some zing. The other somewhat detracting aspect is the lack of any external signage to indicate exactly where the restaurant is. We eventually found it (after walking by it several times) because we noticed a small slip of paper above the door handle. Look for it next to a small convenience store. There's lots of potential at Naoe- but earning a Michelin star will require a reinvigoration and tweaking of the current menu so that the quality of the food matches the superb service.
Be the first to ReplyUnbelievable dining experience.
The food is excellent and the service is impressive. The omakase is the way to go. Naoe is one of my favorites. It's an intimate dining adventure that leaves you wanting more. Definite foodie spot. Highly recommend.

This was a couple of the greatest meals of my life back in the day, but forcing my alcoholic father to pay $140 for a bottle of sake that it would ruin his life to drink if he wants to eat there is a dirty move. The last time I tried to eat there, I emailed them a couple of times about it and had my email ignored. Looking this time, it just makes me angry.
Be the first to ReplyThe sushi is above excellent.
Very fresh and simply prepared to be able to savor the fish. Wendy, our server has always been incredible and very attentive to our requests. The restaurant is small and private. The experience is very personal and you are made to feel special. I highly recommend it if you appreciate sushi prepared and served in the traditional Japanese way.
Be the first to ReplyAs of this review, I believe the heart and service of NAOE
As of this review, I believe the heart and service of NAOE is beyond what I've ever experienced before. Tonight, we were led by Wendy and the service here was superb, may I say genuine to the point you can't really "train". Tommy, as well, very friendly and served our dishes impeccably. Once you're in the door, they really take care of you 100%. Even as we were a bit late to depart, they never once made us feel unwelcome or rushed to leave. Further, from the cloth embroidered placements and select serve-ware to the uniquely selected ingredients (sake, wasabi, soy, fish, mushrooms, rice and more) NAOE is a very special experience. Tonight, and I believe most nights, they only seat four people for a very intimate, classy, curated, and high end experience. The ambiance is very zen, minimalist, and it works for the space. They make you feel comfortable, truly at home. Not only that but the uniquer fare is very tasty and masterfully crafted by an experienced chef with a lot of heart and respect for the Japanese tradition and culture. Prices and plates are not really for the faint of heart, and it's not meant to be. Foodies will relish the experience and do expect to equally "dish out" for it. NAOE - you have something truly special. Keep up the amazing tradition. I wish you all the success and hope to join again soon.
Be the first to Replyhands-down the ULTIMATE, BEST, MOST UNIQUE, AUTHENTIC
hands-down the ULTIMATE, BEST, MOST UNIQUE, AUTHENTIC Japanese experience you'll find in Miami - possibly even the entire United States!!!!! There is NOTHING ELSE LIKE IT, or that even comes close. You cannot compare the Naoe experience to any other omakase. There are no words.. see - I can't even find a way to describe it!! You really have to try it for yourself to understand. Naoe stands in a class of it's own. Those who know, KNOW.Some say it's impossible to get in - which it is - but as I always say, "if there's a will, there's a way." Maybe some are simply contacting the wrong reservations. Just call ahead and plan at least a month out. The wait is so worth it! You will absolutely not be disappointed. Thank me later;)!
Be the first to ReplyAnother amazing meal at Naoe.
This is a high quality omakase experience. Excellent service and only the freshest ingredients. This team puts in 110% to deliver the best experience possible.
Be the first to ReplyWe heard NAOE was a hotspot for authentic omakase so we
We heard NAOE was a hotspot for authentic omakase so we pre-booked our reservation a couple months in advance to celebrate my birthday. They accommodated our party of 5 (usually it's only for 4) and we were seated at the sushi bar with an open kitchen as the backdrop. If you want to have an authentic Japanese dining experience served in a private, intimate setting then NAOE is definitely worth the cost; and if you are a cold sake fan, even more so. But if you are not open to trying something outside of just salmon and tuna and maki rolls, then this will not be your cup of tea.The 10+ course omakase is a 3 hr dining experience, complemented with personal and courteous service customary in Japanese culture. While the Sushi Chef is concentrating on his creations, our server explained each course in great detail. They use traditional cooking techniques such as shoyu, fermenting, and marinating. Our first course was a Bento box filled with various items adorned with colorful herbs, super cute. I love the attention to detail. Our entire meal was very good. My only wish was to see the Chef cut a live fish to plate sashimi as a course. Maybe next time?Fresh fish and quality shellfish is a must for sushi, but three other items are often overlooked: fresh grated wasabi, quality soy sauce (first pressed) and good sushi rice (lukewarm, balanced flavor, slightly al dente), and NAOE did not disappoint. (We wanted to purchase their bottle of premium soy sauce but it wasn't for sale.)Overall, we had a pleasant dining experience at NAOE. My only complaint is that no one was there to greet us when we entered: we wandered around in the front room for about 10 mins before our hostess came out. I'm also not a fan of how these exclusive omakase sushi bars go out of their way to be so inconspicuous that it dampens my excitement to have to search for a place with no signage. But the delicious meal and excellent service that followed more than made up for it.
Be the first to ReplyIMO a truly spectacular performance and homage to Japanese
IMO a truly spectacular performance and homage to Japanese cuisine by chef Cory and his team. Had us reminiscing about the magical experiences had in Japan. A three hour dinner went by in a blink thanks to how welcoming and thoughtful they were. Really can't wait to visit again. And again.
Be the first to ReplyMy goodness.
I have LONGGGGGG WAITED to make a reservation here, what better timing than marking the end of my 14 Year Miami Stint? Combine that with a good friend's birthday and it's a winning combination!!! Memorable, delicious, enjoyable, intimate, I mean - so so so worth it.Is it expensive, yes - but also of course it is! They are using the best of the best ingredient-wise and the service you receive is beyond top-notch. If you do not value experiences like this then you will think its "too expensive" but if you find life through food this is a "cannot miss" experience! The menu was diverse, intriguing, intimidating (at times), and quite adventurous. What a mix! I would not skip the sake, not at all - it was such a wonderful accompaniment to each dish! I won't go into detail on my particular tasting experience as you can never be certain what chef will be in the mood for while you visit but just prepare yourself to try new things and be open to everything NAOE has to offer!
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely delicious.
Omakase selections were amazing. Wendy is extremely nice and helpful and above all knowledgeable.
Be the first to ReplyAlright so NAOE to me was always a once in a lifetime
Alright so NAOE to me was always a once in a lifetime experience because that is one heck of a hefty bill. We used our anniversary as an opportunity to try it. You walk into this door that simply has a business card and are transported into a private kitchen with Chef Cory and his associates. The staff was super sweet and attentive. The meal was like a marathon. Each course made sense one after the other. I am a VERY adventurous person but some of these items, I couldn't even get behind. The bento box contained geoduck which was perfectly cooked and crab claw in rice vinegar which was the absolute highlight of the meal. The sushi courses were excellent except for the ice fish. It is a bunch of tiny translucent fish but to my surprise, it was slightly bitter. The steam fish course came with a type of whelk which I could not stand. Its flavor was so bitter and charcoal esque that it overpowered the flavor of the rest of the course. There was a Japanese delicacy of sun dried eggs that was a bit too chalky for my taste. The rest: eel, barley, lobster, uni, the list goes on, were absolutely beautiful and phenomenal. Would I eat here again? Probably not because paying ~$700 for two people is insane. Was it worth the once in a life time experience: Absolutely. And for anyone who is adventurous and willing to try a Japanese delicacy, this place is fantastic.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a waste of time.
This piece of crap has been shut down and don't tell anyone, the least y'all could do, being a piece of crap, is let everyone know you're shut down for being A PIECE OF CRAP!!
Be the first to ReplyDelicious and creative food in a great atmosphere.
Excellent service. Our go-to place for special occasions.
Be the first to ReplyFood was good - but after pre-charging $1000 for two
Food was good - but after pre-charging $1000 for two (yikes!) they suddenly added uncharged tax and $14 for water. That's ridiculous.

Be the first to ReplyFood and drink are utilitarian in nature.
Fundamental to human life, they are daily requirements and are regularly treated as such. It is rare - exceptionally so - to come across food presented with such creativity and finesse that its consumption is elevated beyond nourishment, beyond enjoyment, beyond revelry, to something wholly transformative. I am immeasurably saddened that I just finished my first meal at Naoe because I will never be able to eat my first meal there again. However, I am immeasurably happy that I now exist as the me that has been there, had his culinary and artistic horizons expanded , and will be back many, many times. I have much more to say about Naoe and will elaborate further on a later date. For now, I hope this strongest and proudest of recommendations will suffice. Make a reservation as soon as you finish reading this review. You have my solemn promise that Chef Cory, the incomparable Wendy, and her all-star brother are artisans worthy of the highest level of praise. Naoe is cuisine at its most theatrical, flavorful, and achingly beautiful.

I am giving this a low rate knowing there is a lot of ignorance on my part regarding Japanese cuisine. NAOE motto is.. it is not fresh;it is alive! And you can take that to the bank. I give them all the kudos in selection of products, and cooking creativity, but the outcome is for a very selective acquired taste. I could. It eat many of the food, and my friend threw up twice. Once in their bathroom and the other in the Uber. The cost for 3 people was almost $2,000, and one of us could not keep it. Again, I do not doubt this must be a sublime experience for people who appreciate true Japanese cuisine that goes far beyond the sushi and the tempura.
Be the first to ReplyNote: On Yelp I review exclusively sushi bars.
Summary: If you enjoy new and varying foods and fish, this is still the best sushi in Miami. It is not a place for you if a sauced roll is top of your favorites list or you like to stay close to the salmon/yellowtail/tuna home. If sashimi and nigiri by the piece are your go to, if you're out for a new taste of something you've never had before, if you enjoy having a chef craft a meal for you, and love a beautiful presentation, you're in for a treat.I've managed to eat at a wide variety of sushi bars, and built a relationship with my local chef that has led to savoring all kinds of unusual seafood. Yet each time I take a trip to NAOE, there is always a new fish, shellfish, fruit or vegetable. New experiences this time included braised sazae (sea snail), mantis shrimp which had it's roe still attached to the underside, and a great variation on basted eel with sichuan pepper and citrus lace. His eel sauce was such a welcome, tasty, variation on a standard fare! These new treats (for me) were part of the 15 course meal that still encompassed other uncommon seafoods that are hard to find elsewhere. It started with the bento box highlight, a vinegared maple point oyster with grated ginger and cucumber blossom (a 1 inch cucumber with a yellow flower sprouting from it). It included braized madai (sea bream), trumpet mushrooms, ishidai (striped beakfish), local lychees as part of the ending. As you would else expect, the nigiri is served to each individual one at a time so the rice is warm and lightly packed. The wasabi grated immediately prior, and the chef's nikiri sauce painted on as fit. The fish fresh and cool (or hot as the case may be). The uni was the best I can recollect, having been shipped without preservatives in salt water to maintain freshness. The sake and beer selection is small, but excellent. Although he's had some distribution issues, he normally has his family's sake available. As I've mentioned before, Chef Corey is reserved and quiet by nature, so you'll have to work a little, but he will get talking and he'll impart his experiences and knowledge and stories. It always makes the evening more enjoyable. =)

Celebrated my birthday and graduation at NAOE! Coming from California, the dishes were well worth the travel. The chef is amazingly talented and the host was knowledgeable, kind and friendly. I could not have asked for a better Omakase experience.

An experience I would gladly repeat! We used to live in Miami and were unable to get reservation to give this place a try and to know about the buzz about it. My husband and I are loves sushi and we never experienced a Chef's table style ( although, we always do omakase, still a very different experience). As soon as we were able to find the spot the set and the ambiance is top notch. With all the food we got and it is very well presented. What strikes me the most is the chefs passion for what he does. My husband and I are his fan and we are looking forward to visit Miami and experience that again. About all the food we got. I can't even find a word how delicious it was. In fact delicious is not even serves justice. I fast this place and the Chef it self DESERVES A MICHELIN STAR.
